D&G Anthology Le Fou 21

I’m so confused as to why people either don’t like this fragrance or haven’t given it a chance. I think it’s fantastic. The opening is amazing, drying down delicately where I find that the violet lingers and lingers. I am really excited to have this just in time for the warmer months. You’d be silly to ignore this, in my opinion. Yes, I am very partial to Dolce & Gabbana fragrances and find all of them that I have exceptional in some way, this one included. Step out of your box.

Le Fou is not marketed as unisex. The box says "Pour Homme" on the front. I think Le Fou is my favorite of the Anthology series. It's undeniably masculine, yet it can be easily worn by a woman. I love the fresh, aromatic, fern and juniper combination on the top, and I get cognac very strongly well into the drydown. Notes shown above are incorrect. Should be: Bergamot, Coriander Leaf, Violet Leaf, Cognac, Juniper Berry, Cardamom, Dry Woods, Gingerbread, Tonka Bean.

This scent is very unique. I agree with another reviews, this fragrance is playing with another notes based on the weather. Very Green in the opening but after 30 minutes it changes to a sweet booziness. The bad part of this fragrance is sillage and longevity, sillage after 2h is going closer to skin and longevity is maximum 4 hours. Overspray for this one is safe

I agree with the top 3 voted notes, fern, juniper berries and cognac. It starts somewhat soapy, sweet. Then turns to a sweet woody scent in the dry down. It lasts around 6 hours, better for spring or summer evenings. I love it. Enjoy.

Green and interestingly creamy and sweet on my skin. The green nuances reminds me of pandan (screwpine) leaves rather than actual pine and the it being sweet remind me of an asian agar agar jelly.. This was a good find.

I got this today. Somehow i smell like caramel and something else. it's amazing! i really like it!

What an underrated little gem in the fougere space. Wasn't crazy about this when I first got it but this has grown on me. Green opening for first 30 min. Then drys downs to a lightly sweet aromatic scent with some very slight citrus and even fruity elements. It's kind of unique tbh. Sometimes I pick up green elements other times It's light citruses or fruits. The tonka here is quite nice giving off soft vanillic tendencies. Maybe a touch of booze. I wore this alot to work last spring so it's time to break it out again. Casual everyday wear, nothing groundbreaking but also very pleasant. Moderate performance, you can overspray and you should be fine. Although I should add full presentation on discounters goes for like $70. At that price it's little harder to justify but you can find testers with caps for $20-$25 on most discounters. At that price this it's very good. If you like aromatic fougeres this will be a nice addition to your rotation. Soild like for me

Vraiment fou! When I first tried Le Fou during cooler weather, I loved it as a rich, warm, spicy fragrance and immediately bought a full bottle. I primarily smelled cardamom and coriander, two favorites, as well as tonka bean and cognac. I did pick up some greener notes of fern, juniper, and bergamot after a bit, but they were muted. Now, trying Le Fou in the warmth of summer, I have had to pull a complete switcheroo with the note rankings. I can still detect a bit of cognac, especially as time passes, but the fragrance has transformed itself to a green aquatic for summer. I mainly get juniper and fern now, as well as bergamot and woods, and the spices are quite muted. It also smells rather salty and oceanic, bringing to mind a stroll through the New England woods on the edge of the ocean. What trickery is this, oh wise fool??? I can't wait to see what you pull next.

Received a sample from FragranceX, and I like this well. It's light and sweet enough that I got an image of a birthday cake and purple flowers. (I often get the color purple when there is cardamom and/or tonka.) The opening was phenomenal. I love bergamot, and the combination with violet was fantastic. After twenty seconds, it became mostly a skin scent, and I wished the projection was stronger. The dry down was powdery and clean, but I could detect the spicy ginger and green notes as well. This could definitely work as unisex, and I think it would be great for spring and for the daytime, especially a day outdoors. If you like sweet aromatics and are looking for something light, I think you should give this a try.

I went to the biggest outlet in my area in search of a new fragrance. I usually don't take advices from the sales people because most of the time, they don't know what they are talking about. But on this day, i was roaming around in dilemma, and the salesgirl came up to me and said would you like to try one of the Anthology. I told her that Anthology series doesnt fancy me big time and most of it doesnt last on my skin. Then she recomended me to try this one on the skin. I did. I couldnt beleive it, this had great projection and the juice was nothing like I have tested before. I bought it on the spot. It lasts a good 5 hours on my skin and it's fun to wear. I get compliments on this one.

This is an contradiction for mostly of who will try (if you can stil find it in stores) , i have days when i love it and days when i just like it . If ask why is easy , when is very hot ...like over 32°C this smell very well and good... airy mint ,fruits and the ginger olfactory note feels just right how they blend , when is under 25°C i still like it but the fruits and ginger are not anymore there well blended and projection and longevity on my skin is lower (5-7h only with a projection of an arm for about 2 h) but when is very hot is smell the best and i love it. For how much my PH helps this i give an 4/5 for longevity and sillage and an 5/5 for the smell when is very hot outside.

