New Look 2024

New Look 2024 might be the greatest showcase of how subjective fragrance truly is. A murder scene?! The most disgusting fragrance ever?! HOW? 😂 For me, it's entirely the opposite. The only thing I dislike about New Look is something a bit stale/musty/chemical-smelling in the opening. This only lasts about 30 minutes (maybe some reviewers below are reviewing from the first few minutes of spraying?). Once that dissipates, you get a high-quality "churchy" incense/frankincense/olibanum with bright, clean aldehydes resting on top that make the fragrance pop off the skin. There's no citrus listed, but I think of the yellow coloration of Les Liquides Sancti's citruses when I smell New Look as well. The amber backbone adds a tiny bit of sweetness, separating it from fragrances like CDG's Avignon. I get wafts of the fragrance throughout the wearing, and the longevity is insane. 12+ hours easily, and by the very end of its lifespan, it's still easily detectable. Despite being an incense fragrance, New Look actually is a pleasant and happy scent rather than a serious and austere one. It's unisex and all-seasonal. Can definitely make you feel clean when it's hot outside, or cozy when it's cold out. New Look 2024 is definitely not a beginner's scent, nor is it a run-of-the-mill designer freshie. I don't think any aldehydic incense fragrance could fit into those categories. Although, I do think that anyone who truly enjoys incense fragrances will find this one not only very easy to like, but very easy to wear. I actually give Mr. Kurkdjian much respect for going in this direction rather than anything else. Give it a try!

Smells like a mix of most common aliphatic aldehydes (C9, C10, C11, C12 MNA and Lauric ) hence industrial, zesty, citrus, soda-sparks, soapy. Beneath, there's nondescript watery floral hues, might be a mix of lily of the valley ingredients, Ambrox and Calone-like ones. I think it really is the odd-one of this collection. Doesn't smell bad at all, I do like the scent, but I guess this is not the alluring fragrance people have been expecting from the hyped perfumer. €265 for 125ml is outrageous to say the least. The drydown at 36 hours mark on the paper strip is still going strong with the aliphatic aldehydes, but also I can now smell Cashmeran, the woody-velvety-musky base ingredient (reference: Escentric Molecules - Molecule 05 if you want to smell pure thing diluted in alcohol). I'd very much suggest Comme des Garçons - Rouge, Comme des Garçons - Series 6 Synthetic: Soda, 27 87 - #Hashtag and Serge Lutens - Laine de Verre too for this type of abstract aldehydic blends especially CdG - Rouge having a bit more flair and complexity with much better value.

I came here to see if anyone got incense and tangerine rind? No? Just me then 😂. This does not wear as I expected with the amber being present from the off but with lots of light, freshness and a side of spice. It’s not Christmas cake but it wears as a citrus with a side of incense n spice. It’s bright bright bright but sweeter than say MFK 724. Later it softened to a soapy vibe. I know the amber is there but in a masculine soapy way. Overall I was really really amazed how I loved this. I tested it alongside YSL Jumpsuit and CDG Odeur Du Theatre Du Chatelet and this lasted longest but did fade to a lovely fresh soap scent. I was gagging to be bored by this for the sake of my bank balance but it’s going to be a very spendy but lovely daywear. Try before buy as I think it is a little more than the sum of its parts. Going to read the reviews properly now because I’m sure someone will articulate stuff I have not even thought of.

Absolute masterpiece. Such a perfect,clean smell which creates an angelic aura around you. Sparkles like bubbles of the most expensive champagne.It’s really like nothing I smelled before.There’s something very satisfying about it too, like drinking a cold glass of water after being out in the heat all day.People who hate this must perceive the scent differently or are just in denial of its greatness and uniqueness and just wanna hate on it because it’s made by Francis Kurkdijan and not Francois Demachy. It’s very light and airy but at the same time it projects and lasts a very long time (with only 2 sprays).Straight on unisex, could work for all seasons but I think it’s slightly better for warmer weather.I suggest everyone to give this at least 2-3 proper wears (2 sprays on the neck) with an open mind and then come to write a review. The 2.89 rating is a joke.

After getting surprised with all the negative reviews, I therefore conclude that New Look is a classic case of either you like it or you hate it, no in-betweens. To me though, it was love at first sniff. I'm not sure if it's just the chemistry with my skin, but this projects as straight out of the shower and putting on clothes fresh from the laundry type of clean scent. As someone who lives in a tropical country, that's the type I usually go for as it keeps me smelling and feeling fresh. The frankincense and amber notes add depth to an otherwise boring soap scent. New Look projects well and lasts longer than some of the scents from this Dior line -- a perfect summer day scent.

