Light Blue Escape to Panarea

This is a very light fragrance. To me its one of those perfumes that smells not like perfume but Oh I just smell this good naturally 😆 like maybe it's the body care she's wearing or something but definitely not perfume. If that makes sense idk lol. I get a smooth almost milky vanilla from this, I expected it to be more.. it's like they used the very lightest smallest drop of each note they could. I'd imagine this would be fine for warm weather. I'm happy with it. Also don't get the masculine vibe as someone below said, that had me very worried bc I prefer ultra feminine perfume. This is just a subtle scent & wear time isn't bad at all for being an edt. Hope this helped someone **Update the more I wear It the more I fall in love. It's a soft sweet with a beautiful aquatic undertone that just sings off my skin. It develops so beautifully in the dry down. I wish they'd bring this scent back.

I am in LOVE officially. I have finally found my signature fragrance! Why does it have to be a limited edition...? I can never get ANY of the "fresh" or "light" fragrances to stay on me very long (like 10 minutes or so), and a lot of things just turn... "old-lady" on me, for lack of a better description. So needless to say, when I put this on and the freshness stayed for a few hours I was floored. After a few hours it dried down to the perfect amount of tonka beany-vanilla. Usually by that time, all i'm left with is grandma and baby powder. Let me tell you, this stayed on and wore beeeaautifully!! The scent is just the right amount of sexy and fresh and I am head over heels. They hit the nail on the head with this one... I highly recommend getting your hands on it before it gets discontinued!

My absolute favorite flanker of Light Blue! This is syrupy, thick, and gourmand while still being fresh with the original DNA. It opens with the bergamot and orange blossom, a bright zingy citrus. The ambergris, white musk, and jasmine follow soon after giving it a beautiful warmth and seductiveness. The tonka bean and pear are the most prominent on my skin! The dry down is a heavy sweet vanilla with a slightly spicy pear. It last a lot longer than the other Light Blues because of that heavy base probably about 6 hrs but I still top up after 4 hrs because the phases this fragrance goes through is mesmerizing! I’ve bought a back up bottle of this because it’s GOOD GOOD!

This was a recent blind buy after hearing a YouTube fragrance reviewer talk about it. I was also in love with the photograph on the box! I REALLY like this. I can ever so faintly smell the original Light Blue DNA, but I think that is only because I know that this is a flanker. On my skin this is a warm, musky skin scent, with top notes of fruit/citrus. This smells like sweet, warm skin that has been in the sun. However, don't let the term "sweet" fool you- this is not a gourmand, or overly sweet. This is great for Spring and Summer! This lasts about 6 hours on me, and has moderate projection. I'm definitely glad that I added this to my collection!

I am having the toughest time figuring this scent out.... But nonetheless it is gorgeous.... At first spray, you immediately think, same old D&G Light Blue......Yawn..... But that soon disappears and this beautiful powdery, citrus, basking in the sun scent just envelopes your skin like the tropics. For so few notes, it certainly seems complex... It may be suitable for men as well given that slightly edgy side... This is certainly one of those scents that may develop differently on each person, but it is certainly worth testing; and if it works for you, you'll love it!!!

I really love this scent! It is sweet and light and smells like pears to me. I have gotten many compliments in the office at work with this one which tells me that it does have a little projection within the first few hours of about 4-6 sprays. I will say that it is true that this one doesn't last as long as I would like for it to but that's something that goes along with light fruity citrus scents. This one usually lasts between 2-3 hours on my skin. O! and now that I think about it the dry down almost smells like Dior addict but a lighter version.

Lovely soft fragrance that shares so many notes (to me) with Guerlain's Un Air de Samsara, especially the sparkly mint/citrus opening and the divine Play-Doh-y tonka bean on the bottom. I am interested to try all the versions of LB, and there are indeed a few to hunt down. I don't wanna pay full price though since they are not long lasting, while the original is. I guess this is part of the summer thing, so very light and gone so fast, like summer in my part of the world. Portofino and Salina, you are next!

for me, this one smells VERY different from the original and for all the good reasons. this is one of my all-time favorites, and i wish there was an alternative to this one. it smells nothing like i've had. such a unique scent in that matter. i'd say it is very versatile and complex for a summer scent, but not overwhelming and can be worn in both spring and summer. the warmth in this one makes it special for such a 'fresh' scent, i believe. wish i could get this one, or find a similar one.

