OK I worked on this review for a while but I'm just not bothered anymore as I no longer feel so emotionally connected to the scent. without further ado here it is: 'Where to start. A letter to he who wears Eau Rihla. Can I just start by saying this smells a million times more interesting sweet and memorable than TF TV. I don't think Diptyque ripped TF at all. This fragrance is effeminate and sweet. It doesn't scowl at you like TV does. You only need one spray, two if you're feeling really crazy. Truthfully you probably only need two sprays weekly. It is truly eternal. I would spray it on the collar of my shirt at his house and the smell would linger for weeks if not months. The scent of the dry down just gets better, rounder, over time. THIS scent is absolutely beast mode. It smells like sharing a punnet of raspberries with someone who could potentially love you. This fragrance lets people know you’re more worldly or whatever than them because you have to go to New York or some shit to get it. One can only wonder of someone whose signature scent is Eau de Rihla what their signature was before it. Surely they just spawned from the primordial soup smelling like that....' I used to find this scent really fresh but now when I am around this person who wears it strictly, the peppery smell is overpowering and it sort of smells like cigarettes or dry, hot ground. I will say it is definitely "hot". it's pink peppercorn for god's sake. this scent will /not/ deceive anyone of the wearer's Psychorigidité. it's good for men who think they are better than others but don't want to assert it too overtly. like him, memory of eau rihla pulversises in its absence. I stand by my claims about its longevity, however...

Eau Rihla by Diptyque takes the wearer on a warm and introspective journey, inspired by desert landscapes. I have a simple fondness for this fragrance while I don’t love it, I do find it intriguing and thoughtfully composed. The notes that stand out the most to me are saffron, leather, and raspberry. It opens with a dry, spicy saffron that immediately sets an exotic tone, blending seamlessly into a heavy, smoky leather heart softened by a juicy hint of raspberry. What lingers most impressively is the powerful combination of saffron and leather, which leaves a long-lasting imprint on the skin and gives the scent a bold, luxurious depth. The base, built on cedarwood, vanilla, and a subtle musk, adds warmth and smoothness. Eau Rihla performs beautifully: it’s undeniably long-lasting, and its sillage is strong and commanding without being overwhelming. However, in my opinion, it is too heavy to serve as a signature scent. Its intensity and richness make it more suitable for special occasions or colder evenings. Despite lacking oud, the hallmark of many Arabic fragrances, it remarkably captures the spirit of Middle Eastern perfumery, evoking a deep, smoky elegance that feels both regal and nostalgic. This is a fragrance with presence, character, and undeniable storytelling power. I’d rate it 6.7 out of 10.

Handsome, brooding leather with a cheeky pinch of raspberry. The sugar daddy to Babycat, the hot professor to Bibliotheque, or perhaps the masc evolution of Black Saffron. It’s dapper, smoky, undeniably luxurious. It smells like a leather briefcase full of fat stacks of cash. Fortunately, the raspberry and pepper are just sharp enough to keep all the leather and saffron from crushing you under its huskiness. Lingers on skin for a day and clings to fabric for a week. I spray this in my ‘07 Prius and imagine I’m piloting a freshly-detailed vintage 911. (And one spray is all you need, trust me). Hey, $300 scented water vs a new car. It’s a fiscally-responsible choice. Mental Snapshot: A scenic travel montage in a Bond film. You’re travelling somewhere ~exotic~. There’s a sepia filter applied. You’re canoodling in the back of a private jet, on the deck of a speedboat, deep within the sculpted leather cavern of a limo. He feeds you a single raspberry. tl;dr: moneybags 💼💰

I love this perfume. What attract me first was the name and its meaning. Eau Rihla (meaning journey). So I was excited to discover it. First of all it came in the most insane lush leather looking box..just unpacking it felt special..I was already on a high..then the artwork on the bottle, bringing you the imagery of the smell..in a warm mysterious desert scenery. On the first spritz, it’s a fresh opening with a hint of raspberry but soon become mysterious with the leather but not dirty leather, clean but still powdery where you just want more..Anyway I never go over 3 sprays and it lasted me all day with every time someone came near me, they would comment on how nice my perfume was. It is my favourite Diptyque at the moment and I could feel it becoming a signature smell. Not sure how it will behave with warm temperatures..as I prefer fresher smell when it’s hot, to cool my spirit down..But maybe when the sun goes down in summer, it will still be perfect.

