Sauvage Extrait

As usual, half of you all have shitty opinions here. Im not surprised even a little. There was another review calling yall out, @pepsi_wheres_my_jet nailed it in one paragraph. " Sometimes it feels like this community doesn’t actually know what it wants. If a fragrance isn’t nuclear, it’s “weak.” If it is nuclear, it’s “overbearing.” If it’s different from the original, it’s a failure. If it’s too similar, it’s uninspired." THIS MAN JUST PREACHED. I for one, as usual, absolutely love this stuff. So much so, im gunna wear it on an 80 degree day for the first wear. 😂😭 This community further shows itself as one that most of the time im not fond to be a part of, as its laughable how some of the folks here are. But i digress. Where to start? When you thought Sauvage Elixir couldn't have any more depth or darkness, Extrait comes in the tell you otherwise.... A bit of freshness in the opening met within 30 seconds with a sharp, smoky BLAST of smokey oud and that same sort of syrupy licorice woody accord Elixir is known for. This is genuinely just Elixir, but with a mass of oud in it. Lots of reviews and YT Reviews speaking that this strays the farthest away from the Sauvage DNA, and it does, but it also is still very much Sauvage nonetheless. This does however stray completely at this point away from the EDT/EDP. The only thing that has any sort of resemblance at this point in the line, is the Bergamot, which here, you get the slightest tiniest HINT that this bergamot is familiar, at no point to me does it smell like the classic fresh "Sauvage Bergamot". The opening here more has a semblance to the Parfum, but thats stretching it some too. This more seems to have Elixir in its inspiration than anything else, which I'm ok with. I do detect what people are saying is some Amouge here, I think the one I'm thinking of is the only one I've ever sampled, and I think it's called Interlude, which I think my comparison comes in that whatever Oud they're using, it has so much of the same vibe as the Oud they've used here in Extrait... Other than that, they are very different frags. Can't speak on the comparison to Opus XIV, or Creed's Oud Zarian. You could almost say its like if Amouge did a Sauvage Flanker, but that is a little of a push. Fragrantica's little pictogram card rates the longevity here at 6 hours, which made me die laughing,... I wore this on a hot ass day for the first time, and im 10 hours in right now, and this is genuinely still going strong, and the sillage, just like Elixir, is exponential. I put on literally one singular spray of this stuff today, and it performs better than almost any bottle I own currently, and I almost will NEVER spray any frag I have just one time. I am the epitome of a oversprayer. The heat combined with not knowing how strong it would really be, left me sitting at one spray. All that said, point is, Fragrantica is a joke for their little pictogram card. Do not trust it. Not only that, I've come to see and notice that most every pictogram they have on almost any fragrance is inaccurate, and I highly recommend they look into these if they want anyone to look at them and take them seriously. I recomend the winter and fall for this, special occasions and holidays only for me, but this also opens up Elixir to be a little less formally worn by me. This now takes the formal fragrance place. This is definitely the most niche feeling Sauvage. That all said, this goes on to show that like the rest of the Sauvage lineup, it is still my most favorite designer fragrance line, and this flanker further cements it as exactly that. I own every concentration outside of Eau Forte, and while this one is not completely what I expected, I am super stoked for it to get colder so I can truly experience this one. :)

I've always admired fragrances that quietly stay with you from the first spray in the morning until the day finally winds down. Not the kind that demand being showered with them to make themselves known, but those that project confidently without ever feeling overwhelming. For the longest time, I thought finding that balance was wishful thinking. Even Amouage, despite its legendary longevity, never truly resonated with my tastes. So when I learned that Dior was introducing Sauvage Extrait, my curiosity was immediate. An Extrait concentration from a fragrance line already known for its performance felt like a promise worth exploring. I didn't hesitate, I knew I had to experience it for myself. What excited me the most was the idea of oud. Not the animalic, medicinal, or barnyard-style oud that can be challenging, but the smell of truly luxurious, expensive oud, smooth, polished, and regal. Dior has captured that feeling beautifully. The oud here doesn't shout; it elevates the composition, adding richness and sophistication without sacrificing wearability. I also own Sauvage Elixir, a fragrance I have always considered the pinnacle of the Sauvage line. But after wearing Extrait, I honestly feel it's playing in an entirely different league. If Elixir is a top-of-the-line Ferrari, then Extrait is a Bugatti, more refined, more exclusive, and somehow even more impressive. The difference in ingredient quality is immediately noticeable. Everything feels richer, smoother, and more meticulously blended. Then there's the performance. Even after 12 hours on my skin, Sauvage Extrait is still pumping hard. It never collapses into a faint skin scent. Instead, it continues to radiate with confidence, reminding you throughout the day that it's still very much alive. This isn't just another Sauvage flanker, it's a true step into the luxury realm, and in my opinion, the finest expression of the line to date.

