Dior Homme Eau for Men

I added a review months ago and updated it but I wanted to add another one as my feelings have changed and I wanna help anyone out who’s seeking a bottle. This has become one of my absolute favorite fragrances of all time. My journey with Dior Homme started with the 2020 EDT reform. I liked it then, but not really anymore. So when I started seeking out the OG Homme and its flankers the Iris was new to me and it has taken me time to appreciate, correction LOVE, this fragrance. I appreciate and love the OG edt that I have now, as well as the parfum which I keep sacred because it’s glorious and expensive. But this is so exceptional. It’s such a refreshing take on Iris. I’ve sought out other Iris fragrances that I now love (all concentrations of Chanel no 19 for example), but this I think is my favorite. It’s refreshing without being too light or fleeting. There’s a touch of sweetness and wood, and I find that it’s extremely versatile. Although refreshing, it doesn’t feel limited to spring and summer to me. I wore it to work on a cold day and I got three or four different people complimenting and standing around smelling me within moments of arriving. I originally bought a 50 ml, which I have about half left as I sometimes just spray it on me at home for feel goods. I’ve sought out another 50 ml, and 100 ml so that I can continue wearing this without worry. If you are looking for this, and are in the US, I highly recommend eBay and Mercari. You can sometimes find really good deals on this. I am kicking myself in the butt for not buying the two 100 ml bottles being sold together for $120...😭 Really am sad this is discontinued. I’m late to the game with it but I’m upset with Dior. Their new offerings are just like any other fragrance you can find at an Ulta counter now. I guess I should try their privee collection. 🥀 This is MY compliment magnet. I sometimes am so stunned by how many people REALLY like this. I do also believe this is Dior’s take on a mall fragance, like Abercrombie’s Fierce, like someone mentioned. BUT it is so much more sublime. Dior took that overall fresh, powdery, musky, woody, aquatic and MODERN vibe from mall scents (Fierce and if anyone remember’s Drift or the original unisex fragrance from Hollister) and made the best iteration while also singing elegance. I buy second hand bottles when not overly priced and I have the money, because this is really one of the most special/underrated/not talked about designer fragrances and masterpieces of all time. I really do think that. Dior and Gucci are REALLY BAD about discontinuing their quality fragrances (in the mass market, they each have their exclusive range that I have yet to to try), and churning out pretty subpar offerings IMO. As much as I struggle with Poison and Dune, they are masterpieces in artwork of aroma. Please Francis Kurkdijan, please bring Dior back to what it used to be in terms of artistry and boldness in taking interesting approaches in perfumery. Don’t make them like your private house (except doe Grand Soir). Please help us. 🙏🏼

