Eau Sauvage Parfum 2017

This is simply perfection incarnate for me. This is the raw, beautiful definition of what a fragrance is. Without a doubt, if I could only have one for the rest of my life, Eau Sauvage Parfum would be it. Yes, it is a thrill and loved hobby of mine to constantly collect and show off the wonderful, endless variety of fragrances in the world. But in the screaming vortex of scents with 24 notes that you can only smell lemon from, gourmand overloads of coffee-honey-frabbajack-wafflecakes, videos of 40 year old men covering themselves head to toe with fragrances every 4 seconds on my feed, $20 clone bangers and $500 jokes, Eau Sauvage will permanently remain above the rest as an anchor; a calming, protective reminder of why we started this exponential attack on our wallets. Kinda like the end of The Menu, where the chef who lost his passion and skill in his years of pursuing culinary perfection suddenly found it all back in a single request for a simple cheeseburger. Eau Sauvage is simple in notes, yet elegantly perfect in every factor. A bright, truly realistic wave of ripe citron, bergamot, and lavender greet you before a shell of vetiver and elemi come to encapsulate the fragrance as a whole. Citron isn’t like a lemon, it isn’t sharp or candied. Citron is an enveloping, comforting citrus that smells like luxury tart when done right. The base notes almost provide a black-licorice type of combination in the best way possible (coming from someone who would happily vomit at the mere sniff of licorice scents). It is masculinity in a bottle. Yes, in today’s essence, it is “barbershop-y”, and “fougere”, but the difference is this is the purest birthing definition of those terms tuned up to meet modern demands. This tells me the story of a confident, caring and extroverted Italian guy in the 50’s, warm sunlight coming through the windows at the barbershop; complete with the classic wooden-shined floors and reliance on simple tools to get the job done. He’s shooting the shit with his buddies, reminiscing and laughing, always naturally emphasizing their belief on doing everything to the max, whether it’s to love, laugh, cry, or eat. It’s how they defined life. Some of them struggle by societal terms, some of them are successful, but regardless, they all strive to live the best way they can. They walk tall, they’re loud, and a celebration is what makes everything worth it every time. And at that celebration, be it perhaps their daughters wedding, a graduation, friend’s 60th birthday party, or even a funeral, Eau Sauvage Parfum is the modern encapsulation of what those men wore in both mind and body back then. I truly see my long-passed grandfather in every way here. I remember smelling the original EDT Eau Sauvage a while ago, and while it reminded me of him in many similar ways described above, something was missing. The warm confidence wasn’t all the way there, not to mention it lasted literal minutes. This is what I sought. The Parfum lasts easily 8-10 hours, an entire workday. It is strong, but not sickening, and projects beautifully. Like I said, this fragrance does everything to perfection. Nothing is left unattended. If you are looking for confidence, nostalgia, and a way to honor that ideology that has disappeared through a fragrance, this is it.

This is just a great anytime, any occasion fragrance. I know people rattle on about the "old version" being superior in everyway....blah blah blah, but I never had the privilege of trying that most fabled of elixirs so will just tell you my thoughts on the 2017 version without bias or rose tinted glasses! Being a fan of the classic mens scent, eau savage had been on my purchase list for a long time, waiting for an opportune moment and a good offer. So I've been wearing it intermittently over the last few weeks. Initially I felt a little underwhelmed but over the time stated I've dialled into this scent and appreciate it's effortless beauty, it's just lovely. It's not going to start a revolution or a new religion but it's damn well solid, reliable and performs reasonably well. It's great value, especially if discounted. I wont drill down into the notes too much but will just say that overall it's a classic, aromatic, citrus that is timeless. The lavender and elemi blended so beautifully seems to transcend time, defying categorisation. So much so that of course the older gent can't go too far wrong with this scent but a well dressed younger man could absolutely carry this off on a daily basis, perhaps should if he is tired of modern perfumes and wants to stand out with a distinctly stylish alternative! All the statistics are just above the moderate level to me! It'll last a work day, arms length until lunch, a little closer until back home and a skin scent until bedtime. Sillage and trail is what you'd expect and want from a gents classic, detectable as you pass by and especially noticeable to others who value a little class and quality with just enough restraint. It's elegant and refined but not all the way as perhaps brands like Floris, C & S or the like! This is a scent for everyman who just likes to go about his business with minimal fuss but still likes to make a good impression. Eau savage parfum is a grown up guys staple that'll be your swiss army knife of perfumery. A reliable and faithful old friend. This is a fragrance that even though I may not wear everyday, I'll choose on those days when I either don't know what else to opt for or just want something outstanding but simple that won't rock the boat. I hope that makes sense! 😆

