Dior Homme Original

Dior Homme Original est une sorte synthèse entre Dior Homme Intense version 2011 en plus portable, et se rapproche plus de Dior Homme 2005 : il a le sillage et la tenue de l'eau de toilette et dans les grandes lignes la combinaison inversée de Dior Homme Intense. l'Iris est plus travaillée que dans le DHI susnommé, le Vetiver n'est quasi pas en soi perceptible par temps chaud hormis le côté boisé de fond, bien plus perceptible par temps plus frais et rappelle le vetiver de Bel Ami Vetiver, la cardamome en note moyenne se substitue à la poire et à l'ambrette. C'est beaucoup plus homogène et linéaire. On n'a plus le passage Vetiver lavande au bout de quelques heures avant l'émergence de la poire du DHI. Parfois on ressent comme du cacao puis du cuir: certains pensent que la description faite par Dior est stylisée et que certaines notes de la précédente version sont présentes, d'autres s'appuient sur la description. Demachy est assez génial pour faire apparaître des notes par le travail d'autres notes entre elles : le cacao pourrait être le fruit de la proximité entre l'iris et la cardamome. Il avait recomposé une sorte de citron confit par la confrontation bergamote Elemi dans Eau Sauvage Parfum et ainsi obtenu une eau citronnée de longue tenue. Selon moi, l'Iris travaillée à la marge par l'aspect épicé de la Cardamome, le tout soutenu par du Vetiver "propre" est une description assez factuelle de l'eau de toilette. Certains se plaignent du manque de sillage ou de longévité: le sillage très présent dure deux heures comme si vous portiez l'ancien DHI en un peu plus léger, puis le caractère plus confidentiel s'installe sur une durée totale d'environ six à dix heures, voire douze heures selon le climat et la peau. Quoi qu'il en soit, la présente version est plus aboutie malgré la simplicité affichée, plus portable selon les occasions et au cours de l'année. Il y a le meilleur des précédentes versions. Cela explique les évaluations très élevées de cette eau et en tant qu'eau de toilette. Le dépassement du millier de votes permettra d'établir son statut de meilleure eau de toilette disputé avec La Nuit de l'Homme Bleu Électrique. Nota Bene L'essence d'Iris est plus lourde: secouer le flacon avant d'asperger l'eau de toilette. Pure delight, and together with the Dior Homme Intense (2011), for me it's tied for top place among the whole family of Dior Hommes. Too bad it's not available in North America; I'm getting mine from France. This Original might be the better everyday workhorse for me (this is an extremely fine and elegant workhorse, mind), and the Intense probably has more wow-factor for evenings and nights, but by no means is this hard and fast—I go back and forth. I can't stop sniffing myself when I wear this. I should also say that this one really needs skin chemistry to shine; it doesn't smell the same on paper or out of the bottle, and I don't recommend spraying it on clothes. (I never recommend spraying any fragrances on clothes actually—they always need skin chemistry to come alive.) This is really lovely though, from the warm iris opening to the lingering buttery drydown. Blissful. I should say that I appreciate everything in this line. I think of the various Dior Homme releases like this: if Cologne is the gin and tonic on a hot summer day, then Dior Homme (2020) is like a sparkling rosé; Sport is like sangria; Eau for Man is the beaujolais; OG is the burgundy; Intense is the bordeaux; and Parfum is that exquisite Hermitage La Chapelle that needs an hour in the decanter to open up properly before you can really taste it. It's not that one release is better than another; instead, they each stand on their own, in different situations and contexts. Sometimes, you want a g&t with your hors-d'œuvres; but sometimes you're serving up roast chicken—or pâté and saucisson sec, or ratatouille, or dauphinoise potatoes, or rack of lamb—and something else will be much better suited. And you don't have to give up wine with dinner just because you had a cocktail beforehand, or forgo a good martini before supper starts just because you know a good Côtes-du-Rhône is gonna be on the table. That having been said, I probably get the most mileage out of the OG (burgundy) for everyday wear, and the Intense (bordeaux) for evenings and nights. But I've always been caught between burgundy and bordeaux—and I'd happily defy popular wisdom and drink a good bloody mushroomy violet-laced pinot with my tomahawk steak, or a full-bodied velvety bordeaux with my roast chicken, anyday. Well, every other day. :)

(2E01, May 2022 batch) I live in Thailand, so this is very hard to find either DiorHomme 2011 or DiorHomme Original. We do have Dior Homme Intense (Iris) but it is so Intense and Overwhelming. Very Cocoa heavy, bloom. So I decide not to buy Dior Homme Intense. It is not really suitable for Hot-Humid Environment like us. I am lucky to find one Dior Homme Orignal at a reasonable price. This is what I am looking for about his Dior Homme DNA. It is Iris heavy, Lipsticky. but It lights and that Cocoa is more like sweet powdery Cocoa. Lite enough for everyday use. Longevity: 7 hours Projection: Closer to the skin 9/10 ===== Day after I got this, surprisingly I also got Dior Homme 2011 (2013 batch). 5 ml. less and price is a little bit expensive than Dior Homme Original. I think there is a little difference in composition after do a paper test. This is much more Iris forward, one aspect and a bit more powdery / cocoary (?) Don't get me wrong but whole composition is taken by Heavier powdery feel. Dior Homme 2011 have much more other nuance to play along the way. Like, white flower element, Citrus element, Spicy element. (10-15% more) These aspect are not show heavily in Dior Homme Original. But, Iris is a bit less prominent (5% something) that Dior Homme Original. Iris in Older Dior Homme develop 1 - 1.5 hours after application. I would say the difference is around 10-20%, if you got a good deal in older year. You could spear one, but If not - you can go with Dior Homme Original just fine. I would give both Dior Homme 2011 and Dior Homme Original the same score. But I would use these in Difference propose. If It is a bit hotter I will wear Dior Homme 2011 If It is a bit colder I will wear Dior Homme Original (Consider as Weather in South East Asia country) Performance Wise, I found Dior Homme Original slightly better performer (at 7 hours). Dior Homme 2011 is around 6 hours mark with closer projection and turn skinscent more quickly. For best performer, you should look at Dior Homme Intense

