Philosykos Eau de Parfum 2012

My first Diptyque love that got me into the world of fragrance and the house of Diptyque. I would consider myself vain. The bottle is perfectly unique for me to feel a sense of pride when I hold it, admiring the art that I usually overlook because I am just so focused on what I should smell like that I easily forget to appreciate the things I have. At the moment of writing this, I had 5 more fragrances enter my wishlist, mais I digress. Despite its EDP status, Philosykos lives in its fleeting glory as a refreshing, fruity, and green work of modern art. I feel dramatic just even saying that but I just find this so pleasing to the nose. I did have a moment (about 2 months) where I found the smell too synthetic and sickening to even wear, but I guess it passed a while ago. Philosykos opens vegetal and fruit-esque, reminding me of some peach, some coconut, some fig, some fruit. This fruit makes way for something woody and even more green and sappy, before leaving stage-right. And right on cue comes the accidental: black pepper. It's spicy but not fizzy like pink pepper, hence its status as an accidental. I find myself either becoming anosmic or the scent is actually gone, but I can smell it on clothes probably a day later, strapped onto a few strands of cloth before evaporating into the ether. I wish I could summarize a fragrance into a review better, because I feel like a hypocrite for becoming frustrated at reviews for not being explicit enough. Now I understand how impossible it seems to complete this task with the plethora (sarcastic) amount of words we have to describe smells in the English language. An endeavor that was exciting, nonetheless. I would give it an 8/10 for scent, 10/10 for bottle, 6/10 for longevity.

I've waited a long time to write a review for this marvelous perfume. It begins with the scent of green leaves. It is so realistic and vivid that you are immediately captivated. I'm not a fan of green, but I fell in love with it. In the middle notes, I get the feeling that it has just rained and you are holding a flower stem and it breaks in your hand. The juice comes out of the center. It's not the kind of green you would ever eat, it doesn't look like a vegetable. It's floral green. The smell gradually develops into a very "creamy" aroma. It's like putting a white, pure lotion on your skin. Bright juicy green and pure soft white... Towards the end, I feel the texture of figs (this is a raw/unripe fruit) that I should have felt at the beginning. It is accompanied by woody notes, I think the wood here is something soft like sandalwood. I've read that it's cedar, but cedar doesn't have this citrusy character. This soft green feeling lingers for a long time. It brings peace and happiness. I've never tried the EDT, so I can't make a comparison, but I'm glad I bought the EDP, it couldn't be better.

Here's some freshly cut fig branches to go with your dripping fig sap to go with your torn fig leaves to go with your crushed fig fruit! FIG FIGGITY MOTHER-FRIGGIN' FIG!" You're a kid again, climbing trees fearlessly after the last day of the school before summer break. Later in the summer, you spend your days gathering twigs, bark, and leaves from the forest floor to create a witches brew and your hands are covered in dirt, sap, and crushed greenery. I adore this scent (preferring the EDP over the EDT). It's a slightly lactonic fragrance, without being coconut-y/suntan lotion-y. The fig sap note is 100% realistic - I clipped a branch off a neighbor's fig tree the other day and smelled it and immediately thought, "Whoa. That's Philosykos!". The creaminess of the fig sap intermingles with the peppery woodiness of the fig bark/stems, and is lifted by the fresh fig leaf vegetal notes.

My friend bought this scent and after some time, found he did not enjoy it as much, finding it a bit too soft/feminine. I was lucky enough to have the bottle donated to me. I really like this scent:) It's a fresh dive in a sunny green field surrounded by fig trees fresh in bloom. Its not quite light nor heavy, its probably right in between. I really enjoy wearing this crisp green scent. It has some warm aspects to get as well. You can pick out some of the notes like fig and grassy-field notes, but its all very well blended together. Longevity is average along with projection. I would say it is a softer scent, perfect for Spring/Summer and even early Fall. Recommend this to any that are interested! I'm definitely looking forward to trying more scents from Diptyque. Longevity: 6/10 (4-5 hours) Projection: 5/10 (Soft projection) Scent: 9/10 (Very pleasant, love)

This is such a beautiful fragrance, super fresh like you just broke a branch from a fig tree and you're smelling the wet interior. But its not all top crisp green, theres some warmth, softly sweet woodsy/milky interior and it all kind of tingles from the pepper. Even at EDP it doesn't last very long. I also have the limited EDT and its really quite different- EDT is way sharper and almost bitter I more distinctly smell I suppose a "photo realistic" kind of fig scent-grassier-more vegetal. I much prefer the EDP which seems to lean more into the leaves and gentle tree wood as an avenue toward expressing "fig." No coconut in site on the EDP for me, on my skin, although I asked my significant other (who is not a fragrance person at all) to smell it blind and he said he smelled coconut.

