Hypnotic Poison Eau de Parfum

got this as a blind buy having remembered my mom owning a midnight poison miniature as a child(i was so in love with it), unfortunately it was discontinued but i saw this one and despite it obviously being very very different from midnight poison i wanted to try it. since i can now afford to start my own perfume collection i figured there was no harm in some trial and error. the bottle was nostalgic enough. i think it’s important to say that i am relatively new to trying out perfumes for all it’s worth and before buying this i hadn’t tried any perfumes with anise/liquorice notes, when i bought this all i had prior was memories of my moms perfumes, as well as a small bottle of jean paul gaultier divine la parfum which was the first to my collection. that said, i am reviewing now having tried many more perfumes(including similar ones mentioned in the reviews here) and none have been as good as hypnotic poison. she’s so yummy and delicious, while also being so complex. the liquorice note is strong to start, and i LOVE it. it gives mystery, it gives class. i was initially afraid of it being bitter but it’s not bitter at all on me, it’s sweet yet has a distinct edge. the vanilla and almond make it feel very full and warm, the vanilla isn’t gourmand but more earthy to me. there’s also something in it that gives me the sense of a warm fire. not a cackling fire, but embers. despite some reviews saying it’s not cozy, i think it is very cozy, at least on me. it has a very comforting smell. all that said, it usually lasts me the full work day and i can usually still smell it before my shower after work. the sillage is moderate/strong for the first couple hours and fades to moderate near the end of the day. overall she’s dark and alluring, gothic, but with a warm feisty edge. a great perfume for any alternative girlies out there. (definitely a deep cut for a site like this but iykyk, this is what i imagine morrigan from dragon age would smell like) 10/10.

To put it very simply: this one is sticking with me for a lifetime. To say I love Hypnotic Poison is an understatement, no, this perfume is quite literally the love of my life!!! There is something very comforting about it that it makes me happy. I wore my friend’s EDT a few years ago on a night out, when I went back home, I just couldn’t part with the scent that was left on my skin. A year later, I got gifted the EDP version. The Poison DNA is there, but this one is much sweeter than the OG Poison. When you first spray the perfume, the opening is forward on the licorice. there’s a long way before the dry down where you start smelling the orange blossom and jasmine notes. Personally, I can only distinguish the almond note after an hour or two. And after many hours later, you’re left with the sweet notes of vanilla and tonka beans, you can still smell hints of licorice and almonds, a scent that in my opinion is a masterpiece. Nothing ever compares. Hypnotic Poison is an elegant, sensual yet mysterious perfume, ideal for nights out, or do whatever you please, it’s literally perfect. I can see why some say Hypnotic Poison smells like Playdoh and I don’t care, I mean does Playdoh stink? In fact I also do think Poison smells like Barbie doll’s plastic but it doesn’t keep me from wearing it to work. I got sooo many compliments wearing this scent so if you like almond notes, maybe if you like YSL Libre Intense, Mon Guerlain or Tom Ford’s Lost Cherry, I think you’d enjoy this scent (assuming that these three are also my favorites so we might have the same taste). I like to layer it with Victoria’s Secret’s Amber Romance, it doesn’t change much of the scent, only brings out more of the vanilla and tonka notes. Longevity : 100/10 Sillage : 10/10 Scent : plus infinity

A super quality licorice bomb. That's how I would describe Hypnotic Poison edp. At the first spray, you will get a licorice and almond combo. The almond gives a bitterish, I could say even fresh touch to this fragrance. The vanilla is also present, but not the main character in here. My bf smelled coconut, but I couldn't identify any. I find this somehow creamy on the drydown, but I can"t tell from what. Maybe some sandal wood which is not listed here haha. This is not a common vanilla and tonka scent. The licorice and almond give this its uniqueness, although I have that feeling that I have smelled this somewhere else in the past. The longevity is a downside, as I would've expected for it to last more. Not great, not terrible :') Anyways, I think that it might be possible to go noseblind after a while and probably that's why I can't smell it after 4-5 hours or so, and I feel just a faded skin scent. Anyways, I will continue to test it to see how it behaves. Come with an update maybe. In conclusion, I love this fragrance. I love its uniqueness, I love that it is not that super sugary sweet kimd of perfume, it is a grown up type of fragrance, and you need to have certain personality to wear this. Maybe I will also try the edt version. I have read comments in which people said this is discontinued. I hope not. I saw comments dated even from 2017, so hopefully this is just false news and the edp is just rare like Dior Homme Parfum :)

