Eau Sauvage Parfum

Forget the baggage that comes with the Eau Sauvage name and approach Eau Sauvage Parfum with a fresh and open mind. Treat it as a brand new, distinct, entity; despite the mighty moniker it bears. You will then be free to appreciate it as the modern, characteristically Dior, fragrance that it is. My first outing with Eau Sauvage Parfum was underwhelming. Perseverance has taught me how wrong I was and that Eau Sauvage Parfum is a highly complex fragrance that one actually has to learn how to use! You can't just throw it on willy-nilly and expect to have stellar results. It really pays to take the time to discover how it interacts with the different areas of your body. Eau Sauvage Parfum is highly sensitive to the subtle temperature variations found all over your skin. The sensitivity is such that when sprayed on the front and back of the wrist it smells like two completely different scents. Hotter areas encourage a sweet myrrh to bloom and dominate, cooler areas prompt the vetiver woodiness to take centre stage. The perfect application for my body is one spray close up to a pulse point/hotspot and another from further away, with rotation, so that the cooler areas are covered too. Then repeat on a different hotspot. And even repeat again on a third spot if you feel like it. Despite its fine sillage and longevity I find Eau Sauvage Parfum to be very safe from overdoing. Applying a couple more sprays, than you would of another fragrance, will not overwhelm you, or those around you, in a negative manner. The first two hours is all about the bergamot. A lovely sweet, green, orange that is akin to putting your nose in a bag of Sensi Skunk whilst sitting in an Amsterdam cafe, circa 1990. As the bergamot fades the myrrh warms up and makes its presence felt. From this point on the main character of Eau Sauvage Parfum turns to a rich, earthy, sweetness that is borderline gourmand. Four hours in and the vetiver steps forward; its dusty, sandalwood and lavender notes ring out to proclaim that the harmonious denouement is here. Now you can expect to enjoy the deep symphony of Eau Sauvage Parfum until you drop -- which, strangely enough, is highly reminiscent of Dior Addict but in a more masculine fashion. This sumptuous fragrance reeks of Dior quality and class. I would highly recommend seeking the rewards gained from perseverance if, like me, you were somewhat disappointed at first.

If I had known the damage my wallet was going to suffer as a result of walking into the Sephora, I never would have entered. My goal for the day was to sniff both the 2017 version of Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum and Tom Ford’s Noir Anthracite. I sprayed two spritz of Anthracite under my neck and two spritz of what I thought was 2017 Eau Sauvage Parfum on my right hand. My forearms got two other colognes. Driving back in the car, I kept smelling a wonderful mélange of warm, spicy scents wafted toward me in the vented AC air. I had many other destinations that day and as the hours went, I was surprised by how long lasting both the Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum and Anthracite seemed to be. Their sillage was soft, but present, just the way I like it. At home, I had my wife sniff both the Dior Eau and Anthracite. Surprisingly, she didn’t dislike either of them. By this time, the scents I had sprayed on my forearms were long got. I knew I really liked the combination of the Sauvage Parfum and Anthracite, but didn’t know exactly what was contributing to the overall olfactory experience. I was in love and decided I had to buy both the Anthracite and the Eau Sauvage Parfum the next day. After the purchase, I looked closely at the Eau Sauvage Parfum bottle compared to the Fragrantica photograph and noticed the label was different on the bottle I purchased, silver letters on a black background vs. the 2017 version of black letters on a silver background. What? It turns out the 2017 version isn’t yet available in the US and I purchased the 2012 version with a lot number from 2012. Okay, I bought a discontinued 2012 version scent and really loved it. Of course, I had to purchase two more bottles, hence the wound to my wallet. One of those bottles is from a 2016 batch which is a bit darker with less opening citrus blast than the 2012 vintage. In both vintages, the citrus at the beginning comes on moderately, then decays within the first thirty or forty minutes, leaving behind a warm effervescent myrrh. When combined with the cool dryness of Tom Ford’s Noir Anthracite, the warmth and sweetness of the myrrh gives a sweet and sour combination that’s too wonderful to be described.