I am bias when it comes to the entire CD Homme line, because my experience tells me that CD is by far the best in quality ingredients and originality in style that can be found from a large scale design house. Forget your associations, which may be limited by experience. Much has already been said about the distinguished, refined and comforting Iris note which shapes this masterpiece, and all of the top flankers that have followed. Iris is the heart of the CD Homme line. Iris is not feminine or masculine it is a plant, but if you are not secure in your sexuality then this might be to original for you. Temperature range/seasonal rotation is very important to consider for the entire Christian Dior Homme line. Temperature should always be an important consideration when choosing a fragrance. This is especially true for fragrances that are not synthetic or artificial. The more natural the ingrediatent, the more the notes respond to the natural environment. The house of CD has considered all the seasons an given us the perfect attire for each temperature range. The following is for OPTIMAL experience of all the top, middle and bottom notes in this composition. Temp Scale: CD Homme Parfum 0-59 F (Winter Nights or Formal) CD Homme 60-75 F CD Homme EAU 75-90 F CD Homme Sport 90-100 F If you are in a temp controlled environment all day, you should consider the median temp. and go from there. A heavily air conditioned office will allow you to use CD Homme EAU year around with no problems- when you step outside is another story, because you may not smell it in colder temps or it may be glarring in extreme heat. Who Will Wear This?: Dior Homme EAU exudes refinement while providing a relaxed confidence that is ready for exectuives, polished casual settings and thoose seeking an intriguiging, but unubtrusive scent. This will ONLY be confused for another fragrance in the CD Homme line and that is a VERY good thing for those who take pride in being an individual. Compliments: This will gather more compliments than the father CD Homme, because it dries down to a more traditional woods type of fragrance, but maintains a sensual vibe of vanilla. The Iris is there in the opening and you will always run the risk of a persons limited association. Some may say CD Homme EAU is feminine, because the average member of society is marketed to believe what a man or woman should smell like instead of refining their own nose and senses. A sumptuous fragrance, one of my all-time favorites from Dior - I cannot comprehend why it was discontinued. It's one of the first colognes I've ever bought, when it first came out in 2014, and it's something I wore religiously for the year following that purchase. This was my introduction to complex, layered perfumery, since prior to it I was only familiar with the more basic Polo collection. To put it simply, Dior Homme Eau for Men is one of the best-crafted aromatic iris fragrances in existence (well, not anymore, I guess, due to its discontinuation). The iris is omnipresent from opening to drydown. The citrusy bergamot and juicy grapefruit in the opening combine with the iris to give a posh, velvety, slightly lipstick-y vibe, while still maintaining a fairly masculine presence. The citrus and fruit notes slowly fade away to reveal iris absolute in its entirety - the core of the fragrance - while woods develop into the drydown to lend a powdery finishing sillage. To some, it can be generic and reminiscent of other fragrances, but to me, it's an amazing composition, almost like walking into a fragrance store at the world's fanciest mall. All these varying and contrasting accords hitting you at once, yet it smells so sophisticated and inviting. It's just such a shame that Dior stopped production of Eau for Men, because I think it was one of their most successfully-blended fragrances for men. Not only was the scent profile a stunner, the performance was quite nice for an eau de toilette, at some points surpassing 8 hours of longevity and a nice 3-foot sillage, and it could be used in a variety of situations, from date night to office. It's wholly non-offensive and yet simeltaneously attractive. I enjoyed wearing it so much that less than a quarter of the fragrance was left in the bottle when I found out about the discontinuation. Now, I'm being extremely particular about using it, choosing only perfectly-matching occasions for it. But oh...how much I still crave it, even after testing (probably) hundreds of niche and independent fragrances. I'm trying to find a good alternative - Prada L'Homme is similar yet soapier and while gorgeous, not as iris-forward or as complex as Eau for Men. Oh, well. I'll just have to be frugal as f*ck with this for the rest of my life.

Perfumer: François Demachy Dior Homme Eau for Men is a modern and versatile variation on the classic DNA of the Dior Homme line. With a fresher, cleaner and more direct touch, this fragrance stands out for the way it balances sophistication and lightness, keeping the iconic iris note as the protagonist — but in a softer and airier way. Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Grapefruit and Coriander, the opening is citrusy, lively and slightly spicy. Grapefruit and bergamot bring a sparkling freshness, while coriander injects a subtle green and aromatic touch. Its clean, discreet and well-constructed presence makes it a perfect choice for those who enjoy sophisticated perfumes, but which do not need to be intense or dense. It is a perfect bridge between the classic luxury of iris and contemporary urban lightness.

