Tsuzumi Boshi

This review is made by an older lady with very little knowledge of fragrances. You have been warned. When I opened the sample bottle and dabbed, it was like a slap in the face. My eyes opened wide and I waited... And then love came and stayed. I adore this. No mingling of notes, just the purity of one note, then the next, then the next. It gives a feeling of layering more than blending. How I would wear it: it’s winter morning, cold and dreary, I want to stay under the duvet, I can’t barely open my eyes. I reach the bottle on the nightstand and spray. I’M UP. Running for coffee and ready to tackle the day. By the time I locked the door behind me, a nice warmth envelops me and I feel protected from the cold. Tsuzumi Boshi is dichotomy, cold and warm, sharp and enveloping. For a natural fragrance, longevity and projection are really good. Sillage, very little and I don’t care. The citrus is just amaaaazinnng! I tried most of the Di Ser fragrances and all have an aromatic quality that is not suited for everybody. I also agree with one reviewer that most of them are also an « experience ». Even the ones I don’t like, I respect the journey they offer. Also, Di Ser dry downs are just fabulous. So far, I pulled the trigger on 3 full size bottles: T Boshi, Kagiroi and Akanesasu. No regrets!

I truly love this scent. I lived in Japan in my 20s and this smell makes me incredibly nostalgic. It smells like a soap that I used at my local sento/bath (but at a higher more eloquently blended level). The scent is bright and fresh - beautiful in the spring. Staying power is on the weaker side, but I tend to use this scent at home before/after a long bath as a happy little private moment, so longevity isn’t too much of a concern for me. I’ve sampled a few other Di Ser fragrances but this was my favorite by far. I think this is one of the more approachable and versatile fragrances they make (while still being unique).

This is super complex. If one pays really close attention, one can detect each of the listed ingredients. But I find this to be super rounded and nothing sticks out or dominates to my nose. It is a spicy and woody fragrance that also has a hint of Asian pear IMO, which gives this more of a unisex feel than many other fragrances from the same house. Overall amazing composition, but maybe not quite masculine leaning enough for me.

Starts out a bit strong (I had to set it aside while paying closer attention to his other scents), but after a couple of hours, the long & refreshing oud drydown gives it an edge over the rest of the brand within affordable price range!

Beautiful therapeutic aromatic woody fragrance named after the Orion constellation and initially used to perfume a Japanese art event. The scent opens with aromatic bursts of lemon, cardamom and nutmeg. The heart reveals a geranium surrounded by fennel and pine. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of rosewood with slight hints of sandalwood, oud and patchouli and the fennel lemon still prominently hovering in the background. This is spare, high quality natural perfumery of the highest order. The result is not intended to invoke sensual pleasure but rather elevate the wearer into higher spiritual planes. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and good longevity. Enjoy!

Sharp, clean, sour. Smells more or less like you're putting on mosquito spray in a rainy forest

Sometimes I wish I weren't a Pisces. Believe it or not but i'm actually sensitive to other people's feelings and as a result, I'm gonna review this euphemistically. This offering is stylized in an antimacho kind of way with bright citruses atop geranium which adds more umph to the citrus element. You can't help but notice the similarities to Comet powder and it pretty much stays that way for "some minutes" due to the overusage of lemon and pine. The composition then pivots towards a more muscular direction with woods coming forth with spices rapidly ripening. While everything becomes more "muscular," it also becomes more naturalized and noticeably muted during this stage. One can't help but enjoy the musk radiating at the base of Boshi but I wish there were more of it in the early stages. Quite possibly the musk is an inadvertent accord created by the clashing of two or more notes. All-in-all..shoulder shrug. If Di ser and Boring birthed a daughter, it would be Tsuzumi Boshi.

to me, its an early morning scent, there's something relaxingly calm yet energetic about it. the opening smells of camphor and smth between a spicy bayleaf and a zingy lemon. settles with geranium, cardamom, and citrus on a pleasant woody base. btw, palisander gives it a palo santo effect, which some might not enjoy as much. despite sharp-smelling notes (nutmeg, fennel, oud), the composition is very smooth and harmonious, not too loud yet still present. in the base, it "freshens out" even more, becoming almost minty. also, its much more complex than my description suggests:) beautiful aromatic for the natural scents' lovers. I enjoy it, but honestly, if you own other di sers, this scent profile is very predictable and has rather little difference from the rest of their offerings of similar style.

Highly acidic lemon paired with a vibrant pine and patchouli. I don't think the patchouli works in this instance, or not in this particular concentration at least, as it comes across a little moist, unripe and vegetal. I know that's me, and my own weird tastes, but, you know, this is sorta-kinda my review, you know? Anyway, the rosewood adds a nice amount of 'smooth', but my overall feeling of this scent is that it's not 100% for me. I enjoyed wearing it, but I'm not sure I'd seek it out. Worth a try, nonetheless, especially since I am quite particular about what I like and what I do not like.

This one is amazing I get the fennel and the patchouli very high quality stuff. Full bottle worthy. 9/10