Have owned 4 bottles of 2017 and 4 of 2012 including a 100ml of the first batch made. I love them both but the 2017 is more versatile definitely. The myrrh in 2012 version I miss very much. So today I brought my fifth bottle of this, the tester was a light colored Green so i was worried but upon opening, it still has that dark 'Nuclear' green (Just how i describe it). This stuff still kicks ass. It's grown up, serious, professional and rounder in the best way possible. This is a beast of a fragrance and absolute masterclass. I hope this is not touched, reformulated or discontinued. This is a masterpiece that should be kept in the Dior line, if FK wants just make a flanker and don't mess with this formulation. I've worn this since 2018 and always had good feedback and many compliments, this isn't for everyone and most women won't dig it. Though I have received good compliments from women, even today the young lady at the store was telling me how she loves these type of fragrance over the current designer stuff... and So do I. This is top 5 for me and definitely one Signature scent I use. I will.be buying 2-4 back up.bottles incase this is messed with. Other Top Signatures are for example; Aventus, Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme, GIT and couple others. Opening zesty citrus, the heart had strong Elemi and thr drydown is vetiver heavy but also has supporting notes (rainout, Patchouli) in there this is just done right and is from start to finish pure class. For me.this is an easy 10/10. Worth a sniff. I've also had friends own this and report they received great feedback. It's not a show stopper or absolutely mind blowing but it's great, balanced and rounded. It is almost a year round fragrance but I wouldn't wear it in summer. I would reach for the Cologne, which is one of the best summer perfumes ever! Please don't mess with this... keep it on the line up and make a flanker If you want FK... DO NOT REFORMULATE THIS!!!

On a whim, I decided to blind buy Eau Sauvage Parfum 2017. The greenish hue of the juice and the mention of citrus notes intrigued me enough to take the plunge. The fragrance opens with a refreshing burst of citrus, immediately captivating with its vibrant and zesty character. However, what sets it apart is how it evolves beyond this initial citrusy burst. As it settles, Eau Sauvage Parfum 2017 transforms into a fresh balsamic masterpiece, blending the sharpness of citrus with deeper, more complex vetiver and elemi combo. This transition adds an unexpected richness that keeps the scent interesting and sophisticated. One of the standout qualities of this fragrance is its versatility. This fragrance is quite the plot twist. I’ll admit - my expectations were shaped by the bottle. It looks classy, but visually about as thrilling as a tax seminar. Thankfully, what’s inside far surpasses its understated exterior. If you get the chance, do yourself a favor and give this one a sniff. It was created by Demachy, so you might be positively surprised too. Eau Sauvage doesn’t get as much hype as Dior’s other lines *** cough Sauvage Elixir cough *** yet somehow manages to score higher in ratings. A true underdog story. You can read the notes, sure, but this fragrance defies easy description. It leans slightly gourmand, with an intriguing blend of orange/citrus, sweet lavender, and a whisper of anise. It’s linear - meaning the scent doesn’t evolve much over time, just fades gracefully. That said, after about 30 minutes, the bitterness of the orange steps aside, letting the anise become more pronounced. Simple, but effective. Expect decent sillage (an arm’s length), eight solid hours on skin, and a performance on clothes that goes beyond that mark. I had a sephora italy sample today !!! Apparently the old perfume has been interrupted. First impressions: it is first of all a different scent. Opening citrusy but not acidic (after it will be) Cedar is quite sweet and very strong and pleasant. strong bergamot . Lavender medium strong. after will be more strong. excellent start. Definitely a summer perfume for now. There is something slightly smoky in the distance even though it is not listed in the notes. The elemi that has that smell like fennel makes its strong appearance and it does not fade anymore , it makes this parfum the resinous and sharp . The vetiver completes it all with its odor of cleanliness. All notes continue to be present for the duration of the perfume. Conclusions: it is a pleasant, different, elegant scent. It is not a sporty citrus but is similar to a classic like boucheron pour homme, armani pour homme or eau sauvage but modernized. it's pleasant . give to me a sense of burning to the nostrils. The elemi and lavender now make it acid. All the notes give a nice and positive vibes. If you are looking for something modern this is the perfume for you. Finally something different, not invictus or sauvage clone! Do not make a blind purchase especially if you expect something similar to the old perfume sauvage. Vote 8/10 longevity: 7-12 hours. Sillage: an arm. Pro: for those who do not like sports citrus but wants a classy citrus . strong parfum.a perfume suitable for the day in the office. Or a walk in the open air. A classic modernized citrus. Against: It is not in the category of perfumes I would buy, but it is a personal taste even if it is a well-made perfume. It is not a substitute for old sauvage parfum since it is very different. Similar to ..: boucheron pour homme, armani pour homme.

#429 in my "Tour de Fragrance" About a year ago after trying the Eau Sauvage EDT I had said, "If I find this in a parfum, I will buy it and it will become my signature scent." I found it as a parfum. It has become my signature scent. I was certain I had worn this before, in the 80's, which is before it was actually released. These things run together as your memory gets full. With some research I figured out I had been wearing a Dior scent called "Jules" which was basically this without citrus. But like that scent this scent is unmistakably masculine, utterly versatile, still modern and very classy. There are other fragrances I love. But this fragrance has no peers. Nothing else even comes close. If I'm putting on a white dress shirt, suit and tie, this is always going on underneath. I think it's hard to balance conifer and balsam in a fragrance and get me to like it. Jacques Bogart has certainly done it, with great, masculine, business class scents, at a bargain price, but all EDTs that lack the staying power I require. This scent combines the best of Bogart "Pour Homme", Bogart "One Man Show" and "One Man Show Emerald Edition" with the staying power of an EDP. It is not bargain priced like Jacques Bogart, but I love everything about it to the point that I don't care about price. Is it a bit dated? Okay, sure. It's definitely got the 60's vibe of woody chypre, a scent type which I have loved since Aramis and everything in between. I don't care. Actually I do care, and it's exactly what I love about this fragrance. You can get a $2.99 sample of the EDT version from Microperfumes. I couldn't find a sample of the parfum, but the scents are very close. Try it out before you buy, but I think it is the absolute pinnacle of men's fragrance.