Definitely a leather fragrance, but the raspberry sings over the top of the fragrance throughout the wear and it adds such a unique finish to this scent. The iris and raspberry keep the oud from becoming too heavy or overpowering. It smells like the large walk-in closet or wardrobe which is made of rich, dark wood. There the scent of classic iris colognes and perfumes linger with the smell of leather belts and shoes. I've enjoyed wearing this so much, it's become one of the signature scents my friends associate with me (without me even planning for it to become such a daily staple). I think this would work great for both men and women - it's a very unique, but still professional scent - it doesn't draw people in intimately - it asserts its confidence in other ways. Great longevity, sillage, and projection - this one doesn't budge & can snag compliments.

I got a sample of this when I bought L'eau Papier. Absolutely love this scent. The leather is so nice and it remains throughout wearing it. In my opinion, it is similar vibe to Delphinus by Creed and Babycat by YSL. However, those two, I feel dry down into more of a vanilla-y scent and this one, keeps the leather and the iris makes it more floral and soft. There is of course, still vanilla there at the base but I think on the dry down it stays more nuanced than the others. Definitely one of my favourite scents now. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. I'm not sure why it's more expensive than other Diptyque EDPs. At £230 it is about £70 than my bottle of Philosykos EDP and nearly £130 than my L'eau Papier (but that's an EDT so it's to be expected). Guess I better start saving.

So this is an interesting perfume. At first glance I thought I was smelling Louis Vuitton's 'Nouveau Monde' or a softer version of 'Ombre Nomade'. I went home and compared my sample with the Louis Vuitton perfumes and I find that the same oud-vanilla-saffron accord is there too. What I find particularly interesting is that almost 24 hours later, the woody notes are settled, mellowed even, and the floral fruity notes of iris and raspberry are still there and tones down the perfume making it a very delicious fragrance with hints of leather - I can see where the other reviewers relate this to Tuscan Leather but this is not the same smell. I am definitely going to revisit this perfume because I think it has great potential. This is a long lasting perfume.

Another excellent balancing act from Diptyque. This leather isn't too rough or soft, too sweet or bitter, too round or sharp. It sits neutral without being void of character. It's buttery smooth, realistic, and refined. Though I think leather focused fragrances tend to generally be more masculine leaning. Eau Rihla (imo) is among that group of fragrances I think truly worthy of the popular "unisex" designation. I can see this convincingly becoming its wearer be they male or female. My 2nd purchase from the house following Oud Palao, and Ive been pleased with their offerings so far. It's not a new profile but the quality and unique spin with iris and vanilla are subtle distinguishing marks. And it performs well. Very nice!

I received a sample at the Diptyque salon in Warsaw. The fragrance starts very sweet - raspberry with an intriguing harshness, the first noticeable note after raspberry is saffron for me. It has that typically Middle Eastern, spice character. The drydown goes in the direction of sweetness, but not flooding. It has similarities to Tom Ford Ombre Leather, however, the leather there is black, of the kind used to make handbags, the leather in Eau Rhila is much rougher - trying to visualize it I see more brown suede. Overall a great fragrance. I was positively surprised by the longevity - about 10 h on the body and strongly noticeable on clothes the next day.

This is my favorite leather fragrance. For me, it's a fantastic base for more fruity scents to male them more mysterious and sexy. I will layer this under beast mode frags like Erba Pura (essentially getting Erba Gold), under Creed Carmina (this combo is dangerous-get ready to grab some attention), or under Initio Atomic Rose. When I want this vibe but not as bold, I reach for Byredo Black Saffron. They are very similar leather/raspberry scents but Eau Rihla is much denser, where Black Saffron is more airy and light. In summer or spring, I'll reach for Black Saffron but in cooler weather, I prefer Eau Rihla.