Dior Homme Original is Dior’s answer to the thousands of prayers by the fans of the original Dior Homme, post the discontinuation in 2020. I am fortunate to own both Dior Homme Original and a bottle of the original Dior Homme from 2017, and I’ve noticed few subtle differences between the two. Upon initial application of Dior Homme Original, it immediately evokes memories of the original Dior Homme. There are differences, however, unless sprayed side by side, the differences are subtle and negligible. In my experience, Dior Homme Original is a lighter version of the 2011 Dior Homme. It is notably fresher than Dior Homme Intense and Dior Homme Parfum (2014). Upon application, the iris takes center stage, while the remaining notes enhance its presence. Dior Homme Original opens with a touch of bergamot, making it fresher than other offerings in the line. However, I perceive a hint of lavender in the original DH, which is absent in Dior Homme Original. In the middle phase, the bergamot fades, allowing cacao and cardamom to take over, with a stronger emphasis on cacao. In its final phase, as a skin scent, it emerges as a floral, musky fragrance. This is where it differs the most from the original DH, which was characterized by a combination of chocolatey and woody skin scent. My bottle is of the batch 9B02, dating back to February 2025. The projection is moderate, and the fragrance becomes a skin scent by the 5-hour mark, which is disappointing. The original Dior Homme lasted throughout the day and had monstrous projection off of my skin. This may be attributed to maceration, as my 2017 bottle is 8 years old at this point and it is also worth mentioning that the juice color is significantly darker. Regardless, Dior Homme Original is a suitable option for those who appreciate the original DNA but do not possess an original bottle. Due to its inferior performance and projection, I rate Dior Homme Original 7/10 (compared to the original’s 9/10 rating).

I don’t think I can add much not already said here. Just a quick breakdown of what I think about this with respect to other scents in the DH line. DHI emphasises the darker, sweeter, juicier qualities of DHO, as well as actually slightly amping up the iris. It is a bit less complex than the original but still lovely, and more suitable for evening wear than DHO. It overall has the feel of a sweet, dark, almost gothic, velvety iris DHP is the driest, emphasising the slightly smoky leather note which is quite muted in DHI actually, and subtly present in DHO. It’s also woodier and overall the most traditionally “masculine” of all 3. DHO is somewhere between those much-lauded flankers. It’s drier and a little less sweet than DHI, but doesn’t have quite as much leather as DHP. It has more of the cacao and vetiver than DHI as well. It’s like the cacao note in DHO is more of a dry cocoa powder, whereas in DHI it comes across more like smooth chocolate. These are all lovely fragrances, but so far, despite its lower tenacity and diffusiveness, I prefer DHO - it has the most complexity and develops the most overtime. The elements around the iris are more prominent than in DHI, and it’s more original than DHP (which is still a fantastic fragrance). I would recommend all of these to any fragrance enthusiast - they are nothing less than some of the best masculine scents on the market. To briefly comment on DH2020 - totally different thing to any of the above, but actually contrary to what most fragrance snobs think, it’s still a very nice fragrance. It’s not distinctive at all, but it is very well made, and as far as woody-patchouli scents go, it’s still one of the best out there. It’s a great scent for someone who’s just getting into fragrances and isn’t ready to try anything more bold and still wants to wear something very high quality.

I seldom talk about this beauty, but it’s special. A rarity on this side of the Atlantic, it’s François Demachy’s 2021-updated version of his own 2011 reorchestration of the modern masterpiece from 2005 by Olivier Polge. Confusing? Yeah, it’s well established that Dior screwed the pooch in its masculine nomenclature. The only listed notes are, from top to bottom: Tuscan iris -> Guatemalan cardamom -> Haitian vetiver. The European flower, the Mesoamerican spice, and the Caribbean root definitely constitute the bone structure of the thing, even though we know that many other materials are in play. For instance, the bright opening includes lavender and bergamot and sage; the sumptuous mid includes toasted cacao beans without ever evoking anything edible (this is resolutely *not* a gourmand); and the sensuous, earthy, and slightly ambery dry-down is achieved through the use of patchouli and leather, in addition to an ethereal vetiver. I have nothing else that is remotely like this juice on my shelf. I can see how disruptive this must’ve been in 2005, when masculine fragrance was going in another direction entirely. It’s sexy and smooth in a gender-bending sort of way. Of course today we take this sort of thing for granted, what with all the sickly sweet gourmands and spicy vanillics that vie for attention in a sea of woody-amber aromachem bombs. Case in point, Dior Homme’s more popular flankers (in their current formulations): DH Intense and DH Parfum. I find the Original to be leagues better, in a separate category entirely, both in composition and feel. Love to use this on workdays but I get the most out of it in formal evening gigs and date nights with my SO. I’m wearing it today because I have to be seductive at work... in a political sort of way.