I wish they would make this lovely fragrance a permanent flanker, and not just a limited edition. I love this just as much as the original, though they are different. This one really lives up to the name - it is just like the feeling of being on a greek island!! Sunny and warm, but fresh. Like the sandy beach, like flowers in the sun, like sitting at a restaurant or a cafe looking at people passing by. I have only a little left in my small bottle, but I hope I can find a new one!

I really love this fragrance. It smells so nice soft and sweet. The smells of lime rock this fragrance. Its limited edition in 2014 and a bit hard to find the big bottle right now. I just bought this today and I love this! It's not really like the Dreaming in Portofino version or even the original Light Blue so much. It does have some resemblances to the original Light Blue, but this is totally different. I am happy that I had a chance to test it first at Macy's and this will be a great fragrance for summer!

What a beautiful fragrance ... fresh, sweet and refreshing. Very unique scent, not overpowering at all...perfect for summer days. Holiday fragrance must have. Thank you Dolce and Gabbana for this wonderful fragrance.

I love this little treasure. It's warm, fresh, juicy, lightly sweet and perfect. When people go in for a hug I get, "Omg, you smell so good! What is that?" It's the perfect summer scent...and it lasts.

Love this and I don't know anybody who does not. Sweeter and a little longer lasting than the original LB. I like it in warm spring and moderate summer heat. Fantastic!

I love this for the summer, it's a shame it's discontinued. I'm still looking for something that I love that much when there's hot weather!

I'm not a fan of the original D&G Light Blue, but tried this one and really like it! It's very soft and feminine and evokes images of relaxing summer holidays in the Med (just like the picture on the box). If you're looking for a summer holiday scent that doesn't have a suntan oil vibe, I'd highly recommend you try this. I sprayed one spritz on each wrist and keep pressing my nose to my wrist, imagining a lazy holiday in the sunshine with the smell of beautiful flowers wafting in the gentle breeze. It's such a pleasant and delicate scent, but I don't think it has much projection, more of a skin-scent, on me at least. Personally, I'm not sure I'd get much use out of this perfume, as I don't think I'd feel like wearing it once the summer was over (and summer doesn't last very long where I live). However, if I happened to be going on holiday and came across this at Duty Free on the way there, I might find it hard to resist...

Let me start out by saying that now, I cannot stand Light Blue. BUT, I was intrigued to try Escape to Panarea and I am so glad I did! It's such an interesting perfume and does not smell like anything I've ever tried before, and I can't get enough of it! Escape has a bright, fruity (definitely the orange blossom), almost zesty opening, an odd middle that I cannot identify (forgive me, I'm not a perfume connoisseur, merely an ardent perfume addict!), and a creamy dry-down with white florals and a rich warmth. I love the jasmine and tonka bean paired with orange blossom and pear/ambergis! So unique and beautiful, very unexpected.

I do understand the comparison to Tattoo by Michel Germain. I get a similar citrus and caramel vibe from Panarea. However, Tattoo is much stronger on my skin, almost like the EDP version of Panarea. Hence, while I like Panarea, Tattoo is a love for me at a better price (at least, last I checked). I also find the scents brighter and juicier in Tattoo. Oops. I certainly didn't mean to turn this into a review of Tattoo. Panarea is very nice, sweet and juicy, and comes in a lovely box, albeit with a bottle of disappointing quality. I'm just suggesting to give the other guy a try if you find Panarea a bit light.

Definitely a big change from the original! I don't get much of the Light Blue DNA at all. Still, I like it! It's surprisingly warm, to the point where I almost feel like this would work in winter in its own unique way. Sweet and almost sugary, but with an unmistakably floral heart. This might be a little cloying for me when it's blazing out (to be fair, most scents are lol), but I think it will shine beautifully in spring to early summer, and may even move up to a "love" once I get to test it in better weather!

The first spray gave me sweet, luscious pear and fig. The jasmine soon followed and it's very heady. This is a sweeter, fruitier, jasmine-forward version of Light Blue. Tons of jasmine! I do detect a hint of Light Blue DNA. I was expecting more citrus but didn't get any. This is a very compelling, sexy fragrance that would be wonderful in spring and summer, and for daytime wear anytime of year. A strong like - I have a good sized decant which is enough for me. Won't be buying a full bottle.

