Do nosso caderno

I am wearing this stuff since I was 13... No joke! I am from Eastern Europe and just before the fall of the Iron curtain, my dad and his friend went for summer job in France. I still do not know how they managed to get the permission from the communist party, but they did get there and spent all summer working on some farm. This is very ridiculous to even think about, because my father has about 7 university degrees and he was a scientist who was doing engineering inventions before he started his own business. He earned a lot of money comparing to the value of work and salary in my country during communism, and he returned back with many gifts and he got my mom a box of Dior Poison eau de cologne and esprit de parfum. My mom kept eau the cologne and she gave me (13 years old girl) the Christian Dior Esprit de parfum!!!! I just do not know whether I shall laugh or grasp about this :-) Yes, and I was wearing esprit to the school everyday! Teachers and everyone has been asking me about my perfume and lets say it lightly, I have been a rarity, because we just did not have Dior in my country back then. We could only dream about it. The iron curtain worked wonders in blocking all the culture, fashion and beauty from the west. Communist ideology wanted our women to work, wear grey clothes and not think about useless vanity. I got terrible allergy on my neck. I ended up in the dermatologist office. They asked me to bring that perfume and they took two samples. They taped one of them on my back, to be sure that it was the culprit of my problem. The second sample was sent to lab for analysis. Can you imagine my doctors madness? 13 years old using Dior. They even wanted to know how I got it :-)))))))) Nurse and doctor have been surprised, shocked and laughing silly when taking samples, they never had bottle of Dior in their hands in their life. It was the first time they saw such thing. Neverthless, when results from lab arrived, it was quite a surprise, Esprit contained real snake venom poison. Poison was real poison back then. It was year 1989 and in a few weeks the iron curtain fell and Dior came to my country with all the grace. Our lifes changed forever. I changed my Esprit to my moms cologne, as my mom was not allergic to esprit and I was not allergic to Cologne and my journey with perfumes started. I had many, many perfumes in my life, but Poison Esprit will always be my first love and my first poison. All this memory brings smile to my face. Regarding the scent, unfortunatelly todays perfume can not do justice to the original frag, it was just magical and exquisite. Witchy, dark, mesmerizing and huge. One drop of Esprit lasted all day and projected like crazy. This is timeless scent, but today I reserve it for autumn and winter evenings and special ocasions. It is scent that would fit to silky satin evening gown, fur shawl, long pearl necklace and sleek wavy hair, very dark wine red lipstick and smoky eyeshadows. If you are blonde, this is not for you, unless you are very strong personality. Wicked honeyed berries, plums with coriander and anise, incense and myriad of other witchy ingrediences cooked in the cauldron of Sanderson sisters on the Halloween night. Dior poison is here to be admired and worshiped. It is here for very rare women and men, for very special ocassions. It is here to put a spell on everybody who smells it.

This review is for the Vintage EDT formula, those marked 30 Avenue Hoche, likely dating from 1985-1987. From the bottle the juice is heavy on alcohol and positively a collision of spices, not much floral or vanilla yet. On and wet it’s quite dramatic, a little sweeter than the straight juice. Once dry, it’s rounder, softer with the vanilla blooming and a touch of bandaid (tip to Brazilian rosewood). Apply this with caution, though it is lovely, it is a grower. Within ten minutes the dark fruits of plum and berries, tuberose, a very clean honey, and more white florals perform their magic, a dance of sugar, plums, and fairies. Two hours in and it’s as rich as first applied. Big, comforting and less a poison than, in fact, the loveliest antidote to how perfume had been marketed to women until this time. It’s name and presentation hinted at darkness, mystery, and danger, which in no small measure were part of it’s appeal. I’ll admit I loved it upon its release. Not just the scent. I was sold on it’s dark branding, the foreboding name. Those two elements singlehandedly dispatched with all the wan, polite offerings that were on hand up to this point. Estee Lauder’s Beautiful and White Linen, RL’s Lauren, Oscar de la Renta’s Ruffles, (yes, Ruffles, Need I say more?), and the most dreadful of all Anais Anais with its hazy (lazy) image of two expressionless young women. These fragrances focused on notions of romance, innocence, outdated tropes of femininity. Add to this, the mid 80’s felt as though everyone and everything moved to the same drumbeat, capitalism reigned supreme, conspicuous consumption reached its apotheosis with designers slapping their names on everything, particularly fragrance. Greed was good. Ralph Lauren’s defining fragrance for men, Polo, worn by nearly every male between the ages of 18 - 45 was a fragrance named after a sport, so elite that virtually no one who wore the scent had ever witnessed, let alone participated in. That’s where we were. Dior’s Poison was in fact an an abrupt interruption to all this sameness, the keeping up with the Joneses that was so endemic to society at that time. I’m firmly outside the camp that parrots notions of this as being a dated fragrance, but it’s so strongly associated with its time of release and (largely due to its status as a bit of a game changer) that it’s an easy and rather handy thing to say about it. But dated it is not. Instantly familiar and recognizable, yes, dated, no. Consider its comfort. It’s an old friend you haven’t seen in years. It was, after all, 1985 and as no decade ever really arrives at its identity until the halfway mark, so too did the 80’s. But the neat trick here, is rather than darkness and danger, this scent, as it ushered in the 80’s genuine arrival, was all warmth and softness, some sugar, much spice. And for all it’s size, was less bomb than balm. A sweet, enveloping cloud of white florals, vanilla, delicate spices, soft woods, a complex arrangement that hummed it’s very own tune in perfect harmony. If you were there, it felt like no other. If you are here, wear it and smile.

