La Collection Couturier Parfumeur Leather Oud

What else is to say about this infamous perfume? I am certain all fragheads have heard of Leather Oud, notorious since its introduction as part of the original "La Collection Couturier" by Maison Christian Dior back in 2010. Since then, it has been reformulated twice and later axed by an unrecognizable Dior, today with a new creative director in charge. I strongly feel this was Demachy’s finest achievement, since Eau Noire was credited to Kurkdijan, while many of the other greats in the Privee line signed by Demachy were amazing but lacked originality (Cuir Cannage, Oud Ispahan, Mitzah, Patchouli Imperial). When Leather Oud came out, it was something novel. Not only for Dior as a house with deep roots and strong French heritage, but for the fragrance scene at that time, especially in the designer realm. And Demachy did a great job. He went full Oriental and challenging, the opposite of what Dior is advertising nowadays. Regarding the “challenging aspect,” I will say, however, that I never felt Leather Oud to be an outrageous perfume as the community made it out to be. But let’s be honest, the average hobbyist also finds Musc Ravageur, MKK, and the likes to be “skanky.” Sure, there is some stank to be found, yet cleverly balanced by a myriad of other aspects. Therefore, depending on how deep you went down the rabbit hole, this might or might not be challenging to you. For me, it is not. Yes, there is a perceivable civet note that does steer towards unclean territory, and the beeswax accord can trigger further animalistic sensations. But apart from that, there is nothing “unsafe” about it; spices, leather, smoked wood chips, and resins. I think Demachy wanted to create a “new leather” perfume by choosing agarwood as the source of his inspiration. To quote him: “Oud wood exudes aromas of Leather when it is burned. It is an astonishing, very animal-like scent... Oud inspired me to make it the focus of an intense, woody Leather fragrance. A very masculine fragrance bursting with character.” That is a good way to describe Leather Oud. It is mostly a leather perfume. It also smells manly, more like “man juice.” I could not picture a woman wearing this. I simply cannot. When I smell it, a few things come to mind: A biker, or a cowboy, after riding all day, his leather jacket reeking of a combination of sweat and cigar stench. Or, perhaps one of those biker or truck driver pubs. Shabby place, smell of testosterone, topped ashtrays, and unkept toilets. I will also say that overall, this is a very good, quite surprisingly good, “Oud” perfume. Of course, there is not a drop of real oud in it, but the way it is built through various accords, it creates a very accurate rendition of how burning wood might smell, and even some oud oils. It gives off an accurate leather and burnt wood smell. The smoky and woody aspects are prominent, next to the leather, spices, and the sweetness of the beeswax and resins. I have tried a few oud oils that approximate what Leather Oud tries to convey. However, being a perfume, that experience is not as heavy and thick. Therefore, thumbs up to Demachy for doing his homework. Leather Oud opens spicy, sweet, and warm - heaps of cardamom in the opening paired with the sugary quality of the beeswax. Gradually, the leather creeps in next to the charred wood, transitioning into smoky territory (think burnt-wood smoke accord). In the base, the civet appears, and paired with beeswax, it creates a buttery, creamy impression. The labdanum further emphasizes the smoky and leathery facets. It is a very dynamic and complex perfume. In the air, it smells like sweet incense, sweaty leather, and wood. I always thought that it smells incredibly sexy. Regarding the various reformulations, the first, minor one that happened in 2013 was negligible. After 2017, it had lost most of its charm, turning into a rather bland, dry, and smoky woody-leather scent. I am not surprised it got axed, but rather that it stayed around for so long. Gone but not forgotten. Indeed, an amazing perfume, ahead of its time, and still relevant today. I used to own two more flacons that I sold down the road, thinking that it can’t be that difficult to find a replacement, especially nowadays when the market overflows with this DNA. However, it became clear to me that there was nothing to replace it, so I made sure to mend my mistake. Surely, I will not part with it again. IG:@memory.of.scents