This is the most beautiful leather fragrance that I've smelled. I originally tried Tom Ford's Ombre Leather and it took me a bit to get into it, but I eventually enjoyed it also. But Eau Rihla has a sweetness from the raspberry and vanilla that just makes it much more complex and uplifting than the leather bomb that is OL. I got a sample with another Diptyque order and immediately wanted to get a bottle. The longevity is insane and you only need 2 sprays max. This is the only perfume I have that lasts so long, especially on clothes. And it works best in cold weather. It can be overpowering in the summer heat

At first it’s so overwhelming, but every single time I smell this I exponentially like it more. I’m really loving it now, and probably will buy a bottle very soon. Might overwhelm some people around you but, I think most will actually love it. It’s really beautiful, and has become a top 10 for me. Yes, it’s similar to the Tom ford leathers, but to me this sits so much better on skin, and the blend is smoother. The leather somehow isn’t intruding on those around you, it’s soothing and sexy. And the DRYDOWN is maybe my favorite I’ve smelled so far? I really wasn’t a fan of leather fragrances until this one.

My first time enjoying a leather note. It's like, leather that's been left out in the sun all day. Such warmth. It's being out on a ranch, and there's fruit juice residue on sticky fingers from scarfing down a handful of berries, then wiping fuscia stains on saddle leather. When I smelled it at the store, I didn't immediately think I would wear it myself, but I couldn't stop inhaling, and was convinced (easily) to purchase. On a strip, the leather note lasts longer, but on me, the sweetness of berry is intensified. So soft, so warm, so lovely. An instant top five candidate, I'd say.

At last a perfume from Diptyque that has longevity and sillage. I absolutely love it, it’s the perfect balance between musky leather, iris and raspberry - it’s elegant, fresh, modern yet classic. In the Fall it will be even better, but it works great in the summertime as well. Overall I’ll likely layer it with my Tam Dao which is my most favorite scent ever (minus its non-existant sillage/longevity on skin). Rihla last a few hours before you will want to re-spray -however unlike Tam Dao, it’s enough to do 1-2 sprays . Absolutely love the tester, will probz buy a full bottle.

I stopped by Dyptique to check what they had (re)released for summer. This stood out to me on the paper but it is even better on skin. It pulls quite raspberry and leather heavy, but somehow still feels like something that could be worn in the summer. I would love to own this, but unfortunately I already have a full bottle of Frau Tonis Vild, which feels extremely similar and can't justify Eau Rihla's price point if it is not a standout in the collection. I do prefer this to Vild as it pulls a bit more raspberry and a bit less leather on me, making it more femme but alas...

This is my favorite blend among all the similar scents I've owned with this profile (Memo Retba, L'Artisan Parfumeur Cuir Grenat, and Byredo Black Saffron). I sold the others, except Black Saffron, which is a lighter less dense version better for warmer weather imo. I adore this perfect balance of a classy, refined leather, raspberry and saffron experience. I wear it alone but love to layer this under other fragrances to give them depth. With Eau Rihla as the perfect base, I layer fragrances like Xerjoff Erba Pura or Creed Carmina. Give it a try if you have any of these!

Very soft and approachable unlike other leather fragrances. This uses a cedar note to take place of the leather, as Diptyque does not use synthetic oils. The leather is quite woody, however the powdery iris shadows that and makes it smell less piny. The raspberry does not have a plastic or jam tinge, rather it is more of an essence. Think of water with raspberries in it left overnight, that is how the raspberry presents itself in this fragrance. I definitely prefer it over Tuscan Leather, which can be quite offensive and nauseating if worn improperly.