I did a blind buy for this, even though this was not at all recommended for this one. I am new to fragrances and had recently purchased Club de Nuit Intense man EdP and Terre d'Hermès EdT, which are both citrussy, spicy, woody fragrances. Even though both are very different, they're still in the same realm, so to speak. Unfortunately both are not very suitable for the winter, which is where DH comes in. Smelling this the first time was kinda shocking, as it didn't even smell like a fragrance someone would wear, at first during the opening. It was so far removed from all the fragrances I was used to (mainly on others). I had also purchased Armafs Odyssey together with DH, which was, I noticed, in the same realm as DH, but much more spicy, and better suited for the evening. I little fear came up, as I started to feel that maybe this particular new realm wasn't for me at all. I decided I should wait for the dry down and take some time getting used to this, before shaping my mind towards habitual aversion. I started to notice that when you smell just a faint whiff of this, it does something completely different to me, compared to digging my nose into this. It brings up feelings of being together and of warmth. Of being indoors with family. Might be very personal, as it could well be an old association I have with some aspects of this fragrance. Therefore, the biggest con that the AI system had recognized in the comments: "May not have strong concentration or longevity", had suddenly turned into a pro for me. I would never want to be overwhelmed by this kind of smell, I want to be seduced by the slightest whiff of this. Only that way it hooks on a more emotional level. Well, for me, at least...

In case anyone is still confused as I was prior to researching....here is a brief summary of Dior Homme's evolution: Keep in mind that this Dior Homme Original is a 2021 "re"release of the 2011 release. 1. Originally released in 2005, the first formulation of this iconic fragrance was a creation attributed to perfumer (Olivier Polge). It’s an absolute gem of a fragrance; sweet and powdery, with a beautifully prominent buttery iris accord that gives it so much character and makes it a somewhat prized addition to the collections of fragrance fans worldwide. 2. In 2011, the fragrance was reformulated by Dior’s chief perfumer (Francois Demachy). This second iteration of Dior Homme still cited the same ingredient list, but something was different about it. It wasn’t bad, though. Not by any stretch. 3. In 2020, the fragrance went through yet another reformulation but this time the recipe was markedly different which created major complaints amongst Dior Homme lovers. 4. Circa 2021, comes the release of Dior Homme Original, meaning the re-release of the 2011 reformulation, NOT 2005 (as a fellow frag enthusiast pointed out to me). The review: A powdery, classy, unique, & elegant creation that is very similar to the 2011 DH. Only very subtle differences for a bit more of a modern feel while staying very close. Easier to wear than Dior Homme Intense, so can easily be a signature fragrance, (although I love DHI as well). The Cardamom and Vetiver gives just enough sweetness and edge to make this one of the most complete fragrances I have ever come across. I consider this the go to if Dior Homme Parfum is too heavy, and Dior Homme Intense is too sweet for you. A true masterpiece. Hope this helped

Just bought a full bottle, after trying dozens of fragrances. There's nothing like this one. The Iris fragrances I tried, either go sugary/sweet (DHI, Le Male Parfum, the Valentino's, the Gentleman's...), or gets clean to the point of being a bit bland imo (like Prada L'Homme line). Here, you get the best of both world : It's sweet, sensual, warm, inviting. But it's also clean, elegant, bright. It's perfect for the man who don't want something too sweet and "perfumy", but also don't want something too clean and formal. I can portray an elegant and mysterious man who gives a wink and bring light in a room with a smile, and suddenly go back to his Stoic demeanor. If that makes sense. Really appreciate the fact that this fragrance represent a personality and can match with a lot of men who are introvert/elegant/with good demeanor etc... You know what I'm talking about. For the scent itself, I think almost everybody knows it now. Very powdery in the opening, then it opens and you get a dry Iris with the cardamom, which I think makes this cacao note. And you get a slight touch of freshness in the back with the vetiver who is also dry and clean. Evolves until the late drydown, never linear, and perfectly balanced. I was afraid of the performance. But for the new bottle that I opened today, with 4 sprays (2 on the neck, 2 on my right arm to test the fragrance) I still get whiffs of it 12 hours later, and on my arm you still smell it easily. The projection is never loud, but it's continuous, it creates a small bubble around the wearer for hours. So projection and longevity are satisfying, especially for an Eau de Toilette, in 2023. Still in the pinnacle of perfumery. 10/10

The fragrance that made me make an account on this website just to review it. I think I have used closely to half a liter of Dior Homme EdT/Original in the last 10 years. It's a scent that is like a second skin te me. What an absolutely beatiful creation. Good note for the people on the edge of buying it; I don't detect any significant differences in my most recent bottle (2021 bottle with 'Original' inscription), in comparison to one of the earliest I've had. Which I recall was from 2012. Scentwise: As mentioned 100 times before, creamy/powdery, make up like iris. Say after 90 minutes the scent really starts to change. I don't know what's up with fragrance houses only showing three notes all of a sudden, but there is so much more to this. After a few hours of wearing, I get a very strong lavender and cacao taking over. This phase lasts for a following 90 minutes, in which it turns to it's final dry down phase shall I say. It becomes a beautiful soft, ambery and cardamom skin scent. The whifts you get troughout the day are to die for! Crazy to say, but I prefer the original over all it's flankers. Olivier Polge has created an absolute masterpiece with Dior Homme, tho re-amped/redone by Demachy. A fragrance that will never turn outdated and will always be in style. This fragrances isn't loud. It makes it self known when you get near someone. Which completely suits it's sophisticated and alluring character. It has marked a significant time throughout my life, and can't imagine myself without it. Ten out of ten fragrance.

