Vetyverio Eau De Parfum

This is one of my husband's current summer favorites since we bought it in Diptyque's Boutique in Berlin in spring. As I'm not wearing it myself (yet) I'm not really able to tell in detail how it develops or blooms over time. On my husband, however, it's one of the most crisp and clean vetiver scents I've ever smelled. There's no earthiness, nothing dirty or deep, it's just ultra clean and crisp and I love it. Projection is insane. In European spring weather I could smell it on him all throughout the day no matter if he was standing next to me waiting at a traffic light or if he was several meters away from me looking at something in a shop. Seriously, it's almost felt as if he had tiny fans constantly blasting the scent into his surroundings. Or picture a bunch of cartoon citrus fruits tossing bundles of fresh pure vetiver right at your face. Back at home in hot humid Mumbai it was a bit muted down but still definitely there. Let's say instead of tossing bundles of fresh vetiver in your face now the cartoon citrus fruits keep lifting a basket of it gingerly up to your nose every once in a while throughout the day. As for longevity there is also nothing to complain about. I can easily smell it on my husband still the following morning after he wore it. Again, we're talking about a day in the humid heat with lots of sweating. Unless you take a proper shower it will stay with you. For now it is kind of his signature this summer, so I myself haven't reached for it yet. But then some days I don't even have to, cause if I give him a hug within half an hour of him applying it I will also smell of it for a good chunk of the day. In short, wonderful fresh and clean interpretation of vetiver. Great quality juice with amazing sillage and longevity.

Vetiver can have many facets, depending of which part of plant is used and the method of ecxtraction. The origin of the plant also has its impact, but in a more limited manner compared to the first two factors. Vetiver centered fragrance can thus be divided in 3 major categories: green/bright and leafy, fresh grassy green and rooty/earthy/nutty hay-ish yellow/grey. This one is definitely part of the 3rd category, like for example Encre Noire, Fat Electrician, Etro, Malle and Givenchy. That said, of all the ones I just cited, this one is my favourite. It is quite linear, simple, but made to perfection and very close to pure vetiver oil extracted from the roots. It is strong but not as strong as Etros', it is elegant but not as formal as Givenchy's, it is hay-ish/brown, but without leaning on the earthy side like Encre Noire, thanks to a subtle fresh rose note that rounds the edges and keeps the blend nearly unisex. The grapefruit is noticeable in the opening, then keeps a hint of freshness in the blend without being invasive (unlike the sharp rough citruses in Grey Vetiver). I don't get the patchouli, but for sure it plays a role, together with the rose. A masterpiece that I love and that vetiver lovers cannot miss, although I wish it performed a bit better given its high price point. Spring/Fall days, 30+ Edit: I now get a great performance: 2 hours good projection, another 4-5 hours of moderate projection, and another 18-20 hours (!!) as a noticeable skin scent. Good job Dyptique!

Vetyverio Eau De Parfum (Full bottle 75 ml.) Today, It is slightly cloudy so I wear VetyVerio. It eventually rains. VetyVerio opening is very tight. That prominent Fruity Citrus tone. With strong Earthy note, I don't enjoy the opening. However, when the scent release its Earthiness opening. There was a 2-3 hours that scent smells beautiful to my nose. It is soft Rosy, Vetiver centric fragrance along with lightness from Citrus. I think, charm of VetyVerio is how Citrus significant lighten the vetiver. Somehow, I think of wall of thorns and vines and sleeping beauty castle. My local perfumer suggest that Citrus, goes along well with Vetiver. It ground the citrus quality to be long lasting. I think this true, I still softly sniff the fruit. But it can smell like Lemongrass too, but in this it was mauve to soft rosy hue. Resulting in soft fruity rose and earthy vetiver. The scent soften to ambient of fruity, amboxan, vetiver around 5 hours post wear. And all the rose is almost gone, but it leaves very clean and nice skinscent. This is not overly dirty, I have sniff way too earthy vetiver (Vetiver Java, Perris Monte). But retains the beauty of natural vetiver. I think this is very properly done natural vetiver fragrance. 9/10

This is a salient point in case of how it’s better to apply fragrance on skin to get a rounded experience of it. From the atomizer is good, from a blotter’s good, but those aspects only allow you to experience a facet of a fragrance. So, i say that to say: when i first purchased this (2018) i did so only after having worn it via a sample from Diptyque. I couldn’t get enough of the stuff. However, after having purchased it, i seldomly reached for it. Big reason being: i decide my sotd by sniffing the atomizer. Hence, my point. Whenever i do wear this, i almost always kick myself for not using it more because it SMELLS SO GOOD on skin. Via atomizer it smells slightly dirty and kinda weird. This is indeed unique. Done in a way only Diptyque can construct. The smell like section, in typical fashion—at least of the ones I’ve smelled—is straight cap. The only tie between them being a prominent vetiver note. Anyways: unisex-male, any age above 20, casual, daytime, transitional weather and office appropriate... Good stuff. NOTE: I’m going to stand on there being iris in this. Most notably in the drydown. Does anyone else get that??