I'm blown away. Almost literally. This was one of the only perfumes my mother wore when I was a child (this and the original Lagerfeld Chloe). Over the years, it became a scent I equated to snuggles and the comfort of home. Our blankets all smelled of it, her hairbrush smelled of it, and a big hug in the morning would leave me smelling like poison while I was in school. I've been out of the house now for more than 10 years and I had never once thought to try this for myself. "So.." I thought, "maybe I'll buy a bottle.. for nostalgia's sake." Fast forward a few weeks and I gave $100 hard earned bucks for a 100mL bottle.. a pretty ridiculous sum to give for something I only planned to spray on blankets and give the occasional sniff. I sprayed some on my neck and wrists when I got into the car. "Yep, still strong," I thought. "Just like I remember." Now, I have no idea if this IS what I remember, but it was immediately familiar and comforting to me. That said, it was a BEAST. Strong, in-your-face and even a bit.. sharp? bitter? "This will DEFINITELY be an at-home scent only." But good things come to those who wait. Fast forward a few hours. The top notes gave way to a hazy, sexy cloud. I never thought of this scent as sexy as a child.. but it is. Deep. Sensual. Maybe even a hint dusty. There's that underlying layer of play-doh/hairspray I've come to love in the other Dior Poison flankers (Hypnotic AND Pure). "Jesus, this is good." My skin eats fragrance. Either that or I'm only obsessed with VERY heavy scents. Think Mugler's Angel or Alien. I like things that hang around. This scent easily lasts 8+ hours on me. And guess what? That's for the current formulation of this scent - one I've read doesn't hit the mark for longtime Poison lovers in the longevity department. To add to my discovery of this scent, I've recently ordered an unopened, vintage bottle. We'll see what all of the buzz is about ;) Oh, Poison. I get it now. My mom had/has good taste. Now I guess I do, too. Update - My vintage bottle came in and oh my.. pure sex appeal. It’s easily 10x better than the current formulation. Everything in this version is done with a layer of.. honey? It’s sweet and oozes something sultry I can’t quite put my finger on.. I think I need to find another vintage bottle.

This is for the currently available reformulated EDT. It’s a beautiful pale violet color and the liquid itself smells of mostly aromatic spices but somehow a round inviting scent. On, it’s quite sweet, I get honey and tuberose and even the spices here, which are much apparent, have a sweetness, perhaps it’s the balsamic quality or something resinous. I don’t recognize cinnamon outright (always a blessing) and there are hints of smokiness which aligns with the incense. About 8 min, are the vanilla, jasmine, and heliotrope, plus a dizzying list of notes and they’re all and weaving in and out. Just a small dab at the base of my thumb and it’s filled the air around me. To spray this, on and wet, it is pretty much exactly how it will remain for some time. It’s a touch brighter than the vintage, a touch effervescent. It has a fresh element the original lacks. Surprising in a reformulation. In a side by side comparison this opens a bit favorably to the original, with all the familiar elements, dark fruits, spices, big white florals, vanilla and the same soft woods. After nearly an hour, it’s still very appealing but some weaknesses are showing compared to the vintage. The main players still very much present but the whole is dulled down a touch. Still very wearable and an easy recommend (just indulging in some hair-splitting in a side by side test with the vintage). 1hour 15 min in, it’s still sweet, now ambery and resinous, sandalwood and a bit of a play doughy note that isn’t bothersome. There’s still honey, jasmine and white florals. Two hours in, and it’s still so very familiar, so much going on at once. Cozy with it resinous fruits, spices and sweetness. A provocatively named fragrance cloaked in deep purple glass and an emerald box pulls a sleight of hand and delivers a great big balm of sweet dark fruits, white flowers, gentle spices and comfort. Poison was nothing of the kind. It enveloped you in a warm embrace of delicious and harmonious contrasts all soft edges and roundness. The scents from a favorite and familiar kitchen ahum with the baking of fruit pies. Pastry dough, stewed fruits, spices and warm woods. It is an old friend. It is comfort. It is fondness.

Some time ago I wrote how similar Poison is to Lou Lou by Cacharel. As much as I adore Lou Lou, I have to correct myself. Both fragrances aren't so similar after all. I ordered Poison mainly because of the tuberose, that I'm addicted to in perfumery. Poison opens in a dark green, velvety way. According to Dior's website, the main notes are as follows: Top notes- Russian coriander Middle notes - Indian Tuberose Base notes - Opoponax Luckily I don't really get fruity notes. I get fresh spice, a proper dose of provocative, sharp tuberose, dark greens and balsamic opoponax. It's strong. So strong that when I came back from the perfumery, opened up the cellophane in order to access the perfume inside, I could already smell Poison without even opening the box. I'm also relieved, that my 2025 original bottle smells exactly the same as I remember it in 2012, when I was introduced to Poison. I believe a general problem on fragrantica is, that a lot of people are reviewing fakes, that they acquired on suspicious websites, believing that they are making a great deal. Another thing, that is misleading, is that our dear mothers and grandmothers used to massively overspray fragrances, which is not how you properly wear perfume. That explains the enormous sillage, that most of us remember. Up to 7 or more sprays, how some reviewers write, that they use, is way too much. I can still smell my one spray on my chest, under my clothes, after 12h. And still with that one spray I often fear that I might distract my coworkers. As someone who owns a lot of really old perfumes from the 1910s, 1920s, 1940s, I get a classic vibe from Poison, but not an old or outdated one. I can see Poison on a young, carefree person as well as a mature, sophisticated one. Whith the following final thoughts I'd like to say that there are perfumes out there that have earned their status as legends and Poison has anchored its place among the biggest and best scents ever created. It's a true magical blend, that has to be experienced for decades to come, because they don't make perfumes like this anymore. One day Gen Z or Gen Alpha will not be able to fathom, that this is what we wore.