Just got this perfume and it reminds me of a "spiced pear"candle i have but a little sweeter. This perfume is just so perfect just smelling it puts me in a good mood. At first spray the zestyness and sweetness come through quite strong from the lime and pear and the dry down is less sweeter and bit more muskier. I don't really detect the floral notes as much with it though, more of the musk and ambergris. Perfect scent for a holiday or an outing anywhere where its warm and sunny.

I'm quite okay with the original Light Blue and this one is very nice too. They don't have anything in common though. This one is very very sweet, there's some floral notes and some fruity notes. But nothing about it reminds me of sunshine, sand and sea. Tonka bean is the main note in it. It's so sweet I think it could be very nice to wear it in winter too. Luxurious and delicious. Worth a try whether you like the original or not.

I just blind bought this and it is much warmer and sweeter than I was expecting. It's very heady and took me right back to the 1980s Calvin Klein's Obsession and I would actually describe it more as an oriental spice on me - smells of a jasmine vanilla musk with almonds - more unisex than feminine. I was looking for something fresher - I like it, and will keep wearing it for now and see where it takes me.....

Opens with Light Blue's signature citrus-by-the-sea with added pear, gets sweeter and warmer as it dries down, smells like a vanillic jasmine and orange blossom. Wears really well in hot weather, it's the right amount of sweet without being overwhelming in the heat. Sits just at arms' length.

sweet,but not as sickly as La vie est belle for example :D nice,light summery scent. but also fall appropriate as someone mentioned before. i wear it when i want to stay in a good mood all day. mostly in sunny days. it lingers on my scarf whole day,but it doesn't disturb me at all

CheyWolf, the reviewer before mecouldn't have described it better. It's exactly the same for me. I much prefer it to the original which I find too lemony. This one is sweeter but still fresh enough for hot weather. Too bad it's discontinued. I will cherish my bottle.

Sweet, fruity, Limey. It doesn't smell much like the original. It's mostly candied lime and pear with a warm synthetic ambergris base. It reminds me of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche but sweeter and less citrus. Probably workplace safe. I think it's a pleasant scent.

I love this perfume! Very fruity, sweet and fresh! This one reminds me of late warm nights in the mediterranean. It ́s easy to identify the notes. The pear, bergamot, white musk and orange blossom is super clear. What a wonderful, seductive summer perfume! <3

Makes for a good summer night out fragrance. Too sweet for day time high heat. Good transitional fragrance especially for late summer into fall. Very sweet pear and Tonka bean with something faintly there that’s in OG DNA.

This one is perfectly and deliciously casual and in my view a huge improvement on Portofino. Its not Light Blue at all but both fragrances are airy enough to be related.

smells exactly like pear inc but stronger

Got this dirt cheap, for under 15 bucks, but i am not sure that I really like it. It is very fresh and summery, in fact, it could work perfectly in hot Arizona sun in June and July, but right now, it's a no go for me. It turns very masculine on my skin, in fact, my husband jokingly put it in his cabinet and said he will take it if I don't want it. I am generally not a fan of any fragrances leaning masculine, on other women nor myself, so maybe for somebody else, this would work perfectly. Also I have Light Blue Sun, and I love wearing that, but these two are nothing alike, so don't trust "This Perfume reminds me of" section in this case. Two completely different scent profiles, not sure who is voting them alike! I will revisit Panarea once we hit our usual 189-degree summer here in sunny Phoenix.

I get pear and a creamy-tonka bean that seems appropriate for all-year wear, but I imagine it's too light to actually cut through cold weather. It's light but not sparkly, which is disappointing because it isn't strong enough for cooler months, but it's not sparkling enough for warmer ones. The bergamot doesn't do its job here. Not a unique fragrance/very likable. I don't pick up on any of the original Light Blue DNA. Kind of disappointing, but I don't have much to say about this fragrance. But wait... why is this dry down growing on me though... 👀

One of the few perfumes in which I can detect every single listed note. The opening is a strong mix of sweet/sour - fruity but not 'tangy'. The jasmine is subtle and the developing base notes add a lovey depth. Over spraying will kill the journey from light to warm...go easy and enjoy the ride:) L: Moderate S: Moderate/Soft