Here’s a tale of two Diors. Dior Homme Original (their name, and not my description), not to be confused with the plethora of Dior Homme fragrances between 2005 and 2022 that all bear the same name, and previous Dior Hommes. What’s “original” about Dior Homme if it’s been around this long? Well, infamous for reformulations just because--in 2020, both the bottle and the formula got a new design and out went the minimalism that Hedi Slimane spearheaded and Olivier Polge interpreted, and in came a more prominent logo and the omission of that dominant iris note, that lipsticky accord that Dior Homme was known for. Apparently, there was enough backlash from consumers feeling that a bait and switch was in order to warrant some backpedaling. And so this roll-back became the 2021-2022 flanker known as Dior Homme Original. Which seemed like a mea culpa to make up for the Dior Homme Oops Edition, the Dior Homme Sorry We Realized You Noticed flanker, resulting in the Dior Homme Please Give Us Another Chance release. How is it? It’s good. The Iris is back, but not exactly as it was in the 2013 release, which is most similar to the 2005 edition. It’s lighter, softer, but closer to what it was than the 2020 needless makeover. I’m glad to have it because it’s another branch from the Dior Homme tree that’s closer but not quite, yet close enough to keep the pitchforks and torches tucked away. Regarding vintages and earlier formulas, enjoy what you have while you have it.

When DH2020 came out, I rejected it (never having smelled any in the line) because it was just boring and unappealing. After getting a sample of DHI in 2021, I liked but not loved. Slowly but surely I became a convert and was addicted to DHI. Now within a couple of months I have DHO, DHI, DHP and I LOVE them all! DHO...just beautiful. It is the lightest and most versatile of the DH iris line. Since it's summer right now, it shines the brightest. Opens with (of course) signature iris powder and settles fairly quickly to a dry down that really rivals or surpasses DHI. I guess it is the cardamom mixed extremely well with vetiver that gives it almost a light vanilla-ish, creamy, faint earthy violet dry down. A truly unique offering which is sadly (I mean sadly) wasted by the weak performance. I agree with all the other comments, the projection and longevity are abysmal for such an awesome fragrance. On me, it settles to a skin scent after 2h and faintly detectable after 6h. Still, I am glad that Dior brought it back into production (although a pain to obtain if you live in N. America). I don't see how people choose their favorites in this line. They all have their applications and I really don't see overlap or redundancy by owning DH - O/I/P. @RjAvanza it's always possible to get a fake off eBay. To my knowledge, mine is authentic, and the DHO does not have an etched bug inside of the cap. Scent 10/10 Projection 5/10 Longevity 5/10

I got this on eBay the summer before last to have it ready for the colder months . It blew me away because comparing it to my 2015 bottle it has more Iris in the opening and seemed to be creamier which I absolutely love. The longevity wasn’t bad it lasted 4 hours on my skin and the projection wasn’t crazy . I only used this two or three times when I first Got it of course to try it out of excitement, but mainly to let air in the bottle so it could start to macerate . I recently worked at this a few time over thanks giving break and I could smell it moving all around me . I love how heavy the Iris is in the opening and how it’s prominent, even in the dry down. It blends beautifully with the cardamom and vetiver which make it slightly earthy, citrusy and spicy . There are other notes in there also but I like how Dior kept it simple . This is a very sharp, and elegant fragrance. I’m amazed at how long this one lasts on my skin now . I can smell this one all night although it doesn’t project crazy but as long as I can smell it that’s all that matters ! It stays on my skin just as long as DHI but the projection is not as strong . This is a masterpiece and if you are a DH fan I can guarantee you will love this one ! This is one of my favorites . The DH line is not known how well the projection is, it is known for being a beautiful scent especially for those intimate moments ! Its warm like a velvet blanket ! 10/10

That's the one. I remember trying some fragrances, last winter, and back home there was one that made me experience a Madeleine of Proust, the second I smelled it I was back in early 2000', 7-8 years old, going to Sephora and Douglas with my mother, her making me smell each perfume she tried. The odors, the colors ... The smell of the bag of my mother, with make up, chocolate, chewing gum, and so many other stuff. Life was beautiful, I miss it a lot. Coming back to last winter, I could not remember what I tried... Now, weeks ago, I tried DHI and thought it was amazing, and maybe that was the same smell ? Maybe in colder time it was different, or maybe the batch was different. This one was so hyped , it could only be the greatest, the one ! So I bought a 2018 batch of DHI, cause everyone spoked about it being reformulated. Maybe that in the store they had the older one in tester ? Nope, it was great, but still, not the scent I remembered. Until recently, when I tried Dior Homme Original. The velvety Iris, the cacao, the touch of cardamom... A work of art. I want this, always. The only downside, it's a shy fragrance, it doesn't projects a lot, it doesn't stays a lot. But I don't care, it's that good that I just don't care. 10/10

