Light Blue

Hello fragrance fam, on today's reformulation guide were covering Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue for Women EDT! Light Blue is known for being an amazing aquatic summer fragrance with its main notes of lemon and apple. There have been many small reformulations of Light Blue but I'll group them into three main eras to make it easier to navigate. 1. Pre-2012: Through the the first eras of Light blue, these batches I would consider more salty with a heavier emphasis on the bamboo, musk and cedar. On the stickers of these bottles they were produced by either Euroitalia in Italy, P&G in Italy or P&G in Germany, in that order. 2. 2012-2023: in these versions the scent takes more of a citric turn, with a heavier emphasis on the lemon and apple top notes. The base notes of bamboo musk and cedar are reduced. These batches were eother produced by P&G in the UK, B.P.I. in France, or Italy from the Milano address, in that order. 3.Post-2024: In these batches the formula is still produced from the Italy/Milano address. Now the bottle has a slightly different appearance with rounded edges, and the writing of "eau de toilette" removed from the front of the bottle. I’ve always loved this fragrance. It may be an older release, but to me it has never felt outdated. I had smelled it on so many persons over the years without ever owning a bottle myself. As an adult, I finally decided to buy it, and it completely lived up to my expectations. Living in a hot and humid tropical climate, I can honestly say this is one of the best summer fragrances. It’s fresh, airy, sweet, and somehow still has a delicious quality to it. It’s incredibly easy to wear, uplifting, and always earns me compliments. I truly understand why it has remained a classic for so many years. Unfortunately, I eventually decided to part with my bottle because I became more mindful of fragrance ingredients. I’m not 100% clean perfumes, but I do try to reduce my everyday exposure to ingredients that are endocrine disruptors or other potentially harmful substances. After looking more closely the formula is very bad, I personally no longer felt comfortable wearing it and chose to throw my bottle away. It honestly broke my heart because I genuinely love this scent. I really hope Dolce & Gabbana updates the formula in the future. In 2026, there are so many innovative ways to create beautiful fragrances with cleaner ingredient profiles. If that ever happens, I would buy Light Blue again without hesitation.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue is pure happiness in a bottle for me. From the very first spray, it lifts my mood instantly. The opening is bright and refreshing, with crisp lemon and juicy apple creating a clean, sparkling introduction. It’s the kind of scent that immediately puts a smile on my face. As it settles, it dries down into a soft, musky base . What makes this fragrance truly special to me, though, is the emotional connection. I used to wear it during my university years, and I can still vividly remember catching its scent on my way to class, sitting on the bus, feeling carefree and full of possibility. It’s amazing how strongly it’s tied to that time in my life. Wearing it now feels like being transported somewhere beautiful—like swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Corfu or enjoying gelato in a small seaside village along the Amalfi Coast. It has that breezy, sunlit Mediterranean feeling that never gets old. Even after all these years, and despite having many other perfumes in my collection, I’ve never grown tired of it. I save it for moments when I want to feel truly happy and lighthearted. I genuinely love this fragrance, and I honestly hope it’s never discontinued.

Light Blue is gorgeous BUT it absolutely demands patience. When I first sprayed it—both now and the very first time I tried it years ago—the opening was strikingly intense and sharp, heavy on bright citrus. It can feel almost aggressive at first, which makes it easy to dismiss too quickly. But then... time passes. About an hour later, you catch a whiff and suddenly it’s wow. The dry down transforms into this warm, citrus-fresh scent that feels subtly beachy in a polished, wealthy way—not sunscreen or casual summer, but effortless and elevated. It’s hard to describe, but once you notice it, it pulls you back in. This is why I genuinely believe people who say it smells like an appley cleaning product never let it reach its dry down. The opening and the dry down are almost two entirely different fragrances. Once it settles, it’s gorgeous, balanced, and addictive, and I find myself coming back to it again and again. If you spray this and judge it immediately, you’re missing the point. Give it time—it changes completely, and the dry down is where Light Blue truly shines

