Eau Duelle Eau de Parfum

This is one of my most favorite perfumes, hands down. I’ve gone through many bottles and the EDP/EDT. This scent is a dry and resinous vanilla with some incense and spices. It’s perfectly unisex. It reminds me of rainy days, analog typewriters, and leather boots. It’s not exactly sexy per se, but it is extremely comforting to me. I wear this to bed a lot, and wish it had more power behind it. I overspray for sure. It also doesn’t last very long, about 2-3 hours. I don’t care, I love the way it smells and will keep buying it. From my Eau Duelle EDT Review for reference: I have the EDT and the EDP. I have them on skin right now to compare for those that want this information. The EDT is less heavy. It’s airier and has more “old books, old library, balsam fir trees” going on. The vanilla in this is perfection. This has less lasting power but is my preferred scent between the two despite its faults. It’s possibly more feminine than the EDP because the EDP has a bourbon vanilla going on, while the toilette has a Madagascar, aged vanilla going on. I prefer the vanilla in the toilette. The winter trees are blended with the vanilla and they are the stars of the show, with the resins coming in as the background scents. It’s truly studying old books in an old library with a cup of tea at hand and candles lit on the candelabra. The EDP is denser, and the Bourbon vanilla here is more fragrant. It has the bourbon vanilla as the main star, with the resin coming in second and the winter trees as back up singers. The winter trees or Cypriol is sharper here as well. This scent is more serious. It’s sitting in a den library at home, with a finger of whiskey in front of a fire vibes. A touch more masculine to my nose than the EDT, but still unisex. I switch off which one I prefer. As of right now, the EDT is my reigning queen. I have purchased multiple bottles of both. They are truly in my top favorite fragrances of all time. These are among the most comforting scents I have put my nose on. I’m still as obsessed as I was the first time I smelled the EDT. The only pain about these is that a) no one else can smell them, I’ve never gotten a compliment because they’re so faint and b) they don’t last very long- 2 hours with regular spraying. With this knowledge, I tend to overspray the heck out of these, which sucks because they aren’t cheap. But still, I love them. My perfect scents 💕

Eau Duelle Eau de Parfum (launched in 2013 and signed by the famous nose Fabrice Pellegrin) is the demonstration of how vanilla can be stripped of any childish or cloying cliché to transform itself into a mature, deep and decidedly magnetic olfactory journey. If the Eau de Toilette version focuses on a more aromatic and airy freshness, the Eau de Parfum digs into the darkness, offering a denser, nocturnal and enveloping version. A game of contrasts the name itself, "Duelle", evokes a duel. In this case, it is a love clash between the ancestral sweetness and the edginess of spices and resins. The first impact is vibrant. Pink pepper stings the sense of smell with an almost cold and spicy freshness, immediately introducing the unisex character of the fragrance. There is no room for immediate sugar; the beginning is dynamic and biting. The smoky and mystical soul of the perfume soon emerges. Incense takes the fragrance by the hand, depriving it of any purely ecclesiastical connotation and instead giving it an exotic and mysterious aura. This is where Cypriol (Nagarmotha) oil comes into play, with its woody, earthy and slightly tart facets, it is the perfect counterbalance to the sweetness. The real protagonist remains Bourbon Vanilla, but forget the pastry desserts. This is vanilla in a pod: dark, carnal, liqueur-like and smoky. It remains on the skin for hours, transforming into a warm and reassuring, yet incredibly sophisticated caress. It finds the perfect balance between traditionally feminine softness and masculine woody/spicy dryness. It is not a "screaming" perfume that fills a room annoying others, but creates a splendid and intimate olfactory bubble around the wearer. It is at its best in the autumn and winter months, or on cool evenings, thanks to its heating power. It is not a simple vanilla fragrance: it is a fireplace lit on a winter night, it is the scent of the pages of an old adventure book combined with the incense of a distant temple. It is the ideal choice for those looking for a gourmand perfume that is not cloying, but who prefers to move in the territories of whispered elegance, mystery and intellectual sensuality. For anyone that's wanted to know the difference between the EDP & EDT: I love Eau Duelle EDT but had never tried the EDP, so when my beloved bottle of the EDT hit that halfway full mark, I ordered the EDP thinking they can't be that different. I was kind of right. In the first few minutes after initial application, in Eau Duelle EDP the wood smells a bit differently than it does in the EDT, and the best example I have would be hickory to oak. Also, the bourbon vanilla is more full bodied and rounded, giving the EDP that rich and bold roundness. I feel the EDP has more of that spicy bite as well. I think the last difference would be that there is more of a smoky smell to the EDP. Eau Duelle EDP smells like you are deep in the woods and a fire was recently put out of a bourbon vanilla soaked wood. It isn't an intense smoky smell, but a familiar and comfortable scent. So, having said all that, how similar to the EDT is it and do I like it as much? I would say this is the same scent as the EDT but it has some notes more amplified, tweaking it a bit and slightly altering it from the EDT. It's roughly 75-80% the same scent. I think the EDT is fresher and more balanced but that is most likely because that is the first scent we've all come to know and love first. I do prefer the heavy dose of vanilla in the EDP, so I suppose it's a tie. I will also say that I wore the EDT on one arm and the EDP on the other to see if there were any performance differences or to see if anyone else could tell the 2 were different scents, and my boyfriend thought they were the same. Even I could hardly tell after a few hours, they basically dried down to the same scent. Performs great, a good 12+ hours on my skin.

