Eau Lente Eau de Toilette Diptyque (265780078, 60 ml. left, 50 USD - Tester Bottle) Review, Eau Lente is an powdery amber fragrance, soft balmy (feel like quality smoke of incense) and Carnation. I don't read this as actual smoke of incense. Opening is very enveloping warm sweet spice for 5-10 mins. Very sweet and refreshing in spice way. I really enjoy these Sweet Cinnamon and Spicy Clove top. it's roasted and airy. The scent later on create powdery amber feel and slowly reveal soft floral heart. This is the phase that feels balmy and smooth. I really enjoy. Carnation shows during this phase. There was a moment in heart that warm quality of amber presented but it reversed back to powdery side fast. It's a glimpse. It ends with general soft spicy and floral dry-down quite enjoyable. I do like this enough. It is general propose, lite powdery-amber fragrance. Kind of classic. easy to wear in any occasion. Conclusion (31 December 2024) I personally think that these cinnamon & clove combination transfer to 34 Boulevard Saint Germain Diptyque edt. beautifully. Similar airy manner. That just anchor in Vanilla / Herbaceous base instead of lite transparent Balsam and amber. It is slight more envelop, I will drop Eau Lente from assessment. ==== First Impression. It is really comfort scent. This is more like lite balmy amber fragrance than incense. Very shooting, Opening of Spice mixture is relaxing. As it transit to the heart, I think notice "Citronellol" strongly. I swear, why it so familiar to "Carnation" (Clove + Floral) fragrance that I own? Letter, take a look at Ingredient and it declares a lot of Floral Material. I think I do notice floral in the heart that didn't mention in pyramid. So it feel like either Carnation or Orchid amber fragrance. (In Diptyque website, they refers as Red Tangerine.. understandable) Reminds me a lot of other Balmy Amber fragrance (Tolu, Amber Nuit) But it extremely lite like a sheer skin. I know this is unisex. But the way fragrance develop is really gentle and graceful, slowly develop and transit. Quite a love at first sniff. I really enjoy this... ===== 2-3 hours post wear.. Is is fairy soft and sheer to the skin. And that spicy top long-gone is extremely tint-layer of Opponex. But like, barely noticeable.. there is certain aroma-chemical kind of take over opponex. Or un-sweeten vanilla, I am not sure. But it is indescribable balm that really isn't sweet or spicy either. Soapy.. might be.. Impression drop really fast.. I think I will put this to rest and rewear when fragrance slight more stable. ===== Another Morning I am surprise that this really long lasting, in attached on my skin overnight. And that warm spicy cinnamon still linger. The amber show more slightly. All of this, still work in fairly transparent manner. I am impressed again. I think, I need to be with you a few more wear. A slow burning opoponax and clove bomb. At first i thought it was too clovey, then i thought the citruses were too sharp, then i thought it didnt smell resinous enough, all of these assumptions proven wrong with time. On my parfumo review i wrote about Eau Lente being the perfect example of diptyque’s simplicity: easy to wear, yet quirky enough to set it apart from everything else that smells similar to any given diptyque perfume. I still believe this to be the case. Eau lente was hard for me to grasp, not because it is extremely complex or profound, but because of its quirks like a long lasting clove note and the sharpness of citrus (which is not present in the sillage, it is only there when you put your nose really close to the place you sprayed on). On that note, it has an amazing sillage. Not only does it perform well for diptyque’s standards, especially for an eau de toilette, it also just smells better from afar. It becomes more abstract and well blended when you catch a whiff of it instead of sniffing it consciously. The clove becomes softer, more rounded and powdery while the opoponax adds a beautiful honeyed warmth and an ambery glow to the fragrance. And the drydown is even more beautiful, honestly my favorite part of the fragrance. It becomes softer, of course, without thinning out into a nothingburger musky base. The resinous and balsamic aspects of opoponax become even more pronounced, while the spices move to the background. It becomes slightly vanillic, subtly sweet and just ever so smokey (not an ash tray kind of smoke, a shalimar kind of smoke). It has the texture of a resin that has just freshly leaked off of a tree; sticky and syrupy, embalming everything that it comes in contact with, without ever being too sweet or synthetic. Just like the benzoin in benjoin boheme, the opoponax aspect of the perfume literally behaves as if a piece of resin melts on your skin. It remains slightly spiced throughout, but it definitely doesnt smell like a spice cabinet. It is much more like a chai, without any lactonic aspects. The perfume is not too dense or heavy, yet it is long lasting and pronounced/full of identity. The end result to me, as ive stated in my parfumo review, reminds me of an amber tinted window with sun shining through. This is why this perfume has become a kind of medicine for my winter depression, it just warms you and your soul up. I’ve also already made a scent memory through wearing this during my final french exam, something that made me emotional for reasons not worth mentioning in a review. It does have this meditative aspect to it, and I actually passed all of my exams so it must have something cerebral as well (or i just studied well lol) Anyways, this is definitely one of diptyque’s best. It was hard for me to enjoy at first but definitely keep trying and you will like it more than anything else. Orpheon is nothing compared to this. Scent: 10/10 Longevity:8/10 Sillage: 7/10

