Miss Dior Original Extrait de Parfum

My bottle of Miss Dior Original Extrait from December 2011 is excellent and I am curious whether this 2014 version is as good or better.

For Dior I expected something else...Way to synthetic and a cheap smell.

no. these weren't the ingredients of the 'original Miss Dior' 1947 perfume. in the labyrinth of flankerism, dilutions, dupisms and marketcentered 'eaus of eaus' thèn you still had the 'old lady perfumes' which shocked the hell out of you. the original ingredients were: Aldehydes (just like Chanel No 5 but we're already 25 years on from that 'chemical assault') , Galbanum, Clary Sage, Gardenia and Bergamot. 'middle notes' were Narcissus, Iris, Carnation, Orris-root, Lily-of-the-Valley, Jasmine, Rose and Neroli. Basenotes were Oakmoss (tons of it), Leather, Vetiver, Patchouli, Labdanum, Sandelwood and Amber. perfumers were Jean Charles and Paul Vacher. Christian Dior was a LEO so he wouldn't settle for any 'Heidi-on-the-Mountain' perfume. I have smelled this original Miss Dior in parfum (1974) and 'esprit de parfum' (in the 1980s) and it was such a heavenly and yes, Boudoiresque perfume. the Gardenia wasn't gentrified. once I had a Gardenia in my house (and I had had the same experience with a stephanotis). I came home from work and walked into a brick wall of this very smokey, pissy Gardenia smell crumbling the Stephanotis in the process. THAT is Gardenia. and that was Miss Dior also. the only real Gardenia perfumes are from J.A.R. Golconda (with Carnation), Diamond Water and Jardenia. I must say that the only remnant they have to the original perfume is the edt. (and the esprit de parfum was smashing.) but this e.d.t. comes rather close to the original. the bygone perfumers are also already subsided by the marketing machine in favor of Francis Kurkdjian. no we keep ALWAYS remember the original Miss Dior and Poison (François Démachy). these are perfumes a Diorissime worthy. I felt I needed to set things straight.

Definitely can relate what @madonnatella was talking about here. Also, not only this particular one. There are way too many good perfumes / perfume houses have changed (in bad ways) due to the brands acquisition by those mindless maximum-profit-seeking multi-national cosmetic conglomerate or capital investment companies, and feeding those fast-food-like junks to tons of vanity-hungry, ill-informed customers who don't actually know how to appreciate perfumery and its craftsmanship. I'm not saying making profit or changing is bad. It's just that there always seem to be people with little knowledge in a particular professional field and already consider themselves as knowledgeable as real professionals in that field, and use their power of controlling finance to mess with the original works. ( I believe this is called "Dunning-Kruger effect.") Or even worse, they judge the works by the perfumers in favour of them, instead of aesthetics, individual philosophy and appreciation of originality. This does not only happen to those legendary designer brands, and I think there are some haunting in those so-called "niche perfume brands" already. I heartily resonate with @madonnatella's comment here and felt a bit frustrated about this phenomenon in a broader scale, not just Dior. I stumbled upon this comment and just leave it here. :/

Divine! Miss Dior (vintage extrait - NOT the current version) is a gorgeous floral chypre - heavy with orange blossom and oak moss. Miss Dior is most similar, IMO, to vintage Caleche. Why, oh WHY must the ax-murderers at IFRA gut these masterpieces. Can they not just put a warning on the label: "contains oakmoss - do not use if you are sensitive" - like a nut allergy warning on many foods? It is a criminal desecration of many works of fragrance art. And Miss Dior - vintage - is most definitely a work of art.

It's almost incomprehensible all those Miss Dior : parfum, original, new or former versions. It's smoke and mirrors. Everybody gets lost!