I absolutely love this scent. It's a classic for a reason. Perfect for the office, all year around. HOWEVER... I am so, so disappointed in its longevity. It'll last for two hours at most. I don't think I'm becoming anosmic to it. Others can't smell it on me after two hours either... my quick solution to this is to apply Kuumba Made's Coconut perfume oil (it was only $10 USD at Whole Foods) to my pulse points and to spray Philosykos afterwards. Helps just a little bit while bringing out the coconut note without sacrificing the photorealistic aspect of the perfume. I've seen people say that it's just a Diptyque thing, and that their fragrances aren't recognized for their performance. I disagree. I have a few EDPs and EDTs from them and the EDTs have lasted for at least four hours.

coming from a place where we don't have figs, I don't know how they smell. I just got Philosykos maybe because I got intrigued by the reviews and was curious how a whole fig tree would smell like. It wasn't ''love at first sniff". First spray was a strong coconut smell (can't decide if I like it or not) and after a few seconds that smell of damp leaves with dirt blew me away... It blew me away not in a "wow, I love this" but more of "wow, how did replicate such realistic leaves smell?" It smells so earthy. The dry down was more creamy with the coconut fading slightly. I've been wearing it for it 3 days and it's finally growing on me. Just like what others say, it's not a safe blind buy but its worthy of a signature scent

I got a sample of this EDP from Surrender to Chance decanters, and I would highly recommend that company firstly. I am relatively new to perfume, so I an by no means an expert. This is now my #1 favorite perfume, and I know it will be hard to beat. I can't say I've ever smelled a fig tree , so I cannot speak to the similarity, but this smells like an amazing, juicy, green fruit still attached to the branch. It sits so beautifully on my skin with moderate sillage. I wish it lasted longer, but it's pretty faded by 3 hours, and completely gone by 5/6 on me. Definitely not a cheap fragrance, but I will not use it sparingly because it's too good to not drown myself in multiple times a day!

Iconic, classic at this point. Love this on a hot summer day, it deepens and reduces to a really rich, natural, sweet and syrupy fragrance like a fig does once it ripens. With this fragrance you watch the figs sprout and grow and ripen, they hang off the trees perfectly ripe forever, you hang in the space where you envision every permutation of the future in each fig and you get to reach out and bite into each one and savor the sweetness instead of curling up under the tree helplessly watching the figs drop and rot around you. Once when I was wearing this someone said they think they smelled the same scent on a hot art dealer before. Wish it had better staying power on me.

take the reviews on here with a grain of salt because this lasts FOREVER on me. people around me who know nothing about fragrance will pick it up on me after 7+ hours of wear, and in the late summer too. i can smell it almost constantly on myself; if i decide to be aware of it, it’s there for me to notice. beyond the longevity, i think it’s a beautiful scent. the initial spray is just a little too sour for me, but it quickly dries down to the most wonderful green and fruity fig scent. shocking, i know. it certainly delivers. makes me dream of my trip to greece at the end of the year. if only i could save for it instead of buying fragrances!

The most natural-smelling fig perfume! If you grew up on the Mediterranean, you know the feeling of the fig milk on your fingers as you make your way into the garden. It would be sticky and sweet, and would stay on your skin forever. This scent is so evoking to me, it makes me happy and I want to shower in it. It doesn’t necessarily smell like a perfume, but more like « something ». Yes, it is a true niche fragrance. It is going to be exclusive to whoever have a connection with the « something », and it makes it beautiful and special. The scent is green, milky, fruity, and a tiny bit woody. So complex and beautiful! A true love.