My Nose: Notes are vetiver, vetiver and more vetiver! Any other notes here are quickly forgotten. For me, it’s dry and earthy. Maybe the soil is slightly humid. But it’s neither smoky nor damp. Versatile, and I could imagine this being a base upon which to layer, if one chooses to do so. As a lady, I love it, but I could see where some could perceive it to be more masculine targeted. Unique: I love this when I get the itch for vetiver, but don’t feel like the usual mix of V with lively citrus and/or ginger, or even the more complex Sycamore (which I love too, obvi!). This is a rooty vetiver, straight up, no chaser. I like this simplistic, minimalist composition. Linear, but certainly not boring. Seasonally versatile: The lack of citrus makes this a year-rounder, rain or shine. Not sure about extreme cold, but it may very well work for that, too. Performance: Goldilocks, for me. Longevity is fantastic, thus making this a great value! Projection can be moderated by sprays. If you want something soft, may only need one. Value: The value matches Dyptique price. Very worthy. Two thumbs up.

Been sitting on a decant of this I got in trade for months. Finally sprayed myself yesterday and man was I blindsided!! This has to be the best vetiver I've ever smelled in my life. All this time I was sitting on a secret gem & didn't even know it! All day I couldn't stop getting whiffs off my hand. I couldn't stop smelling myself... Oh so heavenly!! The rose compliments this composition in a way I couldn't describe if I tried. It's a perfect blend of Rose, vetiver, Mandarin, patchouli & grapefruit. So smooth & refreshing that I couldn't help but think, Tom Ford grey what? For the first time in my life, after wearing this for an hour, I immediately bought a full bottle cause this will always be a staple in my collection. On my skin this lasted the entire day into the next morning. Projection is a good 4 feet for about 6 hours then it sits closer to the skin but the scent just doesn't go away until you wash it off. Well worth a full bottle purchase & if you like vetiver frags, GET YOUR NOSE ON THIS ONE ASAP!!

I am a fan of vetiver. I do like when it is fresher. I do find this one has similarities to Lalique Encre Noire, but I could not find myself loving Encre Noire. It was too muddy for me. Vetyverio EDP is slightly fresher with its opening and minimal notes. I had a sample awhile back and I did not love it right away. It took me a few times wearing it in the warmer weather to get it. It grew on me. It's not a universal love but there is a distinct yet gentle vetiver that I like. It's not as fresh as Tom Ford Grey Vetiver or citrus-y as Hermes Terre d'Hermes, but the heavy douse of Haitian Vetiver is calming and sweet without being cloying. I finally bought a bottle for this summer. However, I am finding that the sillage are poorer now than in my sample. Not sure why. I get really good performance and sillage on my L'Ombre Dans L'Eau EDP. I still like Vetyverio EDP but will need spray more and wear it in autumn than summer.

This is Diptyque's "clean" rose scent. I definitely get the citrus and the vetiver, but rose is the star here. Thankfully I really enjoy the way Diptyque does rose so I am not at all mad about the rose-forward nature of this, but I can see folks who expected more vetiver being disappointed. Eau Rose in both EDT and EDP is a bright pink, freshly picked rose out of a dewy garden on a lovely spring morning, and Eau Capitale is a sensuous, earthly rose chypre that calls to mind both mystery and sophistication. Vetyverio is an almost sporty rose supported by a lovely dose of vetiver and citrus, good for brisk mornings or a subtle office scent; it is more subdued, I think, than the other two rose powerhouses from the brand. That said, I do really enjoy the fragrance, but beware--this is a rose scent, in spite of the name, so for most folks it will lean feminine.