My experience with Poison: Was back in the early 90s when I was just a teen misfit. My babysitter at the time had brought a drunken friend over who passed out on the couch to sleep off a hangover while I was on the way to school. I walked over to her inebriated skanky person and noticed she had left her purse open. I looked in to make sure she didn't have drugs because the LAST thing I wanted is to leave to school wondering if there were drugs in the house where my brother (who was still a child at the time) might get curious and accidently ingest some. I looked around her bag... condom wallet cigarettes very nice zippo lighter something which I think was a pregnancy test (could have been a spermicide applicator) keys loose change ripped paper with an unknown number on it and... a most intriguing dark purple bottle. It was fairly new, for the bottle was mostly full and I can smell its magic faintly from the sprayer. I went ahead and spritzed some in the air and was immediately wrapped in a fog of seductive complexity. It was sweet but far from "girly", it was the scent of mystery and ambiguity...sophisticated and distinctive. I turned the bottle to view its name and realized, ironically, I had been...Poisoned. After the smoke weakened and lingered...I looked over to the passed out woman and looked back at the bottle. It was then when I knew, I had to save this perfume from the clutches of this unworthy bimbo. So it was then, where Poison became my potion. An untypical action of mine that I felt was a necessary evil. On my skin (then and to this day) the scent seems to repel females but attract males (or those who are Two Spirited)...which I certainly felt was an advantage. I wore it mainly for myself, because it made me feel really good and whenever I spritz it on I remember our dirty past together. It seduced me into doing something I was told not to do. But how could I resist? It was Eve... the apple... and the serpent.

The Shadow’s Silhouette: An Elegy for Dior Poison In the theater of the avant-garde, there are scents that whisper of gardens, and then there is Poison—a fragrance that breathes of the Eclipse. It is an Opalescent Surge of the forbidden, a bottled nocturnal ritual designed for the woman who finds her Radiant Dominance in the spaces between the stars and the soil. The Midnight Overture The first spray is a Nocturnal Infusion of bruised plums and wild, fermented berries—a dark, Manicured Lushness that feels like a velvet curtain falling over the world. It is the scent of a Gilded Incantation, sharp with coriander and a honeyed, intoxicating bitterness. It doesn’t merely linger; it establishes a Weightless Authority over the air, dissolving the Odoriferous Noise of the mundane to make way for a Legendary Entrance. The Heart: A Macabre Botanical At its core lies a Velveteen Symphony of Tuberose—the "Bone Flower" of perfumery—rendered here in a state of Crystalline Decay. It is a High-Couture Clarity born from the shadows, an ethereal floral that feels both ancient and dangerously modern. This is the Refined Epicenter of the composition: a mystical bloom that thrives in the cold light of the moon, offering a Sanctuary of Sophistication to those who dare to wear their power like a shroud of silk. The Base: The Infinite Nocturne The dry-down is a Molten Infusion of opopanax and dark resins, a lingering Aura of Distinction that haunts the skin like a whispered secret. It provides a Limitless Currency of mystery, a trail of smoke and amber that suggests the wearer is a Refined Architect of her own fate. It is the final, Gilded Masterpiece in a story of beautiful danger—a scent that proves the most Absolute Radiance is often found within the dark. Dior Poison. Fatal. Ethereal. Transcendent.

I agree, only buy well preserved vintage if you want to capture what Poison was and always intended to be. Recent formulations pale in comparison. Poison will always hold a sentimental place in my heart. Not least because it reminds me of Mum and memories of taking sneaky sprays from that mysterious, deep mauve bottle on her dresser. The scent was divine, powerful & captivating to my little girl senses. My nose stayed pressed to my arm where I sprayed it, whenever I snuck sprays of that gorgeous concoction. There was no hiding those sneaky sprays because the projection was crazy, which always left a guilty trail back to me, the young culprit, who’d snuck some more of Mum’s perfume, while she wasn’t looking. And boy did Poison last & cling to my skin, even after bathing with Lux soap & a flannel. I had never smelt anything so luscious and to this day, as a grown woman, there is nothing quite like it. Whether like me, you grew up around adults that wore these 80’s powerhouse scents before graduating to wearing Poison or her many flankers, yourself. Or even if you’re from a younger generation that finds her too gaudy & old-fashioned, if you have any appreciation for amazing perfume compositions, then you’ll know to put some respect on her name & hand her those flowers. She is simply iconic and a real masterclass in the art of timeless perfumery, at its height. She was ‘that bitch’ in her prime and beyond. The Baccarat Rouge’s and Glossier You’s of this world could Never... Btw, don’t come for my neck, but vintage Poison with a light spray of TF’s Black Orchid adds a touch of medicinal darkness & dimension. *chef’s kiss

This truly is a legendary and iconic perfume! Wether you love it or hate it, you should try it, at least once, in my humble opinion. This review is for the formulation from the 2010s, not the original 80s formulation. I truly wish I will get a hold of a vintage bottle one day. I got this as a birthday gift from my friends in highschool, I think I turned 17 or maybe 18. I was so drawn to the allure of this mystical, purple, dark and seductive poison, even if I had never smelled it when I put it on my wishlist. It truly was like no perfume I had ever experienced before; dark, mysterious, incensy, fruity and sweet. I liked it but I was also a bit intimidated and surprised by it. It really stands out next to the kind of perfumes most highschoolers wear nowadays. I really grew to like it but eventuelly stopped reaching for it. I think learning that it is so polarizing scared me a bit. Lately I have been revisting scents from the past and I put this on last night; beautiful dark plum, which I truly love in perfumes, sweet smokey incense and heady tuberose, just absolutley stunning to me! I kept sniffing my arm and slept like a baby. I had to put it on today again and my boyfriend says he really likes it as well, which makes me so happy because then I can wear it around the house guilt free. I saw a review about how this is both a going out scent and a cozying up at home scent, and I couldn't agree more. I see myself wearing Poison either in a black dress and heels, out in the night, or at home in autumn or winter, under a cosy blanket, snuggling with my boyfriend. I absolutly live it!