Apologies for adding another review rather than editing the others, but I find the 'journeys' that people go on from first whiff interesting and fun to look back on - so ignore this if you don't! However, most of what I wrote previously about Eau Lente was BS (before Shalimar..........) Eau Lente is Mysterious Sensual Reassuring Wholesome Elusive I still love Eau Lente and have decided I will make a purchase soon, but it will be one of 3 perfumes for different occasions. One reviewer remarked it is 'weird stuff for weirdos'! It's so funny and quite true. It's an odd one and Luckyscent candidly admits that is "impossible to define succinctly." Also true, it sort of evades description. I can't really give anyone who hasn't smelled it an accurate description beyond cinnamon, opoponax and vanilla - but that makes it sound like confectionery and yet there is so much more without it being too busy. More pertinent is where and when I would wear it. Occasions when one doesn't want to make waves, like weddings, funerals and court appearances. It melds seemlessly with the scent of sex and is happy close to the skin, but it is not really a sexy smell. Maternal without being frumpy. I would wear it to a christening, an occasion where its wholesome qualities would be most suitable. Eau Lente will get you noticed but no one is going to comment on it - they'd be unsure of what to say! It is beautiful, but again I am not sure in what way. I spray it on and it stays with me, not comforting exactly, more reassuring.

OK, here we go again! It has been a while now alternating between the big THREE Eau Lente, Philosykos and Volutes (have done that one to death in the Volutes section). Eau Lente is sophisticated in the true meaning of the word. Volutes is elegant, Eau Lente is sophisticated. It is more of a natural smell and it is quite sexy. It has become a part of me and can easily be topped up with something fresh like Lush's Ginger or Eau Rose. This comes only in EDT but you would think it is EDP, it goes on and on and keeps on giving! It also has good sillage without overpowering those in the slipstream. Eau Lente is sexy, motherly, feminine (for me at least). It is the smell I want my children to associate with me and my husband to catch when ravishing me! For me it is quite animal, not animalic, but it works well with natural body smells and goes perfectly with the smell of sex...............you all know what I mean! Volutes on the other hand is an 'acquired' smell, something unrelated to skin and body. Volutes makes me feel as though I have been rubbing up to a sexy, stubbly Italian - Oh!! I have: my husband................ Eau Lente is at once a statement and an undercurrent scent, versatile yet a perfect signature. I love it. Putting into words the actual notes in Eau Lente is easy but does it no justice: Cinnamon, Vanilla and something a bit like rubber band at the very end.............but there is so much more, a little fizz somewhere perhaps Cedar and soooo powdery and soft.

Classic and strong: spices, balsamics and old school sweet powderiness. Striking and unbeatable!!!! More substantial fragrance than L'eau and L'eau de L'eau with sweet, woody, creamy, powdery and smoky amber added, while florals and herbal aromatics are removed. Encens Mythique without the ambergris and aldehydes, with even more balsamic creaminess. Good sillage, super long lasting and constantly evolving from spicy balsamics into a sweet powdery woody spicy creamy amber. Very very nice!!!! Super stunning fragrance!!!!!! 😍 During the heart phase of fragrance development on my skin, it really resembled the sweet powdery smell of perfumed red packets given out during Chinese New Year festive season in Chinese communities around the world. It is thus very evocative of the far east orient's spring festival! It conjured up in the mind large blooming peonies, peach blossoms, pussy willows, golden ingots, spring couplets and festive goodies; a happy scent that reminded one of the bountiful life springtime can renew and bestow upon us. The Alexander The Great backstory is very interesting and rather relevant indeed, as he did conquer the east. 😆