A very difficult one to review. If this were a person I would say it is not an easy one to "fathom". First minutes: a strong mix of cardamom and something rubbery shows mastery and presence. I must confess every time I put this on to analyze, it changes some aromas so I get confused again and then don't know what to say about this first part. Most times I find this 90% similar to Oud by Kurkdjian in its first stage... but don't get me wrong: this takes a totally different path after that. The sillage is strong the first minutes. No leather, no civet yet. I was very worried for blindbuying since civet is one of the few notes I seldom like. I thought this would be a western rendition of arabic traditions but it reminds me of India all the time... I can’t figure out why. The mix leans on sweet but beeswax like... very elegant and unique. After this, civet and what I suppose is leather start appearing more and more. This civet is classy and well done... not obnoxious at all. Oud is there too, very strong but you know... in such a mix it’s a bit of a miss... I don't find this so but most of the people I've asked have mentioned it smells very macho like, as if I put a cream of testosterone on my skin... very sexual, raw and merciless. In my case I find it somehow weird, like something on the edge between exquisite and putrid, between gentlemanly and worringly gourmand. The leather is not of the new shoes kind but that of a living (or just killed!) animal. Very realistic... not truly my cup of tea though. I can admire the mastery behind this but not a single time I’ve said: wow, nice! The last stage is the clearest to my mind and I can describe it as a well behaved Kouros... a mix of soapy civet that smells a bit old school but modern at the same time... it manages to be classy without sending you back to 1985. Something sweet lingers and lingers. This lasts till next day. All in all, leather oud is a complex scent I don't recommend to blindbuy as I did. Edit: It is funny how silly I felt when I went to the Dior page and I read this was mainly about the oud and cardamom! I thought they were making fun of my intellect... but after 2 months of wearing this my opinion has slightly changed. I still think all of the above BUT I must add that Leather oud smells throughout the whole development like that cardamom dessert they make in India. It’s the closest smell I relate this to and again: think twice before getting this since it is very well blended but could well become a nightmare if you don’t feel at ease in front of exotic animalic scents. Chances you will like this are high in case you love Kouros, Al Oudh, Phillipine houseboy (a.k.a. Fils de dieu, du riz et des agrumes) and alike.

"Beauty and the Beast" First spray is the scream of civet, cedar, and leather. For first 10 minutes, civet scent project like crazy, but it get softer later on. Oud comes out in the dried down notes. Longevity, scent, sillage, uniqueness; all are excellent 10/10 Most of people complaining about civet scent, but I don't have any complain about it. It is an animalic scent, a scent that come from animal, sexy, beautiful. An smell that today's men have missed. I have to add that civet scent tone become very less and you cannot distinguish it from leather and oud after 1 hour, except you put your nose on your skin and sniff it. imagine, you go to a jungle, find a deer and close to it. touch it, close your nose and smell it. Smell of animal. Alive one. A heart is biting beneath this skin and flesh. The deer is clean, no smell of shit or urine. I have to add that civet has more aromatic scent. More interesting and more unique. The leather is not a wallet-belt type leather. It's the combination of alive skin animal scent (because of civet probably), the skin in leather processing and the processed leather you can smell in wallet. Thanks civet to bring my nose this range of leather scents. Can I tolerate civet smell? I LOVE it, if it combines with other scents correctly. It's an amazing combination here. Beauty and the beast. Beauty of leather and oud, and a beast scent beneath it. it's really Delicious If you think that civet is extra here, you can spray it in your hair. You won't get the civet scent on your hair. I found it somehow boring without civet ..... If you like cedar, try it. if you like oud, try it. If you like animals, try it. If you like leather, try it. If you like floral and fresh scent, it's not for you. If you like soapy scents, it's not for you. If you like Versace Eros or 1 million, it's not for you. If you are hipster, there is no way you like it. I am 24 now and I love this fragrance, but I think this fragrance fits better with more mature men. 30+ Do females like it? I don't know and I don't care. I don't like many of their fragrance and they don't care :D (I think they like it) Many people who complain about it, probably haven't wear it . They ran with the first tester spray. The first 10 minutes is harsh (and delicious in my test), but it develop on skin fast an become a nice scent. Wearable for everywhere. If you want a clean version of Leather Oud, go for Oud Ispahan. That one is also excellent fragrance. Beauty without the beast. Beauty with the rose in her hand.

