Florabellio Eau de Toilette

Will have to come back with a more detailed review - but since there has been so little buzz about this, I thought I'd share my first impression. Waited, waited, waited weeeeeks to sample this! Sounded exactly like what I was looking for, but was hard to imagine. Mainly I was in the market for a fresh sea-inspired fragrance. Finally went to Nordstrom to sample - at first sniff, I knew I loved it and went ahead and bought it. The first notes that came to me were bright, airy florals - then the sweetness of the fennel makes an appearance, which really compliments the salty/marine aspect that really comes out in the heat. Indoors I mostly caught the apple blossom, fennel and slightest watery notes. Once outside, in the now 80+ degree weather we have in inland Northern CA, the osmanthus and salt became louder, rounding it out. The sesame I still have not gotten to, maybe that's in the dry down. The coffee and fennel actually kind of mask each other at times - maybe that changes with the weather. Altogether, the perfect balance of subtle and unique qualities that most houses just don't have. Anyway, this wasn't as short as I expected it to be - woops. Love it, so glad Diptyque is branching out and has created another lovely masterpiece. Can't wait for the next one!

Opening notes: Apple blossom, coffee, and osmanthus. Categorized by Diptyque as a floral but I get a very light gourmand with sweet apple and cacao coffee notes. As it dries down the sweetened coffee note smells a bit cacao to me with a little saltiness which I love, and can't stop sniffing from my shirt and arm. It's so unique. A very elegant springtime eau de toilette. The sillage at opening is arms' length then becomes a skin scent, and I recommend spraying on your body but also spritzing the air and walking through it to get some on your hair and clothes. This helps boost the sillage and it won't overwhelm anyone immediately afterwards. I hesitate to recommend to serious dessert, gourmand lovers, this isn't sweet like Prada Candy and the notes are light, but try a sample and decide for yourself. Great for spring days that are both cool and warm as the coffee note is comforting and the green apple blossom/ salty sea air notes are so fresh and pretty. I love this one. I had 3 samples used up and finally added a full bottle to my collection.

I read a lot of comment in here and yes! it’s not a good one for everyone. I wearing it for a 3 months, someday I feels like I can see a lot of apple blossom in Thailand and unfortunately, some of the day I feels like I standing in front of the sea in the very very hot weather that make me feels so bad. It was a question without answer when you wearing this one in your country but for me it was like a lucky draw, I cannot telling myself that on this day what is the effect from this fragrance. And yes! it was so very excited that you have to find the answer by themself for the day that you worn. It was a love hate relationship for me about Florabellio and I totally buy it because I love that I cannot predict it (it was like ypu love someone only one side, you won’t know it was good or bad but at the end you still love it!). (Update on 5 Aug 2020) When I wear this one for 3 months I found that the scents remind me to a white wall that the color is not already dry, I feels like it smell like wall of a new house.

I like this one. But like the others, how I wish the coffee here were dialed down several notches if not omitted completely from the composition. I found, though, that the trick with Florabellio is to spray it on liberally immediately after a warm shower and then allow it to mellow down (a good 20 minutes) before putting on your shirt. After the first 20 minutes, the coffee weakens and almost disappears leaving behind a unique salty- fruity-floral note that evokes a warm (because of the sesame) and lazy day at the beach. It's bright, bitter, complex and unique; perfect even for warm weather. This one I would highly recommend to be reformulated by taking out the acrid coffee smell and replacing it with a woody or green note. But I appreciate this one!

Fantastic! Reminds me of camping on the Oregon coast, by the sand dunes and the beach, when campers would wake up early to make coffee on their little stoves, and just sit around in the morning light enjoying it. What's original here are not the unusual notes per se, but the way the scent finds the spot where warm and fresh, and cozy and light intersect. I heard this was the last scent that the last surviving founder of Diptyque created after many years of trial and error before she passed away. I think its original without trying to be exotic, and the perfect morning scent that still has substance. Amazed at all the negative reviews... Are they still too cool for aquatics?