I am a tried and true poison girl lover... that was, until recently. Over the past couple years I have moved from super sweet perfumes like poison girl and Black Opium . And for so many years I have lusted over the EDT Hypnotic Poison, on other people. Its so rich and lush and entices you in! But, I cant wear the EDT. Its so overwhelming when its on, and all I can smell is vanilla, almond and musk and need to wash it off.. The lady at our perfume counter suggested I tried the EDP. Which I instantly liked, but then it went through a real EDT moment and I smelt the same overwhelming notes again... Until I got home an hour later.. and fell in love. Madly in love. What was once a sickly almond vanilla latte on my arm, had suddenly morphed into a alluring rich scent. It was sexy and sophisticated and definately lived up to its name, where you just can’t quite put your finger on what it is about hypnotic Poison.. but there most certainly is something. Perhaps its the sambac jasmine and tonka bean. Whatever is it, this one will keep you guessing.. in only the best of ways. If you want a sweet, gorgeous, pretty fragrance, try poison girl. If you want your almond to call the shots, and entice people in, go EDT Hypnotic Poison, if you want a mysterious, alluring, all rounded but not sweet at all fragrance, EDP Hypnotic Poison is for you. Just giver her time to settle down (;

Amber (as in the benzoin-labdanum-vanilla blend), a bitter cyanide-like almond, a hint of licorice and a deep tonka/vanilla accord to round it all out. The scent reminds me of my grandma, whom I loved, and I think she used some sort of a fragrance similar to this as her coats often smelled similarly to this - that being said, it doesn't smell nothing like naphtalene or lavender so it's a pretty safe scent for bug-spray-profile haters. My partner sees this as a spicy vanilla scent, which while not technically correct does convey the approximately accurate profile. It's a very deep ambery-almondy scent, and I enjoy it a lot. It feels really nice to wear during the winter times, but it really isn't appropriate for higher temps due to the opulent profile. The white florals make it a bit "sexy", but overall the scent is blended so well that it's hard to distinguish the notes. It's quite sweet, deep scent, and feels profoundly homely to me. Has a bit of a vintage vibe, but unlike the regular HP it does not have that overwhelming play-doh vibe. It smells like red lipstick and heels, a relaxed attitude, fur coats and love. A beloved kooky bookworm aunt that cleans up nice. A classical music orchestra. The colours of gray navy blue, dried blood red and burnt mahogany brown. The sound of oboe or a cello. It's just a really nice, approachable deep winter&autumn scent.

one of my favourite perfumes oat, specifically the edp i find it just has that bitter dark note that im looking for. a super gothic, sexy and mysterious fragrance. the vanilla and nut notes smell amazing and the tonka gives it a nice depth to make this super deep enveloping scent. the longevity and sillage is amazing and it lasts forever on clothing atleast 3-4 days minimum i have found. another thing i enjoy is, there are not as many dupes of the edp specifically so it's great for a signature scent that you want to feel truly unique. i find it to be feminine leaning but can be unisex (i find it smells like joop homme slightly). it's a super addictive scent and one i always reach for and is easy to scent layer and you can lean into different aspects of the gourmand notes for an even more unique scent. it does however to me feel like a strict nighttime winter/autumn fragrance (that will however not stop me from wearing it) and does not work the best in high heat or humidity. to me it evokes the image of a tall independant woman, very sleek, mysterious and commands all eyes to her, a scent that radiates confidence and a unique story.