This is so hard to describe, and also so hard to decide on. Reading the reviews they are all mixed. Some say it's sharp and synthetic, some say it's sweet and creamy, some say it's fresh lemony citrus, some say it's light and warm. Well, I'm agreeing to every single one of them. I smelled this from the bottle and it was so yummy; creamy, sweet but not sugary, smooth vanilla musk. Then, I sprayed it on my skin and it was quite the opposite; sharp, synthetic, green, citrus; I was so disappointed. In the middle came the greens and flowers and some kind of damp moldy scent I can't put my nose on. After a while, the dry down, and there it was again... the smooth, creamy, warm vanilla musk with a teeny touch of amber. I fell in love all over again. To me this perfume was all over the place, but I love the dry down so much. I'm gonna have to give this one some time and a couple more tries. update: I've decided: I DO NOT like it. This is so inconsistent. When ti's good, it's good. But when it's bad, and this happens more often, it's reaaaalllly bad. Often, in the dry down, I can sense something metallic. Longevity is good, but the thing is it gets more suffocatingly (is that a word?) warm and sweet the longer I wear it. This is a big NO for me.

I kept smelling something akin to Mugler Womanity / Kilian "Boys" / Secretions Magnifique. At first, I could not place where it was coming from. I just recognized a slightly metallic, almost intimate scent. Surely that couldn't be coming from this citrusy perfume, could it? Sadly, a look at lominsd45's review confirmed that I wasn't crazy. At least someone else out there has had the same experience with this as me. I am so glad that I got a decant of this instead of wasting $40 on a full bottle.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Escape to Panaera has the same fresh vibe as the original without the sharp lemon note. There is a soft sweetness from the pear note and as the fragrance begins to dry down you can smell the tonka bean, jasmine, and orange flower. It is a very nice subtly sweet summer fragrance with a crisp freshness to it!

It seems that if you don ́t like Light Blue, you love this and other way around. I love original LB... To me Escape to Panarea is boring, generic, synthetic and flat, flower-fruity bomb without real flowers or real fruits. Longevity is quite good though.

Strange scent, really. Hard to describe. Not sweet, not so fresh, not warm... It makes no impression on me. I can smell something, I just can't define what it is. Maybe some slight amber, mixed with note I can't describe.

Synthetic vanilla baking powder + citrus + carnation (!). Has nothing in common with the original. Similar to Dior Addict actually. Smells christmas-y.

Reminds me of Kenzo Jungle L`Elephant.

I'd like to add an ACTUAL review of this fragrance... It's got that classic citrus upfront like in the original, but it's distinctly bergamot, and almost limey, compared to the lemon of the original. In the original, the lemon is very strong and overpowering for some time. In this version, the bergamot immediately gives way to the ambergris and soft, creamy florals. I actually think the ambergris is the most dominant part of this fragrance, although the florals are present (at least more than in the original, which is very woody). The ambergris is almost sweet, which I like, and the musk is light and ethereal. It could be that hint of pear that gives a slight sweetness, but it's very subtle, if present at all. It seems like the tonka is sort of rounding out the base as well and I like that it helps tame the ambergris. In fact, I notice that the ambergris appears very early on, but the tonka starts to take it over (a little) as time goes by. Although at first sniff this perfume bears some resemblance to the original, the lack of wood and the prominence of the synthetic smelling (but not bad) ambergris leads me to believe that this is as far from the original as a flanker can get. I am not a Light Blue fan but I do actually think I like this perfume. I would prefer if the sillage and longevity were greater, but it's a nice light skin scent with just enough sweetness and animalic feel. The ambergris is a little disjointed, as it doesn't blend effortlessly into the scent, but it does add something more exciting (for me) than in the original. (Although it might be nice if there was a little wood in this to tie it to the original and I kind of miss having the cedar.) EDIT: I'm liking this more and more as I sniff, but I REALLY wish it was stronger!! I have to smash my nose into my wrist, but I keep doing it, so that must be a good sign :)