The opening is really juicy and sharp, it's a nice grapefruit, however more sour unlike the grapefruit in Bleu de Chanel. Then theres an ominous and lingering tone of earth and woods from the vetiver. It's extremely herbal, so mysterious. I'm not a big fan of vetiver but I actually really like this theres something so unusual about it. I layered this with some Santal 33 and it smells heavenly. The rose is the binder, it's less of a sweet rose and more of a natural damp rose smell, something you'd get after rain. I think it could project a bit better, however I'm pretty sure vetiver just behaves this way naturally so there isn't much to do about that. Overall a worthy scent, great for the summer and fall.

There is definitely a time and a place to spray this on you. It's so weird and ambivalent... Spray it during the day. The heat and breeze of the morning or afternoon waft the sharpness off the skin and leave a nice, woody, aromatic scent bubble around you. It transforms into something refreshing within the heat of the sun. Spray it during the night... and it's not that pleasant. It reminds me of peanuts, and it causes my acid reflux to go crazy. Heart burn central, and more stressful than refreshing... I don't get it. But, as long as I don't use it once the sun has set, I feel like it's good! Great, even.

I got a sample from a friend of the edT and truly fell in love. I decided to buy the edP in hope for better longevity, because Diptyque’s eau de toilettes have infuriatingly bad longevity. I don’t know about the other ones, but this have more or less the same, poor longevity as the edT has. I love it but could have save a lot of money buying the edT instead. It is one of the best vetiver perfumes out there though. It’s quite linear, but in the best possible way. The vetiver, enhanced by the citrus notes smells truly sexy. A little smoky, green and woody at the same time.

There is something about this fragrance that's very comforting. It reminds me so much of how top soil smells in the Pacific Northwest that sometimes I can't differentiate what I'm actually smelling in the perfume and things my memory is adding. It's a little sweet and a little dirty, like something you would smell outside, but I think that's what makes it refreshing to me. Unfortunately, my mom loves this fragrance, too, and steals it when she thinks her clothes smell bad 😭

This new edp concentration is fantastic! I prefer it over the eau de toilette. Starts with fresh, green, citrusy and a bit harsh vetiver which I love. Then it follows a wooden path and becomes quiet for a while to suddenly enchant you with a warm, cozy and sophisticated base composed of rose, patchouli and vetiver. Hats off for this new concoction, Diptyque!

Blind buy, my first niche fragrance and beginning of love with Diptyque. Beautiful vetiver and definitely my favorite. Unisex, slightly more masculine than EDT. Earthy, but not dirty. Complimented by citruses that make it brighter. I ended up sharing the bottle with my partner since it works amazing with his skin, but I really enjoy wearing it also.

I really love this version! It is a modern, floral, woodsy vetiver that is blended beautifully with a juicy citrus that has just a brilliant hint of bitterness on the finish. The type that keeps you going back to the wrist. If you've ever chewed on a rose petal, you know the bitter I mean. This may sound strange, but it plays great on the skin.

This is a perfume for all genders, all seasons and all locations. Perfectly fine for office and going out, perfectly fine for summer and winter. Also, you can show everyone that you are wearing something more niche. Highly recommend getting this one. It only gets outperformed by perfumes, which are made for a specific season or event.

I love this one.. particularly in spring/summer months. Ignoring the listed notes, to me the opening spray smells herbal and it's actually the bit I enjoy the most. For the first hour or so I get a moderate sillage but it then becomes a beautiful, clean and light skin scent. Perfect for warm days.

This is a great frag. Vetiver + Rose combo smells exquisite. Rose is not a prominent but the blend is beautiful. Very versatile and can be worn all year round. Love it ❤️

This has really grown on me. Long-lasting, civilised and outstanding quality materials. The smoothness of Haitian vetiver is here in all its magnificence. I am in love

It smells pure vetiver with touch of woody notes and fresh, uplifting citrues opening. If you vetiver lover, you must try Vetyverio. Amazing!

If you like rooty, herbal, medicinal, ginseng-like vetiver with a substantial backbone(ex. Encre Noire and Sycomore), do give this one a try.