How did I miss this ? I have been in the Diptyque store a thousand times and gone through the entire selection over and over (I thought) but managed to miss this one. This is a really lovely scent that comes off first quite spicy and fresh, as it dries down, the cloves and cinnamon gives me Christmas vibes with the opponax giving it that resinous adhesiveness that helps the fragrance to envelope you. 24 hours later, the scent has left my skin but on the card, it is still there as if sprayed only hours ago. I can imagine this will leave wonderful memories on your clothes after you've worn it. The fragrance is relatively linear and the main evolution is that the clean soapy notes become more pronounced, and it leaves you feel feeling clean. It's an unusual fragrance and although I think many will like it, it won't be everyone's go-to-perfume. I see it as something I would want to wear on a winter day, going to a cafe or sitting at home in front of the fireplace with a book. Warm and cozy.

I'm thrilled to finally get my hands on a full bottle of this beauty! I had sampled many times before but it had never climbed to the top of my list. However, Eau Lente had begun to haunt me, it is coming on autumn, and so I felt it was time. The very first experience I had wearing Eau Lente a few years back, it transported me to a little hippie-organic co-op grocery I worked at years ago (before organic food enjoyed the ubiquity at big-box groceries). We sold herbs and spices by weight, refilled by dumping the powdered beauties into oversized mason jars (oh, just recounting that memory makes me swoon!). In the air mingled cinnamon, unnamed other spices, unburned incense, natural soaps in their paper wrappers... Eau Lente is what my hippie-self would have worn 20 years ago, had I been able to afford it. It is beyond perfect for cool weather, and seems to be just obscure enough that I would be surprised to smell it on others; this one is just for me.

Warm-yummy-woodsy-spicy-New Mexico Pine...delicious! I love it. Long lasting AT LEAST 14 hours...woke up to it's delicious fragrance. Love it!!! I'm usually not one to wear spicy scents, but my gosh, I couldn't get enough of this addictive scent. Unlike some others, I did not find the cinnamon to pop out in the beginning, though it was quite spicy for 10 minutes or so. PLEASE give it an hour to reveal itself before judging. Try a small dab before going to bed and you will wake up with a most intoxicatingly beautiful scent. I found it to be a balanced composition, pleasant from beginning to end. The drydown is warm, comforting, soothing,sweet, and creamy. Sillage is moderate, never overpowering on me. Enjoy friends! Erin

Spicy potpourri in the best way possible - I absolutely love it! Eau Lente is a bit like Shalimar, but only if you extracted the spice and resins. While I think it's best suited for colder seasons (that I do not get here in Southeast Asia), the lack of animalics make it very suitable for the hot and humid weather that I live in. It can be a bit suffocating if you overdo it but the dry down is to die for. The warmth of the fragrance is akin to sipping spiced rum and feeling it warm you from inside out. With it being a boutique-only fragrance, it is easily overlooked by Diptyque's more popular offerings, but it's definitely one of my favourites from Diptyque.

During my shopping trip last month, I passed by a Diptyque boutique and got a chance to sample their fragrance line. Eau Lente is one of the scent that give me a wash of nostalgia - the warmth of spice and opopnax smell just like the fancy bar of soap my family used to receive as gift from relative, rich and comforting. Although what lasted several day on a testing strip only stayed about 5-6 hours on my skin, I still bought a full bottle with a good discount and will enjoy the scent all year long!

Mi piace moltissimo, anche se devo dire che apprezzo soprattutto le note di cuore. Infatti l'apertura è gradevole seppur molto pungente, una cannella e dei chiodi di garofano intensi. Dopo poco, le note speziate si quietano, senza sparire, e - a mio parere - è il momento in cui diventa un profumo superbo, coniugando perfettamente resina calda e spezie. In chiusura diventa dolcissimo, addirittura vanigliato, le spezie scompaiono e la resina si sente appena, e lo trovo non troppo gradevole.

