Do nosso caderno

Dior Pure Poison is a timeless floral fragrance which emerges as a luminous, ethereal potion that captivates the mind and soul with its delicate balance of freshness and sensuality. Everyone is familiar with the famous Poison fragrance and it's successors like Hypnotic Poison or Poison Girl. But among these bold and glamorous counterparts, Pure Poison crafted by master perfumers Carlos Benaïm, Dominique Ropion, and Olivier Polge back in 2004, is a floral masterpiece which is the perfect example of a scent that dances between sunlit innocence and moonlit mystery. The fragrance opens with a refreshing and radiant burst of citrusy notes. The jasmine is the star of the composition, it weaves its narcotic thread from the opening till the end. But please note this is not the heady, indolic jasmine of midnight gardens, but a innocent, refined, airy and almost translucent realistic jasmine. The blending with orange blossom and gardenia creates a crisp, clean, and kind of soapy vibe. Together, they create a bouquet that feels both nostalgic and modern! Like a whisper of vintage glamour softened by a contemporary clarity. The clean soapy freshness here evokes the sensation of clean warm skin after the shower. To me this is the quality that makes Pure Poison feel effortlessly elegant, as if it is a natural aura of the wearer’s own radiance. The base notes of sandalwood, cedar, white amber, and white musk adds the extra sophistication and sensuality to the fragrance. The white musk feels like bare skin kissed by sunlit linen and adds a certain intimacy to the scent profile. Pure Poison is a scent perfect for all seasons. It's a fragrance worthy to be a signature scent. Because of it's citrusy brightness and clean florals it can be a summer staple—perfect for sun-drenched days and humid evenings. It can easily be worn during cold winter days too as it gives the vibe of soft cashmere wrap in the drydown. It is a versatile fragrance which has the ability to adapt in any weather, any situation and any occasion. It's crisp enough for office wear, yet sophisticated enough for evening allure. In fact, this was my own wedding fragrance during the hot and humid evenings of summer. At the same time Pure Poison feels innocent yet seductive - justifying it's name Pure Poison! Even after almost two decades since its launch, Pure Poison remains an icon. It's like the quieter, innocent, sophisticated sibling of her bold and powerful sisters. It's like a constant reminder that true seduction often lies in what is left unspoken! In a world of changing trends, where you'll notice everyday many new fragrances are being released, getting hyped and fleeting away from the memory quickly and quietly, Dior’s Pure Poison endures as a testament to timeless elegance. It's a true masterpiece and a must have for white floral lovers as well as white musk lovers. The fragrance leaves a scent trail that is both comforting and subtly seductive. Longevity is around 6+ hours with moderate projection. But it stays faintly on the skin or clothes so whenever someone will hug you they'll notice your fragrance. So, spray this and let it become your invisible jewel: a secret whispered in sunlight, lingering long after the day fades!

If Nicole Dollanganger was a perfume. My first encounter with this perfume was in a Russian shopping mall, in a major city other than Moscow. You can imagine, the idea of luxury was there, but the lack of vitality permeated everything, especially in the unbearable heat of Summer. At that time, I had been thrown further into my isolation, and my social facade had come to reflect that; I felt I had been divorced from society, and that the malaise was incurable. I coped with deep delusions of my romanticised loneliness. I was sleeping more than twelve hours a day. My favourite colours were grey and baby pink. I was barely alive. I still barely am, and I like to return to that state of mind when dissociation is the fine line I walk so as not to panic at the feeling of my own body. When I first learned of real angels, I wanted to be genderless like them. Faceless, and composed only of eyes, and feathers, but no occipital lobe. I did not want to comprehend what I saw around me. I wouldn't have a need to, if I wasn't of this world. To me, this perfume is exactly that. The fragrance was so delicate, even whilst well macerated (from the difference I smelled in a fresh batch, I assume 1-2 years). The hairspray reminded me of fine spider silk, and gave my mind respite through the noise, and something to focus on. It reminded me of dense little baby hairs, and how virgin hair is always softest. Baby hairs, and the fine silk of cobwebs and lace. It would have been girly had it not left such a detached impression, that demanded transcendance of social constructs such as gender; I remember reading a review that said it smelt like angel skin, and I couldn't agree. I wanted to be a faceless, genderless, angel clean of the world, and my personality void. I wanted to be purely axiomatic, and find contentment in a place assigned to me. I had no desires, and I needed order to function. I took that on well. The scent left me feeling like I had finally found my distance against all the overwhelming mess and noise of life's droning mundanity, the ugliness of pus and disease, and the rot so obviously encroaching, permeating me, and leaving me awfully mortal, fragile, and vulnerable, like a blistering wound to the sun. Its camphor scent reminded me of powdery old rooms, covered in dust but not unclean, in my grandmother's house, who was always close to the angels. She was always covered in lace and powder, and I think of her benefic nature as somewhat indescribable, because mundane words only serve to chain when they are insufficient to shape and articulate. So I agree, this perfume is like angel skin. It's clean, almost caustic like proper soap in its cleanliness. It alludes to nothing human. If you want to transcend your own body, and the ephemerality of all, this is the one. It bestows nothing human upon the wearer, but human concepts of beauty are alluded to through its cosmetic scent. It's all one simple, neutral front anyone could ever wish to put forth. It's only unfortunate that the sillage is weak. I so desperately wished to immerse myself, and hide in it, and let the perfume do the talking for me.

