Rouge Trafalgar

Wow! It's not often I say that coming across Dior's seemingly endless recent myriad of floral, flower-shop in-a-bottle iterations that have taken over even their Haute Maison line. In fact; I barely ever say this for many scents; regardless of story, Parfumier or House. Fruity, berry scents are not as easy to do as they seem. It's like chips, you can get them anywhere but you have to really look and have the discerning taste for the real Quality ones. Aside from everyone knowing berry/fruit scents from women's scents in any department store; I've tried Jo Malone, Keicho, Creed (Baie), House of Oud, Ex Nihilo (Love Shot), Armani Prive, Beil, Tom Ford, Boadicea, Byredo's Pulp (rotting fruit ferment) - you name it, I've tried it. So, my jaw truly did hit the floor when after testing for a while. Yes; I really did find my Raspberry Grail scent here! Rouge Trafalgar starts with a very realistic ripe berry; really juicy yet also so syrupy! This is mainly a Raspberry-Blackcurrant combo scent (that leans towards Raspberry at the start of course) and for me it's easily the best using that accord as a focal introduction on the market. I keep saying this but again - Dior Privee aces a Raspberry scent - who'd have thunk it?? Surprisingly given the people who have stressed on the 'sour' and 'green' aspects of the scent, I'm very sensitive to those being a hyper sweet-tooth lover and, I didn't find anything sour/green about this berry blast opening. It's that effervescent, sweet and addicting opening that draws you in instantly. Granted, it's not ''fruit sugar, Ribena and jam explosion'' but it's certainly sweeter than many I've tried (like ahem, Ee02) that Fragrantica claim to label as 'Sweet' in the accords bar at the top. This one *is* sweet, it's rounded and balanced by some transparent citrus and a slightest touch of green cassis. All the main qualities of a Niche spring/summer scent are checked here. I can't stress enough how well this is actually done by Dior! I was relieved and somewhat surprised (and impressed) the were no 'orange soda and cough syrup' vibes from the other two fruits listed in the notes. This is practically 99% about the berries. Then after 10 minutes or so, it starts to swing from the nice sweetish citric berries, to a slight verdant green of cassis leaf, then drifts back to the bright, natural berries. It's only after the half hour mark that the scent starts turning toward the more greener Dyptique L'Ombre and Boulevard routes. By then, the inviting and exciting introduction has done it's work and sweetens even this stage of the scent as not not come across as having a spinach leaf or celery stick stuck up your nose. It's very smooth too; not so much of powder as I may have feared at all, this being just for ladies in the marketing (strange move by Dior as this is certainly less feminine and not floral at all compared to the would-be similar Boadicea and House of Oud's Empathy). It's actually very Unisex to me. My only reservations are they should have used more woods to really give the scent strength (as it is very VERY weak for an 'EDP', mmm) and vanilla for some body, to amplify the fruits at the base too and maybe should have added a touch more citrus at top to hold the effervescence of the start a little longer. For me its a fruitier, sweeter, more refined and just better Jo Malone Berries and Boulevard 34 Saint Germain from Dyptique. It's clear that Dior have taken caution and care with this scent to make it a crowd pleaser with real Quality to boot. It's the best in their premium 'Maison' line by far, for me and possibly the best scent they've ever made next to Dior Homme Intense. It's actually in my top 10 scents of all now I think of it, it's so hard to find a true, sweet berry scent like this without some sort of unwanted hiccup like a big powdery violet or celery stick ruining the harmony! Leagues above discount bin stuff like Fahrenheit. This is real Quality you can sense and appreciate and I mention again that Dior really are to be commended for it. What's more, it's widely available and pushed on their website for everyone to try. Berry good from Dior, berry good =) My rating: 9/10

