Lilyphéa

Sampled on paper, it's so pretty and wonderful. I really can't say much other than than yes it's definetlyy a lilypad fragrance. Fresh and stemmy leafy green, a tiny bit crisp/spicy-ish, a little sweet, delicate but firm. I think of plant stems, snapped with the sap inside, the leaf of the lilypad, dewy or moist. And the air off the pond, but it's a clean pond, like in a botanical/hotel garden, where there's no animals or algae within. The water is slightly sweet from the natural sweetness of plant sap, making the air off the top sweet and fresh, too—I think that's from the vanilla. I didn't know there was vanilla in here until I peeped the notes, but I suppose it's part of the backdrop: it rounds out and slightly sweetens the scent so it's not so sharply or purely green. It doesn't make it thick though, I wouldn't call this an aquatic perfume personally but it's light and uplifting and clean (but not sterile), not cloying in the slightest. It's so intensely wearable and just my type. Fuck, this is genuinely like my dream signature scent......... Mark my words I'll snag at least a decant one day, probably for my wedding. It's just wayyy outta my budget, I'd feel bad even asking for it as a gift. Edit: I don't understand the "generic/cheap men's cologne" comparisons, like at all. It's extremely natural smelling, like sniffing a straight up lilypad, on paper at least. Maybe it's bodychem dependant?

A powerhouse duo of perfumers comes together to make the perfect vanilla fresher, à la Poets of Berlin, Wild Vanilla Orchid, and Flora Gorgeous Orchid. Where this succeeds — and others fail — is that it doesn’t rely on the vanilla as a standout note. Rather, the ozonic, green, and vanillic layers are perfectly harmonized: more of an ambient aura than a discernible chord with individual notes. It also doesn’t rely on a sweet flower to glue the fresh and watery facets down to the vanilla. It takes classic cool notes in vintage perfumery, like violet leaf and galbanum (NOT GINGER, as Fragrantica incorrectly states), and trusts that they belong with warm vanilla and cardamom. It’s an ethereal fragrance with no comparable smell-alikes. It’s the most I’ve ever spent on a bottle of perfume, and likely the most I will ever spend. A match made in heaven with me, a lover of art history, nature, and poetry, Lilyphéa is a dewdrop sliding towards the tip of a green leaf in the early morning, slipping off, careening towards a sparkle on the water, meeting its surface with a ripple that extends throughout the rest of the pond. Its sillage emanates according to this imagery, moderate and atmospheric, not room-filling and screechy.

The thing i love most about Diptyque is its one of the few houses where certain perfumes make me visualize myself as part of a painting or a beautiful story in my head. This makes these perfumes so personal to me, cuz no one else can see these detailed pictures the same way i do. Lilyphea’s story is im taking a luxurious bath in the bathroom of my dreams. Where the lines of the indoor space and outdoor are blurred by the open space and big glass windows. White and green marble walls. with a wall size open glass window by the marble bathtub overlooking the most beautiful lush green garden, meadows, birds chirping, waterfalls, big ponds full of lilies and wild flowers. As far as my eyes can see. The smell of the flowers and fresh clean air from the garden is mixing with my shampoo and shower products and its creating this beautiful scent. This is one of the most relaxing, airy, delightful and beautiful perfumes i ve ever smelled. It opens up my lungs and makes me feel happy and lightens up my senses. Longevity is ok on the skin but lasts longer on clothes. I went through so many samples of this before i splurged on a full bottle. And im not regretting it.

This perfume is lovely indeed. Many others have sung its praises. However, at this price point I must ask myself, do I like it THAT much? $350 does several things psychologically. First, it certainly signals exclusivity. And isn’t it human to want to own something and smell like something not many people have access to? The price also tries to convince me it’s just. that. good. Does it succeed? If I smelled this and it were only $35 instead of $350 would I still want it? And the interesting answer is I don’t think I would. There will be those who turn their nose up, thinking Diptyque has no business asking this much for a fragrance, and that it’s overhyped. Others who love the brand and its aesthetic will fall in love and save up pennies to afford this fragrance. Both are right. I personally walk the tightrope between them. Until I have money that I don’t know what to do with (which I can face it, will never happen), I will enjoy other scents out there.

When I first tested "Lilyphéa | Diptyque", I loved the scent, but found it a bit too sharp smelling in the far dry down..... I’ve now had my sample a good few months and no longer get that sharpness. The scent has mellowed out and I’ve now upgraded to a full bottle. "Lilyphéa | Diptyque" a pond fairy scent in a bottle. She’s relaxing on a lily pad in the summer sun, dipping her feet in the pond while dragonflies fly by. This is such a refreshing, uplifting, wet and cold green scent. While it’s expensive, you are getting what you pay for. It’s strong and very long lasting . Im not a fan of Dyptique, but Lilyphea is truly a unique beauty. If you enjoy scents like "Dans Paris | Celine", "Absolute Aphrodisiac | Initio", "Angélique Noire | Guerlain" or "Dandelion Butter | Clue Perfumery", I think you’ll enjoy this one. If you are undecided on "Lilyphéa | Diptyque", put your sample away for a bit and come back to it. Mine just needed a bit of time to settle.