I've had a sample of this sitting on my shelf for awhile and just tried it today for the first time, and have to admit it's quite lovely. I appreciate that it smells exactly like its ingredients profile: vetiver, citrus, and Turkish rose. The only thing that is very backgrounded for me is the patchouli. In a way, it's a type of chypre. The perfume has an exceptionally bright opening, leaving me wondering if the grapefruits are complimented by an aldehyde (or two). It settles into a dance of vetiver and rose, which is a great combination. I don't find this to be very "woody" or "earthy" because the rose shifts everything into a more floral territory. Even after the drydown, this still feels bright and has lingerings of citrus. It feels like the top notes keep carrying onward. Very gender neutral too with a lot of flexibility. I could both see this as a masculine and a feminine scent. It makes for a great day scent, and something that feels closest to springtime to me. Great longevity and decent sillage. Despite having a love for surprising rose and this feeling like a somewhat unique take on vetiver, it doesn't really feel like a good match for me. There's a slight bitterness and burstingness to this that I find a little bit grating as time goes on. If you're someone who chases the highs of top notes, this might be a match for you.

This one has knocked me right out of my vetiver rut. Ever since the Sycomore change from EDT to EDP (and the bastardization that my beloved Sycomore went through), I've been searching for a vetiver that moves me. I've gone through so many, no need to list them. I finally gave up and turned my attention to fall oriental scents. As Calvini points out, the floral mid notes really propel this. I do get the rose, and immediately made me think of the spirit of Sycomore. The vetiver note itself is impeccable and the citrus opening is somehow so much more vibrant, unique, and downright exciting, especially compared to some of the vetiver-citrus staples that I've grown bored of (i.e. Grey Vetiver). I cannot emphasize how fantastic the rose note supports this composition. Don't get me wrong, this is by no means a rose scent AT ALL, and people not familiar with vetiver scents may not pick the rose up at all; after all, the vetiver packs a punch. Not as good as Sycomore, but I'd have no hesitation saying this is my second favorite vetiver scent. Easily a love for me.

I love the Diptyque philosophy of taking one note and blending it with an olfactory curve ball -- something quite unexpected that takes the original note in another direction. While some of Diptyque's fragrances are quite literal and linear -- Eau de Lierre, for example -- some of their fragrances like Vetyverio EDP embody the philosophy of the olfactory surprise. In Vetyverio EDP, the vetiver is balanced and rounded out by the rose note. The vetiver is softened, made more gender neutral. The resulting fragrance comes out familiar but new, bold but sweet, fresh but also dark. It is quite long lasting and has moderate projection. I think it is more appropriate for cooler weather. I like how the fragrance evolves throughout the day. I wouldn't describe it as a citrus fragrance though. It is more woodsy and aromatic, with a very beautiful and balanced hint of rose.

Shares some similarity with Encre Noire, but has a very subtle sweet element that differentiates it from straight vetiver. It must come from the grapefruit that pervades the opening. This fragrance is very nostalgic for me - conjuring up memories of my time in Florida, smelling just like the gulf coast region after a summer storm. The scent profile gives me a sense of spanish moss and southern flora drenched in rain. I've tried both the EDP and EDT versions and the Eau de Parfum has more of everything, citrus included. The EDT feels thinner but still retains the strength of projection and sillage present in both versions. It's a great take on vetiver and while it may not be a crowd pleaser, it has plenty of intrigue and appeal for trained and casual noses alike. One of the more interesting offerings in the Diptyque catalog for sure!

Smelled this for the first times at Neiman Marcus this past Saturday. Sprayed some on my hand and really liked it. I wasn't consciously measuring the longevity but I could smell it for a few hours. I see one of the cons on here is that some people find this synthetic. Im willing to admit my olfactory senses might not be the most refined but I've smelled fragrances far more fitting of that description. This one didn't come across that way to me. The fragrance isn't complex but it's well blended imo. Its a green, herbal, fresh, slightly rosey, earthy vetiver. I may order a sample to spend more time with it. I really enjoyed the smell.

This is a really nice Vetiver. It kinda falls in line with the the rest of the houses ethos offering classic and stylish fragrances with a modern twist. This is so vibrant and snappy green. You have a high dose of grapefruit that lasts majority of the fragrance that perfectly melds with rose alongside very green grassy Vetiver. I think because of how clean it wears it’s almost perfectly versatile while still being somewhat unique. Performance is great as well! I can’t help but feel that’s this is definitely underrated

questo è il primo profumo che acquisto da questa casa e mi piace. vetyverio lo trovo un profumo che puo essere indossato tutto l'anno leggermente piu mascolino che unisex con materie prime ottime. in questo profumo c'è una nota predominate ed è quella del pompelmo. il pompelmo non svanisce mai ed è supportato sopratutto nella sua parte amara dal vetiver presente si ma non centrale. da consigliare a tutti coloro che adoro gli agrumi specialmente per la sua durata incredibile.