I absolutely adore this version of hypnotic poison!! It does have a more “vintage” or “mature” vibe - I think it’s the licorice creating that vibe in the EDP. To my nose, there is something so familiar about this fragrance. I do not get play dough- I don’t get that with the edt either- my nose picks up a sweet, deep, dark, powdery nutty jasmine! There is a slight toasted feeling to the overall scent. It’s truly intoxicating. It last hours on my skin and it has a beautiful trail that wafts up from my arm when I wear it. I purchased the version without the sexy CD ribbon and seal- (I cannot find that version anywhere) on Jomashop. It was a 3.4 oz Tester for $100!!!! before Valentine’s Day! It came with a cap and in a plain white box but no different than the retail version! So far, I haven’t met a Poison I haven’t fallen in love with!! I have Poison, Hypnotic EDT, HP EDP, Poison Girl EDT, EDP and Poison girl unexpected edt (which is a sexy ginger and hazelnut version of PG!) I’ve sampled Pure Poison and I will be purchasing a full bottle next and I’m thinking of picking up Hypnotic Poison Eau Secret!

This is a true gothic perfume to me: deep, mysterious and alluring. The bottle is as gorgeous as the juice itself. Unfortunately Dior decided to remove the leather tie, in order to make more gaudy ribbons for the ever expanding Miss Dior line. If you’re not a fan of licorice, then you’ll hate this, because it has a thick licorice note that stays untill the drydown. I’ve never smelled it on someone else before, so it doesn’t seem that popular (yay). This perfume has huge presence, it needs to fit your style and demeanour or else it will wear you (just like the OG Poison). HP edt, while beautiful in its own right, smells a little dull compared to this version. The edt is quite linear, the edp is more complex. Only appropriate for late fall and winter (or summer, if you want to use it as a true poison). HP edp has a melancholic quality, just like Bvlgari Jasmin Noir and Givenchy Ange ou Demon, it’s not a mood lifting scent, definately not a safe blind buy. People who find this “mature”, probably wear Lattafa Yara as their signature (no shade, just saying). This one is for witchy women ;)

This quick review is coming from a 24 year old male who's never smelled the original EDT. I LOVE this stuff! It's a burning, syrupy licorice, vanilla and almond with a dusty powdery vibe to it. I almost get cherry too, but it's not in the note listing. Quite linear on my skin. Performance is the perfect level of strong. You'll be noticed but in a good way. It's strong and clear for hours. This is my favorite kind of fragrance. Dark, thick, deep and sweet. My #1 fragrance is Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin and I get a very similar vibe with Dior HP EDP. If you told me that this was a Lolita Lempicka creation by Annick Menardo, I'd believe you without a doubt. In my opinion, completely unisex! There are much sweeter "feminine" smelling fragrances marketed towards men out there. Don't let the "for women" scare you, there's nothing dangerously feminine about this. And, I got my bottle for $20 at a thrift shop, new in the box. Can't believe this retails for $200. If you don't want to spend that much on this fragrance, I highly recommend looking at Lolita Lempicka for similar creations.

First you smell is licorice overdose. Bitter and suffocating. Honestly, not the best start (unless you like licorice). However, in 5 minutes, licorice is gone and you discover overwhelming, beautiful , high class perfume, that will only want you to make it to smell more and more... Tip: spray in the air and catch it with your bare wrists. It smells the best when evaporating from the skin. Keep in mind, that on clothes it keeps the licorice note forever and never develops to the next, heavenly stage. Tip 2: try not to breathe when first sprayed, as this is going to make you nose blind and you'll think there's no power to this perfume. I my opinion, there's zero resemblance to edt. This is completely different perfume with it's own character. Although hypnotic... And better!!! Sillage gives a powdery orange blossom vibes. However, when smelt your spayed skin, it's totally different smell. Salty, vanillic, somewhat well blended all ingredients, where I cannot detect specific notes. It's simply stunning and complement giver. It's a winter perfume.