Don't compare this to New Look 1947—they're different fragrances and that creates unnecessary conflict. Once I viewed it independently, I loved its cool beauty. Simultaneously cool and warm with shocking aldehydes and strong amber base. Delicious incense adds interest. Testing on my hand with other fragrances, I kept noticing the amber. Once settled, there's Dior DNA underneath. Best in coldest weather for me - likely the amber. Original New Look 1947 performed beautifully in summer heat. My humid winters may affect experience and am curious about dry cold weather performance. Next-day burn off leaves skin and clothes smelling clean, fresh, and smooth.

I haven‘t had it yet, but I have tried at the store. I got an aldehyde’s burst with cold spice nuance that obviously frankincense P.S. For anyone who never try it, it’s feel like you squeezing kumquats’ basket on your face, it got some citric, metallic, and bitter And got dry down with cold nuance frankincense with amber Smell (First Impression): 4/10 Smell (Dry Down): 8/10 Uniqueness: Absolutely Yes Occasion: Everywhere except for very high heat, very cold, night out Worth: Absolutely not In this collection has more interesting scent and more worth the price.

the first time i smelled this my first thought was "this shit smells like windex" and considered it a hard pass. the SECOND though.......oh my god. the only way i can properly describe this is that it smells like how touching a metal surface on a very cold day feels in the best way possible actually now that i think abt it i have a more accurate one: it smells like how it feels to be held skin to metal skin in the tender passionate embrace of a robot/cyborg lover and never wanting to let go all that is to say: if u get it u get it and if u dont u dont

This is not sweet. This is not sexy. And it’s not trying to be. This is what you wear when you want to make an impression, and to send the message that you are to be taken seriously. The dry down on this is gorgeous, and the opening is austere in a way that would make Patrick Bateman shiver. It’s definitely polarizing, and not for everyone. I love it. It’s like an amber fragrance, except you take everything that’s warm and comforting about it out of the equation. Modern. Conceptual. Definitely a head turner. Not blind buy safe.

New Look feels like stepping into a futuristic conclave, where frankincense is reimagined through the lens of robotics and post-human spirituality. For me, it’s as if I’ve entered a space where the age-old reverence for incense has evolved into a ritual for a world dominated by synthetic beings. The scent is familiar yet alien, sacred yet cold. It feels deeply reflective, almost like witnessing how humanity’s spiritual essence might survive—and transform—in a post-human future.

Got my nose on this; opens with soapy, ice-cold, metallic rosewater, slowly transforms into a powdery incense with mineral accents. Gorgeous scent, can be worn all year round but this definitely deserves the heat of warmer days to properly showcase its effects. You either love it or hate it, but it's worth sampling. Should have definitely been a standalone Dior fragrance, not under the "New Look" umbrella. Two sprays on my inner wrist lasted about 4 hrs, noticeable on skin.

A lot of brands and creators spout minimalism but can’t help themselves and lose the plot. THIS IS MINIMALISM. It’s so stark and effective. There is an urgency to it as if it wants to pick you up by the shoulders and drag your tired ass to work. Like an ice plunge. If you don’t like frankincense it’ll be like eating your vegetables (or “smells like bleach” which is absurd since bleach is one of the most distinct smells and it is nothing like this). 4 out of 5.

Fresh soapy incense. This shouldn't work, but it does. It smells like a fancy hotel spa. The incense give it a clean dryness and the aldehydes give it that soapy clean feel. The amber on top of that gives this perfume a bit of a salty mineral note. I really love it. Again, it smells like a fancy hotel spa. Good when one wants to smell clean, fresh and sophisticated.

This is true definition of "You hate it or love it". If you hate aldehydic-soapy scent then skip it, this is straight up detergent without floral /fuity notes, very chemical and synthetic. But damn I love this, it's pure clean, fresh, very linear which is the best for layering. I have long list of floral, woody fragrances that will work as godly combo.

This perfume smells alarmingly soapy. I say this in a very positive way - it is a very strong and pleasant soap scent that has enough to it to feel quite not like soap but something different. It is minimalistic and you get what it says on the tin: aldehydes, incense, and amber. I'm amazed at how long lasting this one has been on my skin too.

Smells like a funeral home's back flower room after being deep cleaned with a strong cleaning chemical ... At first, I was turned off and confused but I actually quite love this composition and have now got a full-size otw ! Super strong silage but won't offend anyone I'd believe IMO!

For me this perfume is a masterpiece. I adore the frankinsense note and got a lot of compliments when wearing it from both women and men. Signature scent for me. Really cannot understand the reviews, there are awful and very common fragrances outhere that don't get so much hate.

This is SO beautiful. I grew up around pine trees and this really reminds me of them. It's airy, earthy and rich all at the same time and whenever I wear it everyone asks me what I've got on. It is a really unique fragrance and my all time favourite.

