Only Desire

I will admit I was almost tempted to blind buy this because the gorgeous vulgar bottle and notes had me absolutely in tears of joy. Aldehydes in 2026?! Yes, please! Luckily I got to try this before committing and my first disappointment was with the bottle itself, since the inner petals and piercing are both made of plastic and not glass and metal, but whatever, what about the juice itself? Only Desire opens sweet and incredibly generic, both on skin and paper strip, it almost reminded me of another Diesel perfume, the now discontinued Loverdose Red Kiss. So I was ready to fold completely until a half a hour later or so I got a whiff of my wrist and discovered my skin truly loves cumin, turning this Only Desire flower of sin into the perfect kind of dirty perfume I've grown to love recently. It can be considered Akro Night's sister, much sweeter and not heavy on rose but the cumin and flowers idea is the same, plus you get a super cool bottle in my opinion. Now, is this worth it? Honestly, if you like musky and sexy scents and cumin behaves well on your skin then it's a pretty good choice and I'm happy to know at least one mainstream brand is putting out something like this, but if you're into weirdo niche perfumery then it will smell a lot like something you've definitely already tried or like nothing at all. It doesn't even compare to Kingdom, but to me it has good chances to become my new signature.

Unique and unusual in the best possible way. I was given 3 samples of this in the store late May when it came out and the moment I put nose to my wrist I was so so intrigued. Because of its uniqueness I don't find it a safe blind buy at all. It's sweet but in a very moist close to the body kinda way (the bottle could not be more fitting). If the natural smell of a vagina could be made to feel like a nice, sweet, refreshing and unique smell without chemicals, body sprays and candied childlike scents, maintaining its human qualities, this is how I imagine it would smell like. I'm honestly mesmerized how Diesel was able to pull this off. In a world full of clean girl fragrances, be a pierced vagina orchid in a shape of a bottle of perfume and own it with honor, beauty and grace.

I am completely obsessed with Only Desire by Diesel. It has quickly become my absolute go-to scent for almost any occasion. Every time I spray it, I get compliments, and I honestly can’t stop reaching for it every single day. It’s rare to find a fragrance that ticks all the boxes for me, but this one delivers. Honestly, this is the first time in years I’ve felt that same electric, genre-defining excitement I felt when Angel first hit the scene, or the cultural shift that was CK One. It captures that same 'lightning in a bottle' magic—it’s completely unique, bold, and entirely its own thing. In a world of safe, copycat fragrances, this one dares to be different.

This is not a blind buy and I mean it. Both my boyfriend and I tried this and the difference is wild. On him, this perfume smells like a grandma’s wallet: coins mixed with laundry detergent and a slight powdery note. On me it’s the orchid and amber that stand out the most. Only Desire is a hit or miss. The bottle is my type of suggestive design, but the scent is highly dependent on your pH. I don’t find it very strong or long lasting, but it works like a charm for summer, especially under these hellish heatwaves. I really enjoy the orchid notes and it smells divine when I mix it with the Rituals of Ayurveda body oil.

Only Desire is such an amazing launch! Honestly the pack is so gorgeous, is so detailed, unique and beautifully crafted, it really feels like a piece of art, looks so nice exposed at my house ! 😍 and omg the scent is divine, love that it really differentiates from what we are used to to smell on vanilla, really unique and addictive, love the mix between the freshness and fruity velvety take of aldehydes, pear and banana in contrast with the florality of the orchid and sensuality of the vanilla ! Super versatile and great sillage ! Highly recommend! My favorite perfume launch of the year so far ! 😍🌺❤️🔥

Smells different on everybody. I tried it with my friend, on her it smelled lighter, you could smell jasmine, vanilla, bargamot. On me it smells heavier, orchid, vanilla, skin and metal notes are stronger. It’s really long lasting, I can smell it for several hours. I might be biased but I really love the way it smells on me, I’ve already gotten some compliments on it. And the bottle is stunning, cmon

I love this new female fragrance from Diesel!!! The bottle is iconic and powerful! I want to collect it. The scent is good, very addictive and unique, not like a classical female scent! I would buy this for my Christmas gift exchange with my friends.

