Emperor’s Court

This is my 3rd bottle from this house and more I sniff, the more I am in awe of them. Its not very easy to make a complete natural frag that too with such opulent and heavy notes. However behold Dixit and Zak have managed to attain that. Its clear from the let go, this is a very pleasing and yet complex frag. The black musk is evident from let go but yet again how they have softened the slight crude smell of the musk to come out as a silky velvety smooth note is a creative genius. As time progress you certainly get a good dose of oud and by the inoffensive nature of the oud plus that deep woody tone it makes in the heart of the frag is something that binds the musk, spices and floral vibe. Richness of saffron and little traces of an earthy smooth Indonesian patchouli does shine through after few hours of wearing the frag. Do you get polarising reviews from this frag? Well no even the most ardent oud haters in our Fragcomm have sniffed it blind and just asked this smells really polished and intricate. So can a regular person wear this? Well yes if he or she can carry it confidently. As this frag certainly creates an aura of someone matured has entered the room and a very sauve kinda feel to it. As the frag keeps changing facets you notice nuances of rose peeping and you really would enjoy the best part of the frag that's the dry down. Its pure bliss. Usage of ambergris or an alternative to that is a huge reason for that. Vanilic tones mixed with the Laos oud, that amazing creamy sandal and amber brings a very enjoyable base which somehow has faint touches of resins which just add to the magic of the frag. Well lot being said, the more I wear this frag the more I feel that this is going to mature with time and I just should let nature do it's trick and let this elixir macerate further. Does this fit the name of being called as Emperor’s court? Well certainly yes. We imagine an Indian Emperor to be sitting amidst a beautiful floral garden, barks of oud being burnt to fumigate the royal court, his court filled with exotic spices from the best places across the region and it goes without saying that logs of sandal used as the pillars for the magnificent court emitting a strong aroma which screams opulence and royalty. This certainly lives up to the story behind the frag and I feel really proud to own such a piece of art in my collection.

I think this is a wonderful fragrance. I guess I am a bit of an outlier but I get lots of rose in the opening and throughout its somewhat modest longevity. Dixit&Zak tend to put similar notes in their fragrances I have tried, but they differ enough that it is worth sampling a few. Almost all of them will take a bit of searching to obtain a sample let alone a full bottle. Are there other fragrances which throw in a baker's 2 dozen notes? Yes, quite a few. But it is just different enough for me to quite enjoy wearing this. It is a safe scent that can be worn for at least three seasons, night or day. I am, when it comes to fragrances, an easy grader, so keep this in mind. expect 3-4 hours longevity or that is I what I get.

Emperor's Court by Dixit & Zak A Royal delight. An awakening of senses In the opening, one catches a sweet note that vanishes followed by rose, again vanishes. From then on a potpourri of fabulous notes keep playing hide and seek with your olfactory senses. this game continues. Florals, Spices, Saffron and many more all the while we have, at the base a soft creamy sandalwood,Ambergris and Oud. A delightful thin layer of Musk is the the Pied Piper of the Show. This perfume is a delightful beautiful experience. An olfactory journey like flying on a magic carpet. This is what an Emperor's court aught to be like, Magical.

I find EC super nice, complex.. and actually very sexy. Love the way the patchouli, Sandal, florals, amber, musk and all the other long list of notes create a surreal experience taking me to a dreamworld. Dixit & Zak are well known for the natural ingredients and this one is very good value for money. There is nothing out there like this. Note - I am glad I picked two bottles of EC

This is the second best release from the house after rising mysore 1.Avoid the latest releases from the house since the quality has gone downwards.....

Resinous, amberous tobacco-rose and animalic oud. Nuanced as if spiced by a master chef. Interesting and particular. A daring wear.

Interesting slightly animanlic chypre. I get rose-jasmine-sweet & dark ambergris-mild Oud type of scent profile that projects well for the first hour and remains a strong skin scent for a few hours. Enjoyable but not outstanding to me. Shukran Habibi!

Forget the note-list, they all smell the same (Emperor Hind)

A very pleasant but largely redundant Floriental using mostly natural ingredients. The perfume opens with notes of rose, jasmine and bergamot. The heart is more florals (including a prominent ylang) and spices. The base is the same one used for most of their perfumes, a dense powdery woody combination of oud, sandalwood, vanilla, oakmoss, patchouli, animal musk and incense. The unisex scent has moderate to strong sillage and excellent longevity. Since most of the Dixit and Zaks are limited to only about a hundred bottles, you can pick any one of these up if you have missed out on another. There seems to be slight variations between the scents. Nice, but more of the same type of stuff. Enjoy!

I’m not really a huge fan of this one(I preferred Emperor Hind, which I didn’t love enough to track down a whole bottle) but even still the two negative reviews below me are pretty obviously the same account. Go read both their other reviews and they use all the same language to say all the same things to make it seem like their opinions are shared by more people. Pretty dishonest if you ask me. Emperors Court by @dixitzak is an incredible creamy Chypre that sits somewhere between a western Barbershop and classic Indian mulkullat. Emperor’s Court opens with an intense spiced up Jasmine accord intertwined with fennel, citrusy Rose and powdery amber laced Oud. This opening accord creates a brilliant vintage barbershop effect where gentle powder whisks in and out of resinous vanilla and animalic musk. The Oud itself creates a deep green umami nuance which lends an animalic backbone to a creamy shaving foam vibe. This very much feels like a vanilla driven fougere at times as oakmoss supports this deeply resinous bitter accord. The oud is always at the forefront of the composition although it can be deceptively hidden if you’re not listening properly. As the scent enters the heart of the wearing, gentle whisps of smoked tobacco and vanilla form the core DNA while labdanum, incense and vanilla continue to work their magic. There’s a lot to unpack here and I’m still finding something new with every wearing. This is a total departure from the last few releases and in my opinion this is one of the best releases from Dixit and Zak so far. Rising Mysore, Emperor’s Court and Ghaliya Hind are the trifecta in my mind that defines what this house is known for. Performance is uncanny. Rich animalic musks create the strongest performance we’ve seen from @dixitzak so far. I get 24 hours on the skin with strong projection off a single spray for at least 6 hours. The performance here is NO JOKE.

Emperors court is nothing magical, its quite down to earth and simple to understand. Let me break it down in basic terms. First of all - base (main thing ull smell through life of fragrance) is a more or less typical shaving foam smell for men. Smooth but herbal. On top of it, to make it more interesting - ylang and jasmine added to give it not green, but yellow tone. It is slightly sweet as well, some ambers are in the play, making it more suitable for cooler weather, as it will be too much in high heat. And finally - to my nose - a good dollop of gardenia, which is a very interesting flower, but can be difficult to incorporate in fragrance with its honeyed and flowery and maybe even rubbery smell. Here it is front and centre, fading away closer to the deep drydown. Ouds pop their head at the beginning, and in the very end, but they are not obvious. Overall - not bad, something new for sure, but very flowery. If you are into masculine aftershave like frags (Eucris is great rep for green smelling counterpart), then you will be happy. If not - you wont lose anything if youll pass on it.

Nicely blended sweet pink rose oud with no sharp edges and a lot of nuanced supporting notes. 7/10 This has been another edition of "LittleDinkums Reductive Reviews."

Tried sampling this, this is something really nice and doesn't stay rugged on your clothes like other fragrances.
