Gris Dior New Look Limited Edition

I love Gris Dior so much. This particular bottle has the houndstooth/New Look etched on the glass and I purchased it by mistake. The scent is the exact same as regular Gris Dior but the bottle itself is a limited edition. Starts with fresh bergamot and turns warm and sultry as the day goes by. Patchouli and oakmoss with amber and sandalwood in the dry down. One of my favorites to wear in cold weather. It’s so beautiful and comforting to me. Absolutely one of the best fragrances from this line!

I've loved Gris Dior for some time and was excited too try the New Look. I must admit that the first impression was very disconcerting. I don't know what my nose responded to, but the initial reaction was of a metallic scent. It was quite strong and persisted 20 minutes. So unexpected. After my confusion, I decided it's definitely more masculine and actually intriguing. Nothing like my first impression on spraying Gris Dior. All that said, the dry down is absolutely deliciously wonderful, I want to smell like this forever. It's in the dry down that the legendary Gris Dior makes a presence. Now that I know what to expect, I'll certainty try again and see if my olfactory discernment improves.

This is simply a limited edition bottle with the same scent inside. Just take a look at the formula code and ingredients: They are the same! Formula code on both the regular and New Look version is 16060. Thus, they are the same. And, no, they cannot lie about these things. Why would they? Release a limited edition with a new scent inside, but write the same formula code on it? Makes no sense. Anyway, people here are saying that they can smell a difference between this one and the regular version, which proves something: Our sense of smell is EASILY fooled by outer factors. Put the same scent in a new bottle, and people will swear its either different or reformulated. On the basis of this fact, how do we even begin to judge reformulations, if we can't even tell if the same scent is simply used in two different bottles?

Just like it says in the paragraph above: this is a new fragrance. Yes, it is slightly different from the original. Original has more cedar , a little more amber. The new edition is very heavy rose, oakmoss, and patchouli. A bit more bergamot upon opening. New edition is less sweet, less amber. I enjoy the new edition more. It is more rich and earthy. In my opinion, new edition has more depth. Very heavy oil based.

Same opening as La colle noir, exact same iris dry down as SHL panthea iris.... love the opening (i'm a guy) but leans feminine and while the dry down is a nice butter orris/iris i'm not a fan of iris/orris