When I was seven years old, while nosing around as seven year olds often do, I happened upon my Aunt Grace's bottle of Poison parfum. I was just old enough to realize that it wasn't literal poison, but I was mystified no less. Around that time, US television premiered an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass produced by Iriwin Allen (yes, the same Irwin Allen of The Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno fame) with this all-star cast. I would imagine that I was the White Rabbit or the Mad Hatter and this small bottle of Poison reminded me of the "Drink Me" potion that would shrink Alice. It smelled magical to me. Nearly forty years later, Poison still smells like magic to me. I own some to wear in solitude to allow core memories to be unlocked. It always reminded me of the deepest, darkest purple berries: blackberries, blackcurrants, elderberries, all swirling with strange flowers (before I knew of the existence of tuberose!) in some cabalistic incense burned by a warlock in meditation. I remember my aunt also owned both the Time-Life Books "Mysteries of the Unknown" and "The Enchanted World" series: Visions and Prophecies, Hauntings, Mystic Places, Spells and Bindings, Witches and Wizards, Water Spirits. I also associate Poison with thumbing through these in awe. This classic will forever be spellbinding.

smoked plums and syrupy berries, coated with spice. a base of resinous amber. a gothic 80s gem for witchy women. i love a good churchy incense, but i’d argue this isn’t that. as with a lot of classic vintage compositions (although my decant is the current formulation) there is a lot going on here. i can detect a green tuberose, but the rest of the florals are harder to pin down. if i didn’t have a list of notes to reference, it would be hard for my untrained nose to pick this apart. this fragrance is strong, but i wouldn’t judge it before you allow it to dry down, i found the magic there. i was pleasantly surprised. the initial ‘cough syrup’-y blast dissipates within about 10 minutes and it becomes much more palatable as the honey announces itself and some of the smoke clears. i didn’t order a full bottle, just a 5ml sample. i think for me this is a fantastic moody and expressive scent. 5ml will last me some time. but there’s an addictive quality to the dry down that makes me appreciate why this could be a signature scent for many. my aunt (i haven’t seen her in years), a very independent, strong, and artistically talented woman, was the first person i thought of when i smelled this. i’ll have to call her and ask her what scent she wore because it makes me think of her.

Luckily i have no positive or negative asociations with this fragrance and the 80's and oversprayers and mean witches and so on. But it is however always nice to read the beautiful memories people have of it. Honestly I find it's name not very suitable. I don't get it. I just don't see this as a dark seductive fragrance. It smells deliciously jasmin and tuberose bubblegummy to me. A very happy and uplifing scent in my experience. When i first tried it 3 years ago i found exactly that camphory bright, bubblegummy tuberose to be a little dissapointing because i was looking for something warmer and richer, ambery and sweeter and darker, and hypnotic poison was fitting way better for that olfactive craving. But i've come to adore this gorgeous white and with spring approaching i find myself reaching for it and brighten me with it's sweet white floral deliciousness. Jummy! I learned that a camphory minty bubblegummy tuberose is of excellent quality. I do not get the pickle juice and brine, luckily. 😅 it's just gorgeous, heady, tuberose and jasmin floral bliss🤍 edit, and frankincense in the drydown gets more prominent. My favorite scent of the resins 🌞

I first smelled this as a teen in the 1980s. A woman I baby sat for was THE most sophisticated and sexy woman every (French with a leopard print antique couch and the most adorable children). She gave me a 5 ml mini of this and I still have it to this day. I’ve collected several flankers. My exhusband took the Poison Tendre EDT with him when he left. I still have and use Pure Poison. I had a bottle of the Poison EDT as a teen and it disappeared during my 20s. Probably nabbed by sticky fingers at a house party. In the early 2000s I tried it and hated the. reformulation. This year I bought a bottle of Poison EDP - that P is IMPORTANT. When I first put it on, that coriander note hit hard, but soon faded into what I remember Poison being like : dark, plum, spices, and mystery. I bought my new bottle in 2025 and have been loving it. I would just say wait for the coriander to dry off and get the eau de PERFUME. It makes a big difference here. She’s a beast and if you don’t have the character to wear her, don’t. It’s poison and you need to have that vixen in you to pull it off.

I did exactly what you're not meant to do with Poison and blind bought it, but with that first initial spray, I know I've smelt it before. In my thirty-five years, I've smelled this perfume on myriade women; it's been a vaguely familiar background scent of past and present British women. And my god, do they have excellent taste. Poison is the dark mirror of the mordern trends of syrupy sweet and freshies. It's a full punch of jasmine, incense, and musk. It's smells of old books and churches. There is a sweetness, but only just. Every so often, a peak of the berries will come through, but they are no where near the main event. It's unapologetically gothic. It's very much a winter perfume - I'm sure there are some women who can pull Poison off in the height of summer, but I shall not be joining them. But contrary to a lot of opinions, Poison I think can be worn by anyone of any age, but they need to be at peace that they are wearing the scent equivalent of Charlize Theron saying "Shoulders down, neck long, and then you just think: MURDER. And walk."