Rolling greys cover the dying, brown earth. Countless days of wandering in this vast barren world has brought you to the end of your days...no water, no food, no companion. Covered in the burning ash of oud and wrapped tightly in a constricting animalic leather cloak, you stare aimlessly into the depths of the dark sky. The whole world is a wasteland, the smoke and flames of burnt cedar and birch coat your lungs and the only foliage is the deep brown of dead patchouli to mark every doomed step in a hollow crunch. A few more shallow breaths before the dark comes. You stir at the sound of footsteps approaching - it is the silhouette of a woman, pale and golden against the black of night. She reaches toward you and offers some water to sate your ashen mouth - she leans close enough that you can smell the warm, fleshy resins, sandalwood, honey, and amber of her quietly glistening skin. She gently touches your face and tells you that everything will be alright. You close your eyes tightly and pray that she speaks the truth - you fall asleep under her tender care. When you wake again, you find you are strong enough to carry onward, but your savior is nowhere to be found...you shed a lonely tear - it turns to dust as it touches the ground...of course such beauty was a dream, this is an endless wasteland after all... Day 72 - Only in our dreams Listening to: Flume - Take a Chance (feat. Little Dragon) Notes: I have to agree that this is an aggressively masculine scent - maybe appropriate for a dungeon master...it's that intense! There is a lot in here to turn people off - right off the bat this fume pummel you with an unrelenting civet and oud note with a dusting of animalic cloves and cardamom. It is a little hard to put nose to flesh to really get in it - I honestly didn't like it my first two wears. Over the course of its 12 to 14 hour life, LO slowly transitions from the potent spiced leather and oud with the slightest touch of cedar and vetiver to a gradually warmer, smoky labdanum and honey (comb) with a dry warmth coming from a sandalwood and amyris. It smells like a fantastic rendition of Oud Ispahan without the rose - 100% woods, spices, and resins! I can say that I do enjoy this quite a bit and it is unique in what it does and how it does it - definitely not for the faint of heart!

The good, the bad, and the ugly about Leather Oud (and note that some claim there was a significant reformulation, but if that is the case I have the "vintage"' formulation) : The good is that there is no deception here; you get woods, a hint of smokiness, leather, animalic elements, and a bit of what I think of as oud. It lasts very well though projection seems more good than monstrous (one spray to the chest).. The bad is that it feels like it's incomplete, which is okay for me because I think this would be great for layering purposes. Also, it doesn't have quite the depth of the vintage greats, though I wasn't expecting that to be the case. And of course the price is going to be a "dealbreaker" for a lot of people. The ugly is that this is a "dirty" scent, so consider the social circumstances before spraying it on. If you think Kouros (vintage) smells "clean," then you might perceive this the same way, for all I know. I think you could create a similar effect, actually, by layering Kouros and Alyssa Ashley's Oud Pour Lui. It won't smell exactly the same,but you will certainly be in the same neighborhood. Also, it's rather linear, which some people like and others don't. Overall, the "clean" type musk used here may be a way to "modernize" this Kouros/Yatagan/etc. type scent, and while I like the smell, I'm not sure if it offers enough contrast for my tastes, so next time I intend to use it in a "layering experiment." UPDATE: Second regular wearing. I actually like it more now, as I'm getting a bit of something ambery that softens this up and make it more balanced. Since the first wearing, I obtained a bottle of One Man Show Oud Edition, which is similar, but in the drydown some "cheap" aroma chemicals show up, which ruins it for me (especially since I can wear Leather Oud instead). If you are on a budget and don't mind a bit of iso e super, you can try OMSOE. LO is one of the few niche scents that I would not consider selling or swapping, due to the unique combination of "heavy" notes being blended so smoothly.

