Geranium Odorata

With Geranium Odorata, what you get for the first 20 minutes is a blast of minty freshness. Although the scent does have a floral quality, at this stage, it is in the background. I do get the associations with toothpaste or a dentist's office some reviewers have been writing about, but only if I actively try to think of them. If I do not, all I get is "refreshing, unisex floral". In its second stage, the fragrance's mentholic notes subside to citric ones. At the same time, the spicy floral qualities become gradually more and more prominent. At this point, Geranium Odorata turns into a perfect summer scent: refreshing, medium-light, uplifting and elegant. On me, this stage lasts for about 1h 30 minutes. As it approaches the final phase of its lifespan, Geranium Odorata gets more and more subdued. From about hour 2 after application, you are left with a silently blooming, spicy geranium that lingers on your skin for another two hours until the scent disappears. Geranium Odorata is my summer scent for 2021 and might retain this position for the coming years as well. It is different from the usual choice between "tea, citrus or ambroxan" many lighter fragrances seem to leave you with. It is perfectly unisex and matches people from every age group I can think of. My only issue with this product is its longevity. Unfortunately, it is available only as an eau de toilette and lasts barely four hours if applied directly on the skin (on textiles, I get around 8 hours out of it). Yet, fragrancewise Geranium Odorata is one of my alltime-favourites so far - I personally prefer it over the stiffer "Geranium pour Monsieur" despite the longevity issues. Geranium Odorata is versatile, yet unique and can be worn anytime, everywhere, by everyone. Although I do not think of it as blind-buy-safe - it is a geranium fragrance after all and you either love this flower or you don't - I would recommend it to anyone in search for an interesting fragrance for warmer days. I adore this scent! Dry down is softly spicy and clean-it almost makes the air around you smell more clean! I had decided to make Diptyque Rose my "signature", and when I finally went to purchase it, I tried a sample of this. I bought the candle of this frag on the spot! By the next week, I called to order this as well. It is so unusual! I typically like soft, sweet rose scents with a touch of musk. This is unlike anything I have ever tried! You must ignore the top notes-they are sharp/medicinal and nothing like the final dry down. (File this under: "Don't judge a book by its cover.") Wearing it during the day is not enough-I have a robe that I spray with this before I go to sleep. Recently, I had been bedridden and was still in my robe in the afternoon when a friend came over-she leaned in for a hug and exclaimed that I smelled SO good! (It lasts well on clothing.) She has been my friend 17 years and this is the first fragrance she asked about. Now, I'd love to keep it my secret, but I try to do unto others as I'd like them to do to me, and wearing this makes me feel so fresh, clean and pretty I have to share about it! (I agree that there is rose in it-the candle of this scent is called Geranium Rosa. Try wearing Diptyque Rose lotion under this to bring out the sweet rose, or Diptyque body balm to bring a deeper "wood" note to it.)

Three dimensional bergamot geranium cedar tonka As the name implies, this is a love story featuring geranium rose front and centre, while borrowing some fougere characteristics. Most people know geranium from masculine compositions where the transition between tart citrus to rosy heart accord blends to reveal the impression of rose‘s fresher but also greener cousin. A lot of people think of natural bug spray repellent, citronella, when they think of geranium, because it is made up of shared molecules like citronellol, albeit it containing different versions. I personally find that the floral elements outweigh the rougher citric facets. Geranium odorata doubles down on the effect of a very citric geranium rose, supported by a glassy, transparent abstract woody accord, somewhere between cedar and vetiver. Some tonka sweetness in the base, further ties in the modern fougere influence. Essentially this is a plush geranium „fanned out“, to reveal the complete spectrum all the way from sparkling greenish bergamot to tart clean woody, connected by its floral essence. A very pretty unisex composition. I find it perfect for when I want something lightweight yet more dense than an EdC while still being profoundly fresh.

I was itching to try a geranium perfume and I've found the perfect one. I liked this so much that I purchased a full bottle. This is a realistic geranium -- specifically of the citronella variety. Citronella is a polarizing scent. Some love it and some hate it. For me, I love the scent as it reminds me of home where we have lots of citronella growing around the house and will rub on our skin to prevent mosquitos from biting. This EDT is like cutting a fresh bunch of citronella. It is zingy and effervescent. My one complaint is that for the first minute or two on my skin, there's a somewhat cat-piss like smell on me. But after a minute or two, it turns into full, blooming citronella. Towards the end of its performance, it turns into a beautiful, clean, powdery soap like smell that is typical of Diptyque fragrances. One thing I've noticed with Diptyque fragrances is that they generally don't last long and have poor sillage. I was pleasantly surprised to still smell this one on me when I showered at 11pm after having applied it to my skin 12 hours prior.