It’s really cool!! Lilyphea i think is what I had hoped Philosykos and Zoologist Dragonfly would achieve. It is dare i say a realistic plant smell when you snap a stem lol. I’ve heard so many reviews with that comment but I think it’s only ever matched for me with Lilyphea. It smells very wet and dewy! It reminds me of watering my plants early in the morning just as the sunrise is about to finish coming out of a long evening rain. Some leaves fell on the ground, and you pick up a delicately fragrant whiff of a nearb flower you can’t quite distinguish. It’s by no means for me purely that memory because it’s still fragrant and tempered to still behave as a fragrant perfume Update! As it dries down it passes by that golden/soft yet faintly dusty floral scent I get from Un A Cythere from Hermes but it literally just passes that by before going for a gentle gummy kind of sweet floral scent that (very faintly) reminds me of dusty mochi or strawberry daifuku

This is the most beautiful, soft, delicate, angelic scent. When i first smelled it i utterly fell in love with it. Upon first spritz you get the green freshness but it settles into a soft and unique vanilla skin scent with a hint of green. To me it evokes the imagery of laying down on soft linen sheets in the middle of a meadow in a warm spring day with the breeze. Masterfully blended and a unique combination. The perfect scent for a cozy rainy day. I own Waterlily Tea Dress by Zara as well which is much more green without the vanilla softness enveloping it. My only downside is the cardamom note which sadly turns somewhat of a sunscreen smell on my skin on all the perfumes i try, but i don’t seem to mind it in this. I truly love this scent but the longevity and sillage are unjustifiable for the price range, which is a shame. Will forever be trying to find a dupe with better longevity in this scent profile.

This is by far the best blind buy I did this year. This is breathtaking beautiful and unique. In perfume industry right now is so hard to come up with something that amazing and smells like no other. Well Diptyque did it. I haven’t had a favorite Diptyque until this point. It’s creamy green watery floral, yet there is a distinct woodiness and sweetness. One thing I’ll say, and I’ll have to test it again, but for some reason it didn’t work for me in a hot sunny day. It works better on a cloudy, slightly warm cooler day. I don’t know what it is, but on Linen clothes it projects absolutely gorgeous to the point I can’t get enough of the whiffs. Longevity is pretty amazing too. This is modern feminine gentle woody watery floral. Take Diorissimo (not saying they are similar) and as much I love it it’s bringing mom memories while Lilyphéa is what I want to be remembered by my kids. 🥹🥰

I tried this perfume while on a trip to London. It was pleasant, but I usually prefer gourmand fragrances, so it didn’t captivate me at first. Still, I took a blotter with the sample and slipped it into my coat pocket. When I pulled it out two days later at home, I completely fell in love with the scent. For the past two weeks, I haven’t been able to stop smelling it. I even ordered a 5 ml sample to make sure it works well on my skin—and I just can’t stop thinking about it. I keep trying to convince myself that I don’t need a €300 perfume, and I’ve already closed the Diptyque website twice... but I already know I’ll end up ordering it. I’ve never smelled anything better in my life. It takes a little while for the initial green note to settle though, and that part bothers me slightly. But after about an hour, I simply can’t stop smelling it.

This scent is just magic. I went to the Diptyque store to buy l'eau papier. I ended up taking multiple samples to try to wear the perfume before committing to it. I came across Lilyphea. There was something so interesting about it, so fresh and green but yet so innocent and sweet. I tried to wear it few times but I thought its rather gonna be the kind of scent that is very interesting and very different but not for me longterm. I was wrong, I tried to wear it few times and over time got addicted to it. I bought the full bottle week later. Now, still, I cant stop smelling it. It is just so beautiful. With other perfumes, I usually get overwhelmed by them at some point and I just switch them out a bit. That doesnt happen with this perfume. I am always looking forward to smell it again. Never had this with any perfume. Its very unique.

Water lily. Definitely a more feminine scent, but absolutely beautifully crafted. I must say, while being a tad green-ish in terms of what it generally presents, Lilyphea embarks its wearer on a gentle float across the lake, no matter the season. I appreciate Diptyque in general, it is one of my favorites - hence the pleasure of planning to purchase this scent - but somehow I feel like it should've been a tad more powerful when it comes to sillage. I like intimate fragrances too, but seeing that this line is exclusive, I expected a little more power than what it offers. Other than that, I love the mixture between a gentle violet leaf, the acidity of ginger, and a slow vanilla backdrop. The combinations definitely make this fragrance delicate, while still maintaining hints of elegance and maturity. 10/10 Diptyque, carry on.

Wow, I've never wanted a perfume so bad. I tried it on the St Germain store in Paris, but I couldn't justify getting it. I'm relatively new to fragrance, so I got one of their EDT discovery sets instead but I can't stop thinking about this one. It's so incresibly expensive, and only available in the full size unless you get the "essences" set which is also way more expensive than the other perfums from the brand. It tells a story, it paints a picture, and its not overly aquatic, or green. It's a perfect balance of all the notes. I'm usually a wood girl, but this one feels so *me*. Getting this would've been the perfect ending to a day of looking at impressionist paintings and sitting by the Seine, but alas. I hope it becomes available as a travel size, because it really is as magical as everyone says it is.