I am absolutely love Iris note and I also love Dior Homme Line in particular. However, Iris is not what I will reach to daily as it can easily be scheezy and particular Dior Homme is a bit warm consider weather in my country. I wear Iris when I need to feel smooth and clean, but It does take a mild consideration in additional. This is not a case with Dior Homme Eau for Men, to my surprise. This is extremely fresh Iris with additional mild sweetness that very enjoyable (I think It's pear). When first applied, Eau is very muted. But it greeting you with Smooth Aquatic Iris later on shortly. And from that It become stronger in Iris but it is so clean and refreshing. The sweetness still remains and iris is bloom. It is not develop any further after that but when it dried down, it is provide (irisy-)clean ambient that very appropriate for male user. This one, this is one smooth Iris that you can wear daily. I thought this will be on par with Prada L'Homme L'eau. No..Big mistake, I compare to Prada L'Homme L'eau and It is much sweeter but in synthetic manner, like crisp clean linen. (I can notice Aldehyde right after while compare) and the L’eau is dry and sharp in cool weather unlike Eau that still smell like smooth skin across hot / cold weather. If you looking for smooth Iris frag that can be wear daily. Go for this you won't be sad. Another plus it work among all weather, hot or cold. Longevity is extraordinary consider the scent as freshie. Plus, it do project nicely during the wear. I drop here another 10/10.. masterpiece absolute freshie. (Another 3 x 100 ml. back up USD 90/bottle for reference).. While I definitely agree, once a fragrance is discontinued there's a romanticized era that can follow. However, I do think Dior Homme Eau for Men is special. I blame covid for it being discontinued. It obviously didn't sell well enough for LVMH whom owns Dior - to keep making it. Plus, it doesn't help Eau For Men came out during the Sauvage Renaissance, so thats going to be hard to compete. So why is Dior Homme Eau for Men amazing? & why do I beg Dior/LVMH or another parent company to make something similar? Because while many other iris scents exist, none of them are fitting for intense heat. Especially with modern mens Dior removing itself from iris dominance under Francis Kurkdjian. . . Dior Homme Eau For Men, is iris heavy & citrus. So many amazing Iris scents exist but are either cold weather fitted or a 4 season that doesnt excel in extreme heat Nothing on the market is citrus & iris. Prada L'homme EDT/Prada L'homme L'eau - both lovely but are not citrus dominant & lean into ginger/powder than airy citrus. Gentlemen EDT Intense Givenchy (also owned by LVMH) is a great cold weather version but still lacks citrus. Its 3 season at best! Gucci Guilty Eau 2015 (Discontinued) sorta was but was a sour citrus not crisp like Dior Eau. Amouge Reflection has a similar dry down but lacks the crisp airy citrus. More aromatics/floral Kagamigoshi édit(h), a lovely Japanese brand comes close but is too sweet/cloying & has spices Dior Homme Eau didn't have. Its insane that no brand has even tried replacing this DNA, im certain if this released today it'd sell incredibly. Iris is considered antiquated but its presentation in Dior Homme Eau for Men was youthful but mature. It was new age perfumery meets old & is truly amazing. Anyone reading who has say for fragrance brands, heed the comments below, we want a citrus/iris warm weather champion back!

My favourite fragrance of all time. The opening is citrusy and clean, a backbone of cedar and the effervescent grapefruit are gently shrouded in iris. This is not immensely powdery but it is still recognisably a Dior Homme fragrance. It dries into a soft and sexy ambery scent still with the beautiful iris core. This is by far the most versatile and complimented fragrance in my collection, I was saving ~5ml left from an old bottle and I struck gold. I found a 100ml tester on ebay for a good price and immediately bought it. I will wear this to all weddings and get togethers in future. I cannot begin to recommend this enough, it really is just perfect in every sense. This is a more spring time and summery fragrance but in the right circumstances it could be worn all year round. This really shines in summer by the way. This fragrance projects. Well. Strong projection for easily 4 hours and dries to a softer projection for the rest of the duration. This fragrance has an amazing sillage, a cloud of this will trail behind you which will just make everyone around you adore your scent. I get around 8-9 hours on skin but this sticks to clothing like some of the densest fragrances I own. This is best worn out of the shower and sprayed before putting a shirt on. Speaking of spray, the atomiser like all Dior fragrances sprays a generous dosage of fragrance and therefore I will only wear 3-5 sprays max (also because I will never find another bottle of this). This really is just perfect on my skin, all I could hope for in a fresh fragrance, versatile, sexy and effortless. I doubt Dior will release anything which tops this in my eyes. I am very upset this is discontinued as if I could only ever wear one fragrance again it would be this. RIP DHE, I long for your return.