Elegant, classy and indulgence are three words to describe this everlasting masterpiece. It took me 4 months to write my review about this because it has such a depth which cannot be explained in words, one must need to go through the alluring olfactory journey with this. With only three notes listed here it seems impossible to create such a master piece, but here we have created by Francois Demachy. hands down. too bad it is discontinued, yes it seems not be appreciated by general underdeveloped noses out there but the Dior should had to consider the fragrance enthusiasts like us who always appreciate such creations and want to purchase it again and again, another terrible loss of such a brilliant frag. so much associations, one can have with this fragrance. it is classy,can remind you the golden age of perfumery i.e 80's or 90's. but not at all an outdated perfume at all. yes it is more suited to a mature person having a CEO type personality. Starts off by the conventional blast of Bergamot but not at all generic because of the depth of other ingredients behind it. after 10 to 20 minutes the main theme of perfume starting to come up i.e the note of Myrrh with Vetiver in the background. this is the most enjoyable part of this fragrance.you will have the decreasing effect of Bergamot locked with Myrrh which will be giving sweetness to this frag but at the same time the Vetiver will be fighting for its dark and rich trail, result is a stunning elegant fragrance very hard to describe here in words. As time goes the bergamot is the first note to disappear then Vetiver, in the end you will have incensy sweetness of Myrrh which can last upto several days on your clothes. Overall: 9.8/10 Fragrance: 10/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10 Versatility: 7/10 Quality of ingredients: 10/10 Price: 8/10 Highly recommended to mature Nose,not for kids :-) i am looking into stores around here to stock as much as i can.

With Eau Sauvage Parfum, we are very close to perfection as far as designer fragrances go. I had this small sample from 2013 (batch 3P01) that was waiting to be tested, and I'm almost angry at myself to have waited so long! If it's not for the beautiful dark lavender note in the opening, supported by lighter citrusy notes and that scream masculinity from every molecules; maybe you'll love ESP for its outstanding incensy and smoky myrrh which reminds at times of a beautiful and majestic gothic cathedral, at times a refined, old barbershop all wood and leather sofas. The transition between the lavander and the myrrh, to me, is so natural and well crafted that I cannot stop smelling my arm. The drydown offers more masculinity, a softer version of it - like a loving father caught in a more intimate moment with his family. I also smell a bit of chinotto, which is usually bittersweet and darker among citruses, but might be just the myrrh working with the bergamot in the opening, or the sweetness of the patchouly going hand in hand with the smoky side of the myrrh/vetiver (which I do not smell). Dior ESP is a classy and refined perfume, with a luscious sweet drydown whose slightly powdery patchouli, and what's left of the myrrh, completely fills the room. I've had many people getting into my office today and asking what was that fantastic scent - and I just spritzed twice on my arm! Projection is really enormous as is its longevity - it's already more than 10 hours since I sprayed it and it is still totally present and projecting in the room and on my arm. You may like or dislike (I love!) the single notes in ESP, but you cannot remain indifferent to the art and craft behind its creation; it's timeless, it's a masterpiece. I haven't tried the "new" 2017 version yet - unfortunately, this splendid juice in its 2012 formulation has been discontinued.

There’s not much more I can say about this that hasn’t already been said here but I’ll throw in my penny’s-worth: Eau Sauvage Parfum (2012) is a work of utter GENIUS!! As has been noted before; how can such an incredible fragrance be devised and blended from so few elements? It is quite unique and I’m sure a lot of people will be put off by its intensity and the myrrh note certainly won’t be for everyone but if you’re looking for a distinctive fragrance for evening wear, then you could do a lot worse. The deep green colour of the original in the classic Eau Sauvage bottle style and black labelling is a joy too: it looks so opulent! I personally prefer the 2012 version over the 2017 re-issue/re-blend but I can’t say that the difference is that drastic to totally slate the newer version but given the option, I’d go for the original every time. Disturbingly, I’ve noticed some of the perfume chain stores in London still using the 2012 version as the tester, whilst selling the 2017 version on the shelves, which is out of order. I’ve said it to them when I’ve seen it but just get blank looks! Definitely a fragrance for the more mature gent, 35+ that will get you noticed. I’ve had a lot of compliments with this one but also the odd ‘that’s unusual’ comments too. If you can find this original version at a half decent price then definitely grab it as it’s becoming quite scarce now but if you’ve never gotten your nose on it then try the newer version to give you an approximation of the original. I’ve never understood why ESP was put out as a flanker to the original Eau Sauvage and I could also say the same for Eau Sauvage Extreme before that too but they are all great fragrances in their own right, while bearing no discernible similarity to each other. Just accept and enjoy them on their own individual merits and you won’t go far wrong!