I love this fragrance but had a funny experience with it today. I'm getting over a stomach virus that's been causing fatigue, nausea and other digestive symptoms which I won't go into here. I applied Leather Oud just below my ears and on my neck. It started to make me nauseous almost immediately. Quite badly nauseous, but fortunately everything stayed put. I tried covering it with another scent (Arabian Nights by Jesus del Pozo) but unfortunately the Leather Oud was more powerful and kept peeking through from underneath. I sprayed Arabian Nights over the Leather Oud I don't know how many times over the course of the day, but wasn't able to get rid of the Leather Oud undertones that were making me nauseous. Takeaways: 1. Don't use Leather Oud if you're feeling the slightest bit queasy, because it will make it about 100 times worse. Not ten times, but 100 times. It's worth noting that I wasn't feeling nauseous at all before applying the Leather Oud, although I had been feeling that way on and off for the past week. So it was able to trigger nausea even when I'd been feeling fine that morning. 2. Longevity and sillage are impressive! Even when covered by multiple (and I mean MULTIPLE) sprays of another fragrance. I've never come across a fragrance that absolutely refuses to be covered by another one. Leather Oud insists on being heard and will not be shouted down by anyone else. The Arabian Nights would dominate for a few minutes, but then the Leather Oud would come back as if it had never been gone. 3. Arabian Nights by Jesus del Pozo is a great scent for what it is (synthetically rosy, oudy & woody), but it lacks the power to cover a more determined scent like Leather Oud.

Woah! Woah! I'd anticipated my meeting with Leather Oud with much trepidation not just after looking at the notes but seeing a few negative comments in the forum. I like Oud (genuinely, I know what it's smells like!) Leather, in principle is great and a favourite note but can be and often is... done badly. It's the animalistic element and beeswax to this that worried me. It just seemed to compound the other acquired tastes into a hellish mixture that could easily be awful...I was thinking Montale's cuir d'Arabie but with animal stink thrown in for good measure. Just for the record I like the bravery of the Montale it represents a different kind of leather and the dry down is fantastic it's just the opening and first couple of hours that are almost unbearably horrible! Anyway...To my surprise this fragrance is really good. It's inkeeping with the trend of this Dior range, notably being really well blended indeed. The Oud is great and not stifled or distorted by the leather the animal quality is actually really good in the context of this fragrance. The longevity is massive and the animal quality is manageable in the dry down. As one reviewer has mentioned it smells like sex...and that's a good description. Insanely raw and primal yet somehow finessed at the same time this is not for the faint of heart in terms of wearing it... I'm still not sure whether I would myself as I prefer something with spices. This perfume is bold and makes a real statement don't have any preconceptions or write this off without trying because like me, you might be pleasantly surprised.

When I read opinions about perfumes from the Haute Perfumery as it is called, some times I create an expectation that ends up turning into frustration. That’s because (in my opinion) some fragrances don’t deserve this title, for their poor presentation, the bad quality of their materials, the lack of innovation, etc. This one is, definitely, an example of high quality fragrance that belongs to an exclusive line. It has exactly the aroma that I expect to find in a high quality fragrance made with notes of leather and oud. Is it innovative? Not so much, because it has the DNA I have already felt in some Montale fragrances. But is has a glamorous oud, not medicinal, well applied inside an olfactory pyramid that seems to me a truly clash of titans: labdanum, birch, sandalwood, amber, cloves, beeswax, civetta, leather, cardamom, etc. It is rich, dry, raspy and has a good incense tone right in the beginning. Then, it surrenders to the creamy tones, resulting from the amber and the beeswax. On the other hand, it doesn’t lose its strength. On the contrary, it gets richer with spices, and the clove together with the cardamom, command the heart of the fragrance. In the end, the astonishing fusion of oud + civetta + leather raises the fragrance to the level of tradition, luxurious, power and refinement. If you have money to buy a bottle of this juice and want to be noticed, don’t think twice! The secret of the Pharaohs, the opulence of the Maharajas and the magnitude of the monarchs were bottled by Dior. Beautiful work!

