Orphéon Solid Perfume

I love smelling Orpheon, but on my skin Jasmine smells sharp and like pee. As a result I didn't have much of a reason to keep the bottle, but I'm glad I found the solid perfume. Being a wax-oil product it doesn't project florals all that well, but you still keep the cool, almost petrichor effect of the juniper berry note and there's just enough jasmine to create the powdery woody note at the center of the fragrance. Projection is alright, but the fragrance truly shines in longevity. I might dab this on, spray another fragrance on it and after a six or so hours i'll get hit with a whiff of the woody bar on a cold late autumn evening. 100% recommend if you also love the smell of Orpheon but the EDP doesn't play well with your skin chemistry.

I love this one so much. Because it's a solid perfume, it won't project as much but I still have received quite a lot of compliments for this from people I've hugged. Soft, sweet and floral. Simple, but gorgeous.

Cedar i what I smell the most. It's gorgeous. It's very woody. I agree with others that it's timeless. I agree though it would not project as much as others. I don't get much powder either, mostly woods!

I prefer this to the Orpheon EDP spray because it still projects similarly, but has a less jasmine-forward profile.

Oh so subdued... With the heaviest finger gouging and smothering on a wrist, you will evoke the fragrance, but it is like smelling the original Orpheon though a cotton soap flannel. (I wrote this while smelling the solid on one, and the EDP totally separately on another wrist, and the EDP has an additional dimension for sure, it has juniper berries and fragrant wood) This solid perfume should be considered a totally different fragrance to the solid. It is nice but subdued and Diptyque should not have attempted to name it 'Orpheon' after the original liquid. What a shame... Cotton, soapy, incomparable Edit; on a very hot day, once the solid wax has soften and your own skin has warmed considerably, the scent projects much better and the juniper is detectable so it smells marginally less waxy cottony - it still is not worth the high price point for the amount of product required, it is simply incomparable to the liquid EDP fragrance

While I like Orpheon, I am not among the people who could rave about this scent. It is indeed effortless, clean (a bit soapy too) and unique, quite aspirational qualities to my mind, but I guess I am just more drawn to cosy and warm perfumes. Now that I‘ve written it down I think it lacks warmth. I am not necessarily saying I should either wear warm or cold scents, but I just can‘t express why this particular (and popular) scent doesn‘t resonate with me. The tonka bean comes across so differently in this one. However, if you are deliberating whether you should get the solid perfume, I think it has great value. It does not have a sillage at all, but it’s quite longlasting on my skin. When I apply this before bedtime I can still smell it in the morning. In saying all this, I must say I do not own the EDP and although I tested the latter, I was not convinced to purchase a full bottle. Lastly, I prefer this chic container format with the emblem to travel sizes/glass bottles.

This is my signature perfume. It's timeless and fabulous. Imagine yourself as a flapper girl in a speakeasy with your best friend that you have a lesbian rumor with. You're gilded with a softly iridescent peacock colored dress with beaded details and a curly black bob. You're passively smoking a cigarette with a long crimson cigarette holder. Wear this at your job to assert dominance, or at the club when you ask someone for a dance also to assert dominance. Know how to wear a muted red lip with black lip liner if you want to wear Orpheon.

I’m surprised they still sell solid fragrance. Feel like it’s a gimmick trend that has long since expired