This fragrance was my introduction to the Dior Homme line, so it is a significant fragrance in my collection. The Dior Homme line is probably my favorite designer line of fragrances and I own all the old iris formulation, having multiple bottles of each. Dior Homme Eau takes the foundation of Dior Homme Edt, but makes it more aromatic and it has some modern fougere qualities to it which gives it a traditional masculine "cologne" smell. It smells clean and well put together and it is my office signature scent for that reason. I notice a lot of people compare this to Prada L'homme and although that is a good fragrance, it is not as close as the votes make it seem. Prada L'homme has that screechy violet note with the super powdery and soapy iris that almost smells like cleaning products on my skin. Dior Homme Eau has a clean smell to it, but it is not a sharp clean smell because it still has that buttery/creamy Dior Homme iris base and I do not think this fragrance smells like any other. I truly believe the closest thing is Dior Homme Original. It is a shame it is discontinued, but luckily I have bought multiples bottles within the last few years. I am surprised people are buying this for $200+ now because this fragrance was heavily underrated back then and I was able to buy so many bottles for $80-100. Everyone loved Dior Homme intense, parfum, and even the original, but Homme Eau got no love. I will own and wear this fragrance for the rest of my life! It will forever be my office signature scent and it brings back memories to starting my career 5 years ago, post college, and working my first office job. 10/10

Today I got my hands on this baby: 50ml of a 2015 batch. It has the yellow juice, so I was a little dissapointed at first sight, as there are some photos with blue juice. Well, I think that it is only a matter of the aesthetic or presentation of the fragrance, so it doesn't matter in relation of the aroma. So, here is my review: The fragrance is really, really beautiful: it opens with a burst of citruses and grapefruit, I instantly reminded the grapefruit of D&G's The One EDP (I'm not saying that these are similar, just the grapefruit note is similar). Then, after some minutes I can smell that beautiful iris that only Dior works that well, it persist across the ending of the fragrance. Later on, I get some powdery notes very close to the skin, it makes me feel very clean of skin and clothes. I only own Prada L'homme Intense, not the EDT, so I can't say they are similar, but I can say that the iris in this fragrance is something else. The projection in the first two hours is very solid, after that I get some powdery whiffs very close to the skin. The duration is very good for an EDT: I applied it several times during the morning, but the last time it was around 4 pm. Currently, it is 11:50 pm and I still can get some sniffs of that powdery notes. To me, it is an awesome fragrance to wear at warmer days, but you could also use it at anytime as your signature scent. Too bad it is discontinued, so I am going to use on special occasions, or just when I feel that the occasion calls to it. If Prada L'homme EDT is similar to this, it must be very very good. Stunning work of François Demanchy, 10/10.

This is a lovely iris scent that remains fresh and powdery, without being lipsticky, which I still like. But I live in the Midwest where the high temp on this summer day is in the 90s, so sometimes the lipstick scents can get cloying. This avoids that. The coriander, citrus, and amber are nice and make this fresh and classy at the same time. My only problem is that I go nose blind to this, whereas others can smell it on me while I think it has left. I guess it’s not a huge problem, but I love it and want to enjoy it for myself :’) Someone mentioned getting a vibe of Chanel Platinum Egoiste in the dry down, and I concur that I also got a whiff of something that reminded me of it. Dior Homme Eau is definitely a different scent, and eventually that whiff disappeared and DHE went on to evolve to something that I prefer over Chanel PE (another scent people smell on me that I thought disappeared). Since this is discontinued, and not my favorite Dior release, I don’t reach for it often. I still enjoy it very much, and have received many surprising compliments on it. So I’m going to wear it sparingly from time to time (I bought it unopened off Mercari a few months ago). Update 02/24/22 - This has actually turned into a love! Must have needed time wearing it as well as the bottle needed some time. I actually get good longevity out of this now. And the scent is definitely fresh, but also very versatile. Elegant without being uptight. Quite beautiful. Just bought another bottle for backup. 😊 🥀

An absolute masterpiece of a light and powdery Iris. Does what it says on the tin and as long as that’s all you expect from it you’ll be satisfied. Won’t overpower a room, but it’s strong enough that you’ll get whiffs of it yourself, and so will those within arms reach. Unfortunately I didn’t work my way around to this until after it was discontinued (why???), but just had an old 50ml arrive today. My wife’s been around my frag habit plenty enough, and even so, an hour after putting it on she remarked, “you smell nice.. what is that?” It’s not going to blow the doors off anyone, it’s not going to be the first smell of your favorite Tauer, Papillon, or any other niche/indie frag. What it is is pleasant, calming, and confident. It is the smell of someone who at least on the outside is put together and comfortable around others in their own skin. All I can say of this fragrance—oddly enough—is that it is the type of clean sheet/fresh laundry type fragrance that I wished to god Kurkdjian had in his own line, and hope he can figure out somehow now that he has the reins at Dior. This is designer fragrance at its height.