Right off the bat, you are hit with an intense, slightly sweet, and earthy patchouli blended with lavender. For the first 2 to 3 hours, it projects loudly, and even with just a couple sprays, scent wafts keep hitting you constantly. The patchouli stays present throughout, joined by a touch of earthy, dry vetiver. The fragrance is super oily and leaves a massive sheen on your skin. In the background, the oud is dry and woody with just a tiny hint of animalic nuance. The oud accord leans into the Layton / Pegasus Exclusif DNA but it also does remind me of Amouage Royal Tobacco’s dry oud accord. The oud here is quite understated, but definitely noticeable. Deep into the drydown, the oud takes even more of a center stage, combining with balsamic, ambery notes and a hint of oakmoss. This Extrait flanker is far drier than any previous Sauvage release, completely ditching the signature "shower gel" freshness. If I had to compare it to anything, I’d describe it as a hybrid of Pegasus Exclusif / Boss Bottled Absolu / Royal Tobacco. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t smell like any of these fragrances, but the vibe is similar. This could easily pass as a release by Amouage. To my nose, it barely shares any DNA with the main Sauvage line, but on its own, it’s a brilliant, dry, super potent, yet elegant fragrance. Longevity is eternal, I could easily smell this on my wrist a day later. This is definitely not your average mass-appealing crowd-pleaser. I like it!

There is an initial blast of fresh aromatics (mostly lavender) in the opening, but that is immediately blanketed by smoky, warm spicy, resinous sweetness. It smells like smoked dates covered in spices. It's very smooth and balanced even though it's so dense, dark, and smoky. That sweet smokiness sticks around for the life of the scent, but you get the classic Sauvage DNA peeking through in the later dry down. It's not prominent since it has to compete with denser and richer notes, but it's there and really nice. Ultimately this profile dries down to be dark, oudy, resinous, slightly fresh (from the Sauvage DNA), and woody. The Vietnamese Oud is very present, and it's not barnyardy or fecal smelling...it's resinous, slightly leathery, and very rich. This is probably my favorite designer oud at the moment. Anyway, I loved this enough to buy a bottle earlier today. It has a Middle Eastern profile, and it's reminiscent of something like Creed Oud Zarian (the opening), Amouage Royal Tobacco, or Omanluxury Angham, but not quite. It doesn't really smell like a Sauvage, either. FK did a great job creating something very distinct. 9.1/10 - Get your nose on this before buying and let it dry down before forming a final opinion. You may not like this, and that's ok.

Dior Sauvage Extrait, 2026 Release – These are my personal opinions, based on wearing this fragrance. To start off, if you’re expecting this fragrance to be redundant with the Elixir version, you’re in for a surprise. From the opening notes, you may notice a slight nuance reminiscent of the Elixir, as you’re greeted by its acclaimed lavender. However, this experience becomes fleeting within a few minutes, as it takes a quick turn into its dark composition, best described as woodsy, earthy, resinous, incense-like, oud-like, and somewhat tobacco-like, with minimal to nearly nonexistent sweetness. Given the aspects and caliber of this fragrance, the composition makes you wonder whether the Perfumer deliberately reached back to the denser, more assertive men’s fragrances of the 1980s with the exception of the use of oud. If you don’t care much for retro or vintage men’s fragrances based on perception rather than experience, you may want to test this one out so you can get an idea of their influences. Dior Sauvage Extrait is a bold creation in modern perfumery. I felt instant admiration on first spray. This is a fragrance I will always cherish. I’m actually inclined to get an additional bottle so I don’t regret it later for any reason.

