Ôponé

The scent starts out as a potent floral. It made me think of white flowers and yellow flowers mixed together...like mimose and lily of the valley mixed...but it's not, it's the saffron-and it's blooming brightly. I did not sense the rose so strongly. The spices are fantastic. The spices came out after about two hours. As it winds down, the spices persist, and the sensation of woody notes is wonderfully prominent. The sillage is excellent in the beginning of wear. So enjoyable that I could smell it all I wanted, when I moved slightly, or a breeze passed by my skin. In total, it has lasted four and a half hours on my arm, very faint now. And it's here at very last, that it becomes "masculine". A phrase that came to mind, from beginning to end of this scent, today was...(please permit me to wax poetic here)......"it seems like I am wearing nature"

My favourite spicy rose perfume. What a pity that it has been discontinued. I have a bottle that I bought in 2002 & am using it sparingly. I've tried to find its equivalent since. Paestum Rose comes close but the spices aren't as marked. Sa Majeste La Rose is too sweet. Maybe Nahema ?

Ôponé Diptyque I find opone is fairly similar to Eau Capitale without strong amber support The geranium rose that spicy and pot purri quality, I classified this as more floral fragrance. I believe this construct with patchouli and woody edge (coriander like). And vetiver, apart from spice. It leans Vetyverio / Eau Capitale. Airy and easy to wear, smell like pot purri rose in pensive manner. A bowl of dry rose pot purri. I don’t think this contains real rose. It’s Geranium. Nonetheless, beautiful. ===== December 15, 2025 Today, I revisit Opone after my visit first time in April 2025. Well, this is so enjoyable rose. Perhaps, I would love to call this a "Rose Skin" scent as if you applied a rose water and let it dry on your skin and all it left is a trace of Rose scent. The way they use Safforn to create a musky skin effect like, and rose is floating. An extension of Tea Rose genre. Well, It is a well created scent in modern perfumery. (This review is based of modern glass cracked bottle release in 2015 collection, I think I might venture to the older version).

This is the 2015 version of the original launched in 2001 as an Eau de Toilette. This fragrance is part of the three fragrances in La Collection Trente Quatre. This is NICE perfume a bit spice less than the rose calligraphy, less than chloe intense... just like the nice soft tone but elegant not to soft to the point that you don't smell anything in 15 mins like the eau rose dyptique. lol :D therapeutic wise, it works... I keep on thinking about it after the sample sprayed on me so I can't say I could care less ;)

Rose, saffron, tomato??, spices, oud. Don't get any cumin (thank goodness). This is a pretty typical rose oud scent, with a watery rose (not jammy) and a sour, not barnyard oud. The scent is dry and spicy, with the saffron being pretty prominent. I do really like the saffron note, it's well done. I'm getting a weird tomato skin note though, maybe from some combination of the oud/saffron/spices? I'll try it again sometime. Smells nice, but nothing groundbreaking. This reminds me of the rose/sour woody/spicy thing going on in the background of Tam Dao, one of my favorites from Diptyque. But without the rich sandalwood backbone, this scent doesn't stand out of the crowd. The drydown has that erasable marker smell that I get in some rose-ouds. Maybe p-cresol? Edit: retrying this one, still not really spicy, I get a rose / musk / tangy cassis like scent / dry wood (not barnyard) and a bug spray like tomato leaf green.

SAFFRON BOMB. I find that the wood and spice sometimes make this a good winter scent, but golly -- how I wish there were more rose! Perhaps it's my skin chemistry, but the saffron is so heavy on me that it overwhelms the rest of the notes and not always in a good way... someone even told me I smelled like "an Indian restaurant"! The lasting power is great, and sometimes I'm in the mood to smell a bit like spicy wood, but a touch more rose and this one could have been in my regular scent stable. (My bottle is the original 2001 version.)

wow, this is very strong at first. i smell a spicy rose with a hint of something herbal and green underneath. the saffron adds an interesting element, but i am not sure it really works with my skin chemistry unfortunately :/ something just seems off here, but i am not sure what it is. it's the underlying spicy-herbalness mixed with this rose, which is a bit sweet on me that somehow turns on my skin. bummer! i was so excited to try this and thought it would work well on me, but it doesn't.

Ôponé is a fragrance so revolting you’d think someone was joking, that it couldn’t possibly be real. But it is real, and I have a sample of it. It’s a vile cocktail of the following: a freshly-opened bottle of goopy, boozy-but-not-nearly-enough booze bitter berry Robitussin Maximum Strength Cough and Chest Congestion (possibly the one with Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin), the most repellent, unpalatable artificial fruity-sour energy drink on the shelf with the most outrageously obnoxious packaging, the one so disgusting and foul that even the people you think might be into it would never buy, and the saddest long-stemmed fake rose wrapped in dusty crinkly plastic at the gas station. Nobody wants any part of this. Throw it in the trash immediately.

I wore this for years day and night and always loved it. I loved the opening which was a peppery boozy heady rose to me and then more spices as the floral faded. I still have the empty bottle which I smell whenever I want to transport back to a specific time and place - in this case New York in the 2000s I was young and excited and I smelled great. Now that its back I better buy a bottle and see if I can get a little of that back!

I asked for a sample of this because I love rose notes mixed with spices. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with this scent. I can't get any of the notes listed. It smells to me like sweet wine (specifically Mistela, a type of wine from the south-east of Spain). It's quite strong and has good sillage. I wouldn't wear Opone but my boyfriend liked it.

I just got this as a free sample from Diptyque. Pepper,pepper and more pepper. Don't get any rose or saffron. Silage. Minimal and longevity weak. Perhaps my skin chemistry and Opone just don't mix. Try before you buy.

Hello guys, good news! Diptyque is relaunching this scent. You can find it in Diptyque boutique in USA and department stores in other countries soon. I personally can't wait to sample it.