★★★1⁄2 I was at the Diptyque boutique the other day, and the wonderful lady there kindly sprayed this on my hand. It is a very nice spring fragrance to my nose. It smells a bit salty, and the coffee beans leave a very clever hint that makes it nostalgic. I think the concept is spot on (capturing a trail from the woods and flowers down to the beach) It smells the same throughout, and longevity on my arm is great, especially for a summer/spring fragrance. That scent reminds me of the 90s in a very good way. Still, Philosykos will always be my Diptyque summer choice. Having said that, I am just using this sample drop by drop and leaning towards purchasing a 50ml bottle.

I absolutely love this one! I tried it awhile ago, I really liked it but somehow I forgot all about it, until my husband surprised me with a big bottle... Florabellio smells of apples and flowers, clean, fresh but at the same time warm and inviting This is unique, nothing like I have smelled before. It lasts all day, creating an aura around the wearer Very beautiful creation by Diptyque that became very special to me Do try it, you may love it too

The beautiful ugly Florabellio. This is somehow a weird kind of scent but it was such a big surprise when I liked it on first sniff! It is floral, aromatic and at the same time salty and with the other notes like coffee and sesame added you wouldn’t think it’s gonna work but it does, for me at least! The scent lingers for a long time but turns out to be a gorgeous skin scent during the last phase! A pretty decent release from this house!

This is my favorite Diptyque for the colder days. It is wonderful and transitions smoothly (unlike others that changes randomly with no sensible order). I do not understand the low rating at all. This scent makes my heart smile.

This is by far my favorite Diptyque scent. It's long lasting, I still smell it even on my skin after 5-6 hours. I think this could also be scent unisex perfume. BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH, GET THIS SCENT!!!

Can not believe it is so disliked! I really like its freshness combined with saltiness. Wearing it today: unusual, unisex, summery.

Apple blossom? I don't think so. This one is smell like orange blossom + a little salty scent. I love it.

Tested in tropical climate (very high humidity) but in AC conditions. I enjoy the opening of this. Fresh, zingy and very aquatic-salty, but with an interesting underlying floral sweetness. I could have sworn there was at least one citrus note to it, but no. Maybe it's the Fennel adding the zing? Personally I don't get any coffee. Anyway, sadly after half an hour I am left with only sea salt and a soft metallic note. I do not find it smelly in an unpleasant way by any means. It's just what sea salt smells like; and it quickly tones down to be so soft that you have to go up really close to smell it at all. If they could have just somehow made the opening last for at least 2-3 hours this would have been a great summer fragrance, something that conjures up days spent swimming in the ocean. But as it is there is just too little going on and too little projection to justify the price tag. As most Diptyque creations it is very non-perfumy and natural smelling, unfortunately in this case however it actually turns out to be way too little bang for your buck... for me at least. Looking at other reviews, it does seem to partly provoke quite unpleasant scent-imagery in people's minds. I would definitely not suggest this as a blind buy. Do pick up a sample first, if you are interested. Edit: I just had to check on my little tester box, cause this was confusing me too much. The ingredients list does indeed name limonene, citronellol and citral, so even if it's not listed as a note of the fragrance's all over concept, there are definitely citrus components to it.

This is unique! On first spray I was like ‘is that black pepper? Noooo is it green peppers? Noooooooo! It’s kind of spicy, fresh, herbal not overly masculine but not feminine. So, am I confident at identifying salt? No. Am I confident at identifying fennel? I thought I was because it’s distinct and I cook with it, more than salt these days lol. I was confused by the marine accord but I do kind of get it though there is nothing trite about it. How can something so disparate in sources pull together so well but still be bloody wierd yet scream low key classy? I like many a Diptyque and I guess in the enjoyment of the obvious I overlooked this but today opened a sample of edt from the London shop given last year. There is something in it that reminds me of the old Culpeppers shops or that place at the top of forest road in Edinburgh, Atkinsons? A herbalists anyway. I don’t get coffee, three hours in. I do get sesame and this is the first thing that jars. I love fragrances that confuse because it proves innovation is happening and though this is one classy number it’s unique. Try before I buy. Don’t think I will buy but it’s a ride. ETA, I just read back and saw this is disconned ages ago. It was a privilege to try it then. 😄