When I owned this I had a love and hate thing with it. For the most part the word screechy came to mind when I’d wear it. It’s STRONG and it has a mixture of things I like and don’t like. It reminds me of a strong “ocean breeze” laundry detergent that I can’t stand along with Cool Water for men and a lot of jasmine flowers. I don’t know why I barely notice the citrus maybe a little of the bergamot and something salty, something synthetic and something 80’s “hairsprayish” but I do still enjoy the jasmine in it and it is a lovely perfume for the right person. It’s just that for me, this was one of those “I love the notes but they don’t mix well with me” kind of situations. Lately I find myself wanting to smell it again though. Make it make sense... Edit on 11/29/25: Low and behold... I ended up getting this again because I kept thinking about it. There’s just something about it that I must love and appreciate more now. It still reminds me of ocean breeze, a jasmine ocean breeze. A salty, jasminey (slightly grapey jasmine) pungent ocean mist with bergamot riding along and definite sandalwood and I think the sandalwood mixed with the citrus is what reminded me of detergent at some point previously. Oddly enough, I understand this perfume a little more now. Enough to have made me purchase it once again and give it a chance. I’m actually enjoying it more. I would try smelling it before buying though. I don’t consider it a safe blind buy. Still a heavy white floral that might throw some ppl off but I personally don’t care because I wear it for me. Some might say it leans feminine but I say it’s “almost” unisex thanks to that green/fresh touch along with the citrus and sandalwood.

I was meeting my mother for our usual mother/son lunch at one of her overbearingly hoity toity establishments, and as we performed our version of a hug (a maneuver requiring the illusion of affection while maintaining a two inch barrier of personal space), her eyes lit up. That's usually the prelude to a comment about how I look tired and need better eye cream. But instead, "Oh my, that's nice! It smells like nothing else you wear. It smells very...classy." Thanks, old woman. Anyway, she wasn't wrong. Pure Poison is, against all odds, the exact scent of having your s*** together. It's one of the classiest perfumes you can buy. It's a gorgeous waterfall of white florals. But the jasmine, gardenia, and orange blossom are completely scrubbed clean. Clean, as in surgically clean. It's very standoffish, but somehow still very delicate and wearable. It's perfectly soft and just so elegant. It opens with icy citrus and dries down into a creamy sandalwood. If a perfume were a cashmere sweater, this'd be the one. And the projection is downright perfection. It doesn’t scream for attention like some desperate club hopping fragrance (See: Scandal, Juicy Couture, etc). It has just enough sillage to leave an impression without suffocating the people around you and radiates a sort of unbothered superiority. Perfect for occasions like job interviews, first dates, weddings or putting your passive aggressive mother in a home. I need to be baptized in this stuff.