This one was not love at first sniff at all. I revisited it later in my “journey” after finding out I enjoy myrrh more and more when well used. Like in the amazing Epic Man by Amouage or the visibly polarizing Tom Ford Noir EDP that are big favorites of mine. So I thought it was time for me to test this one again especially that vetiver is my favorite note. And this time the magic occurred. Eau Sauvage Parfum exploits most of the attributes and possibilities of myrrh: Its rather oily, lightly smoky, quite rubbery, dark and creamy “sweet-ish-ness”, like black vanilla. This gives some depth to an otherwise simple fragrance. And for people who don’t enjoy vetiver as much as I do, the resin smooths it out and prevents it from being possibly too bitter, sharp, green or raw while those properties are still there, at different levels, helped by green citrus but without stealing the spotlight from the preeminent myrrh. If unlike me you do believe in occasions for fragrances, this one I can say is a prime example of a formal, "suit & tie" and mature, while not dated, scent ... With very good quality in its ingredients! It is really not like the classic Eau Sauvage. For that the newer version would bring you closer, which as a flanker is a good thing.I truly love this one now and I’ll probably grab another bottle before the original version is gone for good. Like Leonardo da Vinci allegedly said, simplicity CAN be the ultimate sophistication! It certainly applies to Eau Sauvage Parfum. Pure class.

Eau Sauvage EDP is masculine, intriguing, powerful, beautiful, and dark. It shares the herbal and mossy notes with Eau Sauvage EDT, but as time goes on, the EDP is taken over by myrrh and musk, with hints of vanilla and spice. The citrus notes of Eau Sauvage EDT are much reduced in favor of these darker scents. This scent has more of a fall to winter feel for me, as compared to the EDT or the Eau Sauvage aftershave. But I think it's beautiful and could be worn any day of the year, and almost any occasion. This projects much more strongly than the EDT, and the scent seems to stay fuller longer. It never turns bad, so even after it stops projecting, you can sniff your shirt and feel great all over again. There's only one caveat in my mind, and here it is: One or more of the ingredients in here can really induce headaches in some people. So I can't wear this very often. It might be for the best, as it can give me a slight headache occasionally too. I am sure it's one of the unlisted "parfum" ingredients. It's not hedione, as that is in the EDT, which doesn't bother anyone in my family. I wish perfumers would list their ingredients so I could figure it out more easily. These impressions are based on a decant of Eau Sauvage EDP, which is probably from the 2017 formulation (but it could be 2012, and I can't say for sure). In summary, it's amazing! ... But I would recommend testing it before you buy a big bottle.

Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (2012) is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite fragrance of all time, and I seriously doubt anything will ever top it. This masterpiece takes the classic citrus-aromatic composition of the original Eau Sauvage and elevates it to new heights. The freshness of the bergamot in the opening is undeniably invigorating, but it’s the heart of myrrh and the dry, woody vetiver in the base that truly make this fragrance stand out. They give it a depth and complexity that is both sophisticated and unmistakably masculine. What I love most is how the fragrance maintains that timeless, fresh energy, yet feels more refined and intense with every wear. It's a perfect balance of brightness and warmth, capturing the essence of strength without being overpowering. The way the myrrh adds a mysterious twist to the otherwise clean, citrus-forward composition is absolutely captivating. It’s the kind of scent that feels luxurious, confident, and effortless all at once. Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum has become my signature scent, and every time I wear it, I’m reminded of why it’s my favorite. It’s the perfect blend of tradition and modernity, and I truly believe that no fragrance will ever surpass it in my collection. Simply put, it’s an irreplaceable classic that I’ll always cherish. I have a bottle vintage Eau Sauvage from the 70's and this is not it if that's what you're looking for. This is richer and more elegant fragrance maybe a bit more feminine but not too much, any confident guy could pull this off. This is very classy with great performance which is what the EDT was/is lacking. I initial thought was this fragrance is best suited for an event where you are wearing a suit, maybe a wedding, but honestly it can be worn in any wardrobe, summer or winter, day or night. That is the brilliance of Eau Sauvage. It is a masterpiece suitable for anytime anywhere. If you are looking for an EDP closer to the original version, the 2017 formulation is a closer representation of the 1960's fragrance in opening but within an hour the 2011 and 2017 versions are very close and the 2012 version performs better in longevity. EDIT: I've been wearing this for about 2 weeks straight. People say you can't wear this in hot weather because it is a beast but I disagree. This is a solid fragrance that should be worn year around. It may be better for a more distinguished (40+) age group but younger men should evaluate it for themselves because it rocks. Dior nailed this!