When I'm smelling a fragrance for the first time, I always hope for a particular type of encounter that could be described as "love at first sniff," though that phrase seems reductive when I reflect on what actually happens in those moments. The truth of the experience is that the fragrance seems to touch a special part of my brain, I feel a buzz and a mix of newness and familiarity, and I can actually feel myself getting a little dopamine hit, a serotonin boost. My brain flies through about 50 positive emotions while simultaneously trying to categorize what I'm smelling, and then creates a vision of the life the scent represents. That doesn't happen often, but when it does, I know I'm about to spend a bunch of money. This is what happened when I smelled Rouge Trafalgar for the first time. It's a delightful melange of realistic berries with black currant taking the lead for me. It's not sweet, but it is sparkly, fizzy, effervescent. Though fruity, a very crisp patchouli and a clean, high quality musk add just enough depth and complexity to make this distinctive, and steer it away from becoming juvenile or shallow. The patchouli and musk aren't strong: this is still a berry show. But it is extremely well blended, and though there is something fleetingly familiar about it for milliseconds at a time, Rouge Trafalgar is overall unique. I love that it is something a little different without being too "challenging." It does have some similarities with Jo Malones Blackberry & Bay in certain moments, but they are still very different fragrances. Rouge Trafalgar has a lot more to offer in terms of range, complexity, emotion, projection, and longevity. However, if you like Blackberry & Bay, there's a good chance you will enjoy this one too. This fragrance would be a great choice for a lot of situations: work, dinner out, vacation, brunch with friends. It is extremely versatile. It certainly leans feminine, but is easily unisex. Longevity is excellent for me, and the drydown is very graceful. Even when there is just a whisper of this left on my skin, I still love the way it smells. Projection is moderate, but could probably be a sillage monster if you really went to town with the sprayer. I ordered the 4.25 bottle within hours of my first sniff. I'm honestly kind of wishing I'd sprung for the 8.4 oz instead. It's been a long time since a perfume shot to the top of my favorites list this quickly.

Rouge Trafalgar is one of the latest releases from the Maison Christian Dior line, from early 2020, a mostly-fruity fragrance that’s quite pleasant. The notes consist of strawberry, raspberry, mandarin orange, cherry, grapefruit, blackcurrant, patchouli, and musk. It has a bit of a light, fresh, fruity champagne / wine cooler / seltzer / spritzer type of vibe to it. There’s something bright and effervescent to it that I have a difficult time quantifying, since it’s not aldehydic, but present, in a limited way, in the background. There’s certainly sense in which Rouge Trafalgar is not at all groundbreaking, but I quite enjoy this blend. It’s well-executed, a really pleasant, invigorating fruity mix that really doesn’t involve much else apart from patchouli and musk, which makes it all the more remarkable that it’s not weighed down by sweetness. Rather, it’s light and fresh, feeling instantly appropriate for the current spring season, and probably fine year-round, even on a hot summer day, since it’s not too dense or syrupy sweet. Something that Sebastian Jara noted on his YouTube video in February is Rouge Trafalgar’s similarity to Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme, and I agree, with the same observation the blackberry prominence of the Gucci distinguishes it from the fruity mix of the Dior. Moreover, Rouge Trafalgar is a little more fruit-intensive overall, lacking the rose of the Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme. Both are fun fragrances, with the Gucci a bit cheaper when sold on the grey market, especially. I do owe them a proper side-by-side, however Like the rest of the Maison Christian Dior line, Rouge Trafalgar is priced at $450/$320/$220 for 450/250/125ml and only sold online (for US customers) at the Dior website. My opinion remains that as a higher-end line, Dior’s Maison Christian Dior (formerly Privee) is very reasonably priced, under $2/ml at the smallest bottle size. Rouge Trafalgar in particular performs reasonably well, too, albeit not outstandingly, but still noticeably better than designer freshies. Overall, I think Rouge Trafalgar is great, similarities to Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme and non-innovation notwithstanding. 8 out of 10

I love this fragrance!! This is the exact fruity bomb I have wanted for so long. I get no patchouli or real citrus in this fragrance. and...let me just say that the price for this enormous 8.4 oz bottle is WELLLL worth the money! Opens with a sweet true raspberry and cherry hold on me! Fills the room and is not offensive. SO sweet but not childish. Middle notes are spot on strawberry with a slight green from the black current. Dry down holds all the fruity greatness with a hint of white musk! Just love this...might actually be the first I claim as a signature! I do not understand other reviews at times and this one is way off the map. 1. You can not buy anything like this in the grocery store 2. There is no bitter to this fragrance at all what so ever! 3. Yes there is no rose base to this fragrance, why it is listed as fruity sweet. So assuming a note that is not clearly in the description makes no sense to me. 4. Bottle worthy for the price??? Well you tell me what other designer fragrance sells 8.4 ounces for $340 US?? Silage 10/10 Longevity 10/10 Performance 10/10 Overall 10/10 ****wonderful addition from the house of Dior! Thank you!!