I found a sample of this hidden somewhere in a drawer and for some reason I didn't even remember having it! Based on the name alone, I expected it to be a green floral but obviously had no idea what I was in for! First of all, I'm generally not fond of marine notes, they just don't do anything for me. If I do smell such a note in a perfume, I'm not even able to identify it and say that it is 'marine'. The same goes for salt, apparently. For me it is an unusual combination and I quite like the smell of it. At first after spraying I get a smell that reminds me of plantain syrup but becomes much nicer as it settles. I do see it as something I could wear. I'm finding it interesting now in Winter, I am very curious what it would smell like in Summer - especially near the seaside. My willingness to buy it will depend on the feedback I get from everyone else, though. As much as I like it, I realise how strange this perfume is and wouldn't want to repel anyone. :) P.S. I often find that perfumes praised by many people smell bad on me (chypre and oriental fragrances in particular), so I am pleased to see the reverse for once. I think the main issue with this perfume is the name. With a name like Florabellio, I think anyone would expect this to be a floral scent with a hint of marine, coffee, apples, etc. Instead, this is very much an aquatic/marine scent that smells of salty sea air (in a pretty way!) with a hint of floral and coffee and not a lot of fruit. It needs an ocean/marine name and I think the reviews would be better as it would attract the right sort of wearer! As an aquatic, I do think it's lovely. I get a bit of osmanthus and coffee and fennel, but it's more like the smell of sea grasses and a few wildflowers yards in the background, while you're standing in the sand with your toes in the cold ocean. The marine note is the main player here. Anyone expecting something girly or pretty or mainstream is going to be disappointed here. This is a very nicely crafted niche scent for aquatic/marine perfume lovers. It should be called Journée à la Mer or something similar.

Feb 2016!! Diptyque is CLASSY!! Classy can be bold like DO SON, or OMBRE DANS L'EAU. Or classy can be low- key, like Florabellio. There are times you want your class to be quiet and understated; THIS is what you wear, every day, comfy and casual. When you go to get your hair done and your stylist notices it. When you're in the checkout line and the lady behind you asks what you're wearing. When you slip into school to drop off your child's lunch, and the office ladies compliment you. When you pick up your girlfriend for lunch and when she jumps in the car she asks what you're wearing. When you go to your doctor appointment and the nurse and Doctor compliment you. While you are home, doing what you do and hubby walks up behind you to embrace and says, "Ooooo you smell GOOD!" This is FLORABELLIO. Don't underestimate her, ladies! Read the previous review by "hmarrachel". She hit the mark!!!!

Parfum very unusual!! There is confusion between sweet/bitter/coffee .. The start is unusual and disharmonious. I heard something else perfumes Diptyque,but for me this is really strange. This is a fragrance that evolves slowly, . The apple blossom begins to appear after about 20 minutes together all'osmanthus give you a calmer feel and sweet-parfum,and the perfume from here onwards continues to evolve in a more gentle,calm,green,almost a calm after "the initial storm ". I like,scent discreet,quiet, peaceful.. Surprised me a lot,and is very different from other Diptyque. This perfume is good, unobtrusive and certainly suitable for spring. The sillage is moderate, and enormous longevity (7-12-h on me). Sillage: 6/10 Longevity: 8./10 Scent: 7.5/10 Overall: 7.5/10

Florabellio opened as a sweet but confusing floral with honey for me, and reminded me of the color yellow. It's a bit sharp, but I found it to be pretty. I thought the honey was saving it from being too generic of a floral. Then I read the actual notes, and was surprised by the "marine" presence. It definitely smelled a bit salty, but paired with a sticky sweetness, more like a salted caramel. After some time, however, it became more aquatic (ie. more synthetic), and I understood where that sharpness was coming from. My nose cannot locate the coffee or sesame notes. I do like this, actually. But I can see why people are complaining that it smells "cheap." It's reminiscent of a scented salted caramel candle.

I am surpsied by so many negative Reviews. Florabellio is defitinety in the aquatics category. It has a very prominent sea notes/ salt, that are very pungent in your nose (like to have some sea water in your nose). A floral aspect is also very clear - I don't actually know how apple flower blooms, but it is a light floral. I would say it reminds a lot of water lily fragrances. If you like MM Replica Sailing day or LM Parfums radikal water lily - you will definitely like this one. Aquatics are just not my favorite category of scents, so this is a pass for me. But there are no reasons not to love this one. Best spring/summer.