Me and Poison go way back, but I haven't smelled her in years. This was one of my very first perfumes, I received it for Christmas from my mum when I was 13. Something about a 13 year old wearing Poison (to school no less!) seems wild, but why wouldn't a weird, shy, dark-feeling tweenager want to smell like fruity, smoky, heady coca-cola?! 😆 This was in 2006 and emo's 3rd wave had fully swept me up. What a solace it was coming home, lighting a candle, putting on A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, and dousing myself with this. For obvious reasons it's quite painful to relive memories of your 13 year old self which is why I haven't smelled this in a while, but I'm ready now. I still feel like a weirdo, but I'm cool with that and you realise when you get older that there are so many more of us out there than you ever thought possible! I'm writing a vampire novel in which the protagonist wears Poison as her signature scent. When I finish my 1st draft, I'll treat myself to a bottle. Here's to all the 13 year olds who wear 80's powerhouses to school 💘

The allure of Poison Dior lies in its complex duality and a seductive symphony of sweet and dark accords that commands attention and exudes confidence. Its top notes of plum and berries greet with an intoxicating sweetness, layered with the bold heart of spicy cinnamon and tuberose, while a base of warm amber and opulent vanilla lingers like a haunting whisper. Truthfully, my first encounter with this perfume came during a period when my confidence had ebbed significantly. I needed something to symbolize my inner strength and resilience and a token of empowerment to help me reclaim my place in life. Poison Dior, with its femme fatale character, became that emblem for me. Its long-lasting longevity and strong sillage create an aura that turns heads and leaves an unforgettable trail, reinforcing its symbolism in my life. For these reasons, I love it deeply and will cherish it forever, as it embodies not just a scent but a transformation and a declaration of my refusal to yield and my return to unshakable strength. I’d rate it 7.7 out of 10.

EdC, Edt, Esprit de Parfum, Pure Parfum, Extrait de Parfum. Doesn't matter. I'm male and I have them all. Over 4,000ml of the various concentrations. Be jealous. They're all vintage and they're all mine because I bought them off eBay before you could. Sorry bout it. It's the fragrance to end all fragrances. I spray it on myself. I spray it on my girlfriend whether she wants it or not. "Too bad, babe" is what I say. She always comes around in the end. I spray it on my friends and they see the light. If they do not, I find new friends. I spray it on my cats and then I tell my girlfriend to smell my cats and guess what fragrance it is. If she doesn't immediately guess Poison then I find a new girlfriend (but I keep her on the side because she keeps coming back for my Poison). Poison is love, Poison is life. Thank you Christian. Thank you Edouard. You are Gods among men. I invite the rest of you to bathe in my warm bathtub of Poison with me. I will drink the bathwater and we will celebrate with a spritz or two of Poison afterwards. Join me.

I'm told this was my grandmothers favorite perfume. I never met her, she died when I was 3. I've only heard vague stories about her, my mothers impressions always included pretending to smoke a cigarette. It was the 1980's, she had a penchant for drinking and married men. I was told she had daddy issues. In our dining room her massive portrait hangs over us, a gift from an artist across the street who was desperately in love with her. Words can't do it justice but picture a blonde woman, bobbed haircut, sitting on a green armchair with her legs folded in front, eyes looking off to the left, back into the eyes of the portraitist. She has a teacup in her hand, she's tilting it just so, the coffee inside is almost spilling, almost but not quite, surface tension is holding it back. The background is sparse and largely unfinished. I bought a bottle just to know what she smelled like. I was taken aback by how strong the initial scent is, and how quickly it dries into a beautiful hum. Lasts all day. Its perfect.

I do not know what the original formulation smelled like but I loooooved the new one (granted I generally dislike strong scents and love incense, so maybe that's why I loved the weaker new formulation). At first spray I was unsure what to expect and was preparing myself for the worst, since sweet fragrances normally turn nauseating and pungent in the worst way on my skin. Not Poison. It is beautiful, it's addictive, I cannot stop thinking about it, I need a full bottle asap... It is not a safe blind buy, and should definitely be tested on skin, not on paper! And Poison is very much not an everyday office wear. But everyone should try it at least once in their lives. It's worth it. Update: I now own a full bottle and also I got my hands on a half full bottle of the original formulation, and true, it is stronger and has more depth to it. But I still think even the reformulated Poison is worth it. Especially because it's quite difficult to get the original formulation now.

I've had a bottle of those perfumes for almost 10 years and almost never wore them. I always appreciated the composition but I never felt in the mood for them, maybe because I usually prefer warm scents in winter and cooler scents in summer, but this is not a summer scent. But yesterday I got a migraine and a sudden craving for it (I know it might sound weird to migraine sufferers who are scent sensitive). I think it might be because it's winter and I've recently been reading a lot of sci-fi and looking at James Webb pictures. And Poison just smells so otherworldly. I used to think of them as of old (but elegant) lady perfumes, but there is also something very strange, dark and unnatural about them, similar to Mugler perfumes. Those are the kind of perfumes you just have to be in the mood for, because they are powerful, and not very subtle or natural at all, and they last forever. Maybe one day I will try to get a hold of the vintage version.

