Anbar

The December Edition: This has a striking resemblance to their other, more popular scent, The Rising Mysore, with buttery sandalwood and prominent jasmine. This is a very amber forward fragrance and only on the dry down you will start to get a taste of some oudy notes with some animalics. Not much smoke can be detected. Overall, it's a very gentle, rounded scent.

A spicy, masculine leaning Oud and smoke scent. I pick up a leather and a tar note, and somehow this still smells classy. And I’m also wearing the Anbar December Edition. This is good, and I can imagine it being great on the right person. For cold weather only.

Mak7 is right. The oud/smoke can be picked up here on a miniscule level. I just get a tiny taste of the smoke but this is mostly an amber fragrace that doesn't cheat it's nomenclature declaration. I don't detect any fruits here but you may be lucky if you do. To me this is like a less dense iteration of grand soir (not a bad thing) as the vanilla, benzoin, and amber are the main collab players here. Perfectly unisex. This might be easier to wear than grand soir for some but both are great fragrances nonetheless. Update: This is almost a love. This is a soft to mild projecting fragrance that will last 6 to 7 hours so that's very decent longevity for me! There is another version of this (Anbar December Edition) I have not smelled that yet but I can explain the differences between the two according to my research... Anbar December Edition omits Regular sandalwood for East Indian Sandalwood Labdanum has been omitted from the original and has been substituted for jasmine sambac and Key lime There seems to be a dosage increase of the note of ylang ylang Amalgamation of spices introduced that were absent in original are Green Cardamom, Saffron, nutmeg and Pink Pepper Agarwood has been replaced by Aged Agarwood Regular Ambergris has been replaced by Green and Black Ambergris variants. It also says Shamama zak 2 on the note breakdown so maybe its the perfumers special accord or something?

Anbar is a nice perfume. Not unique as it basically smells like Emperors Court drydown once all the gardenia and spices passed. Nevertheless - a very nice fragrance to have in ones collection, especially at the pricepoint offered. This perfume sits within light sweet woods category alongside things like Bois Blond, Habit Rouge, Coromandel and Jubilation. Not as stately as the others, but one for the times when you need something warm and comforting. Main players to me would be sandalwood, amber, honey, light florals, musk. Dont look much for smoke or oud or fruits. They are probably there but at a microdose level.