I’ve scrolled a bit wondering if I already left a review for this ‘male stripper perfume’ . Simply a favourite Dior since I chanced upon a decant a long time ago. Then I found a humongous bottle that didn’t seem like a dastardly ripoff about a long time ago. I’ve got a gap in the bottle and I consider it a bit of a masterpiece. It is a bit tartly stinging not sweet with vanilla and ethyl maltol yet, there’s a fruity sweetness. Sort of rosey rhubarb and reminds me of “In Love Again “ and even Delina, yet it somehow stands alone. I wonder if there’s an ‘ambergris’ chemical that I’m on the edge of smelling that gives that spermey stripper image and I ‘think’ the perfumers put in to make it seem *unisex*. I’d really love this site to actually question perfumers about this stuff instead of endless crap about factory chemical new releases passing as ‘perfume’.

For sweet lovers but gourmand haters this has to be the holy grail. I also don't find it to be a "female" fragrance at all, rather perfectly unisex. It opens semi-sweet like unripen red berries. There is most definitely a "green" component. The notes has mandarin orange listed but to me its more of an orange blossom. And then like fruit does with the seasons, the fragrance ripens and sweetens over time. It is so intoxicating. The most prominent "berry" out of them all for me is strawberry but the cherry accord comes in and out the entire time. Its light and airy but sticky and lasts. I usually fall in love with fragrance openings only to be let down by its main component, the dry down. But this just gets better and better with time. Overall its definitely a more linear strawberry/red berry musk fragrance but at the same time its so much more.

My story with Rouge Trafalgar was a long and convoluted process. I battled with it strenuously until I gave in and got won over. Initially, I had an intense aversion to the top notes. The scent didn’t quite seem to agree with my skin in sweltering hot weather — it smelled synthetic and soapy. However, once the weather cooled down, the fragrance really flourished and bloomed and what a passionate explosion! Today I decided to layer it with Fève Délicieuse and the result is truly addictive. I guess it was a classic story of love and hate and lived happily ever after. If you’re unsure about Rouge Trafalgar, I would recommend trying it a few times in different weather conditions and at different times of day. You may very well fall head over heels in love with it just like I did.

So let me start by saying I am a guy, and I think this is leaning female, but I LOVE the fragrance so much, I wear it and don't care if something thinks it's kind of feminine. I really do love this fragrance... did I already say that? It's just so well done, and doesn't smell like everything else that's fruity. It has a lushness, and softness that's almost juicy but not a bit tart, and has nice dry down notes that feel soft, sumptuous, luxurious, and of so comfortable.The fruity notes are what makes this one amazing. I really get the black currant, raspberry, and a delicate cherry (more like cherry blossom?) and a light, clean patchouli and musk in the base. It just smells so uplifting that I wish I'd bought the really huge 8 oz. bottle.

I am surprised at the amount of meh reviews of this. It is an astute, delicate perfume that takes multiple wearings to figure out. Like a piece of art in a museum that needs to visited many times to ponder and fully appreciate. I now think this is a very expertly done fruit note, one of the best i have smelled. So much so that I could have sworn there was rose in this initially. The fruit note is that non-sweet, dry and velvety that the image of petals comes to mind, not berries. Pairing it with grapefruit is genius IMO to make it dry and shimmering. That fruit note is seamlessly melded to a smooth musk note that is makes for a sultry, beautiful combination that truly blooms on skin and in the heat.

This is my go-to fresh scent! Whenever I want to smell put-together, fresh, feminine, and professional, I wear this scent! I really love the fruity quality it has, yet it’s also a little green, floral, and has an ever so slight undertone of sexy (from the patchouli in the base😉). I’m honestly not big into florals, but this is one where I actually enjoy them since they’re served with a side of fruit haha. This isn’t a super sweet fragrance and definitely isn’t gourmand. It’s honestly just this uplifting fruity-freshness. You feel ready to greet people and get work done or meet up with your friends for coffee/tea. An easy everyday or signature scent.

Hubby brought this back for me when he was vacationing in Panama, It was not a love at first sniff however, i never gave up on it and it has easily become a love and a huge compliment getter. I enjoy the juicy opening however for me, its alll about that musky dry down! Super sensual, iv been enjoying this more in the spring and summer but i can see it being an all year round scent. Lasts on the clothes for a good while too! Iv been sampling other Dior scent from this line and i can easily say its one of my faves. I wish they did not discontinue happy hour because that was my fave but oh well!

People calling this one a classic must be very familiar with perfumes, I personally love Dior's classy take on a fruity fragrance. Looking at the notes, this fragrance could easily take the childish route however it is executed elegantly yet still youthfully. It has a quirky, flirty feel to it while maintaining poise. Red fruits are accentuated wirth a tinge of sharpness, but without crossing their boundaries. In my opinion, a sister to Very Good Girl by CH in the sense that they are both fruity, feminine, flirty and all the while quirqy and unique scents !