It's very nice, fresh and green with a nuance that my brain perceives as fruity despite the lack of fruit in the note list. In my opinion it's more complex than some of the other reviews are giving it credit for with a subtle smoky texture under the vivid top. Extremely pleasant if not world shaking. The one fault of this one is the horrible longevity on my skin. Three hours tops for me. Other than that I consider this something of a gem, sweet and rich, but fresh and never cloying. Edit: I will add that while I can't smell it on myself, I got a compliment on it six hours after applying so your milage may vary.

initial thoughts in my first use. smells like a mint candy., but i have to dig my nose close to my wrist just to detect it. i think this one has a weak projection. theres an interesting sparkling note here that im suspecting to be the cognac and it blends very well with the tonka note. although mint isnt listed., it really gives off that minty vibe all throughout. very intresting scent profile i like it., wish it projects more though.

I decide to bought this by read those note, and Yeaahhh!!!! I'm happy with it. it's CITRUS, FRESH and MOSSY except poor longevity, on me it's like 4-5 hours then it's closer to my skin.Any tricks to keep it stay longer.

A nice tonka bean/vanilla scent with a hint of ginger. If I'm in the market for a vanilla scent I'll get this instead of Le Male - the bottle is far less silly and it's slightly less expensive. My wife liked it, too.

I’m surprised patchouli isn’t listed in the notes, to me this is like a soft green scent. This smells very good, but performance is lacking. Got this for $20 USD and i like it but i wouldnt pay any more than this

Lots of citrus in the opening, however a nice green, sweet/tonka, cognac dry down. Performance is subpar in every aspect. It’s a very nice scent for the price you can find it for. 7/10

i dont understand u guys this fragrance last 12 hours on my skin . and it has one of the best smells when it dries down. day and summer fragrance only in my opinion.

I really hope the ginger and bergamot dont ruin this. The first 6 have been great scents and I want that tradition to continue. The juniper anf fern look promising.

its green and piney. gives off that walkin down in a forest on a cold morning kind of vibe. if you like how irish spring soap smells like then give this a try.

The fact that they use Tarot references for the names is a disgrace. Neither bottles nor scents have anything to do with the symbolism of the cards. Le Fou should be a number 0, not 21. They might as well just use the numbers alone. So much could have been done with that concept, but easier to hire three ex-supermodels for an ad compaign that do not represent the idea at all.

One that leaves me scratching my head. I enjoy it's presentation quite a bit but the scent itself is weird. I get the cognac and ginger which you would think sounds fun but then it has this candy sweetness which is off-putting to me. You could even say it smells like cupcakes. I don't know man, it isn't for me. But I got a tester at an affordable price. So I'm not mad mad.

It's too sweet for man. It's just for woman. The opening smells like a candy. I agree that if a man uses it, people will think he runs out his cologne and he uses his wife perfume. The dry down smells less feminine, but overall I think this juice is just suitable for woman. I don't think it is right smell for man.

I have over 5 D&G fragrance and this is the only one that disappointed me. Generic soapy smell, nothing special. As the description says, Le Fou 21 is a fragrance designed for careless and spontaneous individuals.

This is a really strange fragrance to me... I don’t know how to appreciate it and it would make my list of Top 5 worst designer fragrances together with CH Bad Boy and Gucci Made to Measure!

Le Fou is not Le Fou at all, although the opening is bit jokey. However, it is worth to wait few minutes, during which, one may perceive some feminine accords, like a lipstick note. Maybe that is why some users refer to it as unisex or feminine. Regardless of that, it loses its potency an hour later, so there is no point talking about gender. Definitely can be worn by women without anyone suspecting that it could be men’s perfume, but if a man will wear it, someone might think that this morning this man run out of his own perfume and used his wife’s, who had a perfume with some masculine undertones. That is what this perfume has, masculine undertones. There was a bell ringing in my head when I sniffed it after a half an hour, I was trying to remember where I encounter similar accord; it was same cognac accord I found in Black Walnut by Banana Republic. I think this is the most interesting and nicest aspect of this perfume. It needs to be sprayed from a distance, not close to the body; too much perfume concentration in one spot will drown the cognac note in powder smell, which is another feminine feature in this one. It is a likeable perfume, and it is up to each person to decide whether it is good for him or her. I will pass on this one for now.

this has made me consider other fragrances from this line... which is illogical when you stop to think, as there is no reason why any of the others should be similar to this one... D&G Anothology LE FOU 21 is a decidedly masculine fragrance. Very aromatic and woody, with a familiar complement of green and brown elements found in many masculine colognes. When I first applied this composition, it reminded me a bit of Bond no 9 SILVER FACTORY, and I really thought that incense numbered among the notes, but maybe it was an olfactory illusion? In any case, I am thoroughly convinced that the notes list is incomplete, for the cedarish iso-E-Super quality is undeniable here. I definitely would not say that this composition is "fou" or "crazy" in any way. To my nose, this is a very typical masculine cologne, albeit with pretty big sillage and above average longevity. I surmise that LE FOU would probably too masculine for many women, whom I advise to try before they buy.

