Oh My Cat

Yep, I bought this. Got this about 5 years ago. I was going through my perfume closet and pulled it out to see if our cats might be interested in it now. I sprayed a tiny bit where our big gray tabby, Sophie likes to relax...on her bed near food bowl. I just went to check her reaction and she is purring, that's not rare for her so..... I can actually smell the bergamot and musk, maybe. Definitely bergamot thought. I don't believe I've ever been able to pick that note out but this fragrance isn't complicated. It's a nice little fragrance. Simple and sweet, cute like sweet. It's actually calming. Naturally, this isn't strong nor long lasting. I'll check back with Sophie later and see if her opinion changes and keep ya'll posted.

I found out about this fragrance in some fashion magazine back in 2001. And later I found them in some discount store in the middle of nowhere. Honestly, I always wanted it because of the pendant. And I still have it. The fragrance is nothing to remember. I would not use it on my cats for sure. Though I must say that the packaging is amazing. It has not evaporated at all since 2001. I wish my other favorite and pricy perfumes were like that.

This is designed to apply directly on to your cat and comes with a little felt mitt (the back of the box calls it a "caressing cloth") to rub it on the cat's fur. You are not supposed to spray your cat with it, rather rub it on gently to their back and sides. They say that the mid note is a heart of olive leaf and claim "a feline favorite, which can only be detected by cats". My Smitty Kitty seems to really like it, and when I spray it on myself, it is kind of an average citrus cologne smell reminiscent of 4711. More interestingly, the nose on this is said to be Bernard Ellena with Maurice Roucel, and other data shows it as a release in 2001, so I am not completely sure which date is correct. One final note is that the box states "Olfactory and cutaneous safety tested under the supervision of veterinarians and dermatologists" which I think important. It's very inexpensive, and the bottle is cute with a big removable metal cat charm on the front.

I wish I'd discovered this perfume on its release n could've tested it on my cats (RIP) because of the olive note. My tabby would go silly over olive ciabatta if you gave him a piece. (Never any other food.) He would lick it then dribble n roll around like it was catnip. Plain olives didn't work tho 🫤 😹😸😺

Citrus essential oils like orange and bergamots are TOXIC for cats. Cats hate it as well. So I am very confused. Ok, lets say they did not use real stuff but instead used cynthetic. But cats hare citruses. What is the point? New commercial approach? Indeed. I personally won't apply ANYTHING on my cat.