This has been my signature for years. It has a distinct, strong opening in bitter licorice with the soft touch of an almost ghostly almond. Though an intense introduction, about 5 minutes in the jasmine manages to peek through. The licorice seems to braid into a light orange blossom, leaving jasmine completely in the spotlight. This first transition signs only the beginning of this olfactory experience, because the culminating point, though not as intense as the opening, will be when jasmine and vanilla conjoin into an alluring, seductive blend this scent is characterised by. The tonka beans are the dark foundation on which these two central ingredients will stand for the next five hours. Tonka beans and licorice are what embrace the gentle vanilla-jasmine blend into a darker, enigmatic aura. Almost like a soft and vulnerable spring flower peeking through a harsh winter. It is a classic. Beautiful and intense, and you must have a strong character to wear it, otherwise it will wear you.

Sweet, rich, boozy, sensuous, warm, and strangely clean. It reminds me of smelling the head of a person with freshly-washed hair, and smelling both the sweet shampoo and the clean scalp. I feel like this could have been inspired by a sweet liqueur such as amaretto, though I don't get the almonds strongly, mainly the vanilla and jasmine. Unlike a lot of sweet perfumes, it doesn't sit on top of the skin, but blends - dare I say, melts in. It's a very heady smell, and surrounds one thickly, like incense, certainly not light or fresh. If you don't adore the scent you may find the density of it bothersome. I adore it. Got the roll-on as a freebie and was dismayed to find out the cost RRP. I will be actively looking for a discounted bottle, not because it isn't worth the cost, but because it is definitely not a cheapie. Do not blind buy if you can't drink liqueurs without batting an eye at the intensity.

I got Hypnotic Poison eau de parfum thinking it would be better and more vanilla than the eau de toilette. It was overpowering licorice and not much vanilla. However, thanks to loving the bottle, it sat on my shelf for a year, untouched. I pulled out both the toilette and the parfum and sprayed one on each hand. The awful licorice is GONE and the scent is gorgeous! Still not as good as the eau de toilette overall, but lovely with nice depth. It is more powdery than the toilette, and sadly the scent doesn’t last, it’s a skin scent in 20 min with one spray. I think the lack of longevity may be due to the age, as I got it probably a year or more after it was discontinued, and it sat a year. If I had known it was going to turn into a lovely I would have snagged a second bottle. I don’t think it’s worth a huge premium bc it’s discontinued, but if it wasn’t too expensive it’s worth having.

This fragrances captivates me so much that it haunts me. I used to dislike it and now I crave it. Everytime I smell it in a store I want it more. Truly has the effect of a hypnotic poison on me. I will most likely own a full bottle soon. Update: of course I had to buy it the first chance I caught it being on it sale. Oh myyyyyy may I say I will smell so good this winter! this is so magnetic and seductive, sexy and sweet. The sweetness is toned down compared to the EDT. In contrast to what I read in other reviews I think they do smell alike. The almond and vanilla are definitely from the same DNA. The EDT is more gourmand, the EDP is more volumptous, more rich. The licorice doesn't bother me one bit. The longevity is good but the sillage is not as broad as I expected. I am totally enticed by the scent though. It's like it holds me captive, I don't want to wear anything else anymore.

Easily my favorite flanker of the whole poison line, and the best in my opinion. However, I do see why it’s not the most popular fragrance, it’s something polarizing and not everyone’s cup of tea. But it is my bottle of ambrosia for sure! It’s so different from EDT (edt smells like play-doh to me) I would hardly guess they are related. This was my first big girl signature scent in high school. I looked for something mature and sexy, something that would make 15 year old me feel like a dark enchantress. I found this and for years it was my favorite, until I went nose blind and left it at a corner untouched for a few years. In college I picked it up again and couldn’t understand why I ever left this. It’s dark, full of licorice, nothing sweet about it. It’s definitely not a blind buy. It’s the sexiest and most polarizing perfume in my collection.