This fragrance, not to be confused with other variants and Sauvage, does exactly what the perfumer had intended. The listed notes are what you get, easily discernible from the start to finish. What Eau Sauvage Parfum offers is the bitter-sweetness and tanginess of lemon and bergamot with the zestful vitality of vetiver, as if the clear, amberous-emerald extract was a blend of citrus fruit peels and neem tree leaves, enhanced with the warmth and sweetness of floral from lavender and elemi. The result is a sharp, soothing masculine, citrus-vetiver scent, with a hint of warmth and sweetness of floral and musk, deprived of the synthetic alcohol, delivering an uncompromising and consistent performance for at least a good few hours. Often fresh, masculine and citrus scents are easily confused with synthetic organic lab made chemicals, whereas, Eau Sauvage Parfum delivers what a perfume should, with the use of easily recognizable pure extract sourced from natural ingredients, departing from the olfactory discernment of the alcohol and the blend of aldehydes that stick to your lab coat from a three hour university organic chemistry experiment. Many reviewers would characterize this fragrance as a barbershop scent when its truly not, perhaps mistaking it for aftershave splashes, which by the way are colognes that flare up the nostrils and the skin. This fragrance is not exceptional by any means. Nevertheless, Eau Sauvage Parfum delivers a truly masculine perfume as a parfum, in an astonishingly sensational way, adhering to the intrinsic values of purity inherent in natural ingredients.

It felt like a tragedy when Francois Demachy created this 2017 iteration in order to phase out the 2012 masterpiece with myrrh as a major component.. the star of the fragrance. Fast forward to early 2025: I have lived with this 2017 version for several years now.. and no doubt I would also call this a masterpiece, but the myrhh was difficult for me to get over up until recently. And this is probably where 2025 becomes the year I have finally grown over the myrhh. (I have even bought myrhh oil to layer but it is a hit and miss as I am no chemist). When I've smelled this on me over the past few wearings, I noticed that the elemi does indeed at certain times resemble myrhh, but as with any resin, it can have several characterizations. In any case, yes, I have grown to appreciate the elemi even more.. and this is where I should have trusted Francois Demachy all along. Due to market demands, compromises are an unfortunate part of the industry; however, Demachy is a true a master at work. This fragrance I always liked, it is a brighter, less resinous version of the 2012 version to simply put it.. For that reason I felt the 2012 version was more daring and mysterious ... but in the evolving age of copy and paste TikTok teenagers swooning over Jean Paul Gaultier and Armani Stronger w/ You (Irony is the original Eau Sauvage EdT was an early mainstream success), it really does make one appreciate the artistry of classics that stand out more than ever even if I smell like a 35 year old grandfather wearing this. All things considered, I enjoy the 2017 version now more than I've ever had. And with its future uncertain, just live in the moment.

An absolute classic, OG, “old money,” sophisticated, elegant fragrance... embodying maturity, competence, and having yourself together. I love the fact that it’s mostly under the radar, not some adolescent TikTok influencer trend. Embodies classic, put-together, old-school masculinity... as opposed to this era’s more effeminate, delicate, “fragile boy” masculinity. The difference with something like Fahrenheit (another old-school masculine scent) is that Eau Sauvage is more about class, competence, and sophistication... whereas Fahrenheit rocks the badass / social rebel side of things. Some reviewers say Eau Sauvage needs to be dressed up, but I don’t think that's the case. I think it’s more about simply being well put-together, whether your look is casual or more formal. As for the fragrance itself... it can be a bit peppery on the opening (you may actually start sneezing if you overspray), but I’ve gotten over that. I've come to absolutely love this. I find it surprisingly fresh; quite possibly my favorite freshie... (especially if you decant and mix it 50/50 with the superb aftershave lotion – try this for summer!)... yet also rich and spicy, giving you timeless all-season versatility. Longevity is top-notch, and the dry-down is... words fail me... sublime. In sum: Eau Sauvage Parfum is a magnificent fragrance embodying well-put-together, mature, self-realized masculinity, that's completely OK with what it is.... classy irrespective of "trends"..... and one of those rare fragrances that's worth whatever you have to pay to get it.

Quite a kick in the opening, as most fragrances will give you, but it calms down in five minutes which is a thing I like. There is discreet elegance in this one, very "French" in character. The citron/cedrat notes are very well made, and come forward as fresh twists of citrus peel rather than as the succade that is my personal experience with the fruit. Having said that, the EDP is not citrus leaning compared with the EDT. Balsamic, absolutely; woody, not so much, but yes, it is certainly a more focused EDP style rather than the fresh forward EDT/cologne. There is something reminiscent of iris, but not in a powdery way at all – probably the lavender leaning in unexpected directions. I suppose the balsamic qualities come from the elemi, but I have no experience with that ingredient. Further down the tree, I cannot say I get much conifer from this, although there is certainly hints of a tangy, herbal underwood somewhere down there. I really find it to be a great composition, maybe a tad unisex; although I do love the scent, I need time and a couple more efforts to see if it is for me. I would have expected just a touch more masculine-leaning vetiver or woodiness. All in all this is a complex and well made EDP, but performance is probably less than what many people want. Does not bother me, though, I like discretion. The character (not the aromas) reminds me a lot of Opium pour homme; if I am to buy a bottle of Eau Sauvage it will be to replace that one in the future.