This is a beautiful perfume. It is a clean scent, as though you've just stepped out of a fragrant bath, but with a gorgeous frankincense overtone. I can't think of another scent on the market that's similar to it, such is its unique fragrance.

If you’ve ever played silent hill 2 and wondered what the final boss fight would smell like it’s this. Iron church smell. Cacophonous amber fragrance. An instant love. Better than any other of what Dior Private collection has to offer.

I think it's beautiful clean unisex but a bit masculine leaning feeling like smell. I enjoy it when I feel like having this type of clean sophisticated bubble smell. Can't understand the reviews at all. Perfect for it's kind

Smells like a distinguished gentleman in downtown going to his lunch break from his office. Creates a bubble around you, can be worn all year with great longevity, especially on the clothes.

Absolute masterpiece. Perfect performance. Clean, sparkling and elegant but never dull. Ideal for the warmer months. I do not understand the negativity, or why it is so polarising, at all.

I was hoping for something more unique lol This is very similar to Craft Andrea Maack. Nice, but nothing new. Fresh air and a clean soapy insence.

Such a soapy fizzy tea like frag! I thoroughly enjoy, but do NOT blind buy. Not a super strong sillage, but more like a tiny bubble of freshness.

I am obsessed with this. It smells like a fizzy, gingery soda. I get whiffs of it while I'm wearing it and it makes me smile.

Dior New Look (2024) - aldehydic amber - This review of #franciskurkdijan creation for Dior will be divisive. Old school traditionalists will complain on how this perfume under the new creative nose is lackluster and banal. In truth, if we assess based on benchmarks such as Diorella, Oud Ispahan, or Vetiver, that has some merit. But like any designer house, things change. Tastes change. To me, I love that Mr. Kurkdijan is looking to the future and getting inspired from the looks he sees on the runway and less to focus on specific ingredients - to which his predecessor did. Dior’s new look in 2024 focuses on blacks and whites using lace that creates an interplay with light and shadow. Smell wise, even after smelling thousands of perfume, has a distinct and interesting character. Easy to wear even. Aldehydes does not resemble the very powdery Lanvin Arpege or YSL’s Riva Gauche, but more akin to Chanel’s soapy quality muted to a quarter of its strength. Clean yet soft. Fragile crystals. As the fragrances progresses, we sense shadows and wisps of Incense & Olibanum together with the warmth of Amber. Androgynous in its personality. Sits close to the skin and would be anosmic to some, but clings tenaciously on skin & clothing. To end, we need to learn to let go. But, it would be interesting to see Dior in the next decade or so and what masculine launch Mr. Kurkdijan would pull off after Sauvage.

Very simple scent. Incense, aldehydes, and amber, and that is exactly what you get. Linear fragrance that is rather jarring when initially sprayed. The beginning smells like I'd imagine the inside of a robot would smell. Metallic with a little bit of earthy gear grease. The amber base warms it up slightly in the drydown. This is not a complex amber either, its slightly creamy and smooth like tonka, but you don't get any labdanum or vanilla. Dior calls it and "ambery accord " Performance is solid. Sticks to my skin 8 hours. Overall, this is a very basic scent made with reasonably good quality ingredients. It feels cold and indifferent. Like something a very analytical and serious person with a cold personality would wear. I can't help but think it's massively overpriced for what it is but then again, there's nothing precisely like it, so it does give you a unique experience you can't get anywhere else. It's an acquired taste, but one on the tip of my tongue. It's reminiscent of a freshly-cleaned soda fountain, and the carbonation bubbles flaring your nostrils as you peer down into your freshly poured paper cup. It's something cold, lifeless, yet some like that. The fragrance equivalent of touching of a metal stairway rail in December. As it fades down, its metallic bitterness crawls away, bringing out the carbonation further. Aldehydes and church incense, how could I ever dislike this? It's definitely the black sheep of the La Privee family, perhaps a few skeletons in his closet, and that's why the comparisons to a crime scene. Certainly for the minimalists of the world, I believe it could work all year round but will personally be using my bottle in the winter months the most. Unisex but as per most unisex Dior I believe a woman would pull it off better. (I may be biased)

I thought I loved it, but every time I wear it I like it less, culminating in today's wear, which I found myself scrubbing after ten minutes. The aldehydes are very loud and cheesey, and although there is incense, there's not enough going on to balance out the aldehydes. Many houses seem to be releasing aldehyde forward scents again. For example Frédéric Malle with Acne Studios, this latter perfume being far more interesting than New Look 2024. As another reviewer said, this comes off as budget Serge Lutens, and I actually disagree with what that reviewer said about the lack of rough edges here, as to me the aldehydes veer too caustic. This and Spice Blend are firmly my least favourite from the Dior exclusives, which on the whole I find to be more hit than miss.