DHI started my love for fragrances around 10 years ago, since then i have always been drawn to the Dior Homme lineup. When dior homme eau for men was released I remember always testing it whenever I went to the shopping center , even though I loved it I have no idea why I didn't purchase it at that time. Since then I have gone deeper into the niche world of fragrances , maybe feeling I had moved on from designers. Anyway I recently had a chance to buy a 100ml bottle, wow its just as great as I remember and it goes to show that this really is a gem of a fragrance ( can't believe Dior would discontinue this after such a short time ). I'm not the best at describing notes but it smells really classy, a little powdery with a masculine edge, I feel it could be warn in all occasions and weather conditions so perfect for a signature scent. This fragrance has lasting power, 3 sprays and 8 hours later I still feel a scent cloud around me when I move my head . I guess the big negative is that its no longer available in high street stores but I would recommend obtaining at least one bottle while there is a chance.

I finally got ahold of this fragrance today...feels like it's been forever since I've smelled...love. (besides my DHI of course) It definitely smells a LOT like "Prada - L'homme" but without the stinging, choking note that makes my eyes water and my nose run. (Still don't know which note in L'homme does it...but I can't stand it) Dior definitely does this soapy easygoing fragrance type MUCH better than Prada does. I'll definitely be picking up a large-size bottle next month to go with this smaller one. Originally I thought that this would smell a lot like my DH-2020 based on the notes, but it's much smoother and less scratchy to the nose. Even though DHE has multiple citrus notes, it doesn't burn my nose at all!! DH-2020 is overly nose-bitingly citrusy while DHE is smooth, well composed and acceptably built...and it very obviously is of the original pure Dior "Polge" bloodline. @sea2sky and @TheLanciFan : Thank you both so much for making my choice clear...I absolutely love this fragrance (DHE)! 2024 UPDATE: Had to learn how to make this now that it's discontinued. My clone has saved me.

DIOR BRING THIS MASTERPIECE BACK PLEASE! Dior Homme Eau for Men is by far the most versatile of the line in my opinion, while retaining the beating heart of the Dior Homme Line. THAT BEAUTIFUL IRIS. I'd be happy wearing this to the office to a formal event to a date, in the spring time in the summertime, in the fall. This has a culmination of every good thing from all of my personal favorite fragrances of the line all in one. You get a refreshing citrus opening with a slight spice from the coriander and the beautiful creamy, smooth iris in the middle to add that soft yet masculine touch that this line is known for and cedar wood at the base to tie it all together. this is easily the most wearable flanker that has Iris so me being an iris lover. I really appreciate this fragrance, although sadly because it is discontinued I don't wear it as much as I wish I could. That being said I really hope that Dior can bring this masterpiece back. I personally think that it fits even with all of the other flankers currently available. A MUST HAVE FOR ANY DIOR HOMME IRIS LOVER

Dior Homme Eau for Men is lovely; its a potent iris & citrus blast - not overly sweet but a nice crisp, tart, freshness. Its opening has the DNA of the MODERN Homme line (think the non-iris EDT 2020) with coriander; yet within minutes that homme DNA & coriander dissipates & a very powerful iris remains. Iris is interesting because its floral, powdery, waxy or the famous "lipstick" smell - for me iris either goes powdery or "inky," best way to describe it. . . This is a very inky, masculine, iris thats lightly powdery, floral but has a crisp bite to it. As others have said, its very similar to Gentlemen Givenchy Intense EDT (made by Givenchy also owned by LVMH, like Dior) but Eau for Men is much lighter & crisp. . . The density of the iris is the same, thankfully! However its the closest clone in the market & will satisfy those wanting the same DNA but NOT the same airy crispness. . . I still prefer Eau for Men since its got a freshness with it that last the entire duration, its very lovely. Shame its discontinued.