When I smell this fragrance, I smell office. Not because my office smells like this, but because the smell (in my head) screams "professional guy". I know it might be more versatile just than for office, but that's what unique about scent. It can associate differently to different person. A lot would say Prada L'Homme is staple for office, unfortunately, it's scent remind me of bus freshener I smelt everyday when I did internship in mid 2000s. I can't de-associate it. That's why even though I also have PLH in my collection, I rarely reach it. I wear PLH only when I just wanna be safe and do not offend people (cos it is one of ultra safest scent for office), but not myself. And that is imho is not what fragrance should be. Fragrance should please wearer and simultaneously at least don't offend people around you (if they like it, then it is a bonus). Back to Eau Sauvage, somehow I smell kafir lime in it, although it doesn't have that notes. Maybe from combination of notes creates that impression to me. Performance is quite good for fresh / non ambery fragrance, but still polite. Polarizing? Maybe slightly. I can imagine some (not all) teenagers will find it dated or old school, but I don't care as my colleague are mostly in their 30s and 40s. I am myself is 43 y.o. when I write this. Because it is quite unique scent, I strongly recommend to test it first, not blind buy.

The Chronicles of Kapow or The Ultimate Fragrance Buyer’s Guide Until I Find a More Pompous Title: Entry Number 22 I can confess I have some affection for this fragrance (for the entire line actually). I do not wear it often, but I always enjoy coming back to it. I like to pick it up when the days go colder, but the sun is still there to warm me up while I sit on a bench at the park or at the terrace of a café. I know some people wear it during the summer, but I do not and I do not recommend doing it. The sunny effect of this fragrance built on bergamot, a sparkling citrus and a very clean vetiver needs fresh weathers to shine. This is when the interaction with the powerful note of elemi, the spicy effect and the touch of green and liquorice coming from the lavender works at its best. It is pretty intense. It is a superb barbershop with very good projection and good duration. It is masculine without being overpowering and macho. It finds a place in my book among the best barbershop fragrances I have tested so far (TF Beau de Jour, TF Fougère d’argent, MFK Masculin pluriel or Heeley Cologne officinale to name a few). In my book: a solid A. Maybe it is not original enough for a distinction, but it does not pretend to be and it is quite challenging for a barbershop to launch a revolution. It is just very well made and it works perfectly.

If you suffer from FOMO like I do, you may be thinking of buying both this 2017 version and the "darker" 2012 version. I'm here to tell you not to bother, unless the first 30 minutes are really important to you. The 2012 starts out with an almost syrupy lemon, amber, a decent level of sweetness and what I perceive as a blended accord of patchouli, musk and artemesia. The 2017 is brighter, lighter, has more oakmoss and less sweetness. The 2012 initially seemed liked a "noir" flanker of the 2017. After 30 minutes, though, they have moved towards each other to become 95% similar to each other and to what the other reviews below mention. The 2017 projects a bit more. Some reviews call this a fougere, but it is actually closer to a citrus chypre minus the animalics. Loaded with hedione, elemi, LOTV and eugenol, amped up with more sweetness than any fougere would attempt, this is virtually the poster child of masculine-leaning chypres. Two sprays will last the whole day, and I don't recommend applying it less than 2 hours before any work meetings unless you want to choke out your clients. Applied judiciously, this can be a "power" scent, but only if you are over 40 or mature beyond your years. You won't be attracting the opposite sex with this, but you will impress or intimidate.

Male olfactory perfection- bottled. Eau Sauvage Parfum in its current formulation is my favorite scent I've had the pleasure to wear. The wearing experience can best be described as: long-lasting (I can always smell this fragrance for 12+ hours after application), elegant, masculine, refined, traditional, high quality, and pleasant throughout. The only way I can hope to add anything to the comments below, is to explain that I believe this fragrance to be the pinnacle and culmination of every proceeding experiment in fragrance development previously endeavored. And I doubt any will ever rise to oust ESP of its throne, though I welcome any earnest attempts to do so. It smells young, and old. Modern, and timeless. Fresh, citric, resinous. It is classic, but never beginning to approach being 'out of touch'. It is far elevated above the ebb and flow of modern tastes and trends. Never a moment of harshness. This fragrance is like an old friend, a grandfather, or an uncle. One of impeccable reliability and who would never wrong you and is never out of place. Noble, bold, understated, dignified, laconic. Crowd pleasing- but never pandering. Like authentic expressions of masculinity itself, this one could never be subverted, or subdued, and will never go out of style.