This is one of the Sexiest edp's I have ever smelled. Its in my top 3 of all time fragrances. It is Sexy, Seductive and Sweet with the high end poison DNA I love. Its very Licorice forward on my skin on a base of jasmine-y almond and gorgeous thick vanilla similar to the vanilla in Kenzo Amour. The Orange Blossom in the background does not dominate as a note as it usually does, it instead enhances this luscious brew.and adds sweetness. There is a faint tuberose nuance that brings class and sensuality as well. The edt is nice as well but its very light and much more almondy, less femme fatale and more soft and cuddly. This is the one you want if you are looking to seduce. It screams Femme Fatale, Its also unisex for those in the forward feminine role. Stunning Monica Bellucci was the perfect campaign seductress for this fragrance.

i hate licorice candy but i LOVE Hypnotic Poison EDP “Le Vampire” (that’s what i call it ha ha). it’s the closest thing to a “gourmand” in my collection, the sweetest perfume i have that i actually like. there’s a brief cough-syrup/funk moment at the beginning, but even then, an alchemy is brewing between the licorice and the tonka bean and that mashup is giving delicious powdery incense. it’s sweet, yes, but not cloying, and it’s got that Shalimar-ish vanilla going for it, too. and the next morning, you get this lovely dark almond-vanilla musk. CANNOT STOP SNIFFING. basically, this version of Hypnotic Poison has the vibe i’d HOPED the current iteration of Poison would have. i’ll take it. 🩸 musical accompaniment: Elliot Goldenthal’s score of Neil Jordan’s Interview with the Vampire (1994) /edp from 2019 or so?

hypnotic poison has been my go-to scent since i was 16, and in many ways it’s the reason my whole perfume journey even began. at first, i didn’t fully love it because it felt very popular and i couldn’t see what made it so special. that curiosity pushed me to try other fragrances, and ironically, that’s when i started to truly adore hypnotic poison. coming back to it with a more developed nose made me realize how unique it actually is. it’s beautiful in its own way without being cloying or overwhelming. there’s something unexpectedly fresh underneath all the warmth, almost a minty, slightly menthol-like note that i really love and that makes it even more addictive to me. over time, it stopped being just a familiar scent and became something i genuinely appreciate for its character, not its reputation.

This is sensuality in a bottle. Lasts better on clothes than on skin. Absolutely mesmerising. It can be a bit confusing or even off putting the very first time you try it, DO NOT GIVE IN TO THAT FIRST IMPRESSION. Give it time. You’ll be so grateful you did. Most prominent notes according to my nose: Licorice Tonka Vanilla Jasmin I also get Incense which is not listed here. A few days after you spray it on clothes, you start getting a creamy coconut hint, reminiscent of the coconut in the EDT. I do not perceive orange blossom at all. 9.5/10 just because I wish it projected better, the longevity is GREAT, you will smell it for days on your clothes, but the projection is inexistant, people can only smell it if they lean in to hug you. If it had a good sillage, this perfume would be utter perfection.

Stunning! This is the mostly aptly named perfume. It's deep, it's bitter sweet and bloody glorious! The liquerice note is beautiful and quite natural smelling. The almond - a nod to cyanide - hence 'Poison'. The dry down softens into the most sensational, lingering almost smokey sandalwood/musk veil, staying warm and slightly fuzzy with the oh so slightly boozy/spicy vanilla & tonka note. The whole composition draws you in... It is absolutely hypnotic right enough. Creates an absolutely gorgeous scent bubble. Not cloying or synthetic but rather, permeates the wearers aura. Blends and develops with the skin sooooo well. Gives an air of mystery and intrigue. Lasts incredibly well - easy 8hrs. Sillage is perfect - not a choker but definitely present. A perfect 10/10 for me 👌

You have to love Licorice cuz its a licorice perfume. I happen to love licorice and anything licorice gets me compliments like mad including from complete strangers on the street. I hardly pick up on rhe flowers but thats ok I know its there. I realize that I can't do straight vanilla anything. Any vanilla heavy fragrance has to have some floral/spice otherwise it makes me nauseous. This is beautiful and lasts for 24 hrs. On initial spray it reminded me of Lolita Lempika but the 1997 one. That was the OG and the licorice/cherry/anise thing drove me and everyone around me insane. A few hours into wearing this it reminded me of Shalimar Parfum Initial. Which has no licorice but probably should have... Then the drydown is a dark dusty vanilla and I am not mad.