Tried it because I heard so many good things about it and at first I was pretty disappointed. It just smelled like wet plants. The more I wore it though, when I was trying to finish my sample, the more it grew on me. I liked the slight sweetness, the hint of coconuts, the kind of rainy, foggy accord like an overcast day. I even get a spicy, peppery note, that I wouldn't think would work with a green fragrance, but it sure does. It's a very sophisticated scent, clean and fresh, definitely unisex. Only drawback (other than the price, yikes) is the lasting time, but even then I can smell it for a good 6 hours or so.

i mean, it’s not quite GROUNDBREAKING - philosykos is a fig scent, and a fig scent only; but it does a simple thing so very perfectly it seems to render all others useless. it is more than just being in a fig orchard - smelling this seems to make you embody harvesting them, eating them straight picked from the branches after a sunshower. the longevity on my skin is pretty weak - even with the EdP i got about four hours, with two of those hours offering decent projection; but for those two hours the scent stays close at hand, coy and subtle, so simply beautiful you could cry.

Such an unexpected favorite. I never thought I would enjoy smelling like a tree. It opens quite green. You can close you eyes and swear you were surrounded by fig leaves. After a while, the intensity of the leafy notes fade and the fig fruit begins to emerge. As it softens, a sweeter, fruity quality takes over right before it morphs into a beautiful, milky skin scent. My summer days are forever changed for the better. When indoors, it will remind you of outside and when outside, you'll feel more connected than before. A great introduction to natural green scents.

At first it is reminiscent of freshly cut grass, then the fig comes through, and you suddenly find yourself in a fig garden after a rain shower. Later on you pick some of the figs and as you take a bite, the delicious sweetness of the ripe fig melts in your mouth. I find the EDP creamier and richer, longer lasting than the EDT. The EDT is much more Cedary, the Cedarwood comes through, therefore giving it a fresher, almost citrusy scent. I like using the EDP in Winter, as I find it a tad warmer than the EDT, I am just simply inseparable from Philosykos.

I am now an official member of the fig-loving club, after trying both this and Profumum Romas Ichnusa. I love both, even though I find Ichnusa a bit more evocative. Very green and fresh opening - LEAFY - dries down creamy green, but not sweet. Fig all the way down. I don't really get the wood notes though. It is perfect for summer and also great for studying and office work because it has that refreshing and meditative green energy. Two sprays and get about 3 hours before I have to re-apply. Layering it with tam dao has also been a great success!

As a kid, my grandfather had 2 fig trees in his backyard that I would sit at for hours it seemed pulling, peeling, and eating the figs. And that's exactly what this smells like. The earthiness from the fig tree wood, sap, and fig skin, the milk that comes out of the ones that aren't quite ripe enough. Then finally, in the background is a bit of the sweet fruit.. The most realistic fig fragrance I have ever smelled and that I think is even possible to make. This one will stay in my collection mostly bc of the nostalgia factor.

+ I always thought I liked the EDT more than the EDP until today. I bought a used bottle of Philosykos EDP and I love it! I even like it more than the EDT because the EDP smells woodier, smoother and sparkly somehow. I'm totally shocked. The EDP is incredibly beautiful. If I had to give up all my perfumes and could only keep one, it would be this one. This perfume is nostalgia in a bottle for me. It reminds me of love. . . of my regular walks and jogs in the woody and dewy hills of NZ with my favorite person in the world. 🤗

LOVEEEEE! This scent is such a nostalgic fig scent of my holiday home in Sicily. It’s beautifully ‘green’ and the smell definitely reminds me of the skin of a fig. HOWEVER, the smell of this perfume really reminds me of the core of a sweet and juicy nectarine, and I find it bizarre that nobody else has mentioned this... it’s milky and soft and sweet in a comforting and subtle way. Just perfect. I finally feel like I’ve found my signature scent after such a long time figuring out my favourite notes.

Opens with 100% natural fig leaves and fruit. Not too sweet and very unisex. Dries down to fig fruit but not too sweet and 0% powdery. Very feminine in that phase and beyond. Doesn't change beyond that, and after spending a day with it on my clothes and skin to see if there's anything odd lurking in my chemistry, went and bought a bottle of it. No regrets. Sillage is mediocre at first, later it's a skin scent but unlike most perfumes that become skin scents this one doesn't disappear for ~24h.