I can see why there are bad comments, but my boyfriend tells me I smell like a mermaid when I wear it and for that reason I admire it a lot. It's very unique in its composition and I feel like you have to have a certain taste to appreciate the fragrance completely. First spray you get a blast of sea salt with the apple blossom, and immediately then you are struck with the coffee - it hangs about the whole thing, giving it an aromatic edge. As a fragrance, it is quite linear, but given the composition it's not like you'll be bored of it after a few hours. Staying power is moderate, sillage is better.

Florabellio is veeery marine upon first spray, like actual sea salt somehow, I liked it and so I was immediately intrigued. I can't pick up any apple blossom as others have said. I mainly pick up the salt, the sesame seeds, some very light coffee beans and of course that fennel.. it's really a bold move to add that note in a perfume. I'm not so into fennel, but it works very well with the other notes so it's not overwhelming. Overall this is a complex and beautifully crafted perfume that I truly enjoy. Wish the longevity was a bit better though.

I'm coming around to this guy. When first released, Florabellio felt underwhelming, likely due to high/misguided expectations. Florabellio does not mean to sweep you off your feet, but rather keep besides you as quiet company. Wearing it, I feel like strolling along a long sandy beach with grass growing on dunes on a sunny spring day. Tranquility. I'm at ease.

Very natural-smelling sea salt/spray mingled with a whiff of roasted coffee beans. Well made, but for me a very time and place specific scent (and I wear all scents on all seasons): outdoors, by the sea, for the duration of the beach season. It just wouldn't make sense to me under any other scenario. Very short lasting.

Prettily peculiar. Salty and a little...humid?..a reinterpretation of skin maybe? I feel the osmanthus, the saltiness and sweet undertones/base notes lend a fleshy humid vibe to this fragrance.

Basically salty sea smell with sesame. Slight floral at the same time. Very little floral. No coffee. Very unique. At first I didn't love it but then couldn't stop smelling it. Now I love it!

I was surprised that a perfume with a name that evokes flowers had such dominant notes of salt and the ocean. This reminds me a LOT of Thierry Mugler's "Womanity."

Light floral scent with a touch of sea breeze/salt. Plain and forgettable. Also I don't get coffee, if any. A letdown.

Sweet coffee with salt. I'd wear it in spring or autumn.

I found bottles of this in Cannes recently despite its brutal discontinuation. The name and combination of notes created such an immense interest, I was overjoyed to finally try it. The promise of a coffee, marine, fennel concoction, however, stretches far beyond reality. It is a beautiful marine fragrance at first, the coffee hit right away and then faded into the background. On skin, for me, florabeillo becomes funky. The saltiness isn't refreshing, but instead quite dirty, like a thick, algae infested water amongst fresh sky.

I have a 2 ml decant of this and had to basically douse myself in it just to feel something. Mind you, I am usually a fan of Diptyque and not big on overtly loud stuff, but this is too light even for me. The scent itself is lovely, light floral-salty water, but It disappeared completely in a matter of literal minutes from my hot skin in hot humid weather. It might better suit cold-blooded people in milder weather circumstances probably lol

This has some of the notes I really like in perfumes: salt, osmanthus, coffee, but together this smells rather sharp and synthetic. I was very intrigued by it but after testing in store I have to say that it is not for me.

Opens with aquatic and fruity/floral notes. Then comes the bizarre, unexpected coffee/sesame overlay which has an overall leather effect to me. This definitely makes it more interesting. Ocean, salty flowers and leather. That coffee thing didnt last too long, however. I don't like marine/aquatic notes. They make me queasy when they are more than faintly noticeable in any fragrance. I rinsed it off and the hazy shadow that still remained was actually quite nice and tolerable to me. I guess that would be the drydown. Fresh. Hints of salt and flowers. Pretty. I find some similarities to Amouage Reflection but prefer the Diptyque. I think that this fragrance was an attempt for Diptyque to become quirky again which I appreciate. Most of their more recent releases are nice, well done, but not novel. This scent straddles the border of mainstream and quirky niche. It's not my cup of tea but I wouldn't mind smelling it on others. For now I'll content myself with L'Ombre dans L'Eau for my weird and wonderful warm-weather pick from this line and continue to mourn the demise of that green beauty Virgilio.