Comparing this side by side with Eau Duelle EDT. EDP: Heavy punch of aromatics, its dustier & more forest-y / pine heavy. The dusty smell isnt a negative, its part of what makes this scent magical. Its got a dense incensey smell, like walking through a dark thick forest. Woody, smoky. EDT: First spray, much less aromatic than the EDP. Softer, rounder. Very light. Fairy in the woods vibe. Smoky, dusty, woody but dialed down. Middle notes EDP: leans more into the cypress. Very captivating, aromatic & strong, smoky. EDT: vanilla kicks in, becomes sweeter, almost a touch bubblegummy. Still has much lighter forest / pine notes with that "dusty" Eau Duelle DNA. Base notes EDP: Melds into this gorgeous vanilla, cypress & incense base. Really strong. To me, just very calming & captivating scent. Powerhouse forest vanilla. My favorite scent EVER for the cold months. EDT: My husband prefers this one, he likes the sweetness of the vanilla here more. To me, its just too light compared to the EDP. I like my fragrances to lean beast mode, EDT would be best if youre constrained by workplace fragrance rules or prefer skin scents! I think both are redundant to own in your collection as they are VERY similar - one is more aromatic & beastly (EDP) and the other is just lighter, leaning slightly more into the vanillic base (EDT). Its really the same scent just cranked up or down. That Eau Duelle DNA is dry, dusty, powdery but in the best way. Its just one of those scents you HAVE to try yourself. Its so unique. Never smelled something similar to this. I will always have this in my collection.

I really love this scent. It’s more potent and characteristically grounded than the EDT version, but leaning towards the grounds of an antique, historical library with ornate classical architecture, within it, a few marble statues as tribute to some deities of wisdom so that the visitors too may gain blessings of erudition. Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised that I like this more than the EDT ! ! It’s thicker, darker, sweeter— but instead of making it more juvenile, it surprisingly enhances the element of maturity. While the EDT version feels lighter, airier, more like a fantasy story in bright ivory motion, this one most definitely to me feels more like the cozy, neutral color saturated elegant space where you read those stories in. Where the vivid visions sprawl to your mind as some more responsible, subtly rooted oneirisms circumscribed by the pleasant limits of old, ethereal time. Early evenings, for me. Books with deceptively uniform, conservative looking covers which hold vast epic wanderings of imagination and various knowledge. Honestly very perfect for if you’re in academia or work in that profession, it gives favorite professor vibes ! Kind, not brusquely pretentious.

If Le Labo Santal 33 is the cool kid who won’t stop talking about their vintage denim collection, Eau Duelle is their older sister who doesn’t need to prove anything. She just shows up, throws on a linen shirt, and somehow looks better than everyone else in the room. The vanilla here isn’t cupcake-sweet — it’s dry, spiced, and grown. Think warm vanilla pods split open on a worn wooden counter, a swirl of cardamom and black tea drifting in the background. There’s incense too, but it whispers instead of shouts, adding just enough smoke to keep things interesting. Wearability is the magic trick: it’s cozy but chic, intimate but still noticeable. Projection is soft-medium — people close to you will catch it, but it won’t bulldoze a room. Longevity is steady, 6–8 hours of that mellow warmth. Overall, this is vanilla that’s not trying to be dessert. It’s a skin-scent veil that feels confident, understated, and timeless — the fragrance equivalent of growing into your own style and realizing you don’t need to chase trends anymore.