Using this for a couple of years now, this one is just a masterpiece. The best part is that it is not very well known comparing to the top selling fragrances. Eau Sauvage Parfum is a true classic, very rich and well balanced aroma. The myrh is the star of this perfume, it shines in every way, it is a warm and kind of sweet myrh. It ́s use is more proper in the fall and winter days, because it will warm you and confort you in the cold weather, it could be wearable casual, but with a formal dressing it will be perfect. The performance of this is proper for a real EDP, I tested to check it, and longevity in my skin more than 24 hours and half arm my wife still smell it on me with a good sillage. And it is not normal for me the fragrances go up more than 8 hours, so this is a really BMGS- Beast Mode Good Smelling. This was discontinued and it was not sold in many perfumary, only very few had it, so it is very hard to find this fragrance and the prices will go up for a bottle in places that sell online. Rate Smell: 10 (0-10) Longivity my skin: 10 (0-10) Projection 10 (0-10) Sillage 10 (0-10) It is one of my great perfumes, it will be hard when my two bottles ended.

Neoclassic Beauty (Francois Demachy, 2012) Scentrack: Andy Williams – Wives and Lovers I’m not a fan of classic Dior’s Eau Sauvage, but with Eau Sauvage Parfum is totally another story. Allegedly composed of three notes only, but I can sense some layers underneath. Eau Sauvage opens with a bitter and remarkable note of bergamot. It’s very natural, potent long lasting, and not as synthetic as felt in latter Dior Sauvage. The bergamot is immediately followed by dry and mildly sweet miro resin, so masterfully executed, and pale flowers of osmanthus. I can sense some whiffs of curry, due to the possible use of immortelle like in Eau Noire. The base is consisted of slightly smoky and green vetiver notes. Classic, barbershop mature and unpretentious. Fresh like a cologne, and substantial like a cold weather fragrance at the same time. It even has got some Shalimar-like nuances. A lovely addition to the Dior’s line up, and easily could fit in their Privee line. The Mediterranean meets Oriental resins in a classic, but chic manner. This is Alain Delon in a bottle. Rating: 9.5/10

Oh Lord have mercy on my nose. This is what sex in a bottle and what MAN should smell like. Deep, dark, modern, and intoxicating this fragrance is. Original Eau Sauvage is not for me, a bit older for my taste, yet this little gem was PERFECT. Upon spraying this on my wrist I thought to myself "Would people around me be okay with me smelling like this?" then I let my lady sniff it, and literally I saw her face light up "What is that?!" I was surprised, pointed to the bottle and: 1. She mentioned how great the bottle looks 2. How unique it smelled from what we were sniffing around in Sephora 3. She said this is MANLY I asked the Sephora worker if she liked this as well for a second opinion and she had the same reaction "What is this?!""Oh that's one of our newer ones, it's really nice on you" Granted that could have been her sales side coming out, but the initial reaction said it all. I get great longevity and projection from this guy, my girlfriend kept asking to sniff my wrist. I cannot wait for Winter to come, this Dior masterpiece is going to SHINE.