I’m a huge vanilla fan, but I’ve never smelled this one before! I love it!

I blind bought this solely for the bottle. This is a night scent for me as it is sweet and flowery, but the vanilla is dominant on my skin and it becomes far too heavy on hot summer days. I was curious about the banana and pear, but they fade quickly and in the end it smells like a generic vanilla gourmand. I'd say it's safe to gift to a bubbly woman between 23 and 25 specifically, as it's not trying to make a statement but it wants its share of summer fun while following the vanilla trend.

I was excited for it but its nothingburger. Perfume called perfume. Nothing new or exciting. Its yet another basic ass vanilla perfume. Slight hints of Gucci Orchid. Its like beating a dead horse at this point with that vanilla note. Dont smell any aldehydes. I thought that note would make it different. If thats what desire smells like then God help us all.

Definitely overpriced. Weak projection I dont smell the majority of the notes listed. Honestly smells similar to a dryer sheet.

Diesel perfumes have been overall not bad insofar as they were cute twists on existing formulas: Fuel For Life was basically Coco Mademoiselle with an air of hippie herbal oils, Loverdose was Lolita Lempicka crossed with Kenzo Amour. You get the gist. But this one... L'Oréal goes deep and vicious with its focus groups to figure out what perfumes to comission for their various brands, and I need to know what on earth they asked and to whom that question was posed to create this thing. This perfume is apparently meant to smell like rum. It does not. In fact, when sprayed, Only Desire smells of nothing more than boiled corn. Not the nutty pyrazines of popcorn or the smoky phenols of roasted corn, but straight up boiled corn: that peculiarly flat, sweet smell halfway between the milky and the vegetal. This weird, slightly off putting accord is plopped onto a dismal backdrop of what is basically the usual Black Opium/Good Girl coffee-almond-metallic floral oriental of today. A ripoff of something that already felt tacky, defaced by the addition of something so bizarre it feels like it must have been a mistake. Like buying knock-off Versace platform heels and plastering them with bandaids. The far drydown is bearable, a sort of cocoa powder and incense affair not a million miles away from L'instant Homme. I suppose there might be someone out there who wants to smell like this. Wherever you are, woman who wishes to smell like boiled corn and cheap coffee syrup, your dream can now be fulfilled: it's all yours for the low low price of 127 euros for 50 ml, and comes lovingly packaged in a yonic, orchid-shaped bottle with a pierced clitoris. I really wanted to love this because the bottle is so pretty & unique and the notes sounded really nice to me, however I’m writing this after scrubbing this off my wrist because it gave me a nauseating headache :( To me, this smells very synthetic- a powdery, floral, woody/amber vanilla scent all mashed together that kind of smacks you in the face (nose). I was hoping for a nice dry down but it just smells the same as first spray- not much depth :/

Very disappointing. No staying power and the initial spray is straight up 90s. Very dated. If you told me this is dead stock from 1998, I'd believe it

I got a 2ml sample with my perfume order, otherwise I don't think I would have ever reached for this, even in a store. Well, I tested it now, and it's really difficult to imagine the target audience for this. Why is it so absurdly sweet, and how can anyone think this is tolerable? I thought to myself: I'll wear this on my way home from the city pool. I'll be sweaty, heading for a shower anyway, and maybe it'll fit a lazy summer afternoon mood. Banana, peach, fruity notes. No. While in subway, I became self-conscious: What if people think I wear this because I like it? Tragedy. It's a generic sweet cloying nightmare. One reviewer below described it as a "basic-ass nothingburger," and yes: basic + ass + nothing = this. I'm not necessarily against summery fruity body mists (for other people, not for me), but this is on another level. The sweetness is nauseating and there's nothing here that justifies choosing it over countless other fragrances. So maybe get this if you're crazy, cause this smells crazy. I don't think you can wear it if you're not. Edit: After a few hours it wasn't as nuclear as at the beginning, but still way too sweet and overdone. It smells like a perfume for 12 year olds.