Have you ever been in Panarea? It is a tiny, teeny island belonging to the Aeolian Islands, so small that there are no roads to accommodate cars. People are ferried by hydrofoil to the other sister islands to get on their ferries back home, and to move around you rely on those oldies, the Piaggio Ape wheelers - but cabrio, of course! It is a fantastic island, tiniest among the volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily, named (of course!) after the demigod of the winds, Aeolus. I spent there the most unforgettable - for numerous, very different reasons - summer of my life, some 16 years ago now. Why I tell you about this? Well, because this fragrance to me embodies the living soul of Panarea and the reason for which it is capable to do so is that Stefano Dolce and Domenico Gabbana have a house there. Panarea is covered - the part around the marina at least - by night blooming jasmine. You can smell them from the hydrofoil in breezy days, way before you reach the "port" - a tiny concrete platform extending for few yards. The sea winds blow their scent from the shores where they sit outward, towards the infinite, crazy crystal clear blue surrounding the island. There are also thousands of indian fig plants, covering here and there, a fruit that reminds somewhat of juicy pears for scent and taste, and bright bougainvilles. It also smells of citrus, but not so strongly. This fragrance offers a window onto such magic world. I loved it, and still do. Impossible for me not to! It is heavy on tonka bean and vanilla, but you can perceive the lemon note (very, very subtle) and jasmine more prominently. It is not as fresh as the original, because it is just a take on it.

I just got this for free at an estate sale.. it was in a scent bird spritzer so i didn't know what it was. When I sprayed it on in the estate sale it was citrusy for me but i got it anyhow. Since I collect pirfumes h I know how the dry down is different on all. It was too powder zesty citrus like a dry lemon rind at 1st. definately the bergamot i thought it was burberry sheer britt inside, im more used to gourmand like vanilla chocolate praline. But now that I waited a day. & spritzed it on just now at home & read all the notes. I can smell all of them.. the pear definately rounds it out to a non sharp bitter less zesty smell. Its more soft watery chiffon pear dipped in vanilla lemon meruinge with wants of the scent flying through the air on confectioners sugar In The dry down the regular light blue compared to this one is so lame too lemony & to thing I used to think that smelled more like lemon mequine. Hell no. Why would they discontinue this one over that. Sometimes light blue alone smells like you can smell a baby's diaper after putting powder on it. No poop. This one is less overpowering & way more sexy white musk vanilla tonka gourmand on my skin. Like someone said in Below comments its like your skin just smells this good. Haha. Brittany spears naked (nude bottle) & intimate (white bottle is extremely actually close) i just sprayed all 3 on but britneys is stronger sillage. "All in all" nyggnnt . Similar to the normal light blue. But the pear & white musk tonka makes it more of a "confectioners dream". (Dumb to say but its pretty damn good. In comparison.) They have cheap versions on ebay even if they are dupes they can't be that bad considering its been discotinued.

Almost passed this by at Sephora in Disneyland as I thought it was Portofino. Glad I read more closely. I like Panarea. Now that I know the notes, I am guessing it is the ambergris that intrigues me. Many SAs have suggested Light Blue to me but have not bit the bullet yet even though I find it lovely. But that's the problem, it's just lovely and I'm looking for lovely with a bit of something. Panarea and Portofino fit the bill. It's good inoffensive fume for the office or other conservative environments. One spray on me, SIllage: a foot for an hour then a trail for second hour then skin scent for next 4hrs Longevity: about 6 to 8hrs Rating: 5/5

What a pretty surprise! Went to sample Dolce at Ulta, and liked it...but then noticed Light Blue Escape to Panarea right next to it and spritzed that on too. Its warm, powdery spiciness was so welcoming and enticing in comparison as I sniffed my two wrists. I sprayed it all over me! As the Panarea developed, it smelled slightly sweeter, with definite spiciness--in a GOOD way, like the old Shower-to-Shower powder in perfume form! Fresh, unique, feminine...sold! As I finished my errands in the next store, the cashier asked me what perfume I was wearing, "You smell so good!" I have a new favorite for summer!

There's something same yet it's very different from original. Much sweeter and 'warmer'. If original has a high pitch voice this speaks from low. Not lemony for sure, that sweet note hangs around long time after spray. I guess it's the pear and the tonka bean as noted, I can't detect much notes except for patchouli without knowing them beforehand. I think this smells longer on skin than original Light Blue. Not so much flowers but fruits. I'll be using this, this is lovely, next time I'll try the Intense version.