Geranium odorata starts off with bright, shimmering citrus with a pleasantly sweet, dewy, rose-like accord. A few minutes in, it loses its citrus shimmer and a greener geranium emerges with grassy nuances. Finally a tart cedar note emerges underneath draining out any remaining geranium. If any of you have tried smelling Atlas cedar (as opposed to virginia), will know it is sour and sappy and green as opposed to woody and dry. I get that exactly here. Finally I get sweet effervescent notes. Reminds me of a wilting bouquet. Weirdly it is not very natural smelling on my skin. There are various sweet almost vitamin water like elements, which ruin the immersion for me, especially in the base. Performance is decent, it's quite radiant and projects relatively well. It feels a little uninspiring to me, like it's trying to be floral citric and woody in equal amounts, finally leading nowhere. Definitely not bad though and definitely unisex.

I wasn't planning to buy a fragrance just wandering around the store and I was intrigued by diptyque's solid fragrances design it was so cool and then I started to explore the fragrance. There are other good fragrance in this house like orpheon, fleur de peau. I was about to buy either of this then I saw Geranium Odorata and tried it and I bought this. I tried it on the test paper and on my skin, and I loved this fragrance! This smells unique, it smells kinda rose, citrus and green, but I kinda feel like a geranium syrup at the start, the smell is linear and it does project within a feet and it doesn't last more than 6 hours which is a pretty disappointing but it becomes more skin scent after 6 hours but very subtle. I always prefer long lasting perfumes yet I still choose this because it's soo good and I haven't smelled anything like this. Overall this is a fresh floral greeny fragrance!

Geranium Odorata by Diptyque drew me in with its spicy geranium and pop of fresh bergamot. There is something “minty” about this fragrance and I’m thinking it’s how the vetiver and cedar compliment the top notes. This is a well blended fragrance for sure, everything works so well together to really give a very smooth multifaceted fragrance. This was kind of experimental for me because I kept going back and wearing my sample trying to figure out if it was bottle worthy for me. I did not think I was a geranium girl, but yes indeed I am after all! I don’t have anything else quite like this in my collection and I love to wear it when it is windy out because this fragrance just blooms around me in my scent bubble when I wear it!

What a charming scent, I'm starting to naturally gravitate to rose perfumes at the moment!. I'm pregnant! It's such a nonoffensive and natural perfume, I was looking for something warm and feminine and more importantly not too strong. It's such a complimentary perfume in the most subtle and warm way, the first most prominent smell is very fresh and bergamot is so prominent and the dry down the vetiver and pink pepper it is so warm and spicy but in a warm way and can really be diverse as in women can wear this and men, the dry down is the most remarkable part of the perfume. I'm 50/50 girl boy as this perfume instantly pulled me and it's unisex!!

I love Geranium ever since I was a child and I would never forget the first time I sniffed this enchanting heavenly fragrance of this plant. It evokes the hot day near the sea with the air filled with the narcotic and crisp fragrances of Mediterranean flowers and salty notes of the sea that makes me so content. Diptyque managed to embody all this into this elegant and spicy goodness of a perfume. I know all too well that one size doesn’t fit all but this fragrance is a gem for everyone who loves this amazingly smelling flower and Mediterranean atmosphere and can relate to my experience.

I did not intend to buy at first, but every time I was passing by the Diptyque counter to try their whole collection looking for a "sexy" perfume, I kept smelling this one. This perfume is soapy, clean, minty, fresh, and reminds me of when I was young and was playing with my dad's Roger Callet soap. Every time that I smell the bottle I'm taking back to that time where my dad was my hero and things were easier. The scent is comforting to me and always brings a smile on my face. This is my home scent: the scent that I grab when I'm working from home and that I put just before sleeping.

The truest rose geranium fragrance I’ve encountered, fresh and uplifting and although the notes are not the same, it has the same vibe as Fragonard’s Rose Lavande. A perfect choice for warmer weather, it has a melodic and embracing quality that will wrap around you beautifully. Reasonable silage and better than average longevity, around 5-6 hours. Recommended, in fact I’ve not met a Diptyque yet that I haven’t admired, whether the notes are favoured by me or not, every creation is beautifully executed. Thanks for reading.