Was visiting Paris, so I went to the Diptyque flagship store on saint germain 34 boulevard. Out of all the fragrances I sampled, this one stood out to me the most for it’s uniqueness. The price was fair, I’ve seen it sold for much higher in my home country and they don’t even have this scent available. My sister said the scent reminds her of pumpkin spice lattes. To me I first thought of tigerbalm. This is incredibly spicy, perfect for fall. The bottle is stunning.

I think this is THE ONE! I thought it would be Volutes, and then maybe Philosykos but Eau Lente is my hot favourite.......receipt of L'Eau and L'Autre will be the decision breaker. Where do I begin? It has all the things I love; warm spiciness, sweetness, creaminess, a bit balmy with what I can only describe as 'fizziness' somewhere after the initial spices. The only thing that would improve it is some more of that fizziness or a little sharpness.

wonderfull, masterpiece.Not easy to wear, because of the high level of cinnamon, cloves and spice, especially in the opening. But don't forget the name of this one : L'eau lente. If you wait the drydown, it becomes softer, magic and addictive, warm and almost vanillic... Dedicated to boys and girls, very good longevity and sillage, two sprays a day is enough.. Eloge de la lenteur, car il faut laisser du temps au temps. 10/10

My favorite from Diptyque. This perfume really sets you in a space where time doesn't exist. Not a crowd pleaser, girls at uni and at work hated it, but for me it's such a joy to wear it (not to disturb them of course :p). I find it very sensual, vintage, different from what I have smelled. If you like complex fragrances, give it a try while you can. 9/10 in my humble opinion.

This smells like a milder version of the old Cinnabar, to me. I like to wear it in the fall and winter. It definitely smells like a cashmere sweater feels- it is the coziest scent I own. Like a spiced drink with lots of cinnamon and a hint of amber and vanilla. It doesn’t smell anything like Shalimar or many of the scents listed - it isn’t a dark amber scent and has no citrus.

I love cinnamon and spice, but this was too much for me. It reminded me of the red hots candy-even though it wasn't exactly sweet. The cinnamon just wouldn't quit on me, that's about all I got from Eau Lente. I did like this a lot when I first tested it, but since trying this I've found my favorite spice which is Kenzo Jungle l'Elephant. Eau Lente would be fabulous on a man.

My weekend scent. Perfect for a long morning in bed with a cafe au lait. It's mysterious, relaxing, warm, sensual. Like a few others, I do smell a touch of vanilla which is fantastic with the cinammon/clove mix and not at all cloying. I don't think it smells "masculine" on me at all, and I'm not normally into unisex scents.

Nothing floral or powdery listed but for me it both of these things in addition to the listed notes, especially powdery. It's very nice, but smells a bit like ancient soap, not sure if I can wear it easily. I have a vintage, square bottle. Update: what was I thinking? This is incredible! If you like spices, this is a must

Oh, Eau Lente! The design of the bottle is reminiscent of the art of Aubrey Beardsley, and the perfume itself also just screams fin de siecle to me. Powdery incense, smooth cinnamon and a definite vintage feel. This is what I imagine Oscar Wilde to have smelled like.

Why is there clove note that isn't listed by diptyque, while the red mandarin is omitted, even though it is an official note and a verified ingredient, on top of being easy to smell in the scent?

It's like a cross between 8 88 and Fate Woman, but lighter than both of those. I have a vintage bottle, not sure what the new one is like.

Absolutely my favourite fragrance... The Diptyque Maison's Masterpiece at all! Can't live without this amazing perfume! A MUST HAVE!

This review is based on a sample of the latest reformulated version of this fragrance. I tried Eau Lente on my skin the first time few days ago and had mixed feelings about the scent. My first impression with it was something delicious but then all of a sudden the image of a dentist office flashed in my mind reminding me the taste of something the dentist would put in my mouth after I got my teeth cleaned. It was nothing bad but I thought it was strange to have a fragrance that reminded me of the dentist office though. The fragrance was very balsamic and powdery probably because of the very intensive Opoponax note throughout. The spices in it made the fragrance very aromatic and quite strong to my nose as well. It smelled wonderful from the beginning to the end of the heart but took a turn at its dry down. To me the dry down was the part that I liked the least as the scent became a bit waxy and made me think of something synthetic unlike the more natural feel at the opening and the heart. The fragrance in general is quite good but would be excellent if the dry down were not so synthetic and waxy smelling. The SA at the Diptyque store did mention to me that Eau Lente in fact went through a reformulation due to regulations on using certain ingredients; however, I thought the hot weather in where I live now might have affected how I felt about Eau Lente as well. I would definitely give Eau Lente another try in the cooler months to see if there are much difference and whether I should add it to my collection then.