If you're expecting a funky cheesy oud like LV Myriad, Amouage Silver Oud, Nishane Hacivat Oud, etc. This isn't it. Not gonna lie, was a bit disappointed when the oud in here didn't smell like that based on all the comments bashing it, but to my nose, I don't even detect the oud in this cuz its blended so well. Im just glad its not that medicinal oud used in MFK Oud. With that being said, what I do smell right off the bat is that sauvage elixir dna minus the spice. For me, that's great because that's one of the things about the elixir that I didn't like, that spicy opening. This opens up smoother. After about an hour I'm starting to get a blend of like a subtly sweet chocolate patchouli and dry woods, which must be the cedar. To me, this smells like a mix of sauvage elixir without the spice and the dry down of ATH Daddy/Zeus that has that chocolatey patchouli dry down. All of this is based off a test spray on the back of my wrist as soon as I picked this up from macys on release day, and me currently wearing this at work right now. I do like this over the elixir and plan on letting go of the elixir in favor of this.

Francis Kurkdjian redeemed himself for his past sins with Dior Homme Parfum by creating this one. This fixed the Elixir, it's a true high end niche quality and scent profile...Francis Kurkdjian, you're almost forgiven, almost. This is a love for me, and I have a decant (sample) of it, a small official sample from one of the main large clothing stores in the US, don't ask how I got it, but I really really dig this one, especially after an hour of wearing it, when it starts to depart from the elixir to do its own magic. For people who don't like oud, don't bother, this has oud, and it smells authentic, but if it's not authentic oud, then the accord is incredibly well done. Mind you, it's not heavy on oud, it just has it and its detectable. Something about this reminds me of Davidoff Cool Elixir, but this is so so much better. The oud in Cool Elixir is highly synthetic, not in this one, and the blending is a bit rough around the edges with the Davidoff. However, the combination of Lavender and Oud sing a similar tune, so to speak, and that's where the similarity ends, and then they diverge to sing their own songs.

When I tried Sauvage Extrait at Macys I was initially disappointed. My hand smelled horrible but I had already ordered a bottle from Dior. It came in and instead of returning it I wore it and I am so glad I did. This is a boss man’s Sauvage Elixir. Opening smells similar to Sauvage elixir but has so much more depth. I am absolutely in love with this fragrance and can’t wait for fall and winter. You can tell it’s extremely high quality and very very......very woodsy. I get a hit of patchouli, dry cedar (which smells very good) and a slight Oud. On my hand at Macy’s all I smelled was Oud and it was a bit funky. But the bottle I received from Dior, my goodness!!! It’s a masterpiece and will end up being one of the best men’s fragrance come 10 years from now when people figure it out. Now FK, please fix that nightmare of DHP and use some of this new Oud in there!! Call it Dior Homme Absolu!

Saw this at Nordstrom last week and was taken aback because I wasn't even aware of its existence. As a big fan of the Sauvage line, I had to try it. I even got a free sample from the lady working behind the counter! I am happy to report that Kurkdijan did not fuck up this time. This is actually pretty damn good. It's basically Sauvage Elixir with a Middle Eastern twist, and the ambroxan knob cranked up to 11. In fact, I think I like this more than Elixir. The Vietnamese oud gives it a sweet smokiness that sets it apart from the rest of the line. Stupid longevity and projection, this was filling up my car the whole way home. Definitely a special occasion scent to be worn strictly during the winter. Two sprays MAX unless you want to kill everyone around you.

Just received my order of this new extrait. It was a complete blind buy and I’m happy to say that it was a success. Absolutely love the scent profile, and I knew I would. I was so confident that this new release would slap so I ended up buying three bottles, so I’d still have its first formulation when I run out of a bottle. This fragrance is an absolute beast. I’m an over sprayer usually and I’ve only sprayed one spray but its strength is still apparent. Can’t wait to wear this properly. It’s now easily in my top 3 in my whole collection of niche perfumes and few designers. Defo pick this one up, and I’d say it’s a safe blind buy if you love the smell of the elixir. What a release!

I have almost all the sauvage line except the eau forte. This one is a banger. Makes me wanna sell off my elixir for this one. Truly deep dark and all around loud. 1 or 2 sprays is all you need. My skin was glistening when I sprayed it on me. Oil content is very high! I love how it starts a bit fresh then just punched you in the face with that dark lavender woods. It’s dark as hell but also fresh to me. I think this might be my favorite savage yet. It’s super masculine loud and a dank ass fragrance. I don’t care about people’s perceived view of the line itself. I think it smells great and my wife does too. Just another banger to add to the collection.