I wasn't fond of geranium note until I found I liked it in La Fille de Berlin. Geranium usually complements a rose well, makes it smell more red, but here on its own it's quite nice too. Very clear, clean, slightly sharp and zesty. Not heavy, very suitable for warm weather. Invigorating and stimulating. I like this very much, when my usual deep roses are too much for summers, I might want to change it to Geranium Odorata. The dry down is pleasantly sweet, in a lemonade kind of way.

One of my favorite perfumes ever! I feel like it’s super underrated in the Diptyque world, especially since everyone seems to be crazy about gourmands these days. Geranium Odorata is stunning: the freshest geranium rose floral, citric bergamot, grounding cedar with a dash of pink pepper and vetiver rounding it out - the base notes create a clean sexiness that easily takes one from day to night. This fragrance isn’t predictable, trendy, old-fashioned, or boring. It sparkles.

Nose Note #1047 My first encounter with this brand. The geranium note is divine. It wears very lightly and freshly. Within a few minutes, your body heat opens up and elevates the fragrance. It definitely leans feminine—a beautiful rose-citrus scent. It’s a shame it’s so expensive because it really is a fragrance of extraordinary beauty. It doesn’t feel 'niche' in a challenging way; it’s a total crowd-pleaser. 8.5/10

I first smelled this in a Diptyque boutique: I was in to smell other things but I love geranium. I smelled a lot that day, but this was the decant I ordered afterwards. Wearing three sprays. The opening is bright and fresh. Next I get the rose geranium, which blends into the cedar. It stays fresh and ceder-y throughout. The fragrance was close, but long lasting: perfect for a hot summer day!

I’m so in love with this. The opening is a burst of fresh citronella, and that lasts about an hour or so. It dries down into a woody airy citrus scent that reminds me of D&G light blue + glossier you (like a cross between the two). It’s such a lovely comforting and clean dry down. Overall, it’s a skin scent and will stay on your clothes into the next day, but very lightly.

Diptyique's 'Geranium Ordorata' is very beautiful and will be adored by geranium lovers but... this is a poor man's 'Geranium Por Monsieur' by Frederic Malle. Save your time and money to get the latter. It's a simplistic yet breathtaking ode to a Heavenly geranium. Diptyique's geranium is pretty, but Frederic Malle's is utterly amazing.

What a heavenly geranium note. It goes on very light, very fresh. Within minutes your body temperature empowers and lifts the fragrance. Nobody smells like this, if you want a unique signature scent try this. I see why some people comment on a faint rose note, I get a slight gin note in here too? Just an absolute beautiful fragrance.

In primavera questo profumo per me e' un must! Fresco e arioso: e' la primavera che si annuncia in tutto il suo splendore e ti accarezza con note verdi e di geranio profumatissimo leggermente piccante . Un tonico per chi, come me, in primavera si sente frizzante, leggero e sognante allo stesso tempo. Sottovalutatissimo!!

This scent reminds me of Eau Rose with much less soapiness. I realize there are not any rose notes but I could swear that I smell at least a touch of rose. I can smell this for at least 5 hours without having to sniff my wrist. It changes into a clean inoffensive scent within 15 minutes. Very nice for spring and summer.

On the surface this is the perfect scent. Can't believe I never hear about this one! Well I can but we'll get to that later. I'm a sucker for green florals and this is absolutely refreshing and feminine. Problem is the performance is absymal

Love! The bergamot is kept in check by the rosy geranium. It’s fresh without being obnoxious, there is an earthy quality that grounds it. I’m a big fan of this. I look forward to wearing this during the summer, it is light and refreshing.

Smells like fresh and spicy geraniums! If you hate mosquito repellent smell, don’t pick this up! They often have a geranium scent to it cause I heard bugs hate the smell. For me, it’s very spa zen and springtime freshness!

Gorgeous! Very close to Geranium pour Monsieur but a tad more citrusy. Extremely close actually i have each on each hand. It is one of the very best geranium scents i have tried.