This stuff is amazing. The iris hits you straight away, and while not very outwardly projecting, it's strong enough. It's a very different iris to things like Prada L'Homme, but it's exactly the same iris as in Dior Homme Intense; which makes perfect sense. I find that Original and Intense have a very similar opening, but go their separate ways at the mid and onwards. Intense keeps that leathery, dark feel, but Original becomes very dusty, powdery, and like other people said "cacao"ey. A very sexy fragrance. I think you can definitely wear this at night, too. It plugs the Intense hole well. So while Original is good for day and night, Intense is only really good for the night. Definitely more of a cool-weather fragrance, because of how rich and dense it smells. Anyway, it's quite good. You'd have to find a really strange guy who wouldn't like this. But I still want to contrast this against Dior Homme 2020. 2020 is a completely different beast. It's something really different. I prefer Original, because it smells more unique, but I will wear 2020 over Original during summer, just because of how fresh 2020 is. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

Wearing one spray of this on one arm, with one spray of my older bottle on the other arm. I'm very happy to be able to say that I can't really detect any significant difference at all. This is indeed still the original Dior Homme. Thank god! My older bottle might be ever so slightly sweeter, but it could also be seen as ever so slightly "stale" by comparison, so I'm pretty sure this is mostly just about age and maceration rather than any actual difference in the fragrance itself. If anything, Dior Homme Original smells slightly more "fresh", but not in terms of being a more fresh scent but in terms of smelling like more fresh raw materials, which is also literally the case so it makes sense. A few hours in, and I'm not detecting any real difference in the drydown either. If I have to dig out some difference, maybe the new one is slightly more "sparkly" and effervescent in the powdery iris, while the old one is slightly more subdued and slightly more sweet. But the difference is really minimal. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU Dior for keeping this classic around and - as far as I can tell - untouched. It's still as good as ever, and I love it!

I bought two bottles on two different eshops - paid €88/€70 for 100ml, which is not bad. I love the DH line but probably wouldn't pick this up for retail (130 CHF). The eshops I bought from don't seem to have it anymore. I really like this, it has more iris than the original Homme but it's not as dark and aggressive as DHI or the Parfum. Deserves the super high rating, for me it's a very close second best after the Parfum in the Dior Homme line. I'd take this over DHI because the current formulation of DHI is just watered down (at least the one I had and returned because of this reason - couldn't compare to my 2017 bottle at all). Dior Homme Original is very distinctive and stands out (as do all the DH flankers), but it's very smooth and probably a safe office scent. Dior Homme 2020 is the king when it comes to being office safe, but it's a bit boring, although I like it too. The performance is not great, turns into a skin scent rather quickly, but the drydown is heavenly, so I don't mind at all. Lasts for maybe 5-6 hours total. If you can find a bottle and you like the DH DNA, get this, it's definitely worth it.

We all can appreciate art. We may have different interpretations but we will appreciate it nonetheless. Admittedly I am not the biggest fan of Iris—and I love & appreciate Dior Homme. Regretfully, I never smelled the 2011 version or versions that came before that. I love how the iris is done here... its not overbearing or complicated. Dior smooths this out with vetiver which makes it a bit more masculine leaning. The performance isn't the best. However, for the situations I would use it for I think I need 5 hours max... which this is cool for. Some people are addicted to the lipstick iris smell. Eh, its whatever to me. Yet, I still love this beautiful juice. Give it a shot! Dior makes well blended perfumery & I would consider this and Dior Home Intense both of niche quality. Highly recommend. Also, the Dior Homme Original can still be challenging to get from discounters. I recently paid $120 for mine from a trusted retailer on Ebay. Also, feel free to pm me if you’d like more details. Gorgeous fragrance and its such a shame its not available in the US for whatever reason. Perhaps poor sales, or iris frags are too challenging for Western consumers. I do very much enjoy Homme 2020, but it is an entirely different experience. If DHI is the night, then DHO is the day. Its lighter in all aspects. Frankly, I don't pick up much spice, but this dries into an airy, dusty cocoa powder. DHI is richer, creamier, sweeter, and maintains a sharp powder throughout. DHO is more wearable as an everyday type of signature. My only gripe is its performance. If it had more staying power this would be an easy 10/10 overall. Homme 2020 has excellent longevity for an EDT concentration. I can only hope Dior doesn't discontinue this entirely. Edit: For those in the USA this fragrance is available from Jomashop. Edit 2: This stuff is unfortunately very weak. Basically a skin scent for me after 30 minutes or so. No noticeable sillage, hardly any projection.

Gorgeous. The opening is maybe the best of any designer that I have come across. Clean, fresh and a sparkling iris that softy envelopes you in an extremely pleasant scent cloud. It’s addictive and entices you to continue to spray. It’s the easiest go to me. Given this is an EDT, one should not expect anything close to beastly performance, but I think it’s actually much better in terms of longevity than what other reviewers are suggesting. Although it’s seems to be a a fragrance that fades away somewhat quickly, I find I’ll get beautiful whiffs throughout the day if I have been moving around and generating a bit of body heat. For that reason, I think this is a tremendous fragrance to wear to the office, as it smells upscale, while at the same time maintaining a soft, clean and very comfortable profile. I’m hopeful that Dior continues to manufacture this amazing scent, even as an exclusive to Europe. 5/5

Ranking the Dior Hommes I've tried: 1. Dior Homme Original [2021] (fresh yet sweet, round, clean iris— simple perfection) 2. Dior Homme Intense (almost vanillicish-pearish-round smell, nice but sort of generic and overpowering the iris, the most "feminine" of the three) 3. Dior Homme Parfum (biting cough syrup component, the leather isn't a great quality leather so maybe that's the issue, too much clouding the iris, clunky) Dior Homme Original is the "weakest" of the three, but I'd rather re-spray and smell amazing than smell like the others more intensely/for longer. Fresh fragrances are almost always going to be less in your face, but I'm okay with embracing their fleeting nature, especially when they're as beautiful as Dior Homme Original. I get that the parfum is the most sought after by far, but to me, of those I've tried, this one is by far the best.

