Lazulio

I purchased a Diptyque perfume, and Lazulio was included as a discovery sample gift. I was very surprised! I already own Bois Impérial by Quentin Bisch, which I absolutely love, and I’ve also smelled Experimentum Crucis from him and both are beautifully made. Lazulio is no exception. As soon as I sprayed the sample and let it dry down on my skin, I fell in love. It’s addicting, alluring, powdery, and mysterious. It’s also incredibly strong, just three sprays, and eight hours later I can still smell it clearly on both my skin and clothes. I immediately purchased a 10 ml bottle. Since it’s quite powerful, I don’t see myself wearing it daily. It’s such a unique scent that I imagine saving it for special and specific occasions, like going out to a bar and dinner with friends, NYC museum, a speakeasy, or even an outdoors wedding. It feels eccentric, creative, earthy, bold, and experimental, I feel at times on a Broadway Play or in a circus somehow. definitely not your everyday fragrance. If I had to describe it, I’d say it smells like walking into a refined, luxurious antique shop where everything is velvet-draped, expensive, and timeless. It has a powdery, earthy, and slightly mineral vibe. It actually reminds me a bit of Cockatiel by Zoologist, but while Cockatiel becomes too sour and off-putting on my skin (kind of like birds in a dirty cage, possibly due to the rhubarb and champagne), Lazulio is beautifully blended and doesn’t have that issue at all.

I’ve received an official sample of this and I need more 🤤... This is a very tart rhubarb with vetiver, and even though I’m not a vetiver fan, I do really love this combination. It is uniseks, slightly leaning towards feminine, it smells very clean but not in the cliche soapy floral way but more a herbal & woody clean. Whiffs of a bath in a country house, if that makes sense? Washing line drying, sun light pouring in, windows open.... I do recognise the familiarity with Tilia, but where I find that one to be a bit too floral, Lazulio is blended perfection. Just the right amount of sour & wood, with just a little floral note to make it interesting. I’ve sprayed some on before bed and it is still present 8+ hours later.

People want reviews (especially the actual rating) about the actual perfume, not your opinion about the perfumer if you haven’t even tried it. The 3.4 does not reflect the actual scent. You would think it was one of DT’s perfumes or something. I blind bought this, because I love Lilyphea, the notes looked right up my alley, and because I trust QB to blend the notes beautifully. I was not wrong. The tartness isn’t screechy and is balanced by the floral, vetiver and benzoin. After about 30 minutes on my skin, it smells like a lovely tart rose, warmed up by the vetiver and benzoin. To me, this seems more like a cooler weather perfume, especially if you’re not a big gourmand or beast mode fan.

Diptique perfumes are always interesting and generally have a transparent texture. Lazulio is among their heaviest, and while I can see it being polarizing, it smells divine to me. The rhubarb is an acquired taste, but here it is well balanced, and after a while it blends in with the vetiver and other sweet notes, lingering and bouncing off your skin for hours. It's expensive, and definitely not a blind buy. But if you like rhubarb scents, this is as good as it gets. (Hermes' version is lighter, with nowhere near the staying power).

It smells like my grandmother brought rhubarb in from her garden, stewed it down, poured it into a casserole dish, then topped it with a crumble of oats, flour, butter, sugar, and vanilla before baking it until the whole house smelled warm and golden. Then she made Bird’s custard, poured it over everything, and now I’m sitting in front of a bowl with the rhubarb, crumble, and custard all mixed together. It doesn’t just smell like rhubarb to me. It smells like a memory. Warm, tart, creamy, nostalgic, and completely comforting.

I fell in love with this perfume in store and I am generally not huge fan Q.B work. (haters gonna skate) This is everything i want in a perfume. I don't even remember how rhubarb even smells like. Dreamy, sophisticated little bit green. This is why I like dyptique out of all perfume houses a LOT their scents are like fairytail elegance in a bottle. I could smell this perfume on my clothing for 3 days. I think my love for L'Eau Papier has been dethroned to a second place.

It’s worth trying honestly, I don’t think it makes sense to prejudge the perfume based on the perfumer. A perfumer’s jobs is at least somewhat to sublimate whatever their personal style is to suit the brand they’re working under, and I think this release matches with Diptyque’s brand. It’s a resinous slightly sweet but vegetal perfume with the kind of sweaty affect rhubarb can sometimes have. It’s actually very good and feels in the same realm as Kyoto and Corail Oscuro.

