Essences Insensees

Essences Insensees opens with a spring bouquet of mimosa, violets and a hint of rose. Then something spicy appears in the mix and the mimosa becomes stronger. It has that dusty feel and combined with the vanilla it almost smells of sweet old books-- and the mimosa makes it lovely. The drydown is a sweet and dusty mimosa with hints of vanilla and a tiny bit of beeswax. Sillage is soft to moderate, longevity moderate. What a surprise, it smells like spring and summer in a bottle! And oh, that bottle. It looks amazing and very classic and romantic but the sprayer is a huge pain in the hind section. You have to squeeze that thing like crazy to get a tiny spritz of juice out! Enough about that bottle. The scent surprised me, I thought it would be much lighter. I don't get that much heliotrope or may rose out of it after the opening. It is a light, bright and fresh scent that makes me happy. Want-list! Edited to add: I am now the proud owner of a full bottle of this glorious scent. And I have to say the sprayer on the tester must have been busted-- the new bottle has a bulb sprayer that gives out normal amounts, and it can also be locked by twisting the nozzle to be leak- and vaporize-free.

Essences Insensees Diptyque (90ml., USD85) This is the best make-up mimosa powdery scent. My dream is fulfilled. I am so happy. (To be honest, this is not far from Jo Malone Starlit Mandarin & Honey In the way of honey beeswax and fresh tone, waxy - soapy skin But key highlight of Mimosa. In order of being Bitey and Animalic (soft Angelica), true nature of actual Mimosa absolute but blends in classic interpretation of powdery scent.) Ps. The bottle is beautiful but it is really hard to use tho. (January 24, 2025 - just want to drop a note that Powdery note in this gives a feel of "Jovoy - Touche finale" but no smoky cedar / violet aspect is less strong. Just an idea).

I am the cleanest, freshest, fanciest French woman that only ever uses the most finely milled bespoke soaps and also an actual breath of fresh sunshine. There's no citrus noted in the notes - perhaps I'm getting the mimosa, pink pepper combo - but it's almost citrus-like in its freshness. Except it lasts. This is absolutely signature scent worthy. I stumbled upon this gem in an old tester and, after a couple of weeks decided I had to have the full bottle. Fortunately, easily found on Ebay but I desperately wish @diptyque would re-release!

This is a lovely, very natural, understated scent. Testing it was an interesting surprise, because it smells unlike anything else I've known so far. It smells like warm clean skin - and that doesn't say much... so how do I describe it better... like 'mimosa and heliotrope peeking through the comforting smell of a baby oil'... strange, but true :). And then, after the drydown - I could still smell mainly the former plus the beeswax - in a pleasant way. This is a scent that can be worn to bed, it is so gentle.

One of the best Mimosa fragrances out on the market. Smells green with a smidge of the heliotrope coming through. An elegant nicely done fragrance.

To me it smells like yellow, if yellow had a scent. It’s a bright smell, if that exists...

camomile, camomile, camomile, herbs, Provance, bliss, sunshine.

Actually for me, this rates somewhere between like and love. Such a gorgeous, memorable scent. Normally I went for soliflore type scents, but this really captured my attention.

Amazingly fresh, green mimosa scent with a watery nuance of non-cloying.

Maybe it’s a combination of mate, heliotrope, and other flowers, it comes off weirdly oily, oil that went bad actually. Glad got to sample it though.

If you want to smell like green vase-water and chamomile tea, this is the (watery) scent for you. But not for me. :(

I got some sample vials from eBay, very nice. There are 4 Essences Insensees. The 2014, and 2015 versions have the same name, the newest has Tiara at the end. I cant find this 2014 original version. Call a Diptyque store, may have it. I read the reviews here, and this is the description that stood out: "It's like mimosa flower and baby oil". Hay, grassy, vanilla, are also right on. I think the heliotrope is as strong as mimosa, I dont get the rose or violet. So from the notes, I figured this is the 2014 that I have. My first impression was I thought, soft and child like; That's just the description Fragrantica gives for Mimosa. This is my first try at a mimosa fragrance. It is very gender neutral. If your a guy who likes some floral frags, if there not too girly: this is great. It is very Diptyquey... It's "natural" and herbal. It has the South American Indian tea, "Mate". It is one of the main notes in Diptyque Tempo, the new Patchouli frag. This is also powdery, but not to much. This is not ground breaking, I was hoping I would be able to resist buying yet another bottle, for a too large collection. I won't have to buy a bottle. But I like the "feel" of this one. It is so soft and tranquil, childlike; maybe melancholic. It would be a nice fragrance to gift to a young girl, early teens, or younger, for a first fragrance. Its very natural in a pure way, not worldly at all. The Diptyque more exclusive collection as this one is, are more pricey than the regular collection. I have Benzoin Bohiem, which I paid over $200 from a Diptyque shop, and it is exquisite and worth it. This fragrance feels like it belongs in the regular collection. If I could get a good deal for $100 or less, I may purchase this. But for me, I will enjoy my samples. It is worth a try. I think it could be special for someone out there. PS: One hour after I sprayed, the high class of this fragrance becomes apearant. It settles and comes into balance more. The Mimosa becomes more radiant and facetted. The floral reminds me of the new Essences Insensees Tiara, but this is better; The floral is excellent quality. Tiara is more modern, but the floral is strange, and synthetic somewhat. Oh, Diptyque! Every time I try to be cynical about your offerings you go and offer up something spectacular! VERY impressed by this. The grassy notes keep this from stepping into the cloying sweetness that one might otherwise expect from a mimosa fragrance. Although I didn't find the sillage to be massive, the longevity is there (I'm writing this the day after the initial application, and my wrist smells scrumptious). Clearly a floral, but without falling away from being truly unisex. Bravo, Monsieur Pellegrin!

An absolute joy of a fragrance. I am convinced it could be my wedding fragrance one day. It smells like a dewy meadow or a freshly picked wildflower bouquet. It is both a calming and happy smell. Not synthetic or heavy. Probably one of the best perfumes I've ever tried.

It did not last long but while it lasts, I was in heaven. The almond-coated mimosa is spicy and delightful, beats Jo Malone's Mimosa by miles.