Leather, oud and musk. That would have been a better name for this fragrance. A very strong fragrance, very classy made with the best quality ingrédient that can be found. Something that can easily made compétition to the top niche fragrance of the same price. I get lot of civetta, leather, oud and a little bit of spices and sandal wood. The strongest animal smell i have experienced so far, the civetta is very strong and it give a musk like scent over the leather and oud. The smell is very natural, i can imagine been in the same room that this animal sometime when i close my eyes and smell at this frag. Longevity and projection are exceptionnal here, no need to reapply over the day, will last from sunrise to sunset. The last hour of the dry down is very similar to dior homme parfum, mayble the use the same leather and sandal wood? A true pièce of art by François Demachy, expensible, but worth the money if u can find it. Not safe for blind buy, the animal note can be bad for some people. Let s go with the raw animalic score: Smell: 9/10, animalic oud fragrance. Longevity: 5/5, more than 14 hours on me, seem to last forever on clothes. Projection: 4,5/5, one of the most powerful projection i have found so far. Versatility: 2,5/5, for special occasion and cold time only. Way too powerfull to be used in any hot time, at work or most daily uses. Overall : 21/25, something to try for sure if u like oud, leather and animalic scent. A masterpiece for sure from Dior.

I own a bottle of Leather Oud produced back in 2014. One of the most daring, provocative, offensive and eventually challenging perfumes I’ve ever come across in a long, long way. Just to warn you: this is not for the faint hearted people. It opens up with quite unpleasant mix of urine, body odour and definitely something else I am not sure of. Excrement? Maybe. Fecal oud? Possibly. This is tough and if you manage not to wash it off/scrub it off your skin within that time it starts to develop. Leather appears. It is quite and kinda’ animalic, but the most familiar thing it reminds me of is the leather that the finest Italian shoes are made of. Beautiful. Actually I can’t smell much more out of it. It projects like crazy so I recommend pouring some into smaller decanters and apply from them - 3-4 sprays from a decanter are good for me. The longevity is over 11 hours on my skin. Now the similarities. It is a predecessor of Rance L’Aigle de la Victoire (although it’s a totally different brand - they are alike to me), however that one is even more skanky. Another one that reminds me of Leather Oud is Montale Aoud Cuir d’Arabie - this one however is more oriental than Dior’s and definitely more focused on oud and on oriental to the fullest. I love it. I’d buy a 250 ml bottle, but only if I were sure the new formulation is on the same niche quality (I don’t care about the parameters). I have to buy the 40 ml bottle of new version - blind - just to check that.

I can add nothing new or insightful other than to say this fragrance is for manly-men and I love it. Boys, don't even dare put your mitts on this beast juice...just stick to your fresh & fruity mall scents, because this one is designed for men named James Steel, Snake Pliskin, Ted Fisticuffs and Kouros (Killer) Kowalski...and not Jody or Pat. I get a strong, dirty, animalic vibe--with a flavorful but not overpowering oud--along with a dirty-leather that is expertly well-blended with a bunch of other masculine goodness. The end result is an outstanding fragrance that others have described in great detail. I detect no civet, barnyard or beeswax smells that had me a bit nervous about this one. Okay, I admit the ladies are not big fans of Leather Oud the first hour or so (I love it but it can be a bit harsh) but they are fine with it when it sweetens-up and the oud and leather become more prominent. Needless to say, Leather Oud lasts 20+ hours on my skin (with or without shower) and will fill a small warehouse if you apply it as though it were a normal fragrance. One or two sprays tops! In fact, I would start with one-half spray on each side under the shirt just to be safe. Overall, a Classic fragrance that packs one hell of a punch. As much as I love this fragrance, it is not a blind-buy so try before you purchase.