As all the other Diptyque perfumes, this is not an exception, it is a very well-made, natural smelling perfume. I am not much into vetiver, but sometimes this note tends to smell very dry. Not in Vetyverio, it has some support from grapefruit, rose and patchouli, especially grapefruit, so it smells atmospheric, pleasant, relaxing, aromatic and softly piquant. Yes, I find this very relaxing, I can imagine someone wearing this during their vacation somewhere to Bali. +

I got the sample for a while and did not try it until today. Usually, I don't like vetiver scents but this one is an exception. It is not a strong one and it does not smell earthy nor woody. It starts with the bright grapefruit with a hint of mandarin, which together blend well with the vetiver, creating a light, lively and vivid scent. It totally reverses my impression of vetiver scents.

I loved this when I first got it a couple of years ago and wore it every day. Now I find it way too sharp and almost suffocating. The vetiver notes are buried under overpowering stinging citrus that only settles with a good amount of time. I did get several nice compliments from strangers while wearing it though so I imagine the way it projects is quite different from what I experience.

Opening is mostly a subtle grapefruit with a bit of rose Dry down is strong Vetiver with a bit of patchouli. Definitely a fall/spring scent, unique but not mind blowing as it comes off as very one dimensional to me with the Vetiver being the main/only note from this fragrance, especially since the opening disappears within 20 mins. This one is not for me 4.5/10

Love the drydown which is such comforting woody vetiver with a hint of rose (and ambroxan?), but on me the first 6 hours the grapefruit ruins it - too sharp and soapy. I'll stick with other woody vetivers such as Sycomore and Chantecaille which bypass the grapefruit stage.

It is very nice- classy and smooth. I prefer my vetivers a little more robustly earthy, or just a little less polite somehow. Rose is always hit or miss for me, and in this blend it's a miss for my taste. Selling my gently used bottle. See profile for details

My friend bought this for me 3 years ago I believe... Smells like grapefruit and vetiver... It'll make you smell clean... It's good but very very vetivery ..... vetiverio... Dyptiques a cool brand... one of the big labels I truly respect.

To me it was very cypress-y, immediately reminded me of Encre Noire, but more watery/stemmy; then a sweet floracy emerges (didn't register as "rose" until I saw it), which finally sets it apart, but still not as good as Sycomore.

Pretty straightforward vetiver with a distinct grapefruit rind which is a little bit spicy and bitter. Opens very green but moves quickly to the grassy vetiver and grapefruit. Office safe, good for warm weather.

Very nice and soft Leans more feminine than most vetiver scents

I tried the EDP and the EDT at the same time so doing a comparison review at the same time as just reviewing them. I generally like lemongrass, and vetiver is in the same family so I always try any scents with either. I prefer more woody or earthy scents to wear, and like most other scents on other people, in candles, diffused, etc. Like all Diptyque scents, the EDT came first in 2010 with the EDP in 2017. Both EDT and EDP - have a strong grapefruit open (which I don't love) but it does die down pretty quickly - have vetiver (obviously) so if you don't like vetiver then stay away - note vetiver is a grass root so it will smell earthy - Diptyque website says "The essence of vetiver from Haiti used in the Vetyverio Eau de Parfum has ESR certification (fairtrade, sustainable and responsible). It is sourced from the villages of Massey, Faucault and Bazelais in Haiti." I wasn't able to find any information about vetiver having a sustainability issue (like palo santo does) so I'm assuming it's more for the fairtrade element, which is always great! - I found both to be pretty light and unlikely to be overwhelming EDT - has more citrus notes (lemon and bergamont), more flowers (geranium and ylang-ylang), spices (nutmeg, clove, and carrot seeds), and musk and cedar instead of patchouli. This really affects how different they feel. - the opening is much less punchy as the grapefruit is rounded out by the bergamont - the flowers and spices makes me feel more like I'm in a cute tiny cottage in the countryside on a warm sunny day, lots of beautiful flowers blooming in flower beds and hanging planters, some plants just sown in the freshly turned soil which some rabbits are investigating, and something is baking in the oven - or like going to a really cute but expensive (because it's hand-made-with-love and they use high quality ingredients) kind of cafe (more homey, not stuffy and 'exclusive') with the same sort of vibes and they offer cakes and cookies with edible flowers and petals arranged on top - reminds me more of fall/autumn (maybe because I strongly associate nutmeg and clove with autumn and Christmas times) or the first few warm days but in very early spring - so sunny but you're wearing long sleeves. I think it could get a little overwhelming if it was really warm if you're not careful (like sitting by a fireplace at night in winter). - I think it would make a great candle as I do love the image (it super clear in my mind) but I personally don't want to smell like this. - if I had to put it on the fem/masc scale, it's definitely more feminine-leaning EDP - as this does not have the flowers and spices that are in the EDT, its much more fresh - like being in the woods or a meadow in spring (but before it flowers), just after a little rain and the soil has been dug up by worms and squirrels - the vetiver take more of centre stage as well - I think most people don't like this smell (or the woodsy scents) which is why they prefer the EDT instead - it's more of a bright and sunshine green (compared to the EDP's mix of leaf green, light pink, light blue/purple, a hint of white, and a bit of yellow) - it would be great in spring or early to mid summer, and definitely on warm and maybe even hot days (I haven't tested it out yet) - feels very non-binary - not particularly feminine or masculine but a different thing (in a good way)