I got this last night. It took me five minutes to decide I wanted this. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a smaller size in this perfume for me to test if I really wanted this, but I did not need a smaller size. I can’t come up with a whole story or character for this one because it is a very plain and inoffensive fragrance. If you know what the Trader Joe’s hand cream smells like — the one that comes in a paint-like tube — it smells just like that. Which is perfect because I’ve been looking for something that smells like that. There isn’t a particular note that sticks out too much; if you look at the pyramid while smelling this, you can pinpoint which notes there are. But without that, it smells... generally just good. Like, when you walk into Ulta and there’s just that nice smell. I definitely get a jasmine note, but one that’s more creamy than floral. It’s not overwhelming. I do get compliments on this one. I just with they’d sell it in different sizes so I can bring it everywhere with me. Pretty good longevity, lasts about 5 or so hours on me, but people can’t really smell it after that long. Only I can smell it. The sillage is pretty moderate, you’d need someone to be standing within 5 feet of you to smell it. Perfect for all seasons and any time of day.

Bear in mind, i'm talking about the modern Pure Poison. I've had the perfume, but quickly sold it as it was an unbearable stench. Not just on my skin, the fragrance in general smelled like a Lilly Of The Valley toilet refreshener. Just dreadful. It really is, and it lacked the poison DNA. Not that it matters much all that much to me, in this instance at least, but it also has no lasting power at all, zero projection, tragic. I can't understand why many love this scent. Its just not good. It lacks quality, it lacks personality and it lacks pleasantness. I love the poison family, but this Pure Poison is not it for me. Edit: Alright i gave in and bought a vintage Pure Poison. And i must say, it is nearly nothing like the modern Pure Poison reformulation. The reformulation i didn't like much as it vividly reminded me of Noa from Cacharel. But with this older Pure Poison, i finally understand why people found it to be a mix of Midnight Poison and Tendre Poison. It really is just that. Its not my favorite poison still, but it is dear to me, at last. The reformulation was a ghost; the vintage still carries the soul of Poison.

There are perfumes that belong to the light, and there are perfumes that were born in the shadows. Imagine the witch who wears Hypnotic Poison. She has wandered for years through lands as dark as Mordor, carrying the weight of every spell she has ever cast. One day, she meets an elf. The elf says nothing. She simply places a bottle of Pure Poison into the witch's hands. The moment she sprays it, something changes. The darkness doesn't disappear, but it becomes quieter. The sharp edges soften. For the first time in years, she feels clear, peaceful, almost innocent. As if she could stand beneath the stars without hiding from their light. If you're wondering who would wear this perfume, it's definitely Arwen from The Lord of the Rings. The white florals feel luminous rather than loud. Jasmine and orange blossom blend into something incredibly clean, elegant, and serene. It doesn't try to seduce you. It simply reminds you what purity feels like. Some fragrances transform your appearance. Pure Poison transforms your soul, if only for a little while.

I’ve wanted this for a while because I love a clean, white floral scent. These are the types of that I reach for when I want to feel put together and girly. As soon as I sprayed it, my first thought was “I’ve smelled this before”. I was taking my brain until I realized that it was one of the popular fragrances back when I was working at the fragrance department. Took me right back to 2006. With that being said, it’s a softer, floral scent that’s clean and reminiscent of clean laundry. I love this type of scent profile so this is right up my alley. As the day wore on, I had another thought pop up. I thought, this smells very similar to JLo Glow. I ended up spraying JLo Glow as my after shower scent and yes, they are in same family. Pure Poison is much smoother and the florals are more well blended. It’s also softer. Glow is a bit more screechy and rough in the beginning. But they dry down pretty similar with Glow having more orange blossom. Since I love this scent profile, I’m good wth having them both. Plus the Pure Poison bottle is adorable!

This smells like your older sister's bedroom on a Friday night circa 1989. She's getting ready to go out with her boyfriend and friends, who barely notice you whenever they're around. The smell of pheromones, panstick, hairspray, lipstick and mascara are diffused by the crackling heat of the still-hot hairdryer which is thrown on her bed. Her backpack from school earlier is half opened on the floor, and you notice the plastic lid of her Charlie body spray poking out of her leather pencil case. Whitney Houston's 'How Will I Know' is playing on the radio and your sister is dancing as she lines her lips. The energy is intoxicating. You know she's transitioning into a world that's waiting for you, too. But for now you have to wait and wonder. You go back to your room to do your homework but, you can't concentrate because the scent trail your sister leaves in the hallway as she slips into the night fills your mind with images of energetic womanhood, painted nails and scented skin on skin, glistening in the night.