This perfume is dark, dense, and bold. Meant for someone with very specific taste so it won’t be for everyone. I get some beautiful green notes with a resinous amber-like myrrh, While I get an amber vibe from the base, it never actually feels sweet due to the green notes up top. This is a mostly linear scent but the notes always remain present and distinct which, to me, screams high quality. The fragrance is meant for someone who wears what he likes and doesn’t need other folks to tell him what he should wear. I wouldn’t call this daring, but its certainly not going to be a mass pleasing scent. It has an old school vibe without being animaliic or smelling dated. This is a modern and mature masterpiece. Performance is very impressive with well over 8 hours longevity and a nice, but not too strong, projection throughout the entire duration. Sad to see this one go, but I will always cherish having it in my wardrobe. Without a doubt in my mind, this earns a 10/10.

I simply love this fragrance. Bottle is very classy and the deep olive colour juice is also very attractive. Opening is deep and citrusy and smells complex and 'expensive'. Within an hour it transitions into dark, authoritative minty admixture of vetiver and myrrh. This drydown was somewhat surprising at first and initially I found it offputting. I now love this. I think it is one of those acquired taste type fragrances, to an extent. It is definitely rubbery and somehow reminds me of fahrenheit a bit, but with more complexity with a hint of 'dark' freshness. I think it would be suitable for most situations excpet very hot weather. I don't think it smells old at all and young men in ther 20's should have no problem but it might smell a bit weird on a teenager. Overall, an artistic fragrance. I am curious to try the 2017 version and the edt as well. Scent: 9.5/10 Sillage: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10

Vertiver is a note I sometimes struggle with and unlike most people, I strongly associate it with hot weather. Here it is done to absolute perfection combined with the zingy citron in the top and lavender in the mid. The myrrh adds a dark smoky sweetness so that the perfume comes together as a beautiful cooling green balm; exactly as the juice color would suggest. A true any time, any occasion scent but personally love it on a particularly hot day where it absolutely radiates in the best possible way. The 2017 version is just as good with the elemi providing a similar affect although in a slightly different way. Brilliant perfumery given how well it captures the overall vibe of the original EdS while taking it in a new direction. Would be interesting to see this attempted in other old school EdCs- Eau de Hermes Parfum??? Would love to see Demachy run this playbook on that!

Eau Sauvage Parfum stands as one of best creations of the 2000s, demonstrating that a house like Dior, under the guidance of Demachy, could clearly reinvent the wheel while preserving the core dna of a beloved. Unlike the current direction taken by Kurkdjian, which is quite disapointing. Parfum 2012 is, in my opinion, one of the finest myrrh fragrances there is, skillfully intertwining the essence of myrrh and incense, along with the core dna of the original, resulting in a gentlemanly barbershop experience. While the re-release is decent, it fails to encapsulate the elegance of the 2012 original. It's like a captain who has been stripped of his rank, or a mere clone striving to replicate a fragrance. As noted by richmilton, experiencing the original can totally diminish the enjoyment of the re-release. A damn near masterpiece in my book.

100% perfection in a bottle. Class, sophistication, and elegance. Black label reigns supreme to every “gentleman” fragrance, IMO. Edit 06/16/2026: Stood in front of my spring/summer rotation for a few minutes yesterday and couldn't decide what to wear for a golf tournament. Mid-High 70's and sunny. I usually wear Terre d'Hermes EDT or Dior Homme 2020 when I golf but wasn't feeling it. Dug through waaaay too many boxes and pulled out Sauvage Parfum (black label). Didn't even think twice and sprayed on my polo and neck! I forgot how much I missed this and how wonderful it is. I know it's not for everyone but in the open air outside in the sun, this stuff shines! Sadly, it didn't help me with my golf game and shot a 91. But, on the bright side, I was able to use one of my grail frags and thoroughly enjoy it for the entire day!

Hello guys, Looking into my collection I forgot that I have Dior Eau Sauvage PARFUM. Tbo, I even forgot how it smells, thats why I sprayed it 2x on my forearm 5 minutes ago. On my skin it opens like someone squeezed a fresh lemon zest on my skin with little bit of bergamot juice, then it transits to vetiver which is clean here and I really like it. Will update a little bit later again but as I can see this scent can be worn throughout all year, maybe not on summer day but temperatures between 0-25 degrees celsius in a white shirt ocassion with ease! Update: After 3h of wear it’s all about the myrrh. Gentlemanly, 35+ men should be the crowd for this. Longevity: 8h Sillage: Moderate

I have a late 2014 tester bottle which I absolutely adore. Having 50ml remaining of the original 100ml, I decided to seek out a backup bottle. I have tried bottles from 2015 and 2016, and have been utterly disappointed with the longevity and overall depth of the fragrance. I'm unsure if I have simply been unlucky with the three bottles I have tried, or if the company (or IFRA) decided that a reformulation was required. Is this possibly why the fragrance was re-released in 2017? Aim for an earlier bottle if you can - my tester has 'DEMONSTRATION' embossed on the rear black band, and not etched into the glass on the base. The batch code of my bottle is '4Z01'.