This is My favorite fragrance of all time.SMELLS GORGEOUS like a vacation far far away from home and next to the beaches with some citruses next to me,luxurious smelling shower gel grapefruit bomb with some fruit sweetness and floral notes,it is really fresh and amazing for the summertime.Longevity is great for how fresh and uplifting it is at around 8 hours,low projection tho but spray this a lot and u are the best smelling man or woman on earth.Masterpiece private line creation from Dior.10/10,would love to get a 200 ML bottle soon.

This fragrance first drew my attention because of its sillage. I now have a tester and I can say that I really love it. I think most people judge it solely from its fruity opening but to me this fragrance seems very couture. It has actually a certain dustiness that makes me think of textiles smell. To me, this scent is placed somewhere between the smell of a fashion designer's atelier and a nostalgic happy feeling triggered by an old photo. It is very mysterious, very urban and chic. Definitely suitable for a big capital life.

A really lovely realistic juicy composition, but too many red fruits for my taste and while not overly sweet too sweet for me. Clean, fresh, but resinous. I much prefer the more subdued composition of Gris Dior. Update: I changed my view as the weather warmed as I tested this in the cold months. In the summer heat this fragrance blossoms and is SO delicious. The resinous and fruits really shine. I have evolved in my view and now love this scent. Certainly a joyful easy wear!

The perfect spring/summer fragrance. Feminine, but could definitely be considered a unisex fragrance. Tart berry sorbet! It reminds me a bit of Her by Burberry and For your love by Mizensir - both gorgeous scents - but less heavy. Tanned skin, freckles and Rouge Trafalgar - are words that come to mind. This is one of my staples in the summer. Fresh, sweet and sexy! Could not and don’t want to be without it! The name suits the fragrance well, I’m telling you it’s amazing! 🧡

It's very similar to Miss Dior Cherie, just more fruity. The opening is lovely, red tart fruits. After a while, to my surprise, it becomes soapy, although this stage doesn't last long. At the drydown the fuits subside a bit and patchouli is quite prominent. Elegant scent, flirty and playful. The performance is amazing as well. I already have the Miss Dior so I don't see a reason to buy this one. Between the two though, I would choose Rouge Trafalgar.

Elevated and high end. Sexy and grown berry! This is a sparkling fresh fruity scent, I would go as far to call it effervescent. The berry is very realistic, not syrupy or artificial at all. Raspberry is up front and evident through the entire wear. Tart & refreshing, it contains musk and patchouli however, the musk is not animalic at all. Rouge Trafalgar smells expensive and unlike any other fragrance I’ve tried. Performs well in the heat!

I'm not a grapefruit lover but decided to buy a decant anyways. I didn't love it and never reached for it. I decided to put it on my tray this to get some use out of it and I really really enjoyed it! It probably sat in a drawer for 2 years and I think it got better with time. I am obsessed with the dry down and how it develops. I still would probably like it better without the grapefruit but I still very much enjoy it with it as well.

My friend and I went to Holt Renfrew to see new fragrances and the sales advisor recommended this to me as I do enjoy fruity scents. Let me just say, I am completely in love with this! It is absolutely beautiful and is perfect for summer of course. It smells delicious and delicate which I love. I only got a sample but I do plan on going back to purchase the bottle. I have gotten compliments every time I tried it!

I love it, it smells amazing when i first spray on my skin, ive always love fruity or floral scent btw, im very sensitive to certain scent, some scent with synthetic components would make me have headache and dizziness, but this one eventhough its sweet (and most fruity scent are synthetic oil anyway) but this one doenst give me headache LOVE at first sniff,, For me this one is the best in the maison CD line.

I can see myself picking this up at some point if for the right price. A really nice fruity and fresh red berry fragrance with floral nuisances for lazy and normal days. Throw this on and go about your day. Feminine leaning but I feel like it can be pulled off by most people provided you like the scent. Another reason to just wear what you like regardless of what gender it’s being marketed towards.

This is absolutely one of my most favourite scents ever. Such a fruity wee number...it smells do good from first spritz. It brings great joy for several hours and everytime I caught a whiff I was just delighted all over again. Love love love Rouge Trafalgar. I am not goin to lie...how i wish it was more intense and lasted all day and into the night...but the smell is simply lush. Its a keeper.

Fruity flirtation. Light yet slightly dark, slightly musky, very impressive. Elegance w/ a dark side. Sophistication w/ a side of raunch. Classy w/ a crooked 's.' Tarty. Tangy. Luxe. Sweet. Strutting unsteadily in mid-heel red bottoms. Gracefully twirling an updo tendril w/ a manicured middle finger. Pretending to be unfazed by his glance. I want to fill my tub w/ this juice & soak.