Quite easily my favorite version of Savage. I hear a lot of people say it’s not for everyone. Ok, that’s probably true... but if you like oud and a nice woody, smokey and spicy dry down, this is 100% for you! I love how they dialed down the sweetness in this blend. Very manly, dapper and elegant. The first Savage I had to pick up a full bottle of. With that said, this is NOT a hot weather scent at all. I wouldn’t even wear this in warm weather. Definitely a cool or cold weather scent... nothing warmer than low 70’s. I definitely get some Amouage Interlude vibes from this fragrance.

I’ll add my two cents after a week of wearing it . First of all this is not for newbies or little kids , this fragrance is for serious people . I thought that the parfum version couldn’t get any better but I was wrong . This is one of the best designer releases of the year. Elegant and powerful oud adds the back bone to this fragrance, I agree with the Amouage comparison . This a testament to how a fragrance should evolve . If you follow Sauvage by now you should see the bigger picture and the magnificent evolution of this perfume and one of the best lines on the designer realm !

Damn good, dry out Oud for Greatness and remove any sweetness and most spice. Replace it with vetiver and patchouli and cedar, oud sits between the woody green elements peaking through. The Sauvage soapiness is a hat on top, stays longer than I expect softening the deeper notes almost inviting you to sniff deeper and let the "earthiness" come through, vetiver peaks in the nostrils with thick SLIGHTLY sweet patchouli in the way patchouli can be. Thing is a room filler, half a spray to one spray is prob enough. biggest downside, but you get your moneys worth for the 50ml at least.

This is why Francis Kurkdjian is a Master Perfumer, dont ever underestimate him. This is simply a Masterpiece already. It won't be for everyone but for the ones that love this will eat it up. In the opening it reminds me of a denser EDT and a bit of Elixir then goes into its own thing. There's real Vietnamese Oud and Patchouli in here and I can definitely recognize the natural character of it. There's no cheap ingridients in this one, niche quality. As it should be. Dior can fucking afford it. Let Francis loose, let him do his thing.

This is very reminiscent of Xerjoff Golden Green and Amouage Royal Tobacco to my nose....minus the coffee from Golden Green!! The lavender and incense is top notch! The dry down is heavy woods and incense and pushes for hours and hours. The dry down to my nose is predominately incense and is along the lines of Amouage Interlude 53's dry down. For those of you niche snobs who are also Sauvage fan-boys like me, this is a great addition and to anyone's collection who is looking for something daring and will get you noticed!! Cheers!

Luxurious. Elegant. Mysterious. This is the best Sauvage flanker from THE Francis Kurkdjian. I smelled this at Dillard’s and immediately purchased it. This has niche vibes to it and should belong to the private line. This juice is POWERFUL and lasts all day. The first 10 seconds gives of DS Elixir vibes but then turns to something immediately different. The Vietnamese Oud is something you can’t find everyday. I highly recommend you sample this before buying! 12/10 Creation from Dior and Francis Kurkdjian

I blind bought this like a tool but it totally worked out. It's great. Its actually a great value. It's 50ml but a half spray is literally all you need. It wil last a long time. The oud is super easy and not challenging. Im actually shocked how easy wearing this is because of the reviews. Mind you, im not saying this won't be challenging for some but iv smelled waaaay more challenging then this. Anyways as long as you apply super sparingly its awesome. Totally is nuclear though haha

This is just......wow. Coming from the Sauvage line with much to be desired as I genuinely am into more deeper scents, this one really hit me by surprise when I saw it announced for the first time. I thought, "Now why the hell would I like anything oud related coming to Sauvage?" I love this one from the opening until it gets to the drydown honestly. I don't know if its the oud but its definitely something fecal within this one that gives it a crazy punch.

I think this fragrance is phenomenal! Wow! Francis Kurkdjian knocked it out of the park. I love woody and spicy fragrances so this is exactly what I am looking for. I personally don’t detect much oud (I get whiffs of it from time to time), but it’s not anything close to niche or artisan oud fragrances. Not animalic at all, it’s just very woody. I love it because I perceive it to be very masculine. What an outstanding fragrance from Dior!