After an 1hr this really reminds me of Tilia (my signature scent), but if Tilia was more tart/sour and rhubarb centered. Projects strongly on clothes. I think its really nice and a real departure from Diptyques usual offerings. This doesn't fit in the essence collection in my opinion, its very much it's own thing and should have been in the normal EDP range - I guess they just wanted to charge more for the Bisch price tag. If I didn't own Tilia I would buy!

Addictive!!!Cant even describe why.I was not impressed at the beginning.”Blah,blah,blah, another Bisch creation with ambroxan”But it’s grew on me and I need a full bottle after 2 samples.It’s so comforting and peaceful that you can spray it before bed .The longevity is pretty good,it’s soft but it’s staying for quite a while and actually it gets better.Magic!

I think my nose is playing tricks on me. For me this leans on the petrichorish theme for me. A perfected eldo's hermann a mes cotes, dare i say. Edit: okay, wow, i just discovered Quentin is also the nose behind hermann a mes cotes, after looking it up again. I feel validated with my judgment now hehe. Nevertheless, this frag is a love for me.

Oh my! This is lovely. Reminds me of a tea scent but there's no tea notes listed. I love this! Green, fresh, slightly sweet. Not sure why it has such a low rating as this is a great release, perfect for summer and perfect to set you apart from endless Acqua Di Gios and Sauvages out there. Absolutely worth trying if you love tea-like scents.

As a rhubarb freak who is painfully aware that the scent doesn't necessarily translate to skin - this is exquisite. Bright and sour and also dirty and dark - just like forced rhubarb. The dry-down experience is like baking a rhubarb dessert - starts with a crisp and sour freshness and mellows to something spicy and creamy.

A very unique perfume, and one of my favorites. The rhubarb is so realistic that when I wear it, my face tends to feel a bit warm, the way it does when eating real tangy foods. It feels like a slap in the face, but in a good way. I don't spray it on my clothes, as it is just too long-lasting and intense.

I don’t understand so low rating for this perfume , I tried this perfume at the store , the opening note is fresh floral and a bit salty which I loved and then later after 3-4h it still has a little sweet fresh scent left on my skin , I love it , definitely want to buy it

Salty grapefruit, with a hint of fresh, slightly green floral. Transparently, I have no idea what rhubarb smells like. But I liked this! To me it’s very appealing, yet still unique and intriguing. In sunny 80 degree temps, I kept going back for sniffs.

Very tangy and fruity but then the floral comes thru. I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. The rhubarb helps the florals smell a bit more green to me. Like you’re holding stems in your hand. Perfect scent for a spring or summer rotation.

Please ignore the low rating for this fragrance (among others). Trolls have taken over Fragrantica. They get especially mad when a fragrance is expensive. Just tell us you're broke....no need to tank ratings just because you can't afford this hobby.

I would even be tempted to say it's a twist between Delina and Encelade. This is Encelade but less leathery green and more floral rosy (Kind of delina a bit rose oxyde with green notes), nothing new and not at all creative but really really good.

I just sprayed it and haven't spent much time with it, yet off the rip it reminds me of L'Artisan Parfumeur Vétiver Écarlate swapping the Rhubarb for tomatoes. Its very nice, fresh and green.

Starts kinda tangy and fruity, then turns warm, woody, and a bit mysterious. Definitely not basic... it’s giving unique.

In my opinion, this scent is a 10 out of 10!!!! Love it So much!!

A feathery rhubarb bouquet, dusted with resin. The opening is one of the most convincing rhubarbs I’ve ever met, and one of the most convincing... cannabises(?) Must be something about the tart herbals paired with the vetiver, or maybe it’s how some rhubarbs play with my nose. (Gumamina’s Odette opens like a grapefruit edible to me). On skin, this completely vanishes within fifteen minutes to be replaced by a polite, roseate tea parlour scent. On fabric, a weedy ghost still lingers above the roses. If anything, Lazulio gave me an insatiable yearning for Prada’s Infusion de Rhubarbe (more candy, more carbonation - think flamingo pink) and got me re-spritzing with my beloved Odette (more tangy, more baby – think blush pink). If I had to call Lazulio a hue it’d be “dusty rose.” My synesthesia is at odds with Diptyque’s creatives, as Lazulio reads very coral and ivory to my nose, while Corail Oscuro gave me emerald and sapphire. Don’t get me wrong; I don't hate Lazulio. I’m just already betrothed to two other rhubarbs. Mental Snapshot: A floral-festooned drawing room, iced with curlicued moulding and padded with tufted silk. Beyond the lace-curtained windows, albino peacocks bask in the rose gardens. The Marchioness reclines on her divan and lights a fat blunt. tl;dr: Maryjane Austen 💐💨

