Poison Eau de Cologne

At the outset I get booziness and a bold tuberose sweetened with plum. Then my favorite part, the combination of wild berries and anise literally smells like strawberry twizzlers! As it begins to settle, the incense becomes evident, along with powdery heliotrope, musk, and a honeyed amber. The woods and spices (besides anise and cinnamon) are mostly in the background, making this primarily plum, tuberose, liquorice, honey-amber bomb in incense. I find the fragrance at once comforting and intoxicating. One of my all-time favorite note combinations, I do love bold and sweet, spiced-plum florals. Especially when they have that genuine eighties vintage vibe. I can't get enough! 😌💜 As expected for a cologne, the longevity is not great. But this is the breezy, airy sister to the original Poison. For modern day comparison, I can say with confidence this fragrance inspired the lovely Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir & Musc Noir Rose; and I get the same effect from Mugler's Alien, which is essentially just a pared down version of the original Poison DNA (pared down as in no complex layers of spices, incense, and no heliotrope note, but still a beast mode white floral amber fra).

I recently picked up a vintage EDC bottle of this at an estate sale for a not so bargain price. From the very first whiff I was taken back to the era it came out in...the Eighties. Life was so easy back then. I was in high school. Madonna and Michael were putting out hit after hit. President Reagan was on the TV. Large desktop computers were the newest "gadgets" even though the world wide web was not released to the public until 1990. Trump was the entrepreneur of the decade. It was a time of opulence and a time of change for the world at large. And then there was Poison. This beauty of a fragrance was/is mesmerizing. A friend of mine wore this in high school and I loved catching whiffs of it. I still think of her witchy personality when I smell it. If an actual witch had a smell it would be this. It is spicy, sweet and potent. Such an iconic fragrance. I love the berry-balsamic goodness of this EDC. I had the EDT back in the nineties and never got another bottle for some reason. I am thrilled to have a vintage bottle of this back in my collection. It has a hefty price tag everywhere but it is worth every red cent.

This was the first 80s powerhouse perfume I ever purchased and I remember it distinctly. It lit a fire and burned my taste buds away for any other perfume for years. The EDC is lighter than the EDT of course. Longevity is superb even after decades. Sillage radiates moderately at arm's length for me. The EDC emphasizes the coconut aspect of the tuberose with the signature grape plummy nuances calling out every few minutes to those I pass by. It will always remain a legendary perfume in the history of time. I adore the new formulations as well, however they are definitely whispers of their mother scent. She was born and aged, but she did so gracefully and passed down her DNA to her reformulated daughters. :) I do feel as if the notes are more easy to 'catch' in terms of their presence than in the EDT. A very well crafted masterpiece for sure! This shall always be my favorite!

Vintage Poison cologne was the very first Poison Dior released. Soon the heavier EDT followed, then the Esprit formulation. Cologne is lighter (compared to the EDT) more floral, sweeter/balsamic than the Edt or Esprit. This vintage isnt dated and pretty. Worth a check out if you can find it. However, prices are similar to the edt, so the edt is a richer experience. If your a poison fan, or want it dialed back for a "daytime" Poison..the vintage Cologne is for you.

I rediscovered my bottle that I bought on eBay dated from 1987 and it STILL holds up. This bottle is 7 years older than me! At first, it's a clash of notes, but once you hit that 5 minute mark, it's gorgeous. Sweet plum and berries, heavy musk, and woodiness. SO cozy for this cold weather!

Recently purchased a vintage bottle from 1987! A lighter and fresher version of the EDT. I prefer the EDC. It's more suitable for everyday wear.

So my husband found a full bottle for a great deal at a Goodwill and bought it for me because he knows I love weird discontinued stuff. I told him there is a bit of a risk because we don't know how it was stored, and something this old could have turned a bit and have some funky top notes. So bear all this in mind as I write this review. The opening is spicy (as it's supposed to be) but it's also very alcoholic and boozey. I suppose that's where I should have detected dark fruits and berries but they were obscured by something oily and waxy... Almost like a soapy aldehyde. It also smells like very old crayons. I thought that this was total bust. But then I started to smell the tuberose and jasmine and honey. Heady, creamy animalic notes that almost reminded me of narcissus. I was starting to really enjoy the 'trail' that I left. It's complex in that it feels like both a pissy indolic smell (not a bad thing), but simultaneously, a really clean & old fashioned bathroom with fancy oils and potpourri. I don't get too much of the base notes listed above. It gently tapers off into a mature clean scent and then disappears. Although, at times I could have sworn I was getting whiffs of strawberry twizzlers. It feels a little too mature for me, but I still think I can pull this off on the right occasion.

I liken this EDC to a watercolor Picasso. Take the original Poison, switch its density for sheerness, then rearrange its component parts in Cubist fashion. The heavier elements of Poison—plum and honey—are no longer foregrounded. They’re off in the distance, and tuberose becomes the highlight. Very much recognizable as Poison, but like you’re smelling it from different “angles” than before. I’m not sure whether there’s a difference between bottles labeled “Eau de Cologne” and “Eau de Cologne / Light Cologne.” I have a bottle of the former, and it projects and lingers longer than most other EDCs. I’m a Poison fiend and love all its iterations, but I wear this form least often. Give me the OOMPH of the EDT or esprit de parfum instead!

I recently got a bottle of this that I'm deciding to sell on. It's a vintage bottle, address is 33 Avenue Hoche, batch code: 5F242 It's definitely Poison. It's spicy, it's tuberose-y, plummy. But only for the first few minutes, then it almost disappears on my skin. It has a high concentration of alcohol and you can smell that in the first spray, it's not oily and leaves no residue on the skin. It's smells beautiful, but it's just too weak for me. Feel like I'd need to apply it every hour. Tabu is a much stronger Eau de Cologne but I was expecting more from Poison.