That was a surprising discovery for me that Le Fou is a fresher and younger version of... The one for men! It opens with a splash of bracing ginger, of course citrusy, but not so lemony as for example Dior Homme Sport. After that the scent becomes softer and sweeter and begins to remind of a fruity chewing gum. This accord is extremely similar to a base of Dolce & Gabbana The one for men (minus vanilla I should say). Le Fou is not so rich and woody as The One, but for me it is more comfortable (The One is apparently too sweet). The sillage is average (the fragrance stays close to skin though), the longevity is the same or even below average.

Dear all, I am Strong believer that the commercial of the Cologne, says it all (at least most of the time), the D&G Anthology Le Fou 21 Dolce&Gabbana for men and rest of the collection shows people in their robes fresh out of the show. which means the collection is for after shower spray. so don't expect it to be long lasting or even project strong. still I do have three of the males collection, 21, 11, 1, I have not open 1 yet but I have smelled it from a tester when I have bought it. they are unique and different. I couldn't resist the purchase since the price $26 for 100 ML.

I'm currently wearing this in 70° weather and the dry down is amazing! I layered it with a few sprays of Girls Can Say Anything by Zadig and Voltaire. They work so well together, but even on it's own Le Fou is still great. In the beginning it has the typical "manly cologne" type scent that sorta reminds me of Irish Spring. Wait it out because after 30 minutes that starts to fade into an amber fragrance. I suppose the cognac and Tonka bean is what does that? At this point it's unisex and the dry down is so delicious. Burberry Brit EDT is another layering combo that I've tried.

Every now and then I come across a hidden gem that does not get the deserved hype and this fragrance is an example of that. A very gentle linear fragrance with beautiful well balanced notes of barriers, fern and a gentle touch of bergamot, ginger and tonka throughout. It is such a refreshing and refined scent that you may want to wear it all day without ever getting olfactory fatigue. An safe all weather all occasion fragrance well worth a try. Only downside is that you need to refresh it every 2 to 3 hrs as it's very mellow silage and quickly becomes a skin scent.

Purchased based on reviews here. Not sure if I’ve got a dud but, barely lasted 5 minutes on me, sooooo disappointed because the smell is really nice and quite different. It opens pretty strong too, akin to the taste of filling your mouth full of different jelly beans. So yes, quite feminine, sweet.... What surprises me more is...I got a tester bottle from an online store with a great rep. 20 minutes after application, neither myself nor my colleagues could detect ANY smell. Such a shame! 10/10 for the adventurous fragrance, zero for longevity and silage.

This one has a name to live up to:Le Fou, that's french for crazy. And it is a crazy fragrance. First spray on my wrist and I got citrus and green notes, Then, the composition evolves into fresh spicy accords with a creamy hint in the background, that's when it becomes kind of feminine for some people, and that's what makes this fragrance crazy. From something to herbally fresh, it turns into a warm cozing formula, and even when I'm more into green citrus fresh perfumes, this frag is one I like. And I got it with a discount!

OMG this is so damn different and wonderful! You must wear this stuff in the proper temps to get the best effect and I used to love spraying this while outside on a nice hot day. This thing needs heat to fully develop and it lasts a long damn time. You get great silage and people find it really pleasant. I wouldn't daily this because you have to wear this with certain colors... I used to love wearing this when I wore pastel colors... it matches perfectly

This scent profile is so unique! It changes based on the weather and you most definitely want as much heat as possible for this! I only wore this scent profile with my sea green polos because it matches so perfectly! I used to apply this outside in the sun & this is super green, slightly sweet & fresh! It's soft & subtle YET it's there and it's just so beautiful! This scent always caused a reaction when applied around others-

I am a girl, but I tried this on myself and loved it. It was so fresh, and a bit masculine. I'm thinking of buying it for myself...too bad I'm single, because if I had a boyfriend, I'd buy it for him, too!! Also, the bottle says Pour Homme on the front. It is not meant as a unisex fragrance.

Have decided to try the Anthology series given that you can get some bottled cheap online. I like this as the Fern scent makes it unique, it develops quickly. It projects only for about an hour and last as a skin for 6-8 hours so this I find actually perfect as a date night close up scent.

Been wearing this in the Texas heat. This is only to be worn in high heat situations because it stays kinda sour but heat makes it develop properly into something sweet, green & complex. I sprayed this on while outside and this random lady just opened her arms for me to spray her😄

Picked this up at Nordstrom Rack the other night. Unbelievable fragrance. It just works well with my skin from the beginning to the dry down. Can be worn year round IMO. Highly recommend this juice for your collection, you won't regret it.

Tried it on at Ulta today. I like it. If it's the ginger I'm smelling, it agrees with me. One Hour Later: OK - I still like it, but my eyes don't. Irritating me... on to the next.

IDK why D&G didn't just put a "0" on the bottle, I think it would have been interesting && correct, is zero not a number?
