Dior Passage No.9

I tested this perfume in a Dior shop. The fragrance instantly snared me in a web of darkness and fine red velvet! The scent was floral and woody is all I can say, a definite want!

Fragrance Review For Passage No. 9 By Dior Notes Tuberose Rose Woods Musk Passage No. 9 was a short lived fragrance by the house of Dior which was created for the Brazilian top super model Gisele Bundchen. Never mind that. This was a really gorgeous modern tuberose-and-musk scent that evoked classic tuberoses like Fracas, without as much depth or complexity, a simple almost solifore type of tuberose. I liked the bottle and the antique style atomizer. Why this was discontinued is beyond me. Within weeks it must have become obvious that it was not selling and they shut down production of this perfume. What a pity. The tuberose is indeed the main attraction. This is an old fashioned white floral fragrance, an homage to Fracas or even White Diamonds. There is as much of a white rose in it as there is white tuberoses. It smells like a basket of white flowers on a white linen table. As such it had a clean smell, a soap smell or scented bath oil smell. It almost smelled religious. It did evoke something out of Brazilian perfumery because it was so floral, and so old fashioned with a bit of a Catholic bite. It smelled like tuberoses placed in front of a statue of the Virgin Mary. Why they would associate that tuberose with Gisele Bundchen is beyond me. It smells more like a fragrance for her mother. Perhaps Gisele approached the making of this perfume as did Madonna when they created Truth or Dare for her. This has the same kind of vibe. Gorgeous white flowers, tuberoses and white roses. The dry down is a warm fur courtesy of musk, just simple musk, but it gives the white florals a good foundation and provides the scent with longevity, maturity and even sex appeal. This becomes muskier as it dries down and begins to fade. It also has woods and the woods too give it a unisex/masculine quality. In this way, because it went from white florals to musk, it reminded me of Prince's women's fragrance 3121. If you have worn Truth or Dare by Madonna or 3121 by Prince, this is just like that. Highly enjoyable, and very much a type of perfume I enjoy but sadly discontinued. The only way to appreciate this scent is by wearing other ones that are similar to it. White flowers are very nice if you give them a chance and they never smell old lady ish to me. Well done Dior and Gisele Bundchen.