There's something about many Diptyque fragrances that is so wonderfully natural and down to earth. The opening is slightly spicy and citrusy, then it develops into a very fresh - i'd almost say wet - Geranium smell. I think Geraniums at the botanical garden right after they got watered/sprayed. I remember, last time I went to the Botanical Garden in Berlin, their shop had some lovely naturally scented soaps and I thought of those right away when testing this fragrance. High quality and very natural. Somehow I see this as a great thing to wear while you're having a summer or spring vacation somewhere out on the countryside, when you want to give your nose a break from synthetic scent molecules - nothing against those, mind, but it's never bad to ground yourself a bit once in a while. It is potentially unisex, not too sweet, but definitely floral (duh). At this price tag I'd rather test drive it. About sillage, it's there, bot not too loud. Longevity on me is not the greatest though, which is why personally I wouldn't be buying it for myself, but I'm very happy for the sample i got. Diptyque fragrances - even if not always completely up my alley - never disappoint as for an interesting experience.

I really like this for summer. Bergamot and geranium are prominent initially and then the wood comes through softly in the drydown. I don't get the musk others have mentioned and would not like this frag if it did. It's fairly linear, uncomplicated and easy. I find it refreshing without smelling like "fresh and clean" laundry scents. Most fragrances will turn my stomach if worn during the wrong temperature or if already feeling ill. I haven't had this experience with this. It smells like an exotic citrus-ade that smells drinkable and thirst quenching. I happen to really like geranium: the rosy/tangy quality is uplifting. This fragrance doesn't last long on my skin and I find the projection recedes fairly quickly. I do think it's too pricey for what it is though.

It's like a spa scent, but with carbonated water in it. Imagine a spa, aromatic scent with soda added. This is it. Another comparison is a mosquito repellent. Geranium Odorata is pleasant, but smells also like a mosquito repellent, at least ones in my country that contain lemongrass. I get lots of fizzy geranium and can smell a good amount of bergamot. Pink pepper is also there and the end result is I quite like it. HOWEVER, it smells 80% like Elizabeth Arden White Tea EdT, which happens to be 7 times cheaper and (funnily enough) more pleasant, so I'll stick with that and skip this. Overpriced, as all Diptyque fragrances are, but still very nice and invigorating... or you can get the same vibe from Elizabeth Arden White Tea at 7 times cheaper.

The central geranium fizzes – its medicinal citrus hits with aplomb. The pink peppercorn and bergamot add their voices to this sparkling soloist, though the vetiver and cedar are muted. Those base notes sing piano with everyone else at forte. Diptyque excels with these hyper-realist garden-fresh scents, and this one smells like an August stroll by the herb beds. It may polarize as its shining clarity for some may be monotonous for others. The dry down doesn't really go anywhere from that opening (but radiant) geranium note. Plus, its longevity is representative of most Diptyque fragrances: poor. Nevertheless, a real summertime delight and one that will certainly be appreciated in the heat when many bystanders find heavy scents to be noxious.

A very straightforward, pleasant and natural smelling geranium/bergamot dominated fragrance (the geranium smells like a fresh/herbal, slightly spicy, rosy note). Linear and simple, but well blended, soft and very wearable and refreshing in summer. The bergamot adds freshness, but is soft, not too sharp. Though I would have prefered it to be less prominent. The woody notes and tonka are not prominent, but mainly add a bit of depth to the fragrance, which make it smell good on skin. Though I don't like it enough for a purchase, I do like it; to me it smells so much like a sunny and carefree summer day.

Very fresh and uplifting perfume, good for spring. I can smell mostly geranium and a bot of bergamot, maybe some pepper. Pretty weak sillage and longevity, but at least a big bottle is affordable. I was gifted a bottle of this fragrance, and while I do like it, I don't really understand it and I don't wear it too often. Almost never, actually. It lacks any depth and mystery I'm after, and I don't really feel so fresh and light wearing it either. I don't know who I would recommend it for. It doesn't really awake my imagination. Maybe some free spirited older woman?

This starts off as a delightful blend of florals with geranium as its most pronounced note, sort of similar to Mrs. Mayers's cleaning products in (what else?) the geranium scent. There is the unmistakable acidic kick of geranium which makes it unique and different from generic soft florals. It then settles down into a soft, sweet musky scent reminiscent of Bvlgari's Eau Parfumee au The Vert. All in all, it is a pleasant enough scent but wasn't quite as exciting as I'd hoped. I think a decant is good enough for me.