I really, honestly thought I had figured it out. I thought that Light Blue was simple and sweetly fresh: a fragrance that’s easy for clubbing college girls and preppy queens on Nantucket to throw on without a second thought. God was I wrong. I wore it, for three days straight. No body wash, no deo. I NEEDED to know the allure. Light Blue is lemonade stirred with a wooden spoon, with the sun shining onto the Mediterranean. It’s biting into a green apple after a long hike through a cedar forest. It’s an evening party in a rooftop garden, surrounded by freshly-rained-on wood patio furniture and night blooming jasmine, with limoncello in hand. Simple in accord structure, but with so much attached to it. It smells as good, if not BETTER on men. It smells good on everyone I’ve ever smelled it on. It smells good on people who don’t like woody scents. It smells good on old ladies. It smells good on college-age young men. It smells good on both me and my brother. I bet it smells good on your dog. Just give in. Light Blue will get you eventually.

I like it a lot, for me it's reads as unisex fragrance. I bought Moschino - I love love fragrance and Moschino - Funny fragrance that allegedly duper of D&G - light blue perfumes series. To my nose no, none of them compares to the original, maybe only Moschino - I Love Love only had the same DNA of D&G - Light blue (EDT) version but it's goes in a direction of orange (not lemon like D&G does) that makes I Love Love by Moschino smell more sharp, sparkling and heavy on citrusy orange note and it's more chemicaly done than the original light blue EDT, that is smoother and notes in here are beatter mixed and I appreciate the lemon note in , that makes this fragrance smells more light and summery appropriately to wear. For me original light blue EDT smells like summer vacation in Italy and it gives me flashbacks to my teenage years when I was with my childhood friends swimming in a lake on a sunny day on summer holidays.

This is “The Scent” of this Summer for me. (And Ange ou Démon le Secret edt) I have just rediscovered Light Blue and fell in love with it again. This is the best of all. I wish it lasted only a bit longer! It smells like it had the whole citron in it with the peel, then the sweetness of the apple arrives, but still stays more citrusy, and as it dries down, a beautiful creamy note starts to develop, but doesn’t take over the fragrance, it is melting together instead! So feminin, I am in love with it and wanna buy a 200 ml of it as I’m going to finishe my 25 ml very soon. (That I just bought 2-3 weeks ago, but since it arrived, I don’t really feel like spraying anything else) If you haven’t tried it yet, please give it a chance! You won’t regret it! 🩵🩵🩵

Dear Light Blue, I really tried to stay away from you. Your popularity, I thought, was just to much. And tried and tried I did. But your cedar proved to be just the right touch. I found myself compelled to spritz you on every time I was in a store where I unknowingly sought you out, needing a fix. But atlast you enslaved me into your masses. Clean Lemony green apple crispness giving way to cedars commanding entrance. I think this is a wonderful summer fragrance. It sooths away any rough edges of the day. I constantly bring my wrist to my nose for a fix. On me it hangs close to the skin after the first hour. And needs a reapply after about four. Yes, I'm an addict. Back off! I've got a bottle in my hand and am not afraid to use it!

Just received my LightBlue today, i feel so confused about majority are complaining of it's longevity and projection. It’s totally opposite for me as i spray on my jacket this morning and now it’s almost 10pm , i still can smell it linger in the air. Whats surprising me was the shirt which I wore underneath the jacket also get a bit of that smell. I own quite a few beast mode fragrances like 1million and versace eros, i can tell that Light Blue is totally not bad at all. Meanwhile i just checked my bottle design , it’s not the recent 2025 batch design ( darker blue cap with slimmer silver rim ). Will it be the 2025 formulation is weaker?

After 21 years I have just come full circle with this perfume having purchased a refillable bottle. This was a staple in my fragrance wardrobe 2005-2015 and I discovered a little amount left in an old bottle recently, had a whiff and was transported back to such good memories I had to order a new bottle. I have perfumes that are much more expensive and modern like Tom Ford Blanc Soleil. For years D&G light blue was my signature fragrance and after my 20s I felt too old for it, now in my mid 40s I feel there's a little bit of nostalgic maturity to it that I can wear it again ! It's a winner for me !!