Quite surprised by this. Maybe the best out of all "Tuscan Leather-y" attempts. By the way, it has nothing to do with Ombre Leather. I used to wear TF's TL fanatically, of course my tastes have changed since then, but if someone would introduce me to this back then, I would wear this instead of TL. Imho if I would rank all other attempts including this one the list would be (in order): Eau Rihla, Suede et Safran, Cuir Grenat, Black Saffron, and last the sloppy Godolphin attempt. Eau Rihla wins in every aspect. Price, ingridients, blend & price.

I thought this smelled absolutely nasty on a tester strip, like plastic and leather. But on my skin it is just soooo luxurious and gorgeous. Leather with something peppery and delicious blended in. I can’t stop smelling myself. Diptyque never misses!! It's a bit masculine, with a hint of petrichor. I'm so obsessed. It is strong though, you have to be careful! This is a two-spray max perfume and it lasts FOREVER. Like, I’ve sprayed it on my clothes and they come out of the laundry STILL smelling like Eau Rihla.

Been testing this, and ah, I want to melt into this perfume. Reminds me of my childhood in Qatar/Arabia, strolling through the malls & catching a sniff here and there. What a beautiful name too: Rihla (journey in Arabic), really apt for this perfume. It takes you on a journey through Arabia. Gonna get a full a bottle insha'allah (god willing) on a special day. If you are on a budget do checkout Ajmal Purely Orient Saffron it is 50% similar in its feels to this. Due to the similar Raspberry/Saffron top note.

Diptyque Eau Rihla: My signature scent, of course like every scent it is not for everyone, this however smells and blends into what I am into, leather jackets, grunge aesthetic, biker boots, knife carrying. Very masculine fragrance with a note of sweetness that gives it that nice balance. 10/10 I mean this is what a fragrance should be, it should be complex but good smelling, it should be sexy, masculine with a bit of an edge to it, very good highly on my all time list

This.... is what I hoped Bibliotheque would be. I enjoy that scent as well but the fruit is a bit too cloying and the leather is not as rich. I was afraid that the raspberry note would fade over time, but it really stuck around until the end! Projection is impressive, I tested 1 dense spray on an arm and caught full whiffs of it for the next 4-5 hours. The iris adds a lovely softness. It's warm and sweet and buttery but definitely unisex.

A thick suede glove stained with raspberries and peat whisky. Initial fruity accord weakens rather quickly, and on me, after about two hours, the scent takes on more aggressive character – leather completely dominates the picture and in that phase lasts for about 6 hours. Vanilla enters right at the end, softening the scent again. This is a wild ride. Captivating, unisex scent without any trace of sweetness - for a dominatrix.

I bought this while traveling and discovered only later that rihla means travel or journey in Arabic. It was love at first smell. I was told it is not popular or a fan favorite, and as I understand why, those are usually the fragrances I go for. This blend of raspberry and leather is sublime, very smooth, dry and warm. Diptyque always delivers perfectly balanced, long lasting EDPs and Eau Rihla is no exception.

This would be my second if I could have two signature fragrances listed. I love the round richness of this fragrance. On my skin, I get waves of sharp, peppery spices surrounded by a cloud of deep incense. Leather is not prominent at all, and raspberry adds a touch of much-needed sweetness. I can smell it on me all day, which happens super rarely, and my colleagues compliment me on it all day. Love!

I'm a fan of leather fragrances and I've tried many. Eau Rihla is my #1. Intoxicating, attention-getting but smooth as silk blend with the pink pepper and raspberry. 10/10 scent for me. Top marks for performance as well. Mainly unisex, but not in a way that neutralizes gender. I think this scent would amplify the wearer's expression of gender, depending on who's wearing it and how / when it's worn.

This is a masterpiece. It feels like home when I wear it. Supple leather, dried raspberry, and whispers of saffron and vanilla mingle to create possibly one of the most effective leather fragrances in the market. This has excellent longevity and sillage and is a compliment magnet. Might not be a safe blind buy but if you smell it I guarantee you will fall in love with it.

Disliked at first, it opens up over time and completely seduces. A complex and intriguing leather fragrance; wearing it is definitely a journey (what the name suggests). I wear it together with Eau Duelle EDT for sweeter finish - highly recommend this combination. Brings out the best of both of them. Excellent packaging, story, vibe, deepness.