This is a lovely Autumnal day perfume that could also resurface in the Spring. It is a very soft, very authentic, herbal Geranium scent, not too sweet thankfully but green and fresh with dew included. The Bergamot lends a well-blended crispness and the vetiver a softness. Overall it is a classy, ''real flower'' subtle, intimate fresh scent. Geranium is a special note that has been unfathomably neglected in recent times. Can certainly be interpreted as feminine but could easily be worn by any gender.

With Summer having arrived May 29 update: I am putting this as my Summer signature fragrance. Yes, I agree it's better than the Frederic Malle version, it's softer and fresher, yet very similar in quality and notes. It's very classy and pure. It won't offend anyone. It's very natural, and fresh. It's perfectly blended, with a bit of spiciness, woods, and tonka. I put this as my signature frag for now, for it's versatility. An understated gem.

I got a sample of this with my order. It smells flowery, a bit spicy and citrusy. In a way it smells pretty simliar to Orpheon to me but maybe I am just going noseblind right now after almost two hours of smelling perfume discovery sets. It's not really my vibe because it is too strong. edit: I've smelled it again and it smells so good now omg I guess my nose was just overwhelmed the last time

Like a state-fair lemonade mixed with sprite! Then, a glass bottle of sparkling water with orange blossom. Then geranium. I like it! I don't know why the sensation of it smelling like a beverage is so strong. The bergamot is much more reminiscent of candied lemon-lime than a steeped earl gray. I find it very fun and a sunny, joyful take on the flower that does not feel trite or overdone.

A very nice summer scent which is more flowery and innocent than the wonderful and cold Frederic Malle 'Geranium Pour Monsieur'. It is simply lovely, and reminds me of watering the many geraniums on my parents' sun filled roof in Israel. It has a green background but feels more airy and sweet. I like it very much.

First impression is light, fresh. Bergamot dissipates quickly. Reminiscent in feeling of Thé Fantaisie by Roger & Gallet. I can appreciate its delicateness and prettiness, but it has no "wow" factor for me. Quite boring; I'd never purchase a full bottle but would be happy if this was gifted to me.

Bought this as my “I don’t really want a fragrance but I want to smell freshly bathed” scent, and it matches my Aesop soaps so yeah - when I just don’t feel like something more bold. Smells great don’t get me wrong, but it won’t wow anybody, and even I may not buy another bottle.

this is a slightly peppery geranium with bergamot primarily. very citrussy and fresh. it's a warm summer day and this seems like a great scent for this weather, though personally, i'm not sure i'd wear it any other time of year. i would love to smell this in a shower gel.

Fresh geranium, green spring, almost an aquatic floral due to the citrus. I really liked this, however it’s not that potent unfortunately. The smell is addicting though... a sharp geranium. As other reviews have said, it should definitely be available in an EDP version.

What a surprise!!! Geranium Odorota reminds me of "peppermint toothpaste + rose" It's absolutely a classy unisex perfume, quite strong in the top noted but 15 mins after you would get a rosy freshness scent

reminds me of my geranium essential oil without the intensity of the flower. This seems to be well blended with the other ingredients. I get whiffs of lemons and roses. So beautiful!!

At first sniff it totally reminded me of Sprite, 7-up, Schweppes kind of smell. Then the greeness comes into play. Yhen citrusy,

Geranium here explodes like a green burst. Here it stars as soliflore that’s all upfront, with woody, peppery geranium that smacks of crisp, sunlit bergamot rind. Beneath it, a dry, smoky vetiver and a subtle nod to aged resins and that almost ashy earthiness. Woods, all woods, anchors the scene, lending a rugged, forest-floor quality. I adore geranium in many compositions, but as a dominant note it’s like that friend who never knows when to whisper. The interplay may be intriguing with a bright, sharp citrus meeting a bold, verdant pepper, but the whole thing is bit too raw, audacious, overwhelming. Less is more, I suppose. Not my ideal, but I could see this brash, botanical journey being someone's cup of tea.

About this perfume I like the clear contonuity. All components are recognizable: geranium, bergamot and pepper are combined in a spicy, fresh opening. Cedar and vetiver warm up the entire composition and give it balance. Althoug the flower note is sweet, the base prevents it to being too feminine. It is definitely unisex. Personally I don't think that dominant wood aspect benefits the overall tone. On my skin it drags the scent down into a strange earthiness (/staleness). Makes this floral fragrance unhappy... Sillage is intimate, the perfume doesn't last long (2 hrs top). I can imagine that in the spring it will be pleasant both for work and during leisure time.