I came across this in 2008, when I bought my first bottle. My first and always reaction to this perfume: ✨ I wanted to rip off my clothes and swing from the chandelier 🤤 ✨I have been through 2 bottles, both were made when they were made right. And...the elixer, that was a disaster, made wrong and those sweet little pump sprayers cause the alcohol to disappear like a ghost. ✨At the time I owned this I also had Jesus Del Pozo In White , in my opinion that was better because it lasted and projected even better. I sadly gave it away, in a frightful moment of decluttering....why have 2 of the same scents? 🤦🏼 Never again shall I be so dumb. ✨Keiko Mecheri ISLES LOINTAINES, a bit weak but lovely.... ✨I saw Bujairami has a dupe which seems to be no where to be found and Fragrance World, which seems questionable. If you are reading this Mr Alhambra, 🙏🏻 please , please make us a proper dupe 🙌🏼 ✨Who of you know of any great dupes of this? Please message me 🙏🏼 ✨My favorite perfume ever 1000000000/10

I just got my hands on a vintage original formula (white cap) bottle and now I want to cry. I had forgotten how perfectly gorgeous this fragrance is, and when I smelled the reformulation for the first time at Sephora recently, it was not the same. I got a little sample just to make sure I couldn't learn to love it, but it's harsh, screechy, synthetic, and somehow gives me toilet vibes, like a cheap air freshener or something. :( I finally had to scrub it off, I couldn't stand it. The original one I just got has slightly turned, which I was expecting since it's 15-20 years old, but enough of what I remember remains to haunt me. It's feminine, soft, soapy, and creamy. It's the creaminess that makes the soapiness lovely and not harsh/cold/screechy, because it softens it. I am so saddened that another of my favorites from long-ago has been destroyed by a reformulation. Wish I had bought back ups and will be on the hunt for a dupe.

Pure Poison is classy and timeless. My mom can pull this off, I can pull this off (I'm 24) and my 92 year old neighbour can pull it off. It's a floral with some mild fruitiness to it. It also has a certain "wetness" or "creaminess" to it which I really love. Can be worn year round, the scent get's beautifully amped up in summer heat but also smells amazing in colder weather. This perfume is so unique to me, it's one of my absolute favorites and nothing compares to it. To me this is the best fragrance Dior ever made. I get complimented a lot when wearing it, so it's certainly a crowdpleaser, but certainly is unique. No one ever told me "ugggh, is that Pure Poison you're wearing?" It's mysteriously-smelling, I love it. I mainly detect creamy gardenia, some jasmine and orange blossom but those two are more shy to my nose and nicely balanced. I detect no wood, to me it's not a woody perfume.

For years, I had omitted this version of Poison—until now. Poison and Hypnotic Poison have long reigned as my most cherished perfumes, those twin phantoms of scent, so why not invite another into the fold? What harm could it do? By evening on that languid summer day, after testing Pure Poison, I knew—with a quiet, inevitable certainty—that it must be mine. There is something carnally floral about it, those white petals not so much blooming as breathing, lush and almost indecent. Like all the Poisons, it carries that faint, narcotic whiff of plastic—a sly, synthetic shimmer—and beneath it, something darker, coiled and waiting. The way Pure Poison unfolds reminds me of my mother’s face cream, cool and opalescent in the blue hour of a summer twilight. She is wearing her silk pajamas, and through the open window, a breeze lifts the bedroom curtain like a slow, surrendering sigh.

To me this fragrance has this ageless timeless quality that is rare to find. Of course everyone should wear whatever they like without boundaries, but I feel like this scent would be at home on a young woman in her 20s as well as in her 90s and all between! It also feels like it could have come out today as well as 60 years ago because it’s classically beautiful and feminine but not challenging. The notes bring a picture in my mind of a beautiful women in a sundress unclipping linen that has died in sun. Her long hair is flowing in the wind mixing with the scent of the orange blossoms from the tree that the laundry line is tied to. Clean laundry, clean musk, sweet white florals! I find this fragrance incredibly feminine and beautiful. I wear this most in the spring but it truly can be worn any season. This is in my top 5 fragrances for life and my very favorite floral.