I will get a ton of sneers for these two opinions but here we go: This version is ever so slightly better than the 2012 version, WAIT I'm not done! This version smells a lot like Jovan's Sex Appeal No these are two opinions to get some kind of attention these are two statements I will stand by. I do like the 2012 version and would suggest that anyone who owns this should get a sample of the 2012 version and sample that before sampling/buying this as you may not agree with those who always make the statement that any reformulation is inferior to the original (except for Dior Homme its almost FragComm folking folklore that you like the reformulation over the 2005 original, sorry I like both versions). The same here I like both but I ever so slightly prefer the 2017 version, though could happily just have the 2012 version in my wardrobe. Now this has an aspect to it that is very similar to that of Sex Appeal by Jovan, I wouldn't say they are like for like but the similarity is there like white trainers you see during the summer, they might all look like Adidas but they're different but no less attractive propositions. Even though one is much cheaper. I really like this fragrance its such a charming , elegant and classy scent to wear on a daily basis - 9/10

This is what a true gentleman’s fragrance smells like. Classic DNA, but done in a way that still feels modern, wearable, and honestly... kind of addictive. Every time I wear this, it gives me a level of confidence and class that not many fragrances in my collection can match. The opening hits with a clean burst of citron and bergamot. Fresh, refined, and never too sharp. Then that barbershop-style lavender comes in and gives it that smooth, aromatic backbone. As it settles, a dry, slightly bitter vetiver starts to show up and keeps everything grounded. But the real magic is in the base. The elemi resin brings this subtle peppery, citrusy resinous vibe that ties everything together and keeps a fresh brightness even deep into the drydown. It’s what makes the whole fragrance feel so seamless and polished. The blending is just effortless. Nothing sticks out, nothing feels out of place. It just smells... put together. Performance is solid too. I get about 2 hours of moderate to strong projection, then it settles closer and lasts around 8 hours on my skin. Fresh enough for year round wear, but it definitely leans a little more dressed up. Still, I wear it casually all the time and it always gets good reactions. Clean. Confident. Timeless.

As far as a classic mans fragrance goes, this is it. When I picture a classic man, this is what I imagine he's wearing. Very clean, fresh, and newly shaved. Wearing a nice suite and a hat. For my modern, sensitive nose, it's a little too pointy and sharp. It's that "wearing too much cologne" vibe with just 2 sprays. Not everyone will think so, but this is too much for me. The elemi is dominant, and slightly rubbery. Vetiver too is working hard. I also get citrus that does smell a little bit synthetic. But not so much that most people will notice. Where: Semi-formal to Formal. This is classy and classic. Wearing this with a suit will make perfect sense. When: All year, day or night. It's so strong, it will work all winter. But so clean and citrusy, it'll work for summer (not very hot days). Who: Men. This is 100% masculinity in a bottle. It's for grown up, mature, classy, and classic men. Personal score: 8.5/10. This is, to quote The Fragrance Apprentice: " This smells like the lineage of men ". Will always smell good. Will never smell young.

Signature scent worth. Very masculine, fresh, citrusy-woody, long lasting, decent projection and very versatile. I could see myself wearing this everywhere, university, Caffe bars, meetings, etc.. It's very classic and elegant, works easily with a casual outfits or something more special. Also I could wear this in summer too, as the citrus notes tend to amp in heat. It starts very citrusy crisp to my nose and aromatic, I still get a little bit of basil in the opening mixed with the citruses and a creamy sweetness. The elemi is the main note after the opening settles down, leaving the scent profile still citric, the vetiver plays a major role in this along with the lovely Elemi note, makes it very woody and slightly smoked. The lavender gives an aromatic and earthy accord to this beautiful combination. Very good performance, it stays on me easily 9-10h with a good projection and sillage in the first 2 hours and then going closer to the skin, but still leaving a nice citrusy-woody bubble scent around.

Its interesting that alot of people voted that this doesnt smell anything like the original eau sauvage edt...i completely disagree. At least in the sense that i believe this is a great parfum concentration version of eau sauvage edt which ive worn countless times. For something made in 2017 with all the limitations as far as IFRA, I think e.s. parfum is really damn good. If i put them side by side on opposite arms i truly "get it". The older version from 2012 with the dark juice is totally amazing, great fragrance i like alot, but i think it smells way less like e.s. edt than the 2017 newer version does. Just my two cents. Pretty much any eau sauvage of any concentration from any year is a guaranteed good buy in my book. P.s. i see some say it smells alot like xerjoff fiero...i get where youre coming from but if anything fiero would be like the "extreme" or "intense" flanker of e.s. parfum lol. If you like stuff such as the eau sauvage line, you probably would like fiero alot though for the record.

Just got this in. I blind bought it. Very impressed. Was looking to get into one of these "barbershop" type scents. Torn between TF Beau de Jour and this. I went with this. It's got the kind of smell that my grandfather always had, especially when I was a kid, though I don't think he wore the EDT, I believe he wore something else. But this takes that, and modernized it some from that smell I remember him having. Almost like the scent is passing a torch to the new guys wearing it. Lol. Dior is slowly earning the spot of my favorite fragrances. I've blind bought 4 of them now, and everytime, they hit the nail on the head, not only in terms of scent, but in terms of performance also. Performance seems good right off, I'm gunna wear it through a night of work and see how it goes. Different type of scent, but I really enjoy it! Edit after a busy work night in a restaurant: stuff is still just radiating off of me 7 hours in. Doesn't show any signs of letting up. Really solid buy.