It opens with a sweet and fruity note that could resemble a caramelized apple, the Osmantus barely smells it, feels somewhat fresh, with nuances even ozone, but pursued closely by marine notes, salty and with a background of detergent smell that Quickly combine with the fruity notes, the result is somewhat uncontrolled, not to say that I am not motivated by anything pleasant. The coffee provided by the body of the fragrance, is distinguished from the middle notes and obscures the fragrance giving a serious and rare counterpoint, the sesame brings a earthy note to the drying very particular and original. Florabellio did not seem to me a good fragrance, rather I would say it is bad, well, I do not want to be politically correct is very bad. In addition it projects of regular to little and with a smell that reminded to me at times to Horizon of Laroche but in bad done. Rating: 3

What a strange fragrance. It seesaws back and forth between very pretty and kind of weird. When it’s good, it smells like honeyed spring flowers in a warm garden, then moments later it tips towards smelling too aquatic and like a clean toilet I.e. like someone has recently cleaned the bathroom and applied a floral air-freshener. The salt, the flowers and watery notes are all there but it’s like they are somehow competing, rather than working harmoniously. However, I don’t hate it, and I’ve been sampling in cold weather, so perhaps I’ll try again on warm spring or summer skin and see if it opens up.

This is a weird combination of some of my favorite notes that blend together... awfully!:( Yes, there is sweet, roasted (if not burnt) coffee note, some salty and floral notes, but the general vibe is the one of fennel that stays forever on skin. When I'm wearing this, I feel as if I had spilled coffee with salt and sugar in it, mixed 1:1 with fennel. I treat this one as an olfactory scientific experiment, not as a perfume that I could possibly wear, really;)

I can definitely get the marine accords, which I typically enjoy, but am then punched in the face by the fennel and salt which turns into an odd chemical, almost physically painful metallic smell. I have tried to pull out the sesame and coffee and I think I can sense it but it’s overtaken by the bizarre fennel. I hate to be so negative because I usually love Diptyque’s fragrances, but this is quite possibly the worst scent I’ve experienced.

This is a very unique scent. It has apple blossom, salty notes, and a coffee note. I was told there are no top, middle, base notes. Instead they all come out at once. The sales associate told me this perfume was in production for 11 years, and one of the last remaining founders of Diptyque was involved. In France it came out on January 10, and she died on January 11. This is a really cool and interesting fragrance.

A quick no for me. Marine and florals together skews quite feminine. Soapy and sickly the way aquatics can often be. After an hour or so, it mellows into something more pleasant and beachy, in a way that to me signifies more "candle" than "personal fragrance." It eventually adds in a bit of spice/coffee in the drydown and becomes more of a lovely aquatic than a yucky aquatic. For someone, but not for me.

In this composition I can only save the smell of fennel in the opening. Sea breeze and repellent apple buds. Blasphemous call coffee that bitter note in the background. In my head it's like the soap dispenser in the bathroom of a newly disinfected train. All on a sunny day. it improves in the drydown but not on my skin. All the notes that my nose hates in a bottle. unbelievable! Sorry

This is a strange scent. The story behind this has to do with the perfumers youth, coffee and a home by the sea, at least, that’s what the SA said. The salt, coffee and fennel don’t combine well if you ask me. I couldn’t wear this and I love salt and coffee normally. I got the same feeling with Salina. Not a safe blind buy.

This fragrance is DIRTY. Diptyque is known for their realistic floral/citrus/green scents but they really went raw with this one. This is like roots raw. I think if you are a fan of green/dirty scents you will probably like this one. But it was a little too hippie for me.

Let's just say I had the bottle on preorder, picked it up in-store, and returned it on the spot. Diptyque, what is going on?? It smelled like a hot diaper! Ok, obviously that's an exaggeration but it is way too sweet and straightforward.

This is the first time I was told by people around "Your new deodorant smells unpleasant, please don't wear it anymore. It's inappropriate". So embarrassed!!!!!!! But it really smells like cheap flowery deodorant. Yak!

This is as awful as it would appear, even though the notes are actually very accurate. This smells identical to glam princess, which I'm sure the majority of diptyque users are unfamiliar with

The pyramide here looks amazing, which is why this scent was such a disappointment. All I get is bubbble gum. Am I crazy?

I dont get the apple blossom or anything floral for that matter. The only thing I can smell is the sesame

This us just bad for my taste. The notes seem to be hating each other so bad.