This fragrance will forever remembered as my first love I took for granted especially when I discovered that it was discounted. No men’s iris fragrance has giving me the distinctly clean, powdery yet masculine experience that this close range assassin gives! Considering the notes, neither of the citrus are overpowering which is a usual expectation in top note. you do get coriander but honestly, the star of the show is the Tuscan iris. It is felt and heard from beginning to end and I think it’s magical how such a floral fragrance can feel confidently manly. Personally, I used it as my initiate date fragrance because it always led to heads on my shoulder and longer hugs. The disadvantage is it is light. Definitely the “nice guy” and although, currently, there are some solid alternative in the sense of range (Prada l’homme for sweeter, Givenchy Gentleman Boise for woodsy, etc.) Dior Homme Eau is an experience of its own that seems to be hard to replicate elsewhere. I firmly recommend paying the bill for a decant.

Why are discontinued fragrances hyper romanticized? The reaction to a fragrance’s release compared to its discontinuation should be studied because with all these “masterpiece” comments, I wonder why that wasn't the reception years ago when this came out. Anyways, great scent. Not sure if the grapefruit in mine went flat as it smells of hardcore coriander if anything. I was thinking, with all the reformulations at Dior... would we welcome a reworked Dior Homme Eau (let’s leave the for men out)? I hear you on this being a masterpiece but.... could this be reformulated in a way were its a bit fresher, maybe longer lasting and slightly more versatile? Fresh enough for college presentation, professional enough for the office, sexy enough to pull compliments at the grocery store. It’ll have a slight twist to the presentation with a frosted glass bottled fading into clear. Translucent aqua blue juice similar to before. The real question is, would we keep the iris or follow DH 2020’s direction?

This is one of my all-time favorite fresh fragrances. I love it so much that I bought two backup bottles before its discontinuation, tracked down another on eBay, and still feel like it’s not enough!It utilizes such high-quality ingredients that it smells slightly niche. It opens incredibly bright and fresh with bergamot and grapefruit, giving it a sparkling, effervescent feel on the skin. At the heart, you get that signature, waxy Dior Homme iris, perfectly balanced with coriander for a beautiful touch of earthiness. As it dries down, it settles into a smooth, woody cedar base that gives it decent longevity. This isn't a safe blind buy, but if you love the classic, lipsticky iris DNA of the original, you will absolutely adore this. It is quite hard to find at a good price these days. If you haven't tried the modern Dior Homme Original, I highly recommend that one instead as it’s much more accessible and makes a phenomenal addition to any collector's wardrobe.

Am I the only one who gets a coconutty type of vibe? I think it's the amber and some of the other notes playing off of each other that creates that vibe, but it's not an official note. This is the Dior Homme I would most closely associate with being a signature scent for the spring time, whereas the Cologne would be better for the summer, the original for the fall and the Intense or Parfum for the winter, although I think that's a bit narrow to say that. I think all of the Dior Homme variants are actually very versatile and easy to pull off in at least 2 or 3 seasons. I won't do a full review for this yet, but it's a terrific fragrance and I'm sad that it's discontinued. I was lucky enough to pick one up for a good price. It is similar to Prada L'Homme, but it's more powdery and less citric than that - think somewhere in between L'Homme and the original Dior Homme and you've got this!

What can I say ? WOW ! This is an amazing fragrance ! I like it better than any other Dior fragrance I have had or sampled to date. Clean, dry iris without the extra powderiness of its older siblings. That makes it more versatile and office safe in my opinion. Almost every time I wear it , I get a compliment or two and I mean not just the "You smell good" compliments but serious, unsolicited ones. It has an aura of class and sophistication matched by few and smells clean and expensive. I had people of both genders chasing me downstairs in the office, asking me what I'm wearing that smells so good ! Correctly expecting that Dior would discontinue this gem, I scored a back up bottle for about $80 and I'm so glad I did. This is blind buy worthy in my opinion if you can still find it online at a reasonable price. A masterpiece we may not see the likes of which ever again from Dior !
