Oud Elixir Precieux

Oh wow! Got to try these in Paris and I have to say I was impressed by how uncompromising they are, this is fragrance for the heads! An Oud of high quality, majestic, cerebral, complex and deep. A perfect balance of smoky, dark, woody spice and animal, musky, slightly medicinal tones. That's not the whole story though because it also has facets of ambery sweetness. Like all these high end Dior fragrances just seems to strike the right balance. I really liked it, not my favourite thing but goes to show Oud continues not to give up all it's secrets.

I tired this today in the Dior store. I really really love this ! It is not barnyard/farm smelling. It is however animalic in the sense it smells like an animal (I feel it smells like a horse) in a clean way. I would not go as far as to say there is no oud in this. Some of the oud I tried smells in the same style as this. It has an animalic undertone. Notewise I get an animalic musk, some wood and a honey type note (just a hint of it). The price is however too high for me. I would buy it if it was around 150 dollars.

Took a while to figure out what the smell this reminded me of was but if did seem familiar: Cuir Cannage from the same house, which is equally great. I don't think CC is an easy find anymore so if you're longing for that smell this Oud Elixir may be it. But definitely not what I call an Oud. Very good, though, ticks all the boxes (sillage, longevity etc) but I guess Demachy used the same magic in both Cuir Cannage and this Oud Elixir

This is my absolute favourite attar stunning scent although i would say its more musk than oud. This along with widan liwa fragrance are my two all time favourite fragrance/attar makes me smile every time ive put my nose on it and ive been wearing this attar for 2 years now. Expensive at £300 for 3ml but well worth it in my opinion

I never found an oil as good as this one and as long lasting as this one. Still in love with this oil

I tried this briefly in store, it was a mildly animalic smell that was very rich and enveloping. I don't think I'm experienced enough with real oud to judge further though.

This is not a proper oud oil. Let me say that clearly as a Middle Eastern that currently has a lot of oud-centered EDPs, 2 natural oud oils (Thai & Cambodian), has gone through many oud tolas & EDPs, & is currently sitting in his living room that is scented with the smell of coal-burnt natural oud wood. Dior's Oud Elixir Precieux is not a natural oud oil, not by smell at the very least. It smells mainly like honey: soft, malleable, and lightly-sweet. There is a dash of an animalic note that gives Oud Elixir Precieux some warm & mature lightly-woody feel. There is a very faint scent of oud hours into the dry down. However, the semisweet honey smell is 90% of the scent for the life of the fragrance. This was disappointing really. It make me wonder how much is Dior ripping us off with their other fragrances. Slightly sweet, syrupy, honey, lightly animalic, warm, lightly woody. You are better off getting an affordable 3ml natural oud oil for $50 from any reputable oud retailer. Let me know, I'll gladly help you. Mature, cool weather, unisex wear. "OK" & hard pass.

Mix of labdanum, smoky wood accord and a high dose of indole. Smells nothing like real oud I’ve tried from different regions. Gotta admit though that indolic part is a neat trick and very french way to tackle an oud accord. Untutored nose will buy it, but I just can't shake off the feeling of smelling dirty jasmin sambac.

For this price I expected to smell highest quality of real oud (I was open for it to be any kind of oud) but to my surprise this is not it. All I get is not particularly interesting musk and maybe strange smelling myrrh, very synthetic (in a bad way, I do like good synthetics). It's not complex, deep or unique to make up for it in other ways, which is a shame. It's as if the ingredients had gone bad and they still went through with it, Demachy has done better "ouds" for Dior with aroma chemicals costing a fraction of this I was really hoping for his attar oud to be some good shit. Instead upon trying I freaked out thinking I'm trying a counterfeit or ruined parfum, but well reading the first review here feels comforting! (?) Idk doesn't make this "attar" any better but least I wasn't taken for ride by the friend I swapped with... My friend is cool, unlike this synthetic mess. In few words: the proof that price doesn't represent quality.

This is not oud. As Adam said below, you only have to check out an oud produced by an authentic distiller to smell that something is wrong with this Dior oud. I am not the type of guy who always thinks that synthetics are inferior to natural oils, because they can be delicious, but this product is really not very pleasant. I tried it in the fragrance department at Selfridges in London and within 30 minutes, I felt like it was wearing me, rather than the other way around. It smelled sinister and quite unappealing. Almost like diesel or aviation fuel plus hot plastic and a black musk accord.

The dry down smells really strange. Like someone made a cough syrup flavored with synthetic oud . In price same price of around 400 USD you an buy a 300 years old-aged oud perfume in some nice mid-east brands!!

Like other said, this is not oud at all. They just can't make perfume as good as oriental ones.. Stay away from it.

Oud elixir by Dior smells just about 100% close to my cheap Black Musk attar that I bought in the middle-east..

Definitely not real oud. Pure synthetics and smells that way. Nothing rich and realistic. Stay away.

100% agree with @Adam's Oud and @OudSan it's smell like "Musk kl" by Surrati sell in aluminum bottle which is coast about $0,5 per milliliter, nothing more to say...

superb example of a westernized oud larping as a legit one although i don't know who it's made for - actual oud enthusiasts will be annoyed by it but there's enough funk to deter the hesitant. price is fucking ridiculous, the epitome of luxury and logic proving they want nothing to do with the other, and while i find it awesome to wear (inherited bottle), like @Parliament mentions below once you spot the whole manky sambac vibe it's hard to unsmell it. Definitely worth checking out if you get the chance, but I don't know how many things have to go right and wrong in your life to actually go out and purchase a bottle unless you're the most determined and diehard collector.

Oud.. not sure if dior is marketing this as real oud oil, but if they do like the lady in the store.. they really rip you off! Very very expensive for no oud at all, alright maybe slightly but you got the point. But in certain circumstances as a scent on its own it’s beautiful, bit musky, bit animalic bit airy and bit dirty at the same time.. longevity is pretty good 12+ hours indeed but projection is just ok specially after 2/3 hours almost skin scent. Maybe try it out after heating the body.. anyways good smell, expensive and no or at least very very less oud in here.

nothing like real pure oud you will experience here ... i only sense synthetic BLACK MUSK akin to the one by SURRATI perfumes =) you may disagree... if you ready to spend that much i suggest to visit agar aura or ensar oud ....there you can learn and experience real OUD ....

Smells beautiful, but there is 0 oud in it. Now, if it came as a 125 ml edp (like the usual the private collection frags) I'd buy it. But as a 3ml attar for 400 dollars? Nah. Not in a hundred years. If you really love it, try Xerjoff Mamluk. Quite similar.