This is stunning. I can't believe they would substitute this beauty for the one-dimensional woody scent that is new Dior Homme. I've never smelt this one before, even though it's been around forever, and it's such a pleasant surprise. It's just like Dior Homme Intense, but lighter and with a slight sugary sweetness that is absent from the Intense version. If Dior Homme Intense is cocoa powder, then maybe this is white chocolate powder. It's so cool that such a soft scent was the main male offering from one of the biggest fashion houses in history for over a decade. I think if you are a man and wear this, you are very secure in your masculinity. This is not a scent you wear to amplify your masculinity, but rather one to counterpoint it, to add new dimension to it. This is someone who is relaxed, at peace with who they are and values beauty over dominance.

I was blown away when I finally smelled this one. It was better than I expected and I expected it be like the Dior Homme post 2020 . Yes it smells like Dior Homme but side by side they are different . This one opens up creamier than the old Dior Homme and maybe even more so than DHI as well . It is heavy on Iris as I hoped . As it dries down it has a nice light spiciness and earthiness to it from the vetiver, and cardamom. It is such a warm fragrance. On my skin i get good performance although it doesn’t last as long DHI but to be expected . This is a fragrance that is sexy and it’s supposed to sit close to the skin . I am gonna let mine age a little and use it on special occasions. I am one who over sprays and goes through fragrances fast and regrets it . I hope all DH fans are happy being that it felt like we took a loss when Dior 2020 came out !

Like most, the iris is what attracted me to this fragrance. On my skin it is the most apparent in the opening. Creamy, powdery, and airy off of the skin in the first 5-10 minutes. A bit more lipstick like in comparison to Dior Homme Intense. In the mid and dry down the iris begins to settle in and take a back seat. It begins to mix evenly with a masculine and traditional lavender and a dry warmth that projects maybe an arms length away. This is an amazing signature scent for anybody who wants to feel the classiness and elegance that this fragrance provides. More suited for day use but could work as a dressed up date night fragrance. This is a wonderful addition to my collection and it will certainly join my regular rotation along side its more playful and chocolaty flanker, Dior Homme Intense.

Absolute masterpiece! Is the exact fragrance that was sold back in the days to my nose and is simply perfect. A lighter version of Dior Homme intense wearable all year round. Is probably the best thing I have ever smelled and I can say that now I smelled quite a lot of things and I am building up a respectable collection. Classy, refined and perfectly balanced. The iris tend to be more sweet and less powdery (hence the cocoa note even if not listed anymore) and the leather at the base is more like a suede kind of leather with vetiver and patchouli balancing it out. For me is obviously a 10/10. The smell is sitting close and not projecting much but it is how it's supposed to be. It will draw people closer and give you a more gentlemanly bubble instead of a "in your face" kinda presence.

Lovely scent. About a year ago, I wrote a review defending the 2020 release/reformulation of Dior Homme, and while I still stand by those words, I understand the backlash now after trying this for a few days. I must say, I am a big fan. It's so quaint and gentle, yet daring compared to today's loud designer offerings. This must have felt revolutionary in 2005. The scent features Dior's signature Iris backed up by citrus, vetiver, and a unique cacao note. If you are familiar with Dior Homme Intense, this is like a more airy version of that. They are complimentary fragrances, in my opinion. My only gripe is the longevity, everything else is wonderful. I can only hope the original Homme Parfum gets similar treatment, but I'm doubtful that will happen with FK at the helm :(

One of the best, most artistic fragrances in my opinion. A true masterpiece and the originator of the iris trend in masculine fragrances that started after the market disruption caused by this (when it was called dior homme) in 2005. This was later replaced for another scent confusingly also called Dior Homme but thankfully Dior kept the original one around as it really is one of their best creations. Very high quality perfume that has a distinct powdery iris. Unmistakable. Lasts for a good amount of time but it is a relatively intimate scent after the first 2/3 hours. However the dry down is great , minimalistic but very pleasant. I have a 2025 batch and I also have a vintage Dior miniature sample. They are basically identical in scent and duration.

The greatest! I still have the original version with the silver stem that I bought in 2006 in Cyprus. I smelled Dior Homme the first time there and instantly got goose bumps so, I bought two bottles and the 2nd remains almost full to this day. Are you jealous yet? No need to be, the "Original" release is spot on the same when compared with the 2005 release. And I'm talking a paper strip to paper strip. Yes, the longevity is slightly weaker, but it's always been Eau de Toilette and I spray it on my clothes which makes it last the whole day anyway. I think this will be my forever signature masculine scent, especially when I'm rocking a mocha-coloured, full length cashmere coat in winter (if the global warming allows). Thank you DIOR!