The reviews are bizarre.... Someone tried to be funny by saying this smells like a cats ass. To that person I’ll just say this: I truly don’t think your nose is distinguished enough to describe a fragrance made by a master perfumer as “cats ass”. Now please have several seats and refrain from writing pointless reviews. That being said: this perfume is the perfect whimsical, gothic potion. It truly embodies the Poison line. Licorice takes center stage, almost resembling sour cherries. Despite the thick vanilla and almond notes, it dries down to a beautiful, warm powdery base that lingers for weeks on wool coats and scarfs. It’s doesn’t suit most people, but on someone who pulls off the appropriate aesthetic and carries a certain aura, this can be magical.

Simply sublime. First of all, it’s important to note that this EDP has absolutely nothing to do with the EDT - they’re two entirely different creatures. And to truly enjoy it, you must love licorice. A few years ago, I probably wouldn’t have liked it at all. But now? It’s an absolute 'coup de cœur', a real crush. This Hypnotic Poison is a thick, intoxicating venom, built around licorice and vanilla. It has a dangerous aura, yet it’s irresistibly alluring, sensual, and undeniably sexy. Like a poisoned apple you know you shouldn’t bite into, and yet you can’t help yourself. Its name and bottle couldn’t suit it more perfectly. I think it’s my favorite Poison, there’s something dark, unfathomable, almost esoteric about it. I’m completely obsessed.

I remember the first time I tried this on, expecting just a version of the edt that lasts longer and it was a shock , I was like wtf did I just spray , and I loved it, it’s like a very dark version of the edt that’s punchier and more fun, The edt has the smell of vanilla cake this one, it’s very pleasant and safe, this still had a little bit of that but it’s much edgier, makes you want to wear a leather jacket. But as it dries down I’m surprised to also see it becomes very sensual and soft, I think that’s why it’s nice for evening wear, because as the night winds down it has just a very nice and relaxing smell I’m pretty selective on which perfumes I buy because I don’t want to have a 50 bottle collection but this definitely made it in

Every year I would put this away for the colder months and when that happens I think maybe this is too strong for me now and as soon as I spray it it’s all out the window Because it’s thi most beautiful scent ever created I have a couple of older bottles so I’m thinking I can wear this forever...... Something magical about this it’s truly a hypnotic potion Most people won’t like it and I can agree as if the weather is warmer it drives me crazy in a not so good way But it agrees with my skin chemistry so much that it has to be a part of my perfume collection This potion is probably the least synthetic out of them all It may still have some absolutes in it As for the edt I bought 3 bottles of the new formulation and sold them all

I am a die hard vanilla girl. My all time favourite perfume, to this day have never smelt anything like it (If anyone has any recommendations of similar fragrances I would appreciate 🥰 please check my profile for my top 3 fragrances to identify my scent profile before recommending) What it smells like to me is deep, dark, sugary vanilla. I don’t understand people’s comments about ‘play doh’ maybe that’s more the EDT? But the EDP is a gourmand sugar vanilla cake! 😋 You really don't need to layer this as the silage is great however I wish it lasted longer on the skin. Although I apply lotion and essential oils I don't seem to get more than 3-5 hours. On my clothes and hair however, this lasts ALL day.

This may seem strange, but for me Hypnotic Poison EDP is the lighter and more daytime friendly version compared to the denser and thicker EDT. I think that it is the licorice note that brightens it up, breaking the sweet and compact almond-vanilla base. Jasmine and orange blossom also shines through, balancing up the sticky scent of play doh. On me the EDT and the EDP are very similar in the dry down, the sandalwood and tonka bean have the same mulled dryness on skin. The EDP does however not project or last as long as the EDT, but I love them both and I am happy to be able to wear them on different occasions and in different seasons.