Best blind buy Ive ever done. I got the 2012. Wow this is way better than I even expected. The smell Makes me think of Las Vegas at night. Sweet smells with some cigar smoke too. It is a brilliant mix of resinous but slightly sweetened almost gourmand-y Smokey, bitter, dark, but also a bit orange blossom too, energetic, magic. I swear I get a deep narcotic orange blossom in there and a slight vanilla note. But it is mostly Smokey bergamot which is so interesting. Another fragrance that has given me this imagery in my mind is creed erolfa. Very Different scents but there is a vibe that they share. And this one is better

در عین حالی که کلاسیک هست این عطر مدرن هم هست عین عطرای کلاسیک قدیمی نیست یعنی میشه گفت یه عطر کلاسیک برای نسل امروز بوی خیلی اشنایی داره باید باهاش زندگی کنی تا بفهمی این عطرو ت. اب و هوای خاص به نظر من تغییر میکنه بوش مثلا تو هوای بارونی یجوره تو هوای خیلی سرد یجوره دیگه من حقیقتا هر بار که استفاده میکنم برام تازگی داره و انگار نه انگار که این همون عطر هست درود به شرف سازنده این عطر نوستالژیه جدید اسمیه که من روش میزارم شاید همه پسند نباشه ولی معرکه اس تست کردنشو توی چند مدل اب و هوای خاص پیشنهاد میدم مطمئن باشید عاشقش میشید پخش بو 9.5/10 ماندگاری9.5/10 کیفیت رایحه 9.5/10 ومن الله التوفیق

At first, this was a shaky thumbs up. I honestly didn't care for the opening of MYRRH, MYRRH, CITRON and MYRRH. That was in 2016, when I first got the fragrance. Now though... WOW! What an amazing and stunning fragrance. There are vibes of different juices I get in the opening depending on what my nose picks up first. I do really enjoy the fragrance from start to finish. It is strong on my skin and last 8 plus hours. Nice mix of the myrrh and vetiver at the end. Spring, fall and winter would be the best times to wear this juice IMO. Try before you buy due to pricing... otherwise, Enjoy!

I held off on buying this before, but with my 30th birthday around the corner I felt the time is right. I was fortunate enough to find a bottle from 2013. This stuff is potent indeed. There is no need to over spray, have mercy on those around you. Well blended, refined, smooth, classy. That's what this is. I wouldn't limit this to just 'special occasions', but I wouldn't wear it regularly either. Maybe that has more to do with wanting to conserve what I have though. I haven't tried the newer 2017 version, but I can't imagine it being better than this. This is was perfect as it is.

Eau Sauvage Parfum will someday be sought after like no other fragrance in Dior's history. That's my prediction. Get a bottle if you can. In 10 years send me a thank you letter. Notes about this Masterpiece: 1. Ahead of it's time. It's like a futuristic scent released in 2030, 2. Combination of masculine and freshness... very rare nowadays 3. 100% a male scent. (Sorry ladies). This should be named #MGTOW 4. Combines the legend vibe of Eau Sauvage with added masculinity 5. Unapologetic scent. Even a little weird. But undeniably unforgettable. LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's given me compliments, which is probably due to the sillage and longevity ("i'm so thankful you smell good", the nurse said). the myrrh is just heavenly, but i'm a myrrh fan. if you are disgusted by myrrh (which is sacrilegious in my fragrance taste), than it probably won't be for you. also, if you are perturbed or disgusted by iso-e-super, it probably won't be for you. iso-e isn't listed in the ingredients, but based upon my experience with "encre noire", it's there all right. a peppery woody nuance, to put it lightly...a synthetic nightmare if you hate it.