I bought a vintage bottle of this 3.4 ounce for $120 on ebay. I remember this perfume differently. The one I bought I made sure was vintage and I just don't love it. I have used it once. If anyone wants to trade for this, please let me know. Not my jam at all.

Found a sealed bottle and it was a pleasure to open it. It is a splash bottle and beautiful color of the juice. Pink/purple-ish. Can smell the tuberose pretty well,strong and beatiful for an Edc. I can swap it tho,have the edt also so...

Lighter and fresher version of edp poison. I like it more than the original one. It also last a long and projection is good also.

I wanted to love this perfume so much. I even tried the parfum to see if it made a difference. It didn't. It has so many things I absolutely love. I keep trying it to see if someday, my body chemistry will have just the right oomph to make it smell wonderful. It smells great on other people. Oh well. :(

I should have left a review of this when I first found fragrantica! Poison was my first grown up perfume. So in the late 90s-now, it went from edp to edt. But the edt is as strong as the edp. I’ve never had the elixir, not needed! It’s a beast in edt. And I still love her (I’ve left my raving reviews of its spicy plum and vanilla base yummines man killer) ha but I was remembering the cologne the other day! And it’s pretty amazing for a “cologne” I actually loved this bottle being somewhat sheer and taller compared to the current. And the look of this bottle? Gives off the vibe of what’s insides! It’s still lovely Poison juice, but just toned down a bit. And now that it’s spring? I wish they still made this one! I’m off to Mercari to see if I can find her!! Poison is known for never fading thru the years and often being even better!! I love this perfume!! And people who diss my baby saying she’s too much and trashy and gross!?? Are haters ha and shame on them! This is a classic! This and the now only available edt!! I’ve been “dating” and married since 1987 at 17 and my first bf second husband etc lol and all the dates in between?? Have loved this scent! Not many current gals wear this! And I’ve dated men ten yrs younger also who love this! I’ve yet to find a man who hasn’t stuck their nose in my neck and stayed there! And I also wear it for MYself! When I want to feel strong and sexy but I’m feeling bla? This wakens me!! Ok I ramble too long on how much I love this brew! It’s plum cinnamon and a tuberose center..that then softens with its vanilla muskiness...I will literally be buried in this! It would be sooo cool if Dior, did a modern version!? I wonder if MFK could do something interesting with thiss?? 🧐

Poison Eau de Cologne is the perfectly balanced version of Poison Espirit de Parfum. The espirit de parfum is a beautfiul cacophony of ingredients that sometimes work on the skin and sometimes don't. The eau de toilette is a creamy, though beautiful, mess, on me at least. Having tried all versions of original Poison that there is, including the elusive 'Light Cologne' and parfum, I can safely say that this one has best stood the test of time. This feels like a more thought out endeavour, rather than an afterthought. No mistakes were made. It lasts longer than the current eau de toilette and projects comfortably. The Eau de Cologne Light did both of these things, but it seems that was more of an afterthought... sadly, could have been beautiful. This particular formulation is quite heavy on the tuberose & honey, with plum and spices taking a bit of a back seat. Pepper & anise are probably the most notable for me, then cinammon. Vanilla & berries make this a tad more noire than the lightly coloured juice might suggest. Vanilla is usually sweet in today's scents but this is dry and boozy. If the advertisement with the black panther best suited the epirit de parfum, then the advert with the beautiful model dancing in front of a mirror while getting ready to go out for a day best suits this. It's the day time scent, the light and beautiful office friendly scent. Can overwhelm... so just don't spray too much. And don't do that anyway, because it's vintage and simply the best dahling

Oh my f-ing God! I saw it accidentally next to Burberry Brit EDT for women in my best friend mother's collection. What a poison! One snif and I went back more than 15 years! I am not 100% sure even if fragrantica have listed it since the bottle hasn't a spray, it was quite redish in color like Hypnotic's poison and it says eau de toilette. Though the notes are quite similar to what I smell, as I said a travel machine. Plum, honey, incense, precious/unique woody and spicy notes. It reminds me of years that perfumes had character. Years with kisses and hugs full of feelings and where there weren't many option. Signatures were quite easy back then. Like for a 'full' personality if it makes sense, not for me, Prada Candy gloss could be it's daughter nowdays, but I would love to smell it while in a hug of a mature woman.

These are the ones I remember Sandra wearing! This is 80,s POISON! The bottles are empty but for a residue but I can still smell it clearly. I can recall this mixed with the smell of hot curlers warming up and hair spray. and Revelon Lipstick! I have held onto all three sizes, so happy I didn't throw them out with all the other poison bottles I threw out over the years! (Didn't keep My Tendra Green bottle did I.? )

I finally took the chance and bought one off of Ebay! Omigosh this is a glorious powerhouse fragrance. The new toilette is nothing compared to this. I cannot stop smelling myself. It is a heady, rich fragrance that feels magical somehow. This is what Arwen or Galadriel must have smelled like: it's an enchanting, yes that's the word, fragrance. God bless Ebay.

Add my review to those that love this version best. I thought I would love the Esprit version best but with that, even two drops is too much. This one is so much more wearable and for every day too. You can smell so may notes in this and it lasts hours and hours, which surprised me. It's also not harsh.

My mom had a bottle of this on her vanity for years/decades. I never appreciated it, as kids often do not appreciate great things. My mom gave the bottle to my sister years ago, who recently mentioned her tossing it around out because “cosmetics expire”. CURSES!!!!

My grandmother used to wear it. Still gorgeous and elegant as always. This is for women who knows what to choose but still can have fun.

If you can find this vintage Gems get it,worth every cents compared to the current version of Dior poison that for sale these days 😞