if poison has no ardent fanatic, i have been buried with my bottle in my hands a la the cover of twilight. like deep violet, velvet curtains steeped in church incense flung back to reveal a richly green and rain-soaked garden of indoles and crimson, (aptly) poisonous berries beneath a darkly overcast and sobbing sky. richly, opulently gothic and unapologetically, dauntlessly loud in ways that speak of bygone eras and long-dead bloodlines. poison speaks of salacious things in soft tones, gently dismantling institutions and conventions with enough delicacy to soothe a newborn to sleep (and a silage that, to me, is just as delicate, though very tenaciously long-lasting). it is almost narcotic in its juxtaposing fragility and addictiveness. just like a drug, one who has had experience with it will lean in deep into its neck just to get a taste again. menacing and fatal. rapture found inside a chapel - bite into the poison apple! <3

In a previous review i said i couldn't see this as a dark fragrance, but more of a bright tuberose bomb. A great white floral. Well something has shifted. Truth is i still don't see this as a 'dark' fragrance. Black orchid is something i would call dark. But i do feel it's syrupy spiced notes much more. Well perhaps bc its 30•c outside. But it is sooo addictive in this summery warmth, So utterly delicious. I can totally imagine this on a warm to hot autumn evening, it would be glorious. 🍁💮🍁 I do get how polarizing this is. I can see how this spicy aspect mainly steered by the coriander and incense later joined by anise and opponax can be ofputting and unwanted by people who catch a whiff of this potion. Yes the air of mystery is unmistakable.. I currently love wearing this at home where i can bathe and bask in it's mysterious and sensual aura, preferably in warm weather.

I cannot believe I haven't written a review for this yet. Vintage: The old formula is indolic, ambery and stunning, worth the money if you can find it. I was able to snag a sample of one and it was delicious, I couldn't stop smelling myself. Absolutely gorgeous despite the sample being from the late 80s, the top notes were perfectly intact, the Plum lingered till the bottom notes. The florals are perfectly heady wothout giving me a headache. Very Ambery but not in a Incense or herbal kind of amber but very creamy and warm. Sad they changed it New formula: As many have pointed out, it smells of pickle juice and I unfortunately have to agree, the top notes somehow create a brine stink on skin and on paper. Where the old formula was rich, this is lean. It gives nothing that the old formula did. It dries down into something a bit more wearable but nonetheless disappointing.

Explosive; smells like it’s been trying to get out of the bottle and you’ve finally given it the opportunity. There are flowers and fruits strewn everywhere for a while, before things pull back a bit to a looming, juicy core. I wasn’t around anyone who wore this in the 80s, much to my regret; the current version stands on its own two feet as a great perfume. Its simple extravagance means this is truly unisex; it’s so overwhelming and emboldening that I would cheerily face down anyone who questioned my right to wear both this and y-fronts. This seems to exist in the public imagination as a dark, evening perfume; however, having spent a cheery summer knocking around the south of France relying primarily on duty-free Poison and swimming pools for personal hygiene, I’d suggest that, in the right circumstances, it blossoms into a beautiful, sunny garden.

Beautiful, dark, boozy plum and fruits with spices. Excellent fragrance, would never be dated - it only needs the right occasion and the perfect dosage to shine. Both a Femme fatale fragrance - a fragrance for those nights with the little black dress, heels, red or burgundy lipstick and Frank sinatra. Or for the nights when you cozy up in front of the fireplace with either gløgg (mulled wine?) or red wine. This does not share the "generic designer DNA" as so many of the modern popular designer fragrances have, so you may need some time to get to know this perfume if those type of fragrances are all you are sadly familiar with. This fragrance could be the perfect one to "venture out" with, if you'd like a dark, strong fruity fragrance for the coldest weather. A feminine fragrance on a woman, but would like to experience this on a man as well.

What a captivating fall classic! This is a vintage formulation, probably from the early 90s, although the batch code is long worn off! I never wore this back in the day, although I had many friends that did! It is an absolute icon of 1980s perfumery! Stiff big hair and heavy makeup paired with this perfectly! However, it is timeless! This can be worn today with a single light spray you just let graze you before leaving and it wears beautifully! It’s such a sexy fragrance, about the sexiest I’ve ever smelled! It screams velvety opulence and rich jewel tones, over ripe dark fruits in moody dimly lit rooms! It encapsulates the excesses of the era! Glamour in every last drop! The initial spray is bombastic, the true beauty lies in the dry down! This is a sexy fall night out scent! Just remember, less is more by today’s standards!

As someone who has really only ever played it safe with fragrance, this one surprised me. At first I was unpleasantly taken aback by the smoke, which smelled stale to me. But then it quickly deepened and morphed into something dark and utterly divine. I'm walking in a deep forest after a heavy rain, the clouds still dark and wild. I trod on fallen plums and berries, releasing their honey-sweet scent. I come upon an old stone cathedral, overtaken by moss but still smelling of recently burned incense. This is seriously beautiful and I can't imagine how incredible the 1985 formulation must have been. My husband, on the other hand, says it smells like every woman in the mall when his mum would drag him out for hours of shopping in the 90s lmao! He said he thinks he likes it but he also thinks it's very frumpy.

I recently obtained a true-to-the-original recreation of this wonderful fragrance. I know it's spot-on because the second I smelled it, I was taken back to my childhood in the 80s. I didn't wear Poison back then because I was too young, but I remember the women who wore it. They were sophisticated and seemed sure of themselves. This fragrance isn't for the faint of heart, the timid, or those with sensitive noses. It's a perfume for grown women and for brave girls. It's a powerhouse. And oh my God it is beautiful. It smells like delicious dark fruits, warm spices, and a hint of smoke. A little bit goes a long way. The newer versions are something of a travesty, imo. They really should be renamed entirely because they do not do this gorgeous perfume any justice.