Et Demachy a associé en note de fond l'Elemi - sens dessus dessous en arabe - pour soutenir les notes de têtes citronnées et cela fonctionne à merveille. L'eau donne parfois l'impression de la recomposition d'un citron confit, même si certains lui reprochent le côté un peu Barber shop : ce n'est pas faux en définitive. Néanmoins, plus que l'ambroxan, plus que l'iris, l'elemi offre une fragance polyvalente et fortement addictive. Cela explique les récurrents avis dithyrambiques pour l'eau de parfum, notamment après la sortie, entre 2018 et 2020. Comme quoi il est possible de porter une eau citronnée avec le sillage, la tenue et la fraîcheur.

Dior’s Eau Sauvage Parfum 2017 is a fragrance that surprises you with its depth beneath a seemingly simple citrus opening. I initially avoided it due to the weak performance of the Eau de Toilette despite loving its scent. But curiosity leds me to try the Parfum version, hoping for stronger projection and longevity. At first, I judged it too quickly based on its bright, aromatic top notes. But as it developed, the heart truly revealed itself: a smooth, hypnotic myrrh, which completely won me over even though I was never a fan of lavender. The base settles into warm woods and amber, offering lasting sophistication. Its projection is bold, and longevity impressive, contradicting its deceptively delicate start. In the end, I didn’t just appreciate it I fell in love with it. This is not just a flanker; it’s a masterful evolution of a classic. EAU SAUVAGE PARFUM is a perfume from the Past and a Perfume for the future, A Scent between Classic and Modern Style. In my opinion, It is a Modern Masterpiece. I bought it blind-buy after I read positive comments and watched reviews on YouTube. It is hard to find Eau Sauvage Parfum in Canada and I bought it from Fragrance buy .ca , I really enjoy it and I love it It opens up with fresh citrusy , slightly spicy , Lavender and Vetiver notes in the background then dry down is Creamy Smooth, balsamic, coniferous, Incense-y resinous and woody. This smells very Pure and Refined. I'm so happy that I have it in my collection, Longevity is very Good. This is the Mircale of perfume that it takes your mind to another place and changes your mood. Highly Recommended Two Thumbs Up Bravo Dior ! Rating : 9 / 10

I recently bought a decant of this (whilst being at the half of my edt bottle), and I must say that there isn't much of a difference in terms of scent profile, the main thing is that this one is a bit sweeter, due to the strong amber note in the base. It starts with the same citrus blast as the 1966, but it has a slightly sweeter accord in the background. The elemi ads some slight mintyness (just like in the Extreme flanker, altough to a lesser extent), and isn't very resionous or dark. Gone is the oakmoss (what a pitty !) in this version, but the EDT too was reformulated and isn't a moss heavy scent, while the older formulations were, from what I heard of. Nevertheless, smell wise is decent and longevity is VERY good, 10-12 hours, without a beastly projection, but it is there, and it projects good in the first hour or two. I am not sure if I will get this yet.

This was love at first sniff for me. It always kind of scares me when I love a scent at first spray because I've had more than a few that dry down into something I don't care for. I still really like this on the dry down. It's citrus, spicy; some lavender, some earthy, and some sweetness. I have smelled other fragrances like this but there was always something off about it with the lavender where it would overpower and get kind of funky or it would be a little too barbershop/deodorant smelling for me. I feel like this is one of the first that I can remember where it balances out just right. It's a top tier fragrance IMO. I guess I could see some people thinking it's "mature" but to me that just means it doesn't smell like a really sweet cinnamon bomb and I'm ok with that. I wouldn't say mature, I'd say middle aged or mature 20's could pull this off just fine.

I love this for what it is, but I will probably always long for the 2012 verison because the myrhh note was to die for. If you’re like me who can’t justify spending $500 to bring back pleasant olfactive memories and nostalgia that I have of the 2012 version, then layer this with a tiny droplet of myrhh essential oil, wait about an hour or two as it dries down (waiting for the myrhh to reveal its resinous quality is key), and thank me later. As the nuances are likely still different side by side (I no longer have the 2012 version), the myrhh layering will make it much more reminiscent to its predecessor that had one of the most beautiful dry downs in the history of designer perfume. The current 2017 variant is still very good, and probably will be in my top 10 regardless with or without the myrhh.

My bottle of Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum came in yesterday after testing a sample for a while, and I’m glad I pulled the trigger. From the first spray, it just feels classy. The opening is bright and fresh with that smooth bergamot and a touch of green, then pretty quickly this warm, resinous depth starts to come through that gives it a calm, confident vibe. As it dries down, the myrrh and woods really stand out and make it feel mature and gentlemanly without smelling old. It has good projection for the first few hours and I’m getting around 7 to 8 hours of longevity, which is perfect for a scent like this. To me, this is timeless. It’s the kind of fragrance you can wear with a suit or just a nice button-up and feel instantly put together. I can already tell this one’s going to get a lot of wear.