Good grief! Why is this so nice? Wearing it feels like running naked through the streets - thrillingly risky and exciting. I like it but I don't understand why. It actually does smell like poop. But it's so gooooood. It's beyond almost everything I've tried - apart from Fredric Malle's Oudh (!!), and the first time I inadvertently bought a sample of Roja Dove's Fetish, having only worn aquatics for years. They both scared the heck out of me! After the dirty end of civet and the farmyard funk of oud, it does eventually soften and become less scary and actually smooth, suculent and sexy. But it's more of a raunchy 'glint in the eye' sexy rather than 'shiny-white-teeth / cheesy' sexy. What a journey though. I imagine the first time is the best, never to be repeated. It simply knocked my head off (figuratively). I love the drydown but the rollercoaster of the opening is so worth it. My nose has been stuck to the back of my hand for nearly an hour. Incredible. A truly wonderful example of the pyramidal structure of perfume. I'm not sure I would wear this in public though. And I know my wife would detest it. This one still have to be just for me. Which is a real shame. Maybe I'll have to work out at reason for it...

First I'll say that the comments are absolutely hilarious, especially the ones about manly men and attracting angry animals 😂. I was lucky enough to be gifted a ounce of this one in a beautiful steam punk, solid metal perfume bottle from a generous friend. I've been testing for the last two days. I work from home, so I didn't feel self conscious. Wow, this is an experience to behold. This is transports me into a wealthy middle eastern royal family wearing expensive clothing, inspecting Arabian horses in my stable. It's a beautiful and highly challenging formula that puts me in a lucid dream and won't let me out. The leather is top notch, oud is powerful, and the animalic notes are very potent. This requires some planning to wear in the United States unless you just don't give a damn about others. The whole thing smells expensive and offensive at the same time. It has an air of wealth, history, and heritage. It projects like crazy and will last through a shower. I won't give it a perfect score because it's challenging and usability is severely hampered. And I can't fathom wearing this in the heat, but I do love it. Mesmerizing and thought provoking. Lawrence of Arabia in a bottle. Scent 9.3/10 Perform 10/10

A beast in beast's clothing. Impossible to underscore enough how much I love and admire this scent. Worth every penny in terms of uniqueness, longevity, and sillage. Like many other people who love fragrance, I miss many of the now discontinued or butchered masculines - that brute but intimate attitude they had. Feminines too, if I'm honest. Who today, for instance, would put cumin in Rochas Femme? Who would view preserving the underside of that fragrance through various reformulations as a priority? It seems very hopeful to me that a fragrance as forceful and animal as this can be released today - not because I think it will start any trends, but because I know it's still possible. Leather Oud revisits the animal instincts of yesteryear's mainstays, finding new directions and techniques there to replace and revise materials and attitudes which have been restricted or gone out of fashion. It isn't just the oud, though that helps here. The mix is a witch's brew of carnal possibility. There's really nothing like it.

Oh my. I just received this in the mail today. Blind buy, and I was wanting this for quite a while. Totally worth it. The opening is maybe the most fecal/challenging I've ever experienced from a fragrance before, and it's awesome. If you're a fan of Absolue Pour le Soir, Kouros, Salome, etc. - then check this one out! The dry down also... think of that dry down smell of Kouros and Absolue Pour le Soir - you know what I mean? That sweet (honeyed?) musky smell? Now, add some dirtiness to that. If you're into animalics, totally check this one out! Recommended! Update 2021 (past-due!): Have original formulation as well. It does appear different to me - still obviously recognizable and the 'same', but different. One of the main things is I seem to get more leather in this one (2011). My 2016 is smooth as butter, warm, inviting - it's melded together nicely. This 2011 seems to have a more stand out leather, and... honey or something. Perhaps a bit more rough around the edges, at least in the opening.