Not at all what I was expecting, in a good way! Based on the reviews here and the notes I was expecting a super girly, juicy, fruity explosion. I actually find it to be totally unisex. As a young male I would feel totally comfortable wearing this. It smells like very realistic fruits with super clean patchouli and musk. Just a tad sweet, a tad tart, and musky. It's really nice.

Not quite what I was expecting, but I like it nevertheless. This is much more tart than I was expecting. There is a hint of sweetness, but it is not a sweet fragrance to me. It's very bracing and perfect for spring and early summer. The musk and patchouli might make it a tad heavy for the 98 degree (37 C) days we get here. It does seem expensive for what you get, however.

I initially smelled the Perfect Fruity Floral at first spray, but as it dried down i could really smell the patchouli. It smells like expensive textiles and I love the cherry note. It is so wonderfully juicy and has an unexpected depth to it that I really enjoy. It is in no way just a red fruit scent, as it has this organic thready mushiness I can’t explain.

Beautiful! A fruitty perfume giving us the chance to smell not only the sweetness of fruits but the sourness also. A little powdery. It smells like the colour RED should be smelling. Not sticky more like floating around us. Stay the same all along. Not like the cherry perfumes this one give to me more the smell of berries. Love it!

Such an elevated fruity scent. Lots of bright red berries with stems and a hint of rose in the background. Playful and upbeat, leans fem. I enjoy it but can’t speak to its longevity as I’m only basing my review on a sample. I would buy a full size wherever I can find it for cheaper. Don’t think it’s worth the retail price.

This is such a beautiful burst of red fruits! It’s quite sharp in the first 30 seconds but it settles down quickly. I love it because it evokes springtime in a most joyous manner. Does it warrant the high price tag? No, definitely not but it sure smells wonderful. I’ll get a bottle of it eventually...

This smells like a forest of pine trees that grows juicy red berries . There is a slight soapy undertone. A huge love but that price is crazy for something that has no more than 1 hr lasting power on me. I’d rather go for the oilperfumery dupe which I find to be very close

I got a sample of this with a Dior purchase. Oh my gosh this is so unique. Just the right amount of black current to keep it classy. This is a genuine tart berry fragrance. Not very sweet. Do I detect a fir tree note? Worth purchasing a bottle of this.

I'm loving this stuff. Wearing it through a work day. Rouge Trafalgar is so sweet, but it is alluring and not cloying. I have worn this many times now and I don't think I'll get a full bottle any time soon, but maybe one day.

It's airy, sweet and fruity settling into a more green, earthy and musky scent. Great for those who enjoy sweetness but hate gourmand. Whenever my girlfriend wears this, it just makes me want to bite into her. It's great.

It truly smells beautiful - a musky blend of unripe fruits where strawberry is a little more prominent on my skin, BUT I'd have to agree with the comments saying you can get a similar scent from a cheap berry body mist.

So pretty. Sparkling and inoffensive musky fruity floral. Perfect for warm spring and summer days. Feels innocent and sophisticated at the same time in that very Dior way. I really like it and it’s a great dumb reach.

This is a sexy feminine fragrance. I imagine that this would be lovely for younger women. It's a little fruity, and nicely musky. The sweetness is not drastic which makes this lovely. And this projects nicely as well.

Very unisex. Berries fruity scent with some fresh greens. not syrupy sweet kind. I dont consider it attractive or feminine. Just a perfect everyday fruity perfume. Which is hard to find a fruity that is not cloying.

A very elegant combination of raspberries and cherries on a classic chypre base of patchouli and a lot of modern musks which make it more airy. A perfect combination of modern and classic.

Best for summer/warm fall days Not similar to Blackberry Bay as it's not musky at all and not an intimate scent It's a fruity chypre with grapefruit slightly dominating over the rest

This one is my favourite of this dior line that I have tried. It’s sweet, fruity, light and happy. It could be related to Hanae by Hanae mori. It’s sweet and fruity done well.

I smell it, i love it and i buy it. i fell in love with this one and i as a guy feel like this scent suits my personality well and its definitely my signature scent

This is candy sweet red berries with a heavy dose of musk. Completely gorgeous. So ultra sweet with something extra that makes it a little bit sexy.

Very berricious. Can be used on its own or layered with another to make it balanced if you find it too sweet. I layered mine to make it boozy.

Oh this is timeless classy. I can’t explain the notes, but it smells luxe, elegant, and sophisticated. Very nice.
