Diamond Diana

Complete surprise!!! I can attest to the fact that Diana Ross really smells like this! :) - having been fortunate enough to see her live on several occasions (and most recently, close enough to experience the sillage)... I could have sworn she was wearing some bespoke variant of Generation Woman by Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 . I sprayed this yesterday and though the notes are quite different, this fragrance reminds me of a lighter, more versatile GW, the presentation a perfect choice for its much more mainstream market. Based on the crystal clear color of the juice and name, I expected something a bit more crisp and clean, with the obligatory sacchrine-like sweetness of a celebrity fragrance.. Much to my surprise, this is unlike any "celebrity fragrance" I have ever encountered. This is quality perfume - a sensual, mysterious floral oriental. As someone who normally wears niche/oud-based fragrances, I can say that I really enjoy this perfume. The clear color stunned me a bit at first, but the actual fragrance is sexy, sophisticated, and rich. My 3 young sons are obsessed with the bottle - even snatched it a few times thinking it was a "real diamond".

God I love this perfume! The box is so luxurious I can’t get over how cheap it was! A lovely black velvet box with red and black ribbons on the top and it opens up with the fragrance sitting inside with a lovely little sleek card with a message from Diana inside. The liquid has turned a little yellow but I don’t mind as the perfume it’s self is still Devine. First spray it reminds me off obsession and it’s different from most other celeb fragrances on the market as it gives that ‘vintage’ feel. So spicy and warm with a powdery floral vibe. Definitely fits in with the 80s powerhouses and I can see Diana really wearing this. From the packaging to the fragrance and the longevity it’s amazing, lasts about 24 hours on the back off my hand and even longer when I spray it on my jumper or scarf. So glad I purchased this one 😊

It does resembles CK Obsession when you first spray, but it becomes clear in the dry down that it has a character of its own. It does not lasts or projects like Obsession, unfortunately. It does have a herbal roundness to it (I believe from the vetiver). I also perceive a "sweatiness" from the coriander. It is not stinky, but a realistic skin scent that is somehow different from a musky scent. I perceive the incense more active on this one, it is not warm/amber/sweet as Obsession, but strands to the herbal/green/aromatic side. A very unique fragrance that I like a lot, and will get a back up bottle asap. I don`t own/know anything quite like this one.

IMHO.....for me.....a "hidden gem". Ok yeah, it has a "vibe" of CK Obsession....Krizia Krazy....but Diana ends up "doing her own thing" in the end. During the final phases I get Obsession-ish type vibe.....but with Cabochard and/or Jean Courtier Coriandre vibes added....(?). This one is "my type" of fragrance...(individual results may vary). Mid-range performance/sillage first wearing. For under $20..??.....sure...why not ?? Love it !!

I like this perfume. At first sniff, I thought it might be a bit too powdery, but the warmth of the incense, sandalwood, cedar, and amber prevent that from being a stopping point for me. It's a different sort of approach to a celebrity fragrance, as many of the notes are so old-school oriental, which I love. This scent really grew on me.