Thank GOD Dior is still making this because this is nearly THE perfect signature for me. Fresh enough to be worn in summer (as long as it's not scorching) but sexy and dense enough to be worn on nights out and winter. Projection is a little lighter on this than I remember, but it’s perfectly fine. Absolute masterpiece 10/10. EDIT: I have a 2012 bottle and compared it with this. They are different, however it is minute and could be due to maceration. This one is spicier/a teeny bit fresher than my old bottle. The cardamom is more present in the new one. My 2012 bottle has a slightly more pronounced lipsticky iris and is a BIT more dense in general. Overall, I prefer my 2012 bottle but they are extremely close.

I blind bought this a while back and it has quickly become one of my all time favorites. It's a nostalgic scent that reminds me of the 00's but there's nothing outdated about it. It's warm, smooth and graceful, mostly androgynous. The opening is a fresh cardamom powder bomb, it's great right off the bat but it gets earthier, creamier and sweeter as it dries down and that's when it really shines. Cacao is not listed but it definitely plays a major role in the drydown. Dior rarely misses but the 2020 version shouldn't be trying to replace this, they have something really special on their hands with this one, it's one of the best designer fragrances on the market and I really hope they don't discontinue it.

This scent is SO good, I cannot stand (unfortunately) Dior Homme 2020 or Dior Homme Sport 2021, I tried to like them both, even spray them and wear them at the stores, but no. This is a different animal, this is simply how it should have been: cardamom and iris, and not just any, it is guatemalan cardamom and tuscan iris, the mix is simply great, and this my friend, is a women magnet. IMPORTANT: do not get scammed online with parfums over 200 dollars, there is a seller on ebay called sanba-9443, this seller has them all, this and MANY others, based in Hungary, shipping with tracking provided, I got from this seller 6 parfums already, no problems at all (can even find any parfums you want).

My favorite of the original Dior Homme iris fragrances. To not go overboard (but I'll probably expand later) it just smells perfectly balanced and more easy-going than the other versions, and the most appropriate for your average guy in the most scenarios. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of this line, this fragrance is still one of only a very few of my hundreds that I choose to wear nowadays. It's just very pleasing, inoffensive, and masculine for this sort of fragrance. Everyone should own it, because I'm sure that you will eventually come around to liking it at some point, and more certainly than with Intense or Parfum even though those are also amazing.

To add to my previous review : The opening is veeery powdery, very dry, and I manage to spray the fragrance at least 30 minutes before going out, otherwise I just smell like dry powder. The fragrance evolves, imo, better when the temperature are warm. It turns quicker into the drydown, and it gets creamier. When it's winter-cold, I find that it stays powdery like in the opening much longer, and doesn't really flourish. You also get the cacao accord, and the slight sweetness, but much less the vetiver. So cold weather is probably the reason of my first paragraph. Imho, not really a winter fragrance, more fall/summer/spring. Still, 10/10 for ever and ever

I was on the fence about ordering a new bottle after exhausting my old one some years ago, reading and hearing abundant talk about reformulations and poor performance. I saw it pop up on JS, and was quite surprised when I put it on earlier today. Not only did it smell very much the way I remember it smelling, I actually think it outperforms my older bottle? This has been on skin for over 7-ish hours, and it is still very much present. I don't think my old bottle did this well. Maybe it did, and my memory is screwy. I don't know. Either way, I am relieved that whatever they've done to this hasn't destroyed it completely like others in the line.

The best iris fragrance for men. Classic Dior iris with some warm spices and slight earthiness. Sure it could project and last a bit longer but I think people are over exaggerating the “bad” performance. If you do a lot of sprays you definitely go nose blind. I used this at a wedding and did 6-8 sprays, smelt nothing after 1 hour. However, the suit smelt of Dior Homme original several days later and quite strongly as well. Modesty seems to be the key with this fragrance. I often get compliments after 6-8h using only 1-3 sprays. When I use this at the office I can still smell it when I come home 8h later.

This is like if an iris flower turned into a butterfly and flew all around you, clapping its wings, leaving iris cocoa powder dust all over. It's beautiful. This is for the man who truly appreciates beautiful things. Smells expensive and of high quality. This projects just the right amount. Not too much, not too little. Seems to stay on for a few hours at least. The only thing I kind of don't like is the little bit of leather smell, but it's really not too noticeable. Sometimes I don't notice it at all. I think this is one of the masterpieces out there. Probably a 10/10 or a 9.5/10. Yeah it's wonderful.

Dior did a fantastic job with making this as close to the OG as possible. 10/10. 07/17/2026 Edit: Brought this on vacation. Most of my day's are outside by a swimming pool at a resort. Wore this yesterday after my morning shower and headed to our cabana. 5 sprays. High 80's and humid with lots of sun. Was at a swim-up bar around noon and the guy next to me said I smelled good. Around 5pm we were getting ready to leave our cabana and our waitress asked me what I was wearing. She said she could smell it every time she came inside our cabana. I'm pretty impressed what the heat can do with this masterpiece.

If this were as easy to get as BDC in The States.... This is all I would wear. Top of the frag is a lighter Dior Homme Intense *(I know... redundant) that high quality buttery iris glows here. However, the dry down is lovely as well and to me maybe unlike DHI. A high quality and clean vetiver almost reminds of Encre Noir by Lalique. High quality Iris, cardamom, and vetiver here, just like the notes on fragrantica suggest. 10/10 men's fragrance. If you like the intense, this is just a more subtle and more wearable version and imo, done perfectly. Thank you, François Demachy and Dior!