This is absolutely stunning. If you are looking for a raspberry leather fragrance, go with this over TL or anything else. This is so smooth, so delicate, it is remarkable. Projection and longevity are also very solid. This makes TL look rough and unbalanced. I think this is Diptyque’s best fragrance so far.

I absolutely loved the leather note in this! The perfume overall is sophisticated, layered and so nuanced. It dries down as a powdery, somewhat sweet but still very leathery/oudy scent, it's a perfect balance. I wasn't expecting so much from it but it was a very pleasant surprise.

I really like this, but it is essentially a smoother version of TF Tuscan leather. I wore each on each wrist and at first I couldn't tell the difference; after 30 mins the Diptyque was softer whilst the TF had some harsher note in it. Both fantastic but you dont need both of them

I already own Tuscan Leather and Ombre Leather... So I purchased the body balm of Eau Rihla 😅 What I love about the body balm is that it can pass as wearing fragrance (which is also true for my beloved Fleur de Peau)🤩 Edit: I caved and purchased the bottle. It's damn gorgeous! 🫶

I get red-fruity leather right off the rip. More saffron comes out in the mid. On me, the dry down is a quiet leather. I went to the Diptyque store looking for something else but walked out with this one. I don't normally like strong leather fragrances, but this one is a Love.

Gorgeous scent, I am not sure how the perfume has leather, vanilla and warm spices yet feels so fresh and is wearable in warmer weather. Easily one of my top ten, difficult to find though and price is to expensive considering its a 75m. Unfortunately it barely last 2-3 hours.

Raspberry note is airy, sweet but not jammy. Leans more feminine than Tuscan Leather. I did not want to believe at first that it is Diptyque's as it does not carry the typical Diptyque's DNA. Longevity is moderate. The name and packaging are gorgeous.

Fruity leather!!! The perfect feminine leather scent. My nose was practically glued to my arm when I sampled this. Beware, as this is a beast and probably isn't the most crowd-pleasing because of the dominance of the leather.

One of the smoothest leathers on the market. The raspberry gives it just enough sweetness and the saffron gives it depth. One of the best performers for Diptyque as well. Super sexy and seductive. Totally recommend.

Sexy and intriguing. Manly in an upscale, elegant way. The raspberry note adds the perfect touch of sweetness in this rugged composition. Smells like a mature, confident, 6'2” man in the dead of winter.

I have it and I love it but all my friends think that I am wearing Tuscan leather. Yes there is some similarity but the big difference is that this one is way cheaper than Tuscan Leather.

I would put the leather on top, raspberries in the middle, and saffron on bottom. Currently my favorite fragrance and it lasts for freakin' ever. Would love to find a cheaper alternative.

Its similarity to Ombré Leather is more than obvious. Impressive similarity through different notes. It is a better and much more expensive version of Ombré Leather.

It smells like a stack of cash that has been held in a leather bag and has been sprayed with a raspberry body spray. Really hot

It does smell like other leather fragrances on the market, but I think it’s a better execution so I’m going to describe it anyway. It’s giving “naughty Harvard”. It’s like the leather chesterfield couch in a rich man’s study that still has a faint scent of luxury perfume from last night’s call girl. The berry top note brings to mind the aroma of fresh, slightly sticky, loose-leaf pipe tobacco—which also has an overripe & almost stewed berry kick. If there was any less of it, this fragrance would smell rustic. If there was any more of it, this fragrance would be too rich. Instead it’s refined. Scent imagery: Ghurka luggage and Ferragamo loafers in the airport business class lounge, taxidermy hunting trophies, a crystal decanter of single malt scotch, wafts of saffron & fenugreek, a lingering haze of smoke in the room, berries & honey with a medley of pink & black peppercorns, bank lamps, marble floors, polished wood wainscoting, a luxury horn comb, vintage aftershave, and a tin of fresh pipe tobacco.