Amazing Fragrance! I have now owned my bottle for about a week and it has literally exceeded all expectations. Longevity is amazing. Projection is amazing. And the scent will evolve as the day goes on. Pure class is all I got to say. You can tell from the nozzle that this is a well crafted scent. I would give this a 9.5 out of 10. The only reason I don’t give this a 10 is because I don’t think this can be worn in warm weather but other than that, this is one heck a fragrance. My bottle is the one with the all black label that surrounds the bottle.

I like this specific version - Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 - better than any other I've tried. I thought it was deeper and greener, and it didn't have the vanilla drydown that I can't stand in the 2017 re-launch. Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 is a very mature scent, which is why I didn't buy it at the time. I thought I was too young for it, and I was right about that, too. Now in my late 30es, I think I'm probably still a bit young for it. But I wish I had bought it anyway because now this version is discontinued, what a bummer.

I have a 10ml of this one, and I had a full bottle of the 2017 version. This one have the best opening, the 2017 opening is cloying and too bright, too heavy. Both are amazing after that. Maybe this one is a bit darker, a touch more mature. But both smells deep, gorgeous... If I could, I would get the 2012 just for the pleasure of having it. I sold my 2017, because I find it hard for me to wear it tbh. It shines with a mature wearer, it's hard to wear it right if you're under 35-40 minimum, with a good dress code.

It's a classy, old man-ish scent. Citrus and vetiver really dominate for me. Very smooth but probably best fits an older business type. Not lots of versatility - fits a sport coat/suit and tie look best. I consider it more of a daytime scent. Isn't really seductive or date appropriate. Lasts 10-12 hours on me. Insane monster longevity. Good projection for 6+ hours, too. 7.75/10 for me. Worth getting a sample if you can. Not full bottle worthy for me, as it is limited in use, but I'm glad I have a 10ml decant.

A beautiful composition consisting mostly of three notes; a top note of bergamot, heart note of myrrh resin, and a base note of vetiver. Together it forms a dense, warm, and smooth balsamic scent that is perfect for when the weather gets a bit colder. In my opinion, the 2017 version is closer to the original Eau Sauvage and a lot more versatile, but this one is a lot more beautiful. A masterpiece that I will always try to have a bottle of even though they are now difficult to find.

I was lucky enough to find the 2012 version of this in my country. At first I was taken aback, I thought it was very sharp and stingy, unlike the type of scents I usually wear, very mature and masculine. Now that I've been wearing it more, I love it more and more, specially the dry down, how it evolves and changes and its commanding presence. There is a rich and opulent floral brilliance at the heart of this perfume. It is sweet and creamy without being feminine or cloying. I have over 450 fragrances, been collecting for 20+ years. Eau Sauvage Parfum 2012 is my wife's favorite of all time. Even her sister is hunting down a bottle for her man. ESP 2012 is the perfect combination of class, wealth and masculinity. All put together in an unbeatable and unforgettable composition. WTF why would they discontinue this? The 2017 is okay but stripped down to be more mass appealing. Get the OG and you'll be hunting a backup bottle I guarantee it.

Classical masculine masterpiece. Strong Aromatic bergamot / vetiver with inscense background with superb quality and performance. One of the best bergamot based fragrances in the designers category. Note: since eau sauvage parfume is hardly discounted, if you want to get similar vibe "although different", try guerlain vetiver extreme. Its citrus/ vetiver/ inscense combo is close and guerlain can be found heavily discounted plus it has amazing quality.

Eau Sauvage Parfum has an amazing dark bottle with magnetic cap and a lovely dark green color. Opens with a very strong, dark and smoky citric scent. Later the note that is the most prominent is the myrrh. One of the best Vetiver based fragrance on the market. The more you wear it, the more you love it. It has the best longevity and sillage among Vetiver based fragrances I have ever tried. • Scent: 9/10 • Sillage: 9/10 • Longevity: 9/10 • Bottle: 9/10

What an absolute gem !!!! I can’t believe Dior fumbled so badly by reformulating this. A “dark” citrus aromatic- that myrrh is pure magic. This starts off with toned down citrus and resinous wood but dries down to a beautiful creamy wood- almost like 2 frags in 1. Whereas the new formulation has brighter citrus and isn’t nearly as interesting in the drydown. I wish I had discovered this earlier, def would’ve grabbed a few bottles of this.