Smelled this and bought it immediately. I get fig, fig tree, fig leaf, and some more fig. Gosh, I love figs. It’s not overly sweet like many fruit inspired fragrances are. Just a freshly picked fig, it’s beautiful. Figs bring back memories from trips to Croatia as a kid. Bet 10 year old me would be happy I now smell exactly like a fig tree. The only downside for me is that I can’t smell it on my skin after ~3 hours, though other people probably can. I’d say EDP > EDT, definitely.

Wonderful realistic milky fig scent. An incredibly green body which is balanced out by seductive coconut and wood accords. Absolutely scrumdiddliumptious BUT way too expensive for me to justify purchasing - I'm much happier buying a dupe and having the occasional indulgent huff of this one at Mecca. Staying power is also disappointing given the extremely high price point. However if you really love the scent as much as I do & am willing to indulge in a bottle, I'd say go for it!

Greek summer in a bottle. It is blended so well - woody, green, with just a hint of sweetness. Amazing recreation of the whole fig tree - sap, leaves, branches and fruit. The most prominent note is the smell of sap oozing from the branch after you pick the fig from the tree. If the sap would stick to your hands and you’d smell it, this is how Philosykos mostly smells like. Is so realistic. Masterpiece for the hot, humid summer days (and evenings).

Currently my favourite summer fragrance. Perfect for a hot summer day. Opens very green, smelling like fig leaves, and settles down to a more fruity fig before drying down beautifully woody. I first got a sample of this and it was love at first sniff for me, needed a full bottle immediately and the dent I have created in just a little over a month is substantial because it is just such a good scent for the hot Portuguese summer months.

The opening is very green and fresh, but also curiously soft. No hard edges or dry notes at all, very similar to smelling a real living plant. In the drydown, this all-pervasive softness transforms into a very familiar smell... Eventually, as the green notes faded a bit, it clicked that I'm smelling a coconut. But it's an unripe green coconut or maybe a green coconut smoothie. An interesting combination, and also a pleasant one.

a really leafy green, vegetal, fig scent that i adore! so so fresh, it's not cloyingly sweet at all. it evokes the entirety of a fig tree. my mother, who despises the majority of fragrances, even said i smelt good! its definitely unisex and would be really pleasing on everyone. it's the perfect scent to bring the outdoors wherever you go, and very fitting for spring/summer. def can't wait to wear it more then :)

A very, very realistic fig + fig leaf + fig tree scent. Literally feels like I picked a fig, snapped a branch, and rubbed a few leaves on my hand. This is not really my type but weirdly I like it as it has calm, green nuance for me. A few minutes afted spraying it, the smell become creamy, green, woody. Overall a sophisticated fragrance. The downside is it does not last long on my skin

This fragrance is truly unisex. It’s such a lovely fragrance that pairs well with the south Florida heat. I’ve tried DS and Durga Debaser and I prefer Philosykos. Philosykos is not as metallic smelling and has a more creamier coconut smell on my skin. I’m surprised others are complaining about longevity. The fragrance lasted for about 7 hours on my skin and clothes in a humid climate.

Philosykos is a delicious dry fig well blended scent. Not overmixed with other unnecessary ingredients that would dilute what Olivia was after. Very well presented. It is comparable with Atelier Cologne’s fig if you enjoy quality fruit blends, those two are the ones at the market that are worth trying when you are enchanted with fig accords.

Yes yes yes I want to smell like a fig tree. Was torn between this and Hermes Jardin mediterranea, but as lovely as it is -- I love its fresh and creamy texture -- it disappears like a breeze. Is it because my sample is old? I really want to buy this but it's really not worth the price if even the EDP doesn't last longer than a sneeze.

Oh how I WISH it would last longer on me! I absolutely love the fig leaf note. Even though it’s not listed in the pyramid — I smell a really strong white peach vibe. I love it so much but I feel like it evaporates after 1 or 2 hours. It’s green, it’s creamy, it’s mediterranean — it’s perfect if you’re longing for summer.