Wearing it from time to time since last winter and still can’t break through to the core of it, it is such a powerful perfume. I mean, I still don’t know what’s it about besides the fact that it overwhelms my attention and my nose to the point that to wear it at all I have to spray it only once and wait out the initial blast of the aroma that blinds my nose completely. (Once, I sprayed three times and had to take another shower and still could smell it on my skin and in my hair the next day, so be careful if you like to spray your hair too). So it’s entirely possible I don’t get the nature of Vetyverio. And yet I am always curious about it. Plus, this is my only experience with vetiver, so. I take my time, no rush to know them all just yet (although lately I am more and more curious about Terre d’H.). (I hope I have time, being middle aged;-) Anyway, I cannot distinguish single notes from this radiating power, but after some time and if it doesn’t give me a headache (please be careful with this, start with one spray) I’m getting a rich earthy-incensy, very aromatic scent of a sappy tree with some resinous sweetness to it. Sometimes I can smell some fresh, maybe green, note from it too. But, all in all, Vetyverio is too strong and too long lasting for me to wear it more often and, consequently, to get to know it better. Still, I am not giving up on it yet, unlike on Cabochard (another powerful, in an interesting way, perfume) which I finally did resign from wearing after many tests. The next day. After a shower I smelled it yet again in my hair (the rosy aftersmell) and decided to wear it today too. I am in awe how rich this scent is, and therefore how very much not allowing me to forget about its complexity. Today - I like myself being on the move, inquisitive and inspired. But this also mean that this is not a fragrance to be around when you want to forget about the world or “nap with a book”. Thinking of buying EDT too, to see if and how they are different or similar. And now... I’m thinking also that I love my diptyques because they are not just telling stories. They are taking me somewhere else. This is what I am looking for in a perfume: a journey. Midnight. Ah, so this is what stays with me! The rose! I must say that having also L’OmbreDL and not enjoying it at all, Vetyverio does it for me better. The rose here is close to the skin and, what’s more important, it sometimes hides from me. I get similar impression from smelling real roses: the more I want to inhale the flower to really get the scent into my lungs “for later”, the more my nose gets blind (or the rose loses its scent?). This flower doesn’t want to be captured and imprisoned. You need to just let it do its magic the way it wants. Just like de Saint-Exupéry has taught us.

Vetyverio is, true to it's name, vetiver in all its very untamed, rooty glory—sharp, fibrous, an earthy green streaked with a touch of smoke, as if the roots were pulled straight from the soil and left to dry under a relentless sun. This is not the smooth, polite undertone of some compositions; it’s punchy, bracing, full of texture, dominant. But Diptyque, ever the aesthete, doesn’t let it run wild. There’s rose which appears less as a lush bloom, but a quiet, invisible softening agent, rounding off the jagged edges without ever announcing itself. And rather prominently, the grapefruit flits in and out, most present in the start but always lingering here and there. Not the juicy, sparkling kind, but the pith. Slightly bitter, waxy rind, rubbed between fingers, leaving behind not a fruity touch but simply a dried tangy imprint. It however intensifies the aspect of vetiver which I have an uneasy relationship with—that acrid zest. I admire the note, I respect it, but do I like it? That’s the dilemma. On certain days, I revel in Vetyverio's sharpness, but other days it grates, a bit too insistent and rooted. Depending on the day, I either nod in appreciation or take a cautious step back.

