Rose Elixir Precieux

This is my first fragrance review and my first post. Because I tried the rose today! I walked past those four precieux bottles a week ago and I was instantly intrigued. The weight of the glass, the expertly machined threads on the metal cap, the glass rod, the color of the oil, the preciously tiny amount. Only four of them: Oud, Musk, Amber, Rose. The titans among scents. These HAVE to be expensive. There was a price list, but I did not dare to look. I went home dreaming. Today I went past again with the sole purpose to try the rose. I have had some difficulties with rose as it has given me grandma vibes, but I smelled Oud Ispahan last week and that one took me back to the Sultan's palace in Aladdin and it changed my mind. I saw how Francois Demachy harvested roses in his documentary and it was all really romantic. This time I saw the price list and OMG: 100 EUR/ml. Is it more precious than gold? One drop on the wrist: This is very good. It smells natural, masculine and this one also gives me associations to the middle east. My hairdresser is allergic to perfume but she liked this one and it apparently was not giving her a headache. I met a friend from Iran later that day. I held up my wrist and he was immediatly brought back to his childhood, and he talked about incense, rich arabs, rose water, oud and old Persia. We were coincidentally walking through the local rose garden and he started to explain how the different species of rose smells like. I dove in and yes, he was right! And rose smells really good! Thank you Dior and Demachy for giving me this wonderful day. I am starting to count my money, because now I also want the other three.

I'm surprised by some of negative views but everyone is entitled to their opinion as perfumes both appear differently on people and preferences vary (thank God). On me, this perfume is somewhat linear but it is a scent bomb. The damascena rose comes off as a complex, elegant and delicate yet has an imposing character with an enormous projection that lasts forever. It works perfectly on its own and evolves only slightly from a freshly picked rose to a more evolved and deeper elegant rose but the evolution is subtle and slow. As if the small bottle and high cost didn't already give you that hint, a small dab goes a loooong way. Layering this shows off its capacity to deepen oud or woody notes yet still shines through the other perfume in a highly complementary way. IMHO this is simply amazing and is exceptionally versatile. Well worth the price.

This is unexpectedly so beautiful. Its unlike any other. This is top grade Turkish rose in its pure extrait form. Yes, very pricey. One drop lasts all day long. a scent unlike any other that is for sure. The most beguiling rose. The price is market price. As one tula of this in Quraishi or any other perfume house runs under about 5000aed. It is meantioned for blending, yet alone it is truly spellbinding. I am not a Dior fan and love this one.

Deep, deep, jammy, dark rose! Although the rose is super dominant I'd almost swear there's a hint of oud or something woody at the back of this...maybe that's just my imagination from all the Oud/Roses I've sniffed. Do not make any mistake this is the epitome of Turkish roses but not something I'd wear as it's too rosy for this gent. The performance and strength of this juice is truly stunning.

Dior messed up with this "exquisite creation" wannabe. This is everything but no elixir at all...A chemical rose sorbet from the beginning to the end when it transform into a cheap liqueur with a "Youth Dew" vibe. Nothing to clap your hands for and for sure a shame for this price. You can t pay hundred of euros for a nice bottle and a lie inside, sorry. NEVER buy this blind, it might be the biggest regret in your life. As a rose lover, this is something I can refuse even as a gift, sorry. One of the worst exclusive collection of elixirs.