A scent from the past Diptyque's journey and region-inspired scent library is a unique concept in its own way. But recreating scents based on historical accounts is in a totally different world, in my opinion. As historical accounts go, Pedanius Dioscorides, a physician, pharmacologist and botanist (c. 40-90AD), wrote De Materia Medica in his native Greek - Opoponax is described in it several times for its "medical properties". Whether or not Alexander the Great or his generals enjoyed the scent that Eau Lente is today I'll leave up to you to decide. But I will say that I have struggled to find an incense or myrrh-based scent that reminds me of anything close to Orthodox incense. The sweet, baby-powder like scent of opoponax, spices and cinnamon are very strongly reminiscent of Orthodox Church incense. To me the scent instantly conjures up images of ancient Greece, Byzantine churches and indeed the landscape of a once Imperial Empire. Don't get me wrong though. Eau Lente is not everyone's cup of tea. You could easily mistake this for a sweet incense scent; it's simplicity is what is most notable as is the quality of the ingredients. I would struggle to wear this at times, but perhaps my most envisaged moment would be to church during Holy Week. Those who like Eau Duelle's mystical vanilla or Tam Dao's woody-ambery base could easily be seduced by Eau Lente's powdery-soapy trail. May your journey through history be as fragrant as the churches of Mystra!

First impression: heavy clove and styrax? Ugh it's potent for an EDT. After 30 minutes: "oooh this is sexy and resinous and peppery and smokey" After 1.5 hours on the skin: ...I swear this is pumpkin spice latte. If you layer this with Tilda "like this" I think it's called (with it's pumpkin note) from LDO I would believe you worked at Starbucks and it was faux-yoga-pants-PSLatte season. It's beautiful but mature. I would definitely call this "Libertine Masculine" and definitely unique as a signature. Suitable for the office or a formal event, not sure I can pull it off casually. Scent 7/10 unique, memorable, a little mysterious and well blended if you like opoponax. If you like JXXV from Amouage, you may love this. Projection: 6/10 for the first hour then anout a 4/10 from hours 2-3, then a 3/10 from hour 4+ Sillage: 8/10 this left a monster train behind me that whipped heads around...for the first 30 minutes max, after that if you aren't trying to pick my pocket you can't smell it as I walk by. Longevity: 6/10 I got a full 6 hours though the last few were certainly just a skin scent on me. Would I buy a full bottle: after this decant? Yes I probably will. I'm not over the moon but when I want a hit of JXXV without all the fanfare, I may reach for this. I find it to be more formal then Jubilation XXV actually because of it's directness.

This perfume is not for everyone, for developed nose only. Many reviewers say - it's soapy... Yes, but think about Why soap has a hint of Diptyque Eau Lente or Aqua di Parma, more over Creed GIT... Because they established the standards long time ago.., many imitators tried to produce something similar. But, brands mentioned above are still unique. Only newcomer can say - there is no difference between GIT and Cool Water. The same about Diptique parfumes. Eau Lente and L’Eau are from Diptyque’s glory years; their “ancient” and “antique” characters make bold statements. If someone passes by me with this smell in the street, I definitely turn my head toward him or her ))) Sure, every "parfumista" must have. Notes - perfectly described in previous reviews. i would add, for amber lovers, even amber is not in pyramid, beautiful amber is in the sillage, delicate amber, amber for summer and spring. This is sophisticated fragrance for spring and summer, what is difficult to find - not simple, not just citruses and not long lasting as majority of light frags, not boaring. Probably, due to it's "soapy amber" is suitable for warm and hot season, complex fragrance. It's for funs of Annick Goutal (Ambra Fetiche for cold season), Creeds lovers, MDCI Chypre Palatine, Clive Christian X, C... Very recommended, pleased yourself.