A cool start gradually gives way to warmer accords. This is my favorite and highest quality product in the Poison series. It's the best quality of the Poisons, but I can't say anything about the reformulated version. Its use should be limited in enclosed spaces; it doesn't require much reapplication during the day. Since it's an EDT formulation, it has high spreadability on my skin, and I can't say anything about its longevity. I prefer products with a lasting effect that penetrates deep into my soul, and I'd say this one is average. The cool start, with the scent of dew-covered blue-purple fruits, is wonderful. I think the first half hour is what makes it unique. I immediately bought a bottle and will definitely buy it again and again🤯😍

Wearing this. the opening is slightly uncomfortable. Well, the whole thing is *slightly* uncomfortable, but I really do come around to enjoying this fragrance once the diaper cream smell eventually goes away. Then I get the soda, and incense. It's like if you draped a doily from a witches altar over an open can of fizzy fruity cream soda. I really smell the fizz.. There's also a candy/grape note that at times i’d catch a whiff of and it would remind me of Love Don’t be Shy. That being said, Poison is NOTHING like a modern day sexy “hot girl” perfume. Maybe a “perverted 1,000 year old girl” perfume. She’s hot, but there’s something off about her, she's Isabella Rossellini in Death Becomes Her- secretly, a rotting corpse.

The original bought for me in the 80's was so strong i sprayed the air once and walked through. no more. so many compliments, men coming up to ask it's name to buy for their wives. The funny looks on their faces when I said "Poison". long since used up, and a newer bottle 2005? did not smell quite the same. does not have the same smooth heady, hot, swirling-smoke richness. it's sharper, and tends to overwhelm, and not in a good way, as the original did. The original layered with a vanilla roller oil perfume, was, as they say- a man slayer. I personally feel that it was the heliotrope in this that took it over the top and made it's fame. Next time you're in a greenhouse, smell the heliotrope.

got myself a 10ml decant. reminds me a cathedral that just finished officiating a wedding. the bride is crying and she's sweating beads. an argument as soon as the veil is lifted and she realizes this was a mistake. she runs and this is the scent trail that she leaves. the plum and the berries immediately wrap its arms around your shoulder and the tuberose kiss on your cheek. she's intoxicated and she's hell bent on getting what she wants. lasts all day long and dresses down into something cozy, intimate. like the morning-after, the sun is bleeding through the curtains and it hits her face just right. you watch her breathe. ins and outs. but you know she'll have to leave.

You meet a girl at a bar. Depeche Mode is playing. She orders a glass of merlot and brings it to your lips. The glint in her eye equal parts scares and excites you. Predatory. The Serpent tempting Eve tempting Adam. Ever since I got into fragrance this has been The One. I didn’t want to buy it right away- I needed to develop my nose and research more. I found a 90s splash bottle for a steal and as soon as I smelled it I knew I was right. This is everything I’ve ever wanted in a perfume. It’s blended so beautifully. The plum is juicy, the base is spicy and dark, but it’s still light enough that I feel fine wearing this on a southern summer day.

Surely, I can be embalmed with this when I die. I’m not even kidding. :) This was the second perfume I ever fell in love with! It was a bottle purchased from Wal-Mart in 2006. I sprayed it in my car and regret not having the windows rolled down. My Taurus smelled like Dior Poison until 2014 when I sold it. This is the most delicious grapey incensed tuberose perfume there is. The vintage is the way to go, but the modern formula is still pretty! It’s gotten quite powdery as the years go by (formulation-wise), but it still possesses the same beautiful drydown. I buy a vintage bottle every year. This is my favorite perfume of all time!

I have a vintage bottle and at this time of the year my brain is screaming after tuberose. I wore Poison with a heavy hand as a teenager back in the eighties, now I know that less is more. The wonderful thing about Poison is that it really changes character. Some days its a pure incense, others creamy tuberose all the way. It is very potent, and I don’t dare wearing it outside my home quite yet. But I wear it to bed and enjoy it still in the morning. Not a bit dated, still a genius scent. A must have for any collector. Things that were considered sweet in the eighties are far less that compared to their nowadays sisters.

Hello fragrance fam! The vintage formulation of Poison is prized for its resinous and syrupy scent profile. If you want an easy trick for finding a full bodied vintage bottle, pre-2004 editions will have "Christian Dior" typed on the front of the bottle while versions made after 2004 will just have "Dior". If your a fan of floriental scents like Poison, try LouLou by Cacharel for a similar experience but more powdery and vanillic. * USA, visit our web store VintageDecants If you'd like to sample this fragrance in it's vintage formulation, along with hundreds of other discontinued and rare fragrances to choose from.

I was very lucky to find this original version at an estate sale. Still smells amazing which is typical in Colorado homes which never get oppressively hot and never humid. I love that it is so unique and one of a kind unlike so many perfumes today which all smell so much the same- particularly the gourmands. Very jammy fruity incense infused plum. Definitely STRONG at first but mellows out after about an hour. But here’s where Poison is amazing— as a layering fragrance. Particularly enchanting with Mugler Alien and Versace Dark Crystal for night time cold weather. Dare say these combos are spell casting.