Lots of love for the 2012, which seems destined to go down as a classic. 2017 is a fresher composition. Brighter but still with depth. More versatile than 2012 but both great scents. Worn both today at the same time before deciding on this purchase. Performance is exactly the same as 2012. Lasts all day and projects beautifully. its a shame Dior didn't call this something else like Eau Sauvage Cologne Parfum and keep 2012 running side by side. They are as different as DHI and DHP and could fulfill the same purpose. 2012 for colder months or nights. 2017 for days or any other times 2012 might seem a little much. But I must stress that this isn't a downgrade in quality. Just a fresher, more versatile take and an attempt to bring it closer to the original Eau Sauvage from the 60's.

Better late than never. I tried Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 a few years ago and was so turned off, I wrote off the entire Eau Sauvage Parfum line. But I kept hearing the hype around the 2017 edition and decided to grab a small sample. Am I glad I did. First off, this fragrance smells very different from the 2012 version. And I did not expect it to lean so heavily into the fougère territory. I was expecting more of a citrus aromatic variation, but this is a proper fougère and a good one at that. Fans of the 2012 version might not be into this one because it’s more “basic.” I kind of agree, even though I can’t quite place what it reminds me of. It does smell familiar. Still, what it does, it does well. This is a very elegant and refined fragrance.

It might be more suitable for a more mature nose. I’ve smelt others in this wheelhouse like Chanel platinum Egoiste etc. but like this far more. You can wear this anytime in any weather. My bottle is from May 2022.

Just beautiful. Started out with the 2012 version with Myrrh which I preferred over this 2017 version initially, but now I love both in it's own way. Both have a bright, austere citrus opening, then gradually moves to a woody, resinous, sensuous drydown. The 2012 Myrrh is less sharp, creamier, and more mysterious. The 2017 Elemi is less creamy, tangier, a little brighter, but similarly beautiful and sensuous. These are very professional and serious scents, but also mysterious and sensuous. Not a loud, sweet clubbing fragrance, but people will notice you. It's strong, so don't over spray. I can get whiffs 24-36 hours later on clothes. Signature scent worthy, best for fall and winter. Scent: 9.5 / Sillage: 8.5 / Longevity: 9.5

This is my favorite classic barbershop fougere. Initial citrus blast that blends perfectly with lavender. The elemi is resinous and balsamic, and adds an almost creamy aesthetic to this profile. The vetiver is slightly earthy, airy, and woody and brings nice balance. Since the base of this profile is dense and warm, you can definitely wear this one at night across all seasons, but I’d limit daytime use to fall, winter, and spring as the elemi may become too cloying and unpleasant in the summer heat (let’s say, above 85°F). It projects strongly for the first hour/hour and a half with 4 sprays, and lasts roughly 7-9 hours on my skin depending on the day. It’s relatively affordable too, shop around. 9.2/10

After trying out a lot of designers of different genres, I recently discovered I'm most attracted to barbershop style fresh spicy scents. So I started trying out a bunch of them and came across this at a retailer. Honestly, this was love at first sniff. It was exactly what I was looking for in a scent. This is a classic gentlemanly smell made more modern. It gives me confidence when I wear it. It suits my age perfectly (mid 30s). It lifts my mood up and gets me ready for the day. The fresh citrus opening is not harsh and it stays for a while too! Plus you probably won't smell like anyone else since this is so underrated. Versatile scent, can be worn year round but shines in warmer months.

I bought a 5ml sample to try this out. After wearing it a few times, I have some thoughts. It opens with a citrus blast, not your typical mass appealing citrus but nice, citrusy, yet dry, thanks to the citron. It’s clean and a bit sweet from the lavender and it’s not soapy. After a while, the Elemi and vetiver come in hot, I get this pine tree accord. It’s very aromatic. The deep dry down is a bit sweet but overall this is a green aromatic scent. Feels rich, masculine, and classy. This is for men, none of that unisex or modern men fragrances. I like this a lot. I am going to buy a bottle soon. That said, it’s not a blind buy. I imagine someone drinking gin and tonic while wearing this.

Eau my God! This is just stunning, if magic and lure were to be bottled up as a potion of mystic juice this would be it. I have around 270 perfumes and none come even close to this opening. The freshness and zesty effervescence is akin to smelling citruses on a hot pan without burning them. The dry down is a bit spicy and with incense involved , it reminds me of Interlude Man, probably because both have similar resins and also this has a smoky Vetiver. Overall, an amazing experience which can throw anyone of their game when they approach you as it makes them wonder "what did they just smell"? Great performance to boot along with awesome sillage.

Bright opening, sexy smooth elemi/vanilla dry down. Hard to wear as a daily scent if you don't have the swag for it, but an excellent event/suit and tie fragrance. It's a bright scent but it can be cloying if oversprayed, it's the first time I find a bright scent cloying. I often did the mistake of overspraying it, and it was like an heavy burden around me. BUT ! If sprayed correctly (2 sprays MAX ! And not close to the nose) It becomes a sexy "feel good" scent that enhances the elegance of the wearer. It has a lot of little flaws, yet I find it almost perfect. 9.5/10 Edit: I got bored of it, the opening is too cloying for me. 8.5/10

I don’t get the negative comments about this one. I own hundreds of fragrances, but I’ll never stop loving Eau Sauvage Parfum. It’s permanently in my top 20 favorites to wear , and on some days, it could easily make the top 10. Pure, effortless class. It gives off timeless gentleman vibes, you can dress it up or down, and it always fits. Always present, never overpowering. Even 10 hours later, people still catch whiffs and compliment it. That’s the secret to this fragrance: it’s not loud, it’s there, subtly hanging in the air, inviting people to lean in for more. A solid all-year wear for me. I’ll never be without it .