If you are a rhubarb fan, this could be a powerhouse for you! A very realistic, green rhubarb fragrance with excellent longevity and presence, it opens with more warmth and sweetness, but fairly quickly settles into a clear, tart rhubarb profile that remains consistent for literally hours! My 'personal taste' verdict is that this very well made and very wearable, but on my skin the dry down is just a little too linear. I honestly do enjoy it, but it lacks the shape and warmth in fragrance that I crave, so I know I would instinctively favour similar rhubarb favourites I already have in my collection (eg. Ffern Autumn 25). Definitely worth sampling, especially if you enjoy rhubarb as a note, but for me it stays in “good but not essential” territory.

Green, stemmy, sweet-sour fruity all at once... rhubarb... I don't usually prefer it alone, but I'm okay with it here because of its lively, apple-ish smell and very natural feel but never something I'd wear daily (I cannot...) I like rhubarb as a perfume companion because it adds that flower stem effect, green and lively qualities. If flowers like tulip, gardenia, lily, jasmine, tuberose are in the lead and rhubarb is in the back buffing them up, then everything is fine by me. But here there are a bunch of mischievous rhubarb actors hogging the stage. For those looking for this kind of thing though, it's priceless: stemmy, fruity, tangy, mouthwatering! The previous time I tested Lazulio was in frigid December. It was too sharp, too one-dimensional, uninspiring. I'm sniffing it again in May, and in warmer weather this fragrance has bloomed. The notes are mysterious. How do you evoke the smell of a color? Lazulio was inspired by the blues and greens of a peacock's feathers. And somehow it does smell blueish green. It is floral though I cannot identify any flowers in particular. It smells fresh, sophisticated, exotic. Before you dismiss it, try it again in a new season. This is a good spring perfume.

Very pleasant and long lasting scent. Combination of Hermes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate and Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber. I have both Hermes and Jo Malone so I'm not planning to buy Lazulio in the nearest future. Edit: whoa! 😍 Extremely long lasting! I can smell it on my arm on the next day! I love how rhubarb note is playing with what I feel earl grey. One sniff rhubarb and the next sniff earl gray! Love it! I think I need full bottle 😅

I am a male and my wife loves this perfume. It’s very sophisticated... I feel pleasant and clean. It’s nice, not busy, and very very unique. It’s a soft and strong aromatic, very unisex. Great blend. It reminds me of a formal or playful business woman or a formal date night male vibe. But mature. Also this is my first review, so sorry if it’s not good lol I’m trying

Opens with the TARTEST rhubarb I’ve ever smelled, luckily it didn’t last too long before settling down into a meek, floral skin scent. Ngl kinda gave me whiplash, from shocking neon pink to a delicate periwinkle. I didn’t get the peacock vibes but it certainly leaves an impression like one!

We have a popular boiled sweet in the UK which tastes of rhubarb and custard. This smells *exactly* like sucking on those sweets. It’s a lovely nostalgic smell for me, which I really like. I’m just not sure I want to wear it as a scent? And certainly not at this price point!

Sweeter and more floral Encelade. Similar but different. If you have one you probably don’t need another but I can see justifying having both as well. Q Bisch’ signature all over it. It’s pretty and unique.

Fizzy, grassy, woody and photorealistic rhubarb. I like it! It feels vibrant and zesty, without leaning too hard on the “sweet fruit” thing. A bit like rhubarb itself actually - polarising and interesting.

