Dolce&Gabbana Perfume for Babies

This parfum is to be worn by adults handling babies, more so than spraying it on babies. I think this is for us parfum lovers who do not want to offend the little ones, but still want to smell nice. Everytime my niece comes over, (she's 5 months old) I have to take a shower to rid myself of the (to their new little noses) strong parfums.

Who would come up with such an idiotic idea to make perfumes for a baby? And even worst, what stupid person would perfume their young innocent baby?

Okay, let's revisit the PR here: this was INSPIRED by the scent of babies, their breath,, joy at seeing their first smile, etc... Most commercial products made for babies these days (unless you use Burt's Bees or Nature's Gate) also have chemicals, phthalates and God knows what else (if you're not a chemist, that is). Even "calming" scents like lavender & chamomile in mass market baby wash and lotion usually contain LAVANDIN, not real lavender. Yes, kids SHOULD play in the mud and smell like fun and sun from outside and themselves. It sounds rather harsh-but the sooner kids get immunities and build up resistance to chemicals-the better off they will be. (EX: exposing kids to the one kid with chicken pox, so they all get them). My ex-girlfriend went "all natural" when she was pregnant (even boiling organic dates for their sugar to sweeten oatmeal and her tea) and her son was born with a TON of food-based and reactive skin allergies...'nuff said?!! IF you are looking for something gentle enough to scent linens and clothing or whatever: go for House of Matriarch's "Baby Roses", "Baby Musk" or "Happy Baby". These were made by Christi Meshell and are all ultra-natural, containing nothing synthetic, harmful or harsh. Inspired by having her own kids, it is a way the perfumer shared that joy she experienced from her own children with the rest of the world! I concur that it is indeed silly to cover the sweet scent o' innocent babe with a (more than likely) synthetic perfume; however, I believe that this is more for the adults who adore that scent, and perhaps it was meant to be a calm reassuring scent WE wear that THEY can equivocate with safety, security and love. Alcohol-free is good. I would love to see this somewhere and take a look at the actual ingredients. It may just be a thin core of natural essences in a water or glycerin base (it LOOKS like a "dab" perfume-not a spray). It could also be a bunch of chemicals isolated in a lab from natural products OR it could be 99.97% synthetic. One never knows til one sees the BOX, does one? I adored both "Tartine et Chocolat Ptisenbon" (baby blue bottle) by GIVENCHY and Petit et Mamans by BVLGARI, and can say that I have never applied these to a baby's skin, but my great nieces (4, 6 & 9) all love to wear it after their bubble baths when they stay with me-but the ingredients (not the NOTES) are what would be most important to know before scenting said bundle of joy. My T&CP is vintage (around 20 years old) and the fact there was no alcohol kept my bottle from turning and going off. (I received it in a swap, unopened, from someone who had it since it was released) Before you all go getting up in arms and insulting people, you would do well to check the labels of your own bath and baby products at home (and actually look up what's in them AND their sources) before throwing any stones from a glass house. It's all marketing anyway...but I think this sounds like it would smell soft sweet and a hint musky. *sighs* I have no kids (unless you count the furry four-footed kind) so this is just my two cents-but I was an au pair for a professor and her husband for over a year-and it shocked them when I pointed out that there were animal products and synthetics in their "natural" baby stuff. Just food for thought. I love the smell of babies (who doesn't?) and perfume. I wear WHATEVER I like(despite any lame targeted marketing!) so YES I would try this (buying and wearing it, if I like it!). Would I perfume a child with it? THAT remains to be seen. It's just perfume, people. Let's not lose sight of what is really important: Does it smell good? Do *I* like it? Not what some ad exec came up with after too many lattes. If someone came up with a perfume called "Aqua di Bambino" (marketed as the SCENT OF, and not FOR) people might feel differently and buy it by the case! I love the bottle, label and the idea. But, let's not throw the BABY out with the BATHWATER for goodness sake!!!

@balzac BLESS YOU! I have been thinking exactly that while, seemingly, everyone else is trying to wrap their heads around a perfume that is actually supposed to be sprayed on babies. My initial thought was "this must be for people whose skin is sensitive to alcohol or have other sensitivities to fragrance." I have bought my 2 year old an inexpensive body spray that is sweet and light. I only give her one spritz in her hair every once in a while because she sees my mom and myself wearing perfume and she wants to be included. Anyways, back to this fragrance: I think it's great to have an alcohol free perfume. I look forward to sampling this.

WE GET IT SOME PEOPLE DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF BABY PERFUME. This section is for reviews, not your opinion of the concept. Baby perfumes have been around forever. I personally wear them as I am a nanny and want to smell nice but not too strong. I don't care that you think the idea is stupid. I want to know what you think this smells like. Petit Guerlain has been around since 1994, this isn't remotely a new idea...

I had the chance to smell this yesterday and it's just ok. But PLEASE don't put perfume on babies or children, big brands just trying to sell more stuff, they don't care. Unless it's a drop or two of organic lavender or chamomile essential oil in their bath water to help them sleep, with their non sulphate shampoo and body wash, children also don't need harsh soaps.

Hmmm.....not sure what to think about fragrances for babies/kids. They are exposed to so many chemicals as it is so dabbing them with perfumes sounds like a good way of promoting future allergies......let them have fun playing around in mud and dirt and wait with scenting them up....:-) Matz Ridderstrom Stockholm

This is a common practice in Europe, to use a baby perfume or splash. In US we commonly use baby powder. Ask a European about baby smell they'll say orange blossom. We say Johnson's baby powder.

OOOOOh this is so sweet from D&G and nice touch of D&G , i'm from the first fathers who will buy this for my kid, and i will give it to my lovely baby birthday. i hope it's safe for babies.

I can see maybe allowing my 5-6 year old daughter wear it for special occasion but I just don't see any point in spraying/scenting a baby. That's just silly to me.