A love from first spray! I get the feeling of being wrapped in mist. Yet this mist has light green and spicy facets. It's not nearly as green or spiced as I thought from the notes. Honestly, I cook with cardamom and ginger every week and would not have guessed either are in here. I cannot overstate how much this gives a rounded and more cloud-like feel rather than leaning too aquatic or spicy. This makes it addictive. I wore this on a rainy day to run errands and it felt perfect for that. It matches the spring weather, projects pleasantly, yet will be an inoffensive scent. It wears linearly, so how it smells at the beginning is how it smelled to me by the end of the day. If you like A Drop D'Issey, you may like this. Rather different fragrances but they have a similar light and watery vibe.

entirely effervescent. a cold, melancholic, rainy afternoon. a wet moss opens to a soothing, creamy vanilla. nothing sweet, nearly milky. there's something else there too, something with a tang of sugar but still a bite. on me, it is reminiscent of green banana, but unfortunately fades quickly after first spray. the cardamom leaves a bit of spice to tickle the back of your nose. it does dry down into something much soapier than it's beginnings, but still retains much of that dna. for the price point i cannot recommend it, but it is simply lovely. edit: not sure if it's just my skin, or if this would apply to the full bottle, but i sprayed the 2ml sample on my wrist two days ago and i can still smell it today. if that is how the full bottle performs, it actually might be worth the price.

surpassed my expectations by miles. i had a feeling i was going to like this, but expected it to be slightly too green for me to consider it as one of the favorites. i was proven completely wrong! i immediately fell in love. i felt as if i a tiny forest, or river fairy landed on my shoulder and sprinkled some of her magic dust on me. lilyphéa is beautiful and delicate, a perfect amount of green, fresh and aquatic. the only disappointing part is the longevity, i truly could only smell it for about twenty minutes after putting it on — could just be me though, i was told it was all over my clothes days after. this one is a next buy for me. it’s for the girls that grew up collecting fairy statues and dreamt of living in a tiny cottage near a pond. diptyque does it again and again for me ♡

This is grandma's 12th floor balcony garden in Korea. Full of lotus, green lilypads in huge pots full of water dripping down into the drain, rows of orchid, and other plants all doused in the rainy season summer morning rain. Water pouring in from the windows and the wind carrying the scent into the living room. Even grandpa's distant complaining of the weather, the flickering sound of the lighter for his cigarettes, and the humming of the tv! It is all so vivid when I smell this. I think they captured the beauty of lily pads so well with this, every time I smell it I am blown away of how accurate it is. Absolutely adore it and it is now my every day fragrance. It brings me back to those good days. If Lilyphea has no fans consider me gone.

Such a stunning scent and a unique beauty in my collection 😍 Dewy, powdery violet (but not sticky Parma violets) with an infusion of cardamom and light vanilla. A touch of ginger adds a sweet spiciness. In some ways, I’m glad this isn’t beastly - makes the perfume a lot more adaptable. Especially for the days when you want your perfume to take a slight backseat. The price is exorbitant for its longevity, no two ways about it. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future there is an extrait - if Diptyque ever goes in that direction, they need to cut at least 25% off the RRP. — I have to add that this perfume also reminds me of tomato bar soaps that you can buy from artisanal craft shops in Northern Portugal 😍

Lilypads, clean spring water, in a forest in the morning You are young, at a home with a backyard that leads to a forest, it's a crisp spring morning, it's been getting warmer lately but the morning is still fresh enough. You walk through the drying linens in the garden and decide to go in that forest, a small pond with clear water and lilypads is what you find. You sit, your fresh clothes scent mixing with the dew of the morning and the freshness of the air, grass tickles your skin, morning doves sing and you're almost certain you heard cicada and even a frog, you are at the boundary between what your young mind thinks could be the fairies world and yours. It's the calmest you'll be today.

i tried a small sample but the smell is way more strong than the actual perfume bottle. i like the perfume bottle much much more ! it smells less leafy and becomes more soft leafy floral the longer it sits on your skin. it’s the perfect clean scent without smelling too heavy nor too soft. during the day, i get a whiff of this amazing soft clean fresh soapy floral scent. this perfume fits both warmer and colder weather. i bought mine on vinted for only 60€ and it’s definitely the real thing (just check the reviews and everything, i bought a sample before so i knew what to expect.) the original price is wayyyyy too high for this but i definitely get the hype !

I adore this perfume!! Definitely reminds me of a pond full of lily pads (but just the florals though, not the moist earthy pond itself). It’s very delicate, elegant, and yet also whimsical... the olfactory equivalent of a flute. Very calming and soothing as well. It’s true it doesn’t have the best sillage and longevity, which you might find important at this price point, but I actually don’t mind that at all because I have a lot of perfume bottles that I need to use up and also it just makes all the better for those with sensitive noses (this is the only perfume in my entire collection that I can tolerate while on my period).