This fragrance is for bad people who want others to have a good opinion of them. Its for people who want a New look. People who want to look angelic. This fragrance gives an angelic aura. Like if There are charges held against you, wear this at the court and you will Be free. I think Dexter would wear this. Theres is a guilty metallic note which is hiding behind the innocent prominent aldehyde note. Thats the metal from the knives used to commit the crimes. Thats why some may find this note unpleasant. I wouldnt wear it everyday, only for special occasions where you Need to look like a good person (marriage, baptism...) I love it. Its addictive to me.

Minimalismo com complexidade. Não é uma fragrância fácil de ser sentida e apreciada, talvez por isso a tenha como uma obra prima da minha coleção. É um perfume fascinante, a cada minuto ele assenta diferente na pele criando uma transformação de aromas. Ele me remete a um dia ensolarado em meio ao inverno de Nova York caminhando pelo central Park. Remete a um look sofisticado, novo. Para quem quer ser notado e respeitado, e não elogiado. Enfim, não é um perfume que uso no dia a dia por ser extremamente frio e difícil de agradar quem está perto, mas certamente em ocasiões especiais onde quero ser notada e lembrada.

I got to smell this at a Dior party in December and have had the same thoughts ever since. To me, this fragrance has nothing to do with the idea of Dior's New Look (I never smelled the old one so no clue if its similar). I'm by no means a Francis Kurkdjian Stan but I actually like this one. It reminds me of a very specific Finnish sauna soap that I'd find in someones summer cottage. Definitely not worth the price, since I could use the sauna soap for far less. To me the color in the bottle also isn't fitting...I was imagining more of a green hue based on smell alone.

Picture this: You took a bath in pool water and used heavy soap before entering a church and opening up a robot. You can smell the chlorine, soap, incense, cold metal, and gear grease from inside the robot. The day is overcast and the scene is mixed with both ancient history and future technology. Simple ingredients, yet the experience is a strange fever dream. Most people I let smell this perfume hate it, but it's fascinating to me and there's nothing else quite like it. This will probably be discontinued because it's so weird. But I like it

I was very confused upon the first few minutes of smelling this, I felt like someone was peeling a bar of Irish Spring soap right in front of my nose, buttttt, I didn't hate it. Moments later it gets warm and fuzzy and dries down like nothing I've smelled before. I'm loving the contrast of the ice cold burst and the warm balmy dry down. I can see this being a well dressed persons signature scent and I'm contemplating picking up at least the smallest size bottle. I think this will work year round due to the warm and ice cold facets.

Opens like a juniper-scented bubble bath! The bubbles get more intense, floating up and bursting on the ceiling. Like you got drunk on gin while taking a soapy bath. Then it calms down to a sort of ferny, soapy/woody gentlemen's cologne. Obviously it's nothing like the 1947-inspired 'New Look'. This is fun, reminds me of something Penhaligon's might have brought out and called some sort of daft name like 'Bathtime for Barnaby' !

I think the way this perfume unfolds really depends on your skin and the surrounding environment, which is probably why it has so many haters. I personally really liked it🤩 Yes, it's unusual) For me it's definitely for a special mood rather than everyday wear — but there's something incredibly attractive and captivating about it✨

Decided to try this one on paper because of its unique note structure. It is a nice allround scent that smells very luxurious. It is completely unisex, and the incense and aldehydes combined give this a cold piney citrusy feel that reminds me of cold winter air. Unfortunately it is too expensive for me to justify buying it

It smells like catholic churches....and frankinscense used in them for the rituals. If you want to go further,,,it smells exactly like the Spiritus Sancti candle from Trudon. It's unusual,calming scent. I like it! Would have wear it...but not every day...it needs that special mood or occasion.

Smells Nice ! But Familiar. To me this is like carving out the Aldehydic Soapy side of Chanel No.5 and add Incense to it with a musky/light ambery background. It smells like Hotel lobbies and SPA receptions it also reminds me by a bubble bath tub full of incense sugar. Cheers.

I like it, although I'm not a big fan of aldehydes, but this! this is aldehydes done right, they go so well with the frankincense I don't quite get the amber rather something incensey but not in a smokey manner. Price point is unjustifiable though!!

Surprisingly nice. Aldehydic, lots of frankincense, a base that is possibly spicy. A less complex take on Chanel no. 22? New Look radiates a high-pitched cleanliness like TF Grey Vetiver and SMN Iris, more as an attitude, not actual notes. Unisex.

This is like a 2 dimensional LAVS from F Sorcinelli - almost feels like a robbery of the opening but with no evolution or depth as it sits. Lasts 6+ hrs on skin but spend less and get a better scent with LAVS