I am soooo glad I bought 2 bottles of the vintage. It is such a gorgeous smell. I would have never thought resins and citrus would make such a beautiful product. The scent is very natural smelling, no synthetics. Whenever I wear this my confidence boosts up 50% :-) I can only speak for the vintage: The scent is a 10/10 Longevity is a 10/10 Projection is a 10/10 If you can find a vintage bottle for a decent price, get it!!! Eau Sauvage EDP is classy yet unpretentious - crisp, fresh, and lemon-y, with a resinous-woody dimension not present in the earlier iterations that seems to be the foundation for its improved longevity. The EDP and the black label Extrème complement one another supremely well - layering one over the other consolidates without overwhelming, and really improves longevity - enough to make it through a nuit blanche.

Absolutely gorgeous. Heavy, sophisticated leathery woody scent. I don't get any resemblance with the original Eau Sauvage, although there are probably more similarities than I can detect. This is truly for the older gentleman crowd, nighttime in winter. Not for the office, or for casual wear, this is for the special occasions. Got many compliments. It's a sure keeper for the next winters.

This was one of the first fragrances I ever purchased back in 2014. and since then and after collecting more than 200 bottles of niche, designers and whatnot. This remains in my top 5 fragrances for life. the elegance of the bergamot combined with myrrh is far from being compared with anything else. What a masterpiece indeed. the 2017 re-make is disappointing though.

Dior could have put this in "Maison Dior Line of fragrances" (Previously known as privee line) and this could have been the top seller among all the line. sometimes when the fragrance is cheaper and available we undermine it. but this one is pure craftsmanship along with Dior Homme Parfum is also Privee line worthy, not only worthy but would be even top sellers.

Very high quality fragrance! Very rich, dark and distinguished. it testifies to the quality of this line. The opening of bergamot followed by a dry woody note combined perfectly with the deep and resinous note of myrrh, give this fragrance a unique alluring that i've never smelled before. Only for the people who know how to be classy. Masterpiece!

Rich, dense and resinous. Very pleasing to my nose; I can't stop sniffing it! I wouldn't say this is close to the original Eau Sauvage as the citrus takes a back seat here. This is all about the myrrh. I see this as more of a reserved, but confident gentleman's scent. Wear this in a professional setting, not in a casual social gathering or date.

Was my signature scent until they broke it, now the remaining juice I have is saved for special occasions. Luxurious, enveloping and comforting. I don't have the money or the trappings that the scent summons to mind, but I wear it and love it all the same. Massive compliment puller with incredible performance. One of my all time favourites.

@FragMaster - It's already been discontinued! Prices are going up and up on it. My opinion of this has changed over time, I don't think it's amazing. In fact I prefer the reformulated 2017 which is stronger and fresher, in theory I should like this one more but there's something to the 2017 that works better for me. I'd rate it 7.5-8/10

This man is a rock, he's alluring but kind, his smile is as bright as sunny bergamot, but his voice is as deep as the Myrrh coming out of his chest. He is strong and hypnotizing, a leader, cannot be led, you can only go to him. you can only obey and you like it because you are under his spell. this man is wearing this perfume.

as many have written the opening is very sharp like a citric-acidic almost gone bad but after a few minutes myrrh, patchouli and vetiver make this bottle the most fantastic commercial perfume ever created. clean but not too much, dark but not too much, balsamic, masculine. longevity 36 hours. fantastic sillage. 10/10

Why anyone would buy Sauvage or Fahrenheit over this is beyond me. To my nose this smells much better than the former two. The scent is at least 9/10 in my opinion. Another plus is, that I feel like this scent isn't talked about as much as Sauvage and Fahrenheit, so it stands out more, because less people wear it.

This one keeps me questioning myself “why do I keep buying fragrances” this is it, this is all I need, but a fragrance like this one makes me curious if I can find another one on the same level so I keep buying fragrances and so far after having more than 100 fragrances, this still is in my top 5 for life.