Nice but tame, needs to be turned up a few notches. It's missing something in the background that BTVM has. BTVM obliterates this. Why did they not go balls to the wall on this tiny pretty bottle? Do I love it? Yes but I simply want more and stronger. Is it skanky? To me not at all, I would not use the word 'skank' for this, then again skanky is a personal perception, ever smelled a tonsil stone? Was it skanky or down right putrid? Leather Oud is good yes and the bottle I have is neat, so tiny, I just wish what was inside it was one dab and your done. 25 years ago I had some sort of sweet myrh oil in a glass vial, it was the same size as this bottle and the oil was super thick like honey,,if you swiped that myrh oil on fabric you will smell it for weeks, just one dab, on skin felt like an eternity. That can be good and bad I guess, I love this smell, it's smooth,just want it to be stronger, then it might be perfect.

At first I thought this is an unwearable freak, a pungent smell of male toilette, boy how was I wrong.... This is (I can't believe I'm saying it) quite a gentle fragrance when applied apptly. Starts off quite acidic and then the journey begins.... Leather. Not really rough&tumble as I would expect from such a fragrance. For a change, it's like a well made, really refined italian shoe made of very high quality leather. Sophisticated. Daring - oh yes, for sure! Quite provocative, maybe defiant even. Fits very well to tuxedo, suit and tie and for any other occasions when you're elegant. It's not an everyday scent. It's not a scent for an intimate occasion (at least not for me :D ) Last but not least it's not a scent for a date. 24 hours longevity, huge sillage. Bravo Monsieur Demachy, I wish your recent mainstream fragrances smelled like Leather Oud...

As soon as I had applied the fragrance I was instantly reminded of Wonderwood and L'air du Desert Marocain. Sweet warm spices and wood. The woods sit on top of a refined but dusty leather and a hint of civet. On the dry down the leather and wood have equal prominence. The civet remains very light but serves to accent the leather. The combination conjures images of sweet pipe tobacco being smoked in a room with aging wooden floorboards and furniture of wood and leather. A beautiful fragrance. Nice to see that someone has bothered to put so much thought and expertise into a men's fragrance. With further productions of this quality perhaps my days of cynicism will be over. -- A further development leads the scent to reveal a prominent note of clove. At this point it becomes, to my mind, a smokier Je suis un Homme.

This is a fantastic fragrance for a manly man who is sick of all the pretty flowery unisex scents.lol This opens with a smooth smoky saddle leather with tobacco. It reminds me of the scent from imperial leather soap but intensified and with a symphony of notes. As time goes by the civet kicks in and gives the scent a dark muskyness within the smoky woody smooth saddle leather. This sweetens with honey to make the whole composition smell just great. Now their are no jagged edges within this scent accord as everything is blended to perfection. The oud in this smells like smoky burning wood and the leather is more of a light supple saddle leather. Mixed together with the honey and civet gives you a smoky leathery dark sweet musky scent. A great fragrance from Dior and one that has really impressed me. Wonderful!

Wow. Seriously. As a big fan of MKK I was very keen to try this and I now have a 10ml sample of this weapons grade juice. Without doubt the most powerful fragrance I have ever tried. I think I am anosmic to civet and cautious that those around me can smell it loud and clear but this scent is amazing. A heavy smoked oud and leather combo that stays forever. On my nights off I have sat quietly at home and enjoyed a cloud of rich and heavy masculinity surrounding me. I tried to spray lightly to wear to work the other day for fear of scaring my co-workers away. A couple of the ladies could smell it at distance but were not turned off by the scent. I can't believe this is a Dior and I would happily buy a full bottle once the sample is gone, even thought the price is high, one spray lasts the day.