This is a beautiful, intimate, and sophisticated scent - probably best for a woman. Vetiver and rhubarb are present but the dominant note is floral, almost exactly like an earl gray tea.

got a sample of this when purchasing a candle (i highly recommend their Benjoin scent it's ridiculously good) and decided to wear it out. maybe i'm crazy but immediately on the first spray i got a whiff of Fat Electrician by Etat Libre d'Orange. that intense sweetness mixed with dirty vetiver, it's kind of a guilty pleasure. it's pungent yet intoxicating at the same time. after about 5 minutes of calming down on my skin, it becomes a bright, sparkling rhubarb with a singular root of vetiver thrown on it. now while i wish the dirty vetiver in the beginning stayed the entire time, that doesn't mean i can't appreciate the scent for what it is. i can definitely see the appeal. it turns simple yet stunning. other people in the comments aren't exaggerating when they say that it is photorealistic rhubarb. it's juicy, loud but not excessive, certainly green but with a hint of sweetness. perfect for springtime. this is one of the better releases of Les Essences in my opinion--right behind Lilyphéa and Lunamaris. definitely not a blind buy, but if it's in your alley, you'll probably love it.

What I love about Diptyque is its chic, quintessentially French, fleeting “je ne sais quoi” quality. Each fragrance manages to exist everywhere and nowhere at once, yet remains unlike anything else on the market. With Lauzulio, you can immediately recognize Quentin Bisch’s hand—something that feels as though Amouage could release it. There’s Diptyque’s signature quirkiness, intertwined with Bisch’s resinous sophistication. From the very first whiff, I was reminded of Amouage’s Existence, with its airy, luminous top notes cascading into a full-bodied base. I can easily imagine this fragrance becoming a TikTok sensation—celebrated by many, criticized by just as many. For me, however, it is a piece to admire rather than wear.

The denial has worn off and I'm honestly a bit gutted about this purchase, it had so much potential but the skin chemistry is just completely off on me. I wanted that bright rhubarb that was a bit soapy, green/vetiver and tea like on paper, but none of these seem to come out on my skin I just get this dirty resinous scent that smells vegetal (weeds/bushes) and a bit like sweat. If anyone wants to purchase I can do a good deal on my bottle.

Tried a tester of this. A bit too ''green'' for my liking. Missing a certain depth. Also caused me a little bit of a headache. It's very strong and leaning more masculine. I understand the comparisons with Tilia or Encelade. It has a bit of the same Bisch DNAthat you find. I think Bisch is a great perfumer, this one just doesn't do it for me. Drydown makes up for it a bit, and therefore not getting too bad of a score.

Leathery with a freshness, a bit masculine for me

I got my nose on a sample from my Diptyque store before the release today. I love this house and I mostly love QB. Lazulio starts off very tart and effervescent. The Diptyque sales rep likened it to Pinot Grigio (?) The benzoin and vertiver are blended well and warm it up but overall this isn’t nice on my skin. I might like to smell it on someone else on a warm day. It didn’t remind me of anything else I have tried. I have 2 from the Le Essens collection but I won’t be adding Lazulio.

I REALLY wanted to love this as much as I love Lilyphea and Bois Corse but unfortunately after it dries down all I smell on my skin is a note that reminds me of my grandma.

This is the first ever Diptyque I can say I instantly disliked. Smells like dry, a bit oily vegetables with hay.

Dry, bitter rhubarb. Unpleasant

First I want to say I LOVE Quentin Bisch and a majority of his creations but this one is a hard no. If you love rhubarb, then this fragrance is for you. If you are human, you will hate it. It’s strong rhubarb and nothing else. Gross

Absolutely no ! Benzoin is so dominant and disgusting. The scent is like that a dirty old fat man is sitting on your leather sofa and smokes. No No nooo please nooo!!!

Not a safe blind buy. I immensely dislike this one. Very pungent and rhubarb heavy.

An interesting opening accord. Instead of rhubarb it smells to me like tart pink grapefruit against its' opposite.. warm vanillic amber. It somehow works, the next phase, less so. It morphs into acidic geranium and tagetes, very aromatic floral vinegar, a little bit of rose in there with tangy facets of vetiver. Quite a bit of unpleasant offnotes popping up (cat pee, body odor). And then it settles into a very light, dry and abstract smoky vetiver base, benzoin the only other note I can detect... still echoes of sour rose present. The late late drydown, a warm benzoin/woody skin scent, is my favorite part. Major respect for creating a somewhat challenging old-school diptyque kind of fragrance here. Reminds me a little of Geranium Odorata and others from the Les Eaux line. Not for me but its’ bitter, slightly medicinal watery character will likely please fans of witchy brews (less expected florals and oddball botanical fragrances) from houses like Maria Candida Gentile. Seems too spare and casual for top of the line prices. I agree with the review below, Orange or Yellow sure. Blue? No way. 2.5 out of 5.