The older bottle with the CD tag is just more dirtier and bitter smells sort of like burned flowers and orange liqueur it lasts a little longer then the current formula But it’s more or less the same still as potent and hypnotic I have 6 bottles of the new and old from different batch codes so yea it’s still divine much better then edt current formula Edit: I bought a 2022 bottle just a couple of days ago and it isn’t as strong smells like chocolate and flowers Edit: I bought a 2023 bottle as well it has changed a lot Smells different It’s still intoxicating no cherry liquorice More orange blossom and tonka bean Dry down HP edt

Unapologetic, raw, primal feminine power. She's an untamed, chaotic fire blazing through all performative, structural and social conventions. But she's beautiful, elegant and magnificent. I love this - this is the Mahadevi (Goddess) Bhairavi. She is the most ferocious expression of Devi . "Bhairavi's essence is that RADIANT DANGER that transforms you. As the Shiva Sutras declare, "O radiant one!" - Bhairavi is the Master who not only achieves enlightenment but radiates it fearlessly. The "danger" you feel is actually the death of your limited identity!" Paramahamsa Nithyananda. And this perfume makes my husband uncomfortable.

At first, this perfume is tangy in a peculiar, alcoholic drink-like way. But very quickly, a beautiful and soft sweetness emerges. The fragrance swiftly evolves into a warm, serene, and rich scent. The perfume evokes a sense of being in a safe environment where nothing is worth stressing over. For me, the divine aspect of this scent is not the notes themselves, but the feeling the fragrance imparts. When wearing this scent, I can sense that my aura reflects the feeling it gives me. It is unique in every way and yet not complex at all. A truly excellent fragrance for the mature woman.

I wanted to add to my review: when purchasing this, many resellers on the grey market are using the image for the EDP with the ribbon and CD seal (sold in a dark red box with an aura around the name)but they’re actually selling the one without (sold in a red box without an aura around the name) - which you can often find cheaper on the discount websites. If you see only a stock photo, ask for an image of actual bottle. However, the version without the CD tag is a beast in terms of longevity and sillage but it’s the only version I’ve smelled. I got a bit concerned when people mentioned that this was discontinued. However, it is still prominently featured on Dior's website and available, and in stock, everywhere. I prefer this to the EDT. The EDT is very powdery, soft, and more gourmand in feel, whereas I prefer the darker, clearer tone of this scent. I think the opaque v. translucent bottles transfers well to the vibe of the scents themselves. I'm also a big licorice fan, which helps! They are both great scents but they have a flanker relationship, rather than just being a different concentration.

This is a BEAST of a perfume and a classic for a reason. When I moved into my dorm the girl before me had this as her signature sent. She was the coolest person i have ever meet like im talking bassist in a successful band, weirdly smart, 90s model no makeup gorgeous, amazing style, wearing cowboy boots well before it was cool (you get the idea). I think that description sums up this sent; a head turner while staying a crowd pleaser. After I moved in it took months for this sent to disappear, so when people say its long lasting, they are not exaggerating.

Sometimes EDP means stronger EDT but this is a sister scent to the OG Hypnotic Poison (which I also own and love). It starts of thick and syrupy with a blast of liquorice. The vanilla becomes powdery as it dries down and the flowers add depth but are hard to detect. I find the EDT warm, fuzzy comforting . HP EDP is sexy and bold. It demands attention and makes me feel confident. Very long lasting and moderate sillage - I wonder if it was reformulated when they removed the black tag. I’ve had both bottles and it’s seems softer now. It’s lovely!

From the moment I got this perfume as a present years ago, it became for me as a must have for all seasons and occasions. Not suitable in office as it might be heavy for some. It's sweet, gothic and elegant, sensual, dark vanilla, never boring. Hope they will never discontinue HP. Sweet juicy velvety scent, great for cold days. It last the entire day on me. I think it's better than the EDT, which has a more playdough vibe, this one is more plum and almond like. The playdough vibe of the EDT feels velvety in this one. If I were to buy it again, I'd get the 50ml instead of 100ml because I don't wear it that often due to being a bit too sweet and overpowering for daily wear in my opinion. It's more like the type of fragrance I would wear once in a while.

This EDP version is my favorite one, as it's deeper and sweeter than the EDT. In fact, it was my signature scent for many years in my late teens 16-20y. I love it because it's a strong, long-lasting and sweet vanilla fragrance. I used to wore this all-year around, during day and night, but it does particularly bloom during colder months. I understand that it can be too much for some people, but if you like beast mode fragrances, go for this one, you will not be disappointed.