I haven't explored enough vetiver-type scents to say for sure, but to my vetiver-naive nose: At first spray (and on the blotter), the opening notes are a very buttery, sesame-like wood. (I suppose this is some type of vetiver I've not smelled before?) I thought - yum, I'm going to love this! On paper, this buttery sesame-ness is very interesting. On my skin, this rapidly turns into a VERY bitter, "herbal" oil type of scent. I don't get citrus or rose. It's just VERY strong, and somehow both buttery and bitter vetiver. It's not sour or sharp, but it's somehow much round and bitter. What? What is this? I'm so confused, lol. It's very, very strong. If it's your type of scent, it has amazing projection and longevity off my skin. It's too bitter for me though. Personally, I don't think it's "masculine" inherently. It's unisex to my nose, but it's quite polarising. Not blind buy safe.

While I understand that this is supposed to be a vetiver-forward fragrance, I think they went a little too overboard with vetiver especially in the EDP version. And to my nose, vetiver as a predominant note can easily overshadow other nuances in a blend which is what I experience here with Vetyverio. Unlike its EDT counterpart, the EDP version opens with quite aggressive nutty earthy Javanese vetiver, which continues to stay all the way till the dry down where you start noticing a greener note of perhaps Haitian vetiver. This part would remind many of the same vetiver in Sycomore and Encre Noir. Again, as the vetiver is a little overdosed and persistent, it’s hard for other notes to fully express, therefore the fragrance appears to be quite linear.

I've never smelled vetiver from Haiti in its purest form, so I'm having a hard time picturing the note independently. All I know is that to me, this scent doesn't smell like vetiver (at least not the kind I'm used to). I mostly get a sort of sweet tangerine, with some hints of rose and patchouli, and that's from the first sprays until several hours later. Aside from the more acidic, citrusy first notes, it's a scent that I think is very linear. It's not necessarily unpleasant, but don't get deceived. And all those people who are comparing it to Encre Noire, who are talking about a deep, earthy vetiver: I don't think we smelled the same perfume. It is a mystery. If others could shed some light on this for me, some clarification would be welcome.

I enjoy Vetiver fragrances. Vetyvero EDP instantly reminds me of Tom Ford's Vetiver, but with Citruses toned down and the Woody Vetiver ramped up two notches. There is a Citrus accord to it, but at it's heart It's very Earthy, Damp, and slightly Green - definitely more of a niche Vetiver presentation than designer. The Dampness and Citruses fade fast, leaving only a gentle dry Earthy Vetiver scent that barely leaves a trail. Vetiver is stronger than TF or Mancera, closer to Guerlain perhaps, but not Sultan Vetiver strong. The Rose is don't get so much first, but it does get prominent at Dry down. Performance for me however is a bit disappointing - it stays projects good for an hour but fades to a skin scent fairly quickly.

Starts with very strong quality vetiver (earthy, woody, rooty). The scent smells very classic and cozy and if you have experienced purist vetiver confections before (VE, Givenchy) you know how mouthwatering a fresh raw vetiver note can be. Abstract it is not at least not in its beginning however the scent unlike other renditions of this divine note seems to get more and more transparent as the time progresses becoming more affable and suave revealing notes of soft rose and patchouli. Nothing over the top, still vetiver reigns this kingdom however the surprise is there and if you are patient the drydown of this perfume will leave you with something at once classy and friendly. All good things to those who wait.

Good. Better than the EdT, which, to my nose, had very little presence. I wish it were great. I get a generic citrus opening with a warm floral note taking over quickly. I find the Vetiver is too clean. Not as pungent as I’d like. This flaw may be a feature if you don’t like earthy pungent Vetiver. Mostly, as is typical for the house on my skin, just very toned down and hard to find. Not much protection. Short to medium 4-5 hour length.

Green, damp, earthy, but also has a leathery facet. Reminded me of C from the perfumer's story by azzi. Not at all like Sycamore, nor most of the suggestions. Sad and melancholic scent. Not for me. Edit This smells great the next day when sprayed on clothes. Earthy, semi-sweet, and creamy. Unfortunately I'm not willing to get through the very dark and dreary mid that lasts for hours.

Vetiver jam. An appealing, creamy vegetal flavour that, once the short, sharp opening dissipates, reminds me a little of kaya, the pandan breakfast spread you find in Southeast Asia. This is a good thing—but (as a couple of reviewers have already noted) it also reminds me of a brand of hair gel that I wore as a teen in the nineties. And I’m far too bald to go back there...