This is my favourite perfume from the Diptyque house. Warm, spicy, resinous, historical. This smells like you're having bird's eye view over a thriving ancient civilization and immersing in its grand ambience. I find most cinnamon perfumes cloyingly gourmand, but this one brings in non-gourmand cinnamon as a side character rather than let it overtake the other notes in the composition. I do think this is better smelled than worn cuz it's too strong for daily use, but as long as you're mindful, you'll be fine. I'd wear it to the library or museum, maybe to lectures too if I’m feeling it. Silage is strong with slight trail, and longevity is about 4 hours on my skin (typical Diptyque longevity). Truly unisex, preferably worn during day times, a fall/winter scent. Most Diptyque reviews have associated Eau Duelle with the dark academia aesthetic. But to me, Eau Lente belongs to an Ivy League history student who is fascinated with the Roman Empire, can always be found at the library at any time of the day reading Latin scriptures, prefers tea over coffee, and is involved in an exclusive History society where everyone slowly dissociate and lose themselves into the past. This is a larger-than-life perfume for the academic maniacs who find traces of themselves in the shadow of time.

Fatal weakness! (That's Eau Lente, not me.) It's just lovely - all the spices I revel in the most, in proportions which create a beautiful burnt-orange aura of safety and sweetness - heaping helpings of cinnamon, but just a touch of the often-bullying clove and nutmeg and pepper - without ever smelling 'culinary' or gourmand, just organically woody and warm. Beautiful and comforting. Maybe a touch too safe and sweet to really sweep me off my feet, but a huge pleasure to spend time with. But there's the rub. Then ... in less than 90minutes ... it's all over. Not a whiff not a waft. Not even a trace. Just gone. Another wildly frustrating example of Diptyque making scents I love that start ecstatic, then go evanescent. What a shame....

It smells lovely, but for me it seems a bit too foody, actually it mostly reminds me of the cinnamon bubble gum, I do enjoy it, but I wouldn't like to smell like this, the main note on my skin definitely is cinnamon, it even seems that it's the only note i'm feeling. It reminds me a lot of Les Nereides Imperial Opoponax, I really find them both to be the same, although Eau Lente is a bit sweeter and warmer. Reminds me a lot of Christmas and this might be a lovely thing to wear in a cold weather. The perfume it self is kinda inviting and sexy, I wonder how this would smell on a man.

Gosh, this is weird. I have a sample and I try it now and then, only to end up very confused. The opening is a bit harsh, cloying, violently vintage. Then I forget it and I find myself asking: what's this smell? I like it. It's the drydown. Very clean, pleasant, but still very vintage, the kind of scent I could easily smell on some elderly aunts. Overall, a good scent, I'm not sure it's for me but I think it could be more portable layering it with a more modern fragrance, I.e. leather or vanilla.

Being a cinnamon lover, I couldn't dislike this perfume. The cinnamon is the strongest note in the bunch, lasting from start till finish. There is also a vanillic quality to it, making it calming and comforting. However, the whole combination ends up giving me very strong 'men's aftershave' vibes and it's the aftershave rather than the men's in it that bothers me and makes it not FB worthy for me. Lasting power is pretty good on me, 6 hours and counting.

Deeply balsamic resinous with a taste of Christmas spice, a bit of incense in the back to round it out. I recommend this one for people looking for an amber that is not heavy on the vanilla or benzoin. Opoponax has a similar but distinct character to it, I find it darker but ultimately more interesting. Not entirely my cup of tea, but certainly an often overlooked offering from a great house.

I get Coca Cola vibes but a grown up, artisanal version. Beautiful blend of spices. It gets a bit savory on the dry down which is interesting. Definitely warm and bold without being in your face. The clove note is definitely more prominent as it dries down. Very seductive scent. Quite masculine and mysterious, I enjoy wearing it.

I was disappointed. I like cinnamon, but unfortunately not from Diptyque. This faded to a skin scent on me after 1.5 hours. I did not find the incense in this at all. I smell some watered down spices, a dousing of cinnamon and some vanilla-like quality to it. I expected more.

Very curious fragrance, unique, I think, I love it, but it is not my style. I am cold style, this has warm blood. Simple the best cinnamon fragrance without sugar ever. Anyone wants swap the 100 ml bottle, 95 ml full? I would like something on my want list for it.