pure poison is an uncanny dizziness where innocence and sin, ice and fire, try to suffocate each other within the very same bottle. this fragrance is not just clean, it is a cold spell that hypnotizes people and drags them in your wake. the moment it touches your skin, snow-white jasmines drenched in dew and venomous orange blossoms besiege your soul. at first, it deceives you like a very innocent, very pure soap scent; but as it settles, that veil of cleanliness is ripped away. the creamy gardenia and the skin-burning musk rising from beneath awaken with such force that you leave everyone around you breathless. time stops the moment you walk into a room, and when you leave, the whisper of an unfinished vengeance lingers behind. this perfume lives on your skin like an aphrodiziac elixir stolen from heaven but forged in the fires of hell.

My husband decided to go out on a limb and buy me a bottle of this for Christmas last year. He's not usually the type to buy something so personal without taking me with him and I could tell when I unwrapped it he was very nervous about my reaction. I wasn't wearing any perfume that morning so I indulged him and sprayed a little on. He didn't say anything just smiled and as the day went on and we had a house full of family, he would come over now and them touch my back or kiss my cheek. I received a number of compliments and was quite pleased, it was usually after giving a hug to someone that they would say how nice my perfume was. At the end of the evening and everyone had gone home, my honey turned to me, gathered me in his arms and said, "Your beautiful and your perfume is driving me crazy!"....enough said, onto bottle number 2!!

So nice to revisit and share my thoughts on Pure Poison. My bottle is a very old vintage with a white cap. The jasmine is heady and clean, gardenia slightly peppery, and the sandalwood and cedar are silky. This is clean (not soapy) and elegant, yet I see why it is polarizing. There is an uninviting coolness about it, in the vein of Alien maybe. Not the scent profile but the mood. Is sterile the right word? Regardless, I love it. I feel unapologetic when I wear it. The neurotic “by-any-means” perfectionist hidden behind a warm smile. That’s what this is. Suitable for any time of year, day or night. This is an always prepared scent. One spray of the vintage formula lasts all day, three sprays will fill a room. I am not sure about the performance of the current formulation however.

This perfume really 'wowed' me, despite the fact that on paper it's a pretty standard white floral perfume. I tested it at the shop and couldn't stop smelling my wrist for the rest of the day, it's such a timeless and classy but simple scent. It really is just like walking through a trove of gardenias on a clear spring day. I am intrigued as to why it's in the 'Poison' family, being such a bright, breezy sort of smell - anyone who blind buys should be aware it is not at all like other Poisons. I can't really smell too much citrus, but perhaps those notes serve to counteract the jasmine which in other scents can be overpowering. Even as somebody who normally doesn't go for white florals, I adore this. Just such a clean and soft scent without being weak or forgettable.

I steal this from my mom sometimes as a dude😭, I’m contemplating buying a full bottle just for myself in the house. Yes it’s a feminine fragrance but I feel it isn’t just a straight up feminine scent. It’s such a soft delicate smell idk how to put it into words other than it brings my mood up. Any girl searching for a signature scent should literally look no further.. I’d imagine you’ll be getting asked left, right and centre what perfume you’re wearing. And personally If I had a girl this would be the scent I’d push for her to always wear. I’d want my girl to smell JUST like this. EDIT/UPDATE: I pulled the trigger and ordered a full bottle for myself as a 24 year old DUDE cause I NEED THIS. Idc if it’s marketed towards women, I’m going to wear it cause idgaf.

Feminine, a bit mysterious and classy. Beautifully blended white floral masterpiece. Pure Poison forms a special bond with the wearer, a magical and unique one. But there is also something more... ...it’s a bit distanced and strongly melancholic fragrance. I always imagined the Snow Queen wearing it. She would sit alone in her palace, lost in her thoughts, nostalgic. She seems to be at peace, but at the same time, I can’t deny that there is a sadness aura around her. And yet - for me it is great and that’s another thing that makes Pure Poison unique. It tells intimate history, brings out emotions, memories (be it good or bad), and strong nostalgia... Well, I’m a huge Lana Del Ray fan, so sad and melancholic definitely doesn’t equal bad for me;)