One of my favourite vanilla leaning fragrances, which is saying a lot because I do tend to avoid perfumes that are too vanilla-heavy as they turn yuck on my body chemistry. I think the reason why this doesn't do that on me is because there's quite a lot of green notes that cut through any stickiness from the vanilla here. Off the bottle and the testing papers, this to me smells like the sweet powdery residue you get from touching a marshmallow. Yum. On me, the fragrance leans slightly less sweeter than that. It *almost* smells rubbery, similar to idk the powdery residue you get from touching a newly blown up balloon. Eau Duelle is overall a powdery musky vanilla, but just leans slightly more on the powdery musk for me than vanilla. I'm not mad though. I still rate it, especially because I did not expect the longevity of this to last beyond a full working day for me. I could still smell it on my wrists and myself without smelling so up close and concentrating 10+ hours later.

I was not impressed by this on my first wear because I expected something deeper, more woody and resinous, but after wearing it for a little while I have fallen completely in love and already purchased a full bottle. This is a light, warm, herbal vanilla that has a lot of body and sits close to the skin. The extra spice/incense in the EDP version is something you would really only notice if comparing the EDT and EDP side by side. It is a negligible difference, in my opinion, and both versions smell nearly identical to my nose. Vanilla scents are sometimes a gamble, and I am so pleased that this doesn't smell like a syrupy cupcake dessert gourmand. It layers phenomenally with L'Eau Papier to create a warm, bright, clean, subtly sweet scent that is very addicting. There is also something a little bit dry and waxy in this that gives it an old library vibe, or like an old building furnished with solid wood and some herbal tea brewing nearby.

I think I am obsessed with this fragrance. I've never used up a sample so fast and now have a full bottle. I want to roll around in it. I want my bed to smell like this. It's so comforting. It opens very green and herbal. I totally get the comparisons to a sauna, but it's not a hot sauna, more like a newly built sauna. It settles quickly though into powdery, lightly smoky incense, dry, warm vanilla and a veil of antique woods. It definitely brings to mind old libraries, full of wood and whispering pages and memories. And the library is in a forest. There is a very gentle sweetness, but it is in no way a gourmand. I wish it had more projection, it sits close to the skin. But it's so lovely I'm ok with it being my little secret until someone gets close enough. Longevity isn't too bad though, but it is a subtle scent. Personally I will wear it all year, but it definitely gives fall vibes and wouldn't be ideal for high heat.

So beautiful. My favourite scent. It’s a cool, not especially gourmand vanilla, but still distinctively vanilla. There’s something a little floral in this — less bakeries, more like a magical, vanilla-scented plant waving outside your window. The incense is what really makes this special as compared to the EDT — I find the EDT frankly boring and too gourmand in its rendition of vanilla, whilst this is spicy yet cool, fresh and yet warm and comforting. To me, this is not a gourmand; I would wear this all year round. It’s got that fresh Diptyque quality that makes it almost seasonless. For comparison, Lush’s Vanillary is my idea of a winter-only Vanilla — it supposedly has jasmine notes but I would never dare wear something so creamy and nigh lactonic in summer! Duelle is clean, pure, almost laundrylike. It’s perfect. The sillage and longevity leave something to be desired, but I love it anyway.

Myyyy oh my. I love this so much, i wish they sold a 6oz in size bc I know im gonna be religiously wearing it!!! This is such a game changer for any Vanilla leaning perfumes. It is soooo captivating. It's not your typical gourmand, sweet vanilla. Rather, it is smokey, woody, with a tiny hint of pepper on the dry down- without it sacrificing the quality of the smokey vanilla. It's rich, sultry, kind-of dark and mysterious. Personally i wear it day/night time during fall/winter. I rate this 9.1/10. I also dont suggest this will be a safe blind buy, especially if youre looking for "just a vanilla scent period" typa perfume. It is NOT just vanilla. It might surprise you in a bad way, if youre tryna stay away from smokey, woodsy, peppery scents.

This is the fragrance that changed my mind about vanilla fragrances. It’s completely addictive and comforting and a favourite to wear on chilly Winter days. It’s a bit of a sleeper fragrance: feel like it disappears after about the first hour, but then hours later get whiffs of it as I move around. Green, smokey, non gourmand, classy, bit boozy, dark vanilla. Think anyone could wear during colder months. Totally unisex. I think could be too sickly in the heat. Smooth and straight (not too sweet) vanilla dry down. Worth paying extra to get the EDP, although EDT could work better Spring time.. yet to try. Also amazing for layering with other fragrances, i.e L’eau Papier from Diptyque.