Very very nice, it reminds me of the smell of fig trees releasing their perfume in the hot sun when I was on the Greek Island of Skopelos. Absolute Love but not for me to wear, I bought a bottle for an xmas present for Mum. This fragrance performance best in the hot summer heat, good thing Mum lives down under in Oz.

This has been my signature summer scent for years. Simply put, most realistic green and creamy fig scent. If you're looking for a fig dominant scent, no need to search more, it's a waste of time. For a summer scent, longevity is above average. Sillage is average. Highly recommend!

I never knew how a fig tree smelled, and if it smelled anything like this fragrance, I would love it. This will be my definition of a green scent now. It's so fresh it's addictive! It has better longevity than Ilio, but I still wish it had stayed on me longer than three hours.

If I could only keep one perfume, this would be it. Captures that first spring hike in a bottle. Fresh but complex, I don’t get the fruit so much as the leaves and wood. A minor drawback is that this feels unnatural worn outside in winter, but it still works indoors. Perfect.

My EDP has NO coconut. The EDT does, but not this EDP. I like the woodier fig scent of the EDP, it's also meatier fig. If I had to compare my EDT agains EDP I would say that EDT is greener, lighter, sunny and EDP is an old huge fig tree that provides a lot of shade.

the perfume that got me into fragrance!! perfect scent that balances sweet and fruitiness from the fig and almost coconut-y note with green/fresh notes that help the scent feel more androgynous than overly sweet. sometimes easy to become anosmic to the scent though

I frickin' LOVE it. This will be my summer love this year. First it smelled like rotten coconut, rubber and some kind of medicine, I hated it, but it dried down to an absolute beauty. It's fresh, green and I can say it's a mood, not just a simple smell. Art.

The most realistic fig I have smelled also resembles the smell of a peach but it really reminds me of a morning in greece, for a refreshening, fruity, sweet fragrance it isnt sickening and you wont smell like anyone around you with its unique scent.

The most stunning green opening I’ve smelt in my life. It’s almost like fresh cut grass has been shoved right under my nose or I have fig leaves right in my hands. Slowly the opening fades and gives way to a fig milk/sap. Introducing the coconut.

If you want enjoy it you have to Imagination as you are sitting where is fir-tree above you during you're eating a coconut cake was wrapped in banana leaf. A smells of dense green.This's a niche therefor it's art not sexy.

reminds me of something from my childhood, eating crisp fresh fruit in my grandmother's store. very pleasant. i prefer this smell in the fall/winter and i feel like it's so generally pleasing to those around me

I really love this fragrance, but I wish it had better longevity. No regrets in purchasing it, but in hindsight I would probably buy Matiere Premiere’s Parisian Musc instead, which smells similar.

Like snapping a branch from a fig tree, fantastically green and milky, just beautiful. Like Fico Di Amalfi but more green and without the citrus, it's honestly my favourite summer fragrance.

Freshly cut grass, milky nectar. Probably one of the "sweetest" perfumes I really enjoy, because those natural sugars are cut with herby grass accords. Feels balanced and is fun to wear.

this is SO green and so fresh and i just want to bathe in it forever.. it smells like you’re having a picnic just absentmindedly picking grass and leaves apart i love it

I love it, my favorite summertime fragrance. It's green and woody, smells like bitterish fig leaves and juicy figs.

Nothing smells like this. A fig tree walking. Nice and fresh.

The opening here is lush. The brightness of the fig is so ripe it’s almost tangible. The green quality holds it back from becoming sweet, instead giving a creamy, fleshy, almost waxy realism just like tearing apart a ripe fig itself. The coconut is gently complimentary and thirst-quenching. No overbearing fruitiness here, just green, green, green. Leafy at times; you’ve picked this fruit yourself. I wish the opening lasted longer. Maybe forever! The dry down is simply woody to me, and on my skin it just smells the same as the Santal 33 dry down. A little more spicy with the black pepper perhaps, but after a few hours they’re almost indistinguishable. Maybe my skin doesn’t like woody notes as much as I want it to... It’s not unpleasant but it’s nothing complex or intriguing either. Ultimately the fig is the star here. The dampness of the opening is so summery, think early morning rather than heat of the day, I’m going to give it a few more blasts and see what happens.