I 100% agree with Apache1830. I sprayed this two times in my neck and one time in my hair (half my normal spraying routine) and it was choking me out for hours. It is a very very strong fragrance and indeed gets cloying when sprayed too much. I actually tried to wash it off with water and a towel, which significantly reduced the intensity, making it truly divine. I almost wanted to sell it, as it was making me nauseous. After 'washing it off', I decided to keep my bottles. Two sprays is the maximum number of sprays to go with. Especially in the summer. Spray far away from your face.

One of the best modern fragrances I have had the pleasure to experience. Much darker than the original Dior Eau Sauvage EDT. The opening is addictive, with its citrus and fresh top. Later in the life of the perfume, it is dark and resinous. Great combination of fresh with dark. Have not tried the 2012 version, but am very happy with this version. It might work best in Fall and Winter, but I feel like this could pretty easily be worn in summer (granted, perhaps not the highest of heat). This juice could be a signature for the right person. One of my favorite fragrances.

Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (2017) - remastered legend - #edmondroudnitska ‘s creation, the original Eau Sauvage, is one of my favorite fougere and men marketed cologne, but sadly the reformulations have made it thin. #francoisdemachy in this parfum flanker sensational. Starts with a refreshing citrus-fougere that blooms into a slightly animalic, Clove, Carnation, Cinnamon and Amber accord. It’s not too sweet, but adds depth and better balance. Vetiver, woods and oakmoss are dominant in the drydown. It’s as if Kouros meets the original. Wonderful

This is the smell I remember from going to old barbershops in my childhood with my father. Opening is fizzy Bergamot and carries the barbershop smell throughout. Lasts long and projects loudly. With less sprays might work in office as well. However depending on where you live, keep in mind that the barbershop scent profile may not be pleasing to everyone. Where I live old school barbershops are on the decline and this scent profile will be polarizing, as some may find it nostalgic whilst others may want to distance themselves from memories.

Despite being formulated in 2017 , this scent profile is super nostalgic and transportive for me. Takes me back to being at Mass with my grandparents in the 90s. Either my grandpa or one of his church friends wore something with a very similar DNA--that strong citrus + smoky, dry, almost tobacco-like vetiver combo. Old money vibes, for sure. Being poor and in my 30s, I can't imagine too many scenarios in which this would be my top pick, but it just smells so damn good that I always wanna have a sample of this around. Performance is average.

This is like a citrusy, semi-sweet shaving cream. I definitely get what people are saying about the green and the medicinal feel. I would call this a "Good" scent. Overall appealing, classic barbershop style and probably won't offend anyone. It's not bad at all, but personally I feel like there are better options for this style of fragrance or for times/places when I'd be wearing this fragrance. I'd say if you like barbershop fragrances, it's worth testing. But does this wow me? No. I got a small decant. Maybe it'll grow on me one day.

@HeyItsJoel You nailed it, mate! I couldn’t agree more. The 2012 version was absolutely incredible. The current version is still very good, but it doesn’t come close to the beautiful myrrh in the original formula. I was gutted when I found out it had been reformulated. If I ever come across a 2012 bottle, I would happily pay niche pricing for it. 🐐 I have around 60% remaining in my 2012 bottle and I am incredibly stingy with it, and rightly so. The chances of ever coming across another original are slim to none. 2012: 11/10 2017: 8/10

The opening is sharp, dry and aromatic with citrus and lavender, softened by vetiver, which eventually dries down into a slightly smoky balsamic skin scent. Performance is good overall but the sillage of the dry down can be quite intimate. It lasts for around 6 to 8 hours on my skin. Wouldn't necessarily be offensive in the summer (except maybe on the hottest days) but I think it smells best in cooler weather - it really brings out the fresher aspects of the fragrance. Overall I love this one but it's probably not blind buy safe.

This is the pinnacle of fougere frags. Don't get me wrong, Bon Viveur, Beau De Jour, Sartorial, Fougere Royale and a few others are fierce competitors. But given what you can grab this for on discount sites compared to some of those others, along with Eau Sauvage's scent profile and longevity, put this just a tick above those others. The citrus, lavender, and vetiver are just so well balanced and simultaneously bold in this, and the fact that it lasts through an entire work day just about, have really turned me into a huge fan.

Most of my other fragrances are very floral and sweet, but this is my favorite one. I've seen this described as a winter and fall scent, but I think Eau Sauvage is 100 percent a deep summer scent. It reminds me of the very heart of summer. I think it's pleasant in the winter as well as it reminds me of the barstool shaving cream reminiscent scent I was looking for when I found this scent. It feels very masculine and very feminine all at once. Gentlemanly is definitely a good word to describe it as well. Very classic.