The fragrance is incredibly charismatic, enveloping, and utterly addictive. Sexy and alluring for both sexes. The smokiness, balsamic, coniferous, spices, minty juniper, ambroxan, olibanum, tea, bergamot and saffron come together perfectly. The base features soft, cozy vanilla. If it's vanilla, it's quiet, powdery, and never cloying. If it's incense, it's the most delicate kind. If it's a forest, it's only the breath of bark. The only downside is that the scent stays fairly close to the skin. But, to be honest, it doesn’t need to spread very far to make an impression. It has a dark, almost church-like, and deeply seductive character that draws me in again and again🫦

(kind of) blind-bought this after smelling it months ago at NM, where I was captivated with the smell and took a picture to remember. My first day with it, I opened the cap and smelled it, I was immediately met with a dominant, spicy fragrance with a hint of sweetness, if you search for it. I was a little disappointed with what I got and capped it up, before spraying it on me weeks later. On skin it turned much better, and the exact opposite of what was in the cap: a sweet, vanilla with just enough incense and spice to put a spin to it. I would say it’s a very Christmas-y fragrance that I’m glad works with my skin. This might be one of my favorite vanillas yet. 9/10

I. cannot. stop. smelling. myself. Honestly I want 10 bottles of this and then some, just to keep one in every room. Whenever my family complains about my fragrance addiction, I remind them they should really be falling to their knees in gratitude that my passion lies in sniffing perfumes rather than, say, cocaine. Good smells > prison. Speaking of crack, to anyone reading this, do yourself and everyone around you a service and pair eau duelle edp with un bois vanille - serge lutens. I’m not one for miracles, but I believe some matches are downright fated by the heavens, it’s divine intervention captured into two bottles joined on one skin. Seriously do it. 10/10

This is my best vanilla scent. I love angelique noir but not as much as I do for this one. I am yet to sniff Vanille Havane so it’s safe to say this is my fav followed by Tihota Indult. The only reason why I haven’t pulled the trigger on full bottle is because I have the edt and the dry down of lune feline extrait is 90% similar. I have both so I should just save my money. The drawback is the projection. It’s an intimate scent. This scent profile is too divine to just be an intimate scent. I wish it has some form of projection. Anyways, If I need it badly, I’ll order 10ml. It has such an aphrodisiac effect. Gosh! I fell in love with this deep vanillic pudding.

I love this perfume. Very versatile for me, probably not my go to in the height of summer but that's about it. Worn it for evening functions, dates, daytime events and always get compliments. It's sillage isn't aggressive, I prefer this over a huge sillage. It doesn't seem particularly changeable between spraying on my hair/fabric compared to my skin. The vanilla is a dry, mature vanilla rather than sweet, syrupy overwhelming vanilla. I find a lot of vanilla fragrances. Especially when gourmet are too youthful and remind me of flavoured lip glosses or body sprays from the 90s. This feels suitable for me in mid 30s without being old fashioned.

I don't know how I slept on this, being a vanilla lover, but better late than never. This a gorgeous, rich, smoky non-gourmand vanilla that makes me feel enveloped in a lush hug. I have to carry a purse spray because it does lack sillage and longevity, but I'm okay with that, because I'm addicted. I do think it's more of a fall/winter fragrance, but I will be breaking it out on chilly spring days and evenings, and probably even for a summer night at the shore. It's divine. With over 200 bottles, I haven't finished a bottle in years, but this promises to be a contender for that distinction. The man in my life loves it for himself, too.

This reminds me of a rainy october in London circa 2009, going into a cozy café and browsing candle shops. I also read The Secret History after purchasing this, so for me personally it feels very "dark academia". I had a sample of the EDT first, but it strangely smelled like a flowery gin to me; the EDP is smokier and a "dirtier" vanilla. It smells more like a candle incense vanilla, not edible. @Merciln, it's not exactly the same, but Jazz Club is also a smoky vanilla that has impressive longevity. It's a polarizing perfume, as some say it's straight up ashtray, but for me it's vanilla heavy.

Where the EDT is bright and airy, the EDP is solemn and resinous. The same green, aromatic vanilla is there from the start, hand in hand with cedar and cypress, but now wrapped in mineral incense: smoky, ecclesiastic, warm and cold all at once, faintly austere. On skin it wavers between chill and glow, a meditative calm that feels far removed from the EDT’s airy brightness. After an hour the incense softens into the background, and the vanilla with its woody freshness steps forward: green, powdery, quietly luminous. Still darker, more resinous than the EDT, yet unmistakably of the same family.