This little dark, sensual, gothic potion has made me appreciate a licorice note in fragrances. So much so that it's my current signature. This reminds me of the Aniz Escarchado liqueur from Madeira (Portugal) but a more twisted, darker, spicier, syrupier version of it. It performs better on my skin in colder weather and at night. It's not for everyone but sometimes I wear fragrance to peeve others around me off while I get a confidence boost for the day.

The only way you can go wrong when choosing Hypnotic Poison edp is if you’re not well dressed and made up. This perfume, about which everything has already been said, demands special treatment and respect. It is the fragrance of the seductress, of the woman who respects herself and knows exactly how things are done. Even a woman who isn’t the greatest beauty will shine when she wears it. If the Italians invented beauty, then Dior invented seduction.

Tested this at the department store and it smells amazing. It smells like black liquorice which for me is good because I enjoy black liquorice. It smells cosy, rich and sweet and would be perfect during the winter.I actually tested this alongside the EDT and to my surprise I could barely smell the EDT both in the air and on my wrist even after I had left the store. I think it's been watered down to some extent. The EDP is much stronger.

This is the perfume the 3 sisters in Resident Evil 8 Village would wear. Or the 3 vampire wives in Dracula. Absolutely stunning sweet, dark and sexy. edit: haha so funny the review below saying same thing I posted this on the other Hypnotic Poison page, thinking it is the EDP, turns out it is EDT so I moved my comment here as EDP and EDT are very different, EDT is softer and more cozy, I don't get much danger from it. EDP however....

My signature scent; I didn't like it much when I sprayed it into the air, but it blends so beautifully with my skin that all my friends say it suits me well. They say that whenever they smell it, it brings me to mind. It clings to my clothes so much that it doesn't come off until I wash them. It has perfect sillage. Some people call it an old woman's perfume, but I think it's a scent suitable for all mentally mature women.

I used to wear this back in college and loved it because it was so sweet, creamy and warm. I remember getting a lot of compliments on it. Later, I was gifted the regular Hypnotic Poison EDT to replace it but I never liked it very much as I find it too strong and at times cloying. The EDP felt much more balanced and toned down on me, darker and warmer. Haven't seen it or smelled it in a while, I wonder if I still enjoy it.

i thought i had the edt for a while then i looked at the bottle again and smacked myself. i got this one in paris because i noticed all perfumes produced in paris are just better tbh. i think this one smells sweeter on me like vanilla and jasmine with a touch of licorice so i can get by with wearing it at school. this one's also a huge compliment getter so when i walk in a room people often ask "what smells so good???"

This is so polarizing or it just gets better after brewing for 5 years. I hated it when I got it and couldn't see the similarities between this and the EDT, and now that my bottle is finished, I'm totally in love because this is what hypnotic poison EDP should be. It's like exploding hypnotic poison all over again! It has much more sillage and lasting power, but not as much as it did when it was fresh.

my all time favorite perfume!! mostly wear this in fall/winter, but sometimes i crave this year round. it’s soo like.... thick! warm and spicy, but sweet, perfect combo of those three, and it sits so well on my skin over time! the licorice is quite strong at first, but tones down and settles nicely as the vanilla and almond make themselves more known. i like that it’s a bit powdery! 10/10 for sure🌟

Love Love Love this perfume.(2018 batch) It's so sensual, intoxicating, sexy perfume. One spray LAST ALL DAY on skin! I could wear this all seasons, just summer 1-2 sprays. Much much better than Poison Girl (weak lasting power on me). And the Poison DNA in Hypnotic is just right and rich. I've also tried the new EDT version. P.S. Hope Dior could re-launch Midnight Poison!!

Oh, this one intrigued me. it's deep, mysterious, layered.. just when you think you understood, you realize that you barely scratched the surface. i am not into scent profiles like this usually as i find them overwhelming. but this perfume is just compelling, almost challenges you somehow if you dare, like it's a loss not to be able to wear it. i cannot not wear this one!