Today I wore Lente in the 35C heat with high humidity and it performed so beautifully well. I kept getting a whiff of ambery vanilla that was modestly present. So far I like this scent. I will give this scent a couple more wears to test it further.

you can feel the age of this perfume more than l'eau. it does smell old school/vintage, but still wearable and good. just less so than l'eau which is very timeless. smoked cloves & cinnamon, resinous musk.

i need to retry because i like l'eau and i like the notes. however, smelling this blind i just got a general gray calmness rather than christmas accord, cinnamon, or reisin.

It smells vintage as it smells like the Imperial Leather soap. I love the scent but my husband hates it. The scent is comforting.

I don't like the cinnamon, but the opoponax is really warm and this lasts really long.

Spicy, yes, but not the kind that wraps around you—more like a faded memory of warmth. The cinnamon is there, dry and a little dusty, not sharp, not fiery, just... present. Myrrh does help in adding a resinous hum, a touch of something antique, but it never really deepens. It’s like it wants to be mysterious, to evoke candlelit temples and aged wooden chests, but is just painfully too sheer, too fleeting. The warmth flickers but never fully glows. And as it settles, it somehow softens even more, fading into the background as something mildly sweet, mildly woody, mildly familiar. Not quite an incense scent, not quite a spice scent—this is simply a vague, warm impression that never fully takes shape. It’s okay, wearable, just another one of Diptyque's offerings that doesn't leave much of a mark.

Lemony resin and clove opening. The clove has a slightly mentholated and strongly peppery aroma. I do get some cinnamon but the clove is dominant in the opening. Light but with a rich base, this scent smells like a translucent piece of amber. The oppoponax really shines in this - it's stunning and I keep sniffing my wrists. There's a touch of Johnson's baby shampoo in the clean powdery, almost floral (jasmine) side of this scent. Unfortunately this powdery / baby shampoo side gets stronger in the drydown. It's still a lovely scent but I miss the clear, strong clove-lemon-oppoponax. I'd like to get at least a decant of this scent though.

A balsamic fragrance on the edge of perfumery and a sense of physical place like a spice store. The cinnamon is not sweet. On my skin, the scent feels like it lives on its own, a little peppery

A very vintage scent but one that is more reminiscent of the era than of your grandma. Spicy, but light and clean. The incense comes across quite powdery for me.

Smelled incensey and ambery at first, but all that lingers now after 24 hrs is cinnamon spiciness and powdery seduction. It's sweet, luxurious, and cute.

Olfactive Diary Entry #47 I've been testing Eau Lente on paper and adore the scent, especially the dry down. On paper, it's a soft, powdery musk with medicinal or earthy undertones, providing just the right balance of airiness and body. It's wearable, unisex, and oh, so likeable. I immediately considered adding it to my perfume wishlist, but that all changed after testing it on my skin. I couldn't believe the transformation! On my wrist, the scent quickly morphed into a savory, cumin curry with a dash of funky sweat. Absolutely horrid! Not unisex at all anymore, now it's giving sweaty-male-chef-at-a-spicy-indian-restaurant-riding-the-subway-home-after-a-18-hour-shift-in-a-kitchen-with-no-ventilation-having-worn-the-same-t-shirt-for-several-shifts. I waited for it to dry down completely and wore it for the rest of the day, hoping it would magically transform to the scent I fell in love with on paper, but sadly, it never happened. I don't know if this happens to everyone or if it's just an unlucky pairing with my skin chemistry, but as much as I love Diptyque and respect them for keeping this 80's fragrance in production, I will definitely stay far away from this one.

Oh no...just not for me. Received this fragrance in a recent sampler of Incense Fragrances. Incense? Perhaps I'm missing something but this fragrance has little to do with incense, IMHO. Cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves...not in a good way. Smells like Glade Air Freshener, yes the cinnamon type. Thankfully, it all fades away within 45-60 minutes. Uggggh. Not sure who would want to walk around smelling like this.

I made the bad decision of using this perfume on a hot spring day. I thought it would be a good sweet smell for the day, but honestly, it feels dated, mature and cloying. It gave me mild nausea. I will re-try in the winter, but so far it’s unfortunately a no from me.