I still have a battle from 2014 but imo this one is better . DHO is creamier in the opening . This is supposed to be an intimate, Fragrance but after letting it macerate for two years, I get five hours of good performance and projection within arms length which is pretty good. All the notes are not listed above, but there is some citrus and woods in here as well which makes this more versatile . It is a wonderful date night fragrance, but yet it is versatile enough to wear with a white tee on a nice summer evening . This is a must have especially for a collector ! 10/10

Definitely appreciate the cocoa vibes I'm getting here. The vetiver comes with earthiness, imbuing a refreshing element that elegantly harmonises with the cocoa aroma by grounding its sweetness. The cardamom introduces an invigorating spice, attaching a degree of richness that brings forward some refinement to the entire scent. The iris adds a touch of enigma and androgyny by supplying a lipsticky aroma, making it somewhat unisex. I find the performance to be lacklustre, but that's absolutely fine because I generally don't expect EDTs to be powerhouses in this regard.

@stakou Yes, for some reason it is much lighter... I had original version from 2005 and it wasn’t a beast either, but at least I could smell it on me. This version smells amazing, but lacks heavily in terms of projection and longevity. It’s very flat on my skin, Intense is little bit better with that, but not superior. Only Parfum is holding up, but the scent is more heavy on leather and woods. I wish they could do something about it. I know I am not the only one who has these issues. At the moment Parfum is good option if Original and Intense are not working for you.

This gives the same olfactory satisfaction as freshly baked bread, in both scent and feel. The iris gives off such an interesting heated dough or flour-like accord that is impossible to describe with any word other than comforting. Knowing that such a beautiful violet flower is the essence of this fragrance just makes it even better. Everything about this fragrance is simply sublime. The sound of the cap clicking, the atomizer, the way it looks. It has TERRIBLE performance, but scent is law. It screams masculinity to my nose, but bbq meatheads say otherwise.

This is a silky smooth, creamy and masterfully blended fragrance. Of all my fragrances this is probably the most ''rich guy in a suit'' smelling one. This would be excellent for a spring or summer wedding. While Dior Homme Intense is best at evening/night, this is a great fragrance for everyday use especially during spring and summer. But overall it’s quite versatile. The notes listed are spot on, cardemom, iris and vetiver and that's it. A bit powdery but leans more to the ''lipsticky'' iris than powdery iris. This is a gorgeous scent, all year around, office, at home, all day and for all purposes. I have more iris based scents, they are all good, but this one is in its own class completely. Iris is the body of it, but the aditional notes in here, are so mysteriously well integrated and the result is this unique scent, as some put it cola, but that a bit misleading but I understand why someone would write that. It is unique as I said and it is subtle and perfect for all situations. A must have, unless you really dont like Iris that is

I've been buying this for years but they have sadly watered it down. I contacted Dior to complain, trying to cite the UK consumer rights 2015 law, but they claim habitation, nose blindness, and storage – all the usual crap. This has never happened before to any of my duplicate purchases, so DHO has definitely changed. I'll use up my bottle and never buy another one. Very sad - this and Parfum have been my signatures for over a decade. I will now investigate Valentino UOMO as all reports suggest it stayed the same.

My 2021 bootle is almost done (15 ml left of 100), and my perception is that it reached now his peak performance on both scent profile and duration on skin: a brighter interpretation of the 2011 fragrance, but absolutely amazing. The lack of relative performance on the first half year of my bootle was sometimes frustrating, but i can totally assure that Dior Homme Original will get better and better with time and use. One of the most timeless signature scents, for the modern gentleman.

Refined, attractive, and inviting. The iris is creamy and just a little sweet, though much less so than the current DHI. It smells sophisticated without being aloof. For about 90 minutes. Edit: Actually I take it back, the longevity is actually pretty impressive. I can still smell it when I wake up after putting it on around 7pm before going out for the evening. But it is an extremely subtle scent, you will just gets hints of it throughout the day. But oh my what a scent it is.

Beautiful modern release of a masterpiece. This one was highly anticipated for me and I wasn’t blown away on first spray. It was intensely spicy and not what I was expecting. So I was kinda taken aback for a second. And just when I was beginning to think I’d been let down the notes began to bloom into something familiar and something new all at once. The next hour or so I was done, realizing that this is yet another amazingly beautiful and phenomenal addition to an epic line.

To me, this is the best one of the Dior Homme line. It shares a lot of similarities with the highly praised Dior Homme Intense but this one is vastly more versatile. As you probably know, opening is this beautiful lipsticky iris. With DHI, it goes away after about 45 minutes and becomes this chocolatey cacao blend. With DHO, the iris stays for the duration which I love and prefer. Performance is average and I’m perfectly satisfied with it. This is the one to get.

It's a more subtle, toned down version of Dhi, this is perhaps more creamy yet somehow also powdery, the initial spay I get lots of cardamom and iris, can't speak for longevity or silage as I need more time with my bottle but so far I like it Update: I really need to learn to give fragrances some time before jumping into conclusions, this is beautiful in the deep dry down, it's so dreamy and subtle not big projection or silage but very elegant scent