Oh my god, based on everything I had heard and knowing when this debuted, I was expecting something so harsh and overly floral, but I obviously knew nothing of the actual fragrance. I am obsessed, this is beautiful, I love it. It has such a dark, sexy fruity vibe to it. I love going to goth clubs and this will definitely be on my list of appropriate fragrances to wear for the occasion. I mostly get the plum and berry notes off top, but there’s something darker underneath, a mixture of honey and incense I believe, that have my eyes rolling back into my head. Good god I am utterly obsessed with this.

I bought Poison blindly, without knowing anything about its scent. The moment I smelled it, I was completely enchanted. It has such a unique, signature fragrance strangely vintage, as if it's not from this era at all. When I wear it, it feels like I'm being transported to another universe. In short, it gives off the vibe of a witch flying on a broomstick through a swamp on a rainy night/dark, mystical, and powerfully atmospheric. This is definitely not a perfume for ordinary people. It's bold and strong, but perfect for confident, dark, mysterious souls who love to make a statement.

In the lactonic-gourmand era, THIS is a real Diva! So complex and si unique. Mature and exquisite. No milk, no rice, no steam, no metallic, no caramel, no burnt sugar. The fruit aspect does not add an eadible aspect, but rather depth and juiciness. It's a White. A Great White. And I do hope it will stay on the market. Cuz I fed up with all the mainstream niche available out there. Bianco Latte, Guidance, whatever BDK hype... They all look sad compared to Poison. Needless to say how amazing the green bottle looks like. Bonus: it doesn't matter if is the new version. Just as amazing!

This is stunning. Mysterious, goth, witchy and sexy in a vintage and very dark way. I can't get enough of it and I never run out of it either. Honestly, it might just be my all-time favourite. Designer, niche... whatever. Nothing else quite compares. I get it, it's not for everyone's taste so try it before you buy it as it's particular and it takes a particular vibe to wear it but I do get tons of compliments with it. Lasts forever, strong, powerful, people will smell you from a mile off, especially if you can get the OG formula from the 80s. Loud and unapologetic, as it should.

this is the craziest perfume i've bought in a while. i cannot for the life of me believe people used to just wear this and that was normal? i'm truly infected, i simply can't get enough of it. one spray to bed every night and ive been sleeping like a baby like it knocks me out... maybe there is something to the name.... it's very unsexy and has an air of, dare i say... pedophilia about it... you kind of need to get over that before surrendering. it's like grape candy, like a vitamin gummy kinda but mixed with sensual tuberose so it all gets very confusing...

The love of my life. And there will be no other. Dark, seductive, brooding. Poison is not for the faint of heart, or the well-adjusted to society. It is profoundly gothic and a tad theatrical. Do not expect people to understand it. I doubt most can even tolerate it in the first place. The scent opens with a blast of plum and wild berries, accompanied by church incense, carnation and spice. Wearing it feels like sipping wine with vampires in the Carpathians, dressed in black velvet and lace. You will pry this beauty from my cold, dead hands.

  • em inglês

A dark, incense-laced, fruity scent of this plum, which isn't a gourmand, but rather a dried, smoky plum. Sublime, nocturnal, mysterious. One drop and it can sweep the entire neighborhood away. You need to be very careful with the quantity, otherwise it's... literally poison. Perfection defines it! An intoxicating scent. I love it so much. This perfume was definitely made for women who like striking. It has a monstrous, frightening longevity, and it exudes beauty. A perfume made to seduce, to wear at night, with heels and lots of makeup.

Plum. You must enjoy plum to enjoy this. She is a classic, classy woman in a little black dress. The Little Black Dress category includes CK's Deep Euphoria, Gaultier's La Belle, Chanel No. 5, and Very Good Girl. Poison is an elegant goth in lace and kitten heels, or a gorgeous woman with her hair down, smiling at you from across the room at an autumn cocktail party; take your pick. She's not mysterious, but you want to be in her company. It's deep, and sultry, and lingers with you like a kiss on the cheek with a plum colored lipstick.

My mom got the bottle she gifted to me now in new york, around 2003. Still smells amazing all these years later. My mom always told me she'd let me have the full bottle the night before my first dinner date, safe to say the guy was impressed by how I smelled. It's a lot more white floral-ey than people make it out to be, but the fruit is so overpowering at first, some people don't let the richness come from the dry down lol.. xD, she's sultry, but nothing sexier than a slit in the dress, she knows restraint. 9/10

Smokey, spicy yum yum! I have a 1992 bottle I found on Etsy and I am so glad I went with the older formulation, this little nymph in a bottle is the absolute bomb. The original flat bottle sits in your hand, ergonomic, fit for purpose. Not the sort of poison which hides in a ring or a pendant around the neck, 'Poison' is bold in its conviction. Like a maleficent Djin, rising from the bottle after centuries below the sea, bent on bittersweet revenge. Better to surrender to the 'Poison' than to fight it.

I remember giving this to my grandma as a student, and immediately regretting it! I remember she was a bit disappointed as she opened it, but when I sniffed it, it was very seductive, strong, and intoxicating. It was not something she would appreciate, as I would! Maybe I couldn't pull it off if I tried, but she certainly didn't have anywhere to go wearing that beast. I thought of it many times, but I never bought it for myself. What have I been waiting for? Not waiting to become a granny, for sure!

Nota 1000 / 10 !

I bought this perfume today i tried sample at first on paper and on my skin, the smell was very different on paper and skin, i wouldnt buy it if i havent sprayed it on my skin, on paper it smells sharp, rigid and smoky but on skin it turned to a warm white flower and vanilla smell, not too bold but well rounded with spices, i think it is very feminine and sexy, bottle design is beautiful, with deep purple color feels like a love elixir is in it, sensual and lustful.