Light Blue is one of the best examples of how beautiful simplicity can be. The opening is a stunning burst of lemon, green apple, fresh sea breeze, and airy woods — clean, refreshing, effortless, and perfect for warm weather. The cedar in the drydown is especially beautiful, adding a subtle woody freshness that keeps the fragrance feeling completely unisex. Unfortunately, performance is the only real downside. On my skin, it becomes a skin scent very quickly, which is frustrating because the scent itself is so enjoyable. If it lasted longer, this would easily be one of my favorite fresh fragrances.

Love this scent and I can't even explain why. Yes I love citrus scents but this just is on another level. Lovely musk and amber base notes yup. Also, I used to work at a grocery store over the summer and this would be my go to to just quickly spray in the morning. One time I had this guy come up to me and be like "are you Brazilian?" and I was very confused but I said no and then he proceeded to say "Oh it's because all of the Brazilians I know wear this perfume, it's D&G light blue right?". I ended the conversation and left and I still have no idea what that was about LOL.

So fresh and light and slightly sweet from the apple. I bought the intense one mistakenly at first, and that one smells like pure rubbing alcohol - especially on the dry down. One of my coworkers asked if I had been drinking lmao. The regular one is miles better, and is so far the only perfume I've worn that has elicited a compliment from a complete stranger. I had the bottle in my purse and asked if she wanted a spritz to which she quickly asked "can I really??" And sprayed herself all over ☺️🍋🍏💙 Very, very pleasant in the high heat of SoCal (110+ F)

I will preface this by saying I know this is uber-popular. Some people complain about that. Call it basic. I. DONT. CARE. This stuff is heavenly in the way that a warm breeze rushes across your sun-kissed lips and makes you feel as if the world is spinning around you, and you are the center...and everything is quiet and the sun is not too hot and the dew on the grass is the color of gold as evening sets in. So, yeah. I love it. Mechanically speaking, this never turns sour on me, which so many fragrances do, and I am forever grateful of that.

So as men I really like it. For me this is very good replacment for DG light blue intense pour homme and most similar. IDK but I really like it. My mother have it right now and I steal it from her sometimes... Citrus are very nice and freshie. Longevity is very good. After I take shower I still smell it on my skin. Many people asked me what fragnance is this, and when I told them they were WOW. They tought that I wear fragnance for man... For me if you dont have fraigle masculinity you should try it....

Juicy apple and crisp, tangy lemon, like you're on a voyage, leisurely relaxing, with the silky and creamy softness of the cashmere and sweet underlying of the musk. This is a very well blended concoction, however I don't quite pick up on the jasmine or the bamboo, or if it's just an illusion. Some might hate it for smelling almost too close to a laundry detergent, but I macerated it (actually left it) for about 6+ years and it's creamy and so pleasant. I really do not want to throw it away...

I had this fragrance years ago (8th grade oddly enough...) and lately, i’ve been really craving it. This fragrance is very great for the summer, perfect if you want a fresh fragrance with that crisp citrus edge. The granny smith and lemon blend together sharp like sipping on sparkling water, and i think bamboo and cedar pulls that crispy bite down slowly but thoroughly, the dry down still having that apple-citrusness. Ugh, i cannot get enough. I need to have this for the summertime

É basicamente um cocktail delicioso de Cítrico e Aquático, que te dá aquela sensação gelada. Pensa em limão siciliano, brisa do mar e um toque de madeira bem leve. É a fragrância perfeita para o verãozão, dias quentes, praia, piscina e para usar no dia a dia, te deixando com aquele ar de quem está sempre de folga em Capri. A fixação e projeção são o ponto fraco. A mágica some rápido, exigindo retoques se você quiser sentir o cheiro por mais de 4 ou 5 horas.

Gotta review this gem! Sorry, it's marketed as a women's perfume but to my nose this is a masculine leaning unisex fragrance. I absolutely prefer the womens version to the por homme. This one is a little deeper and has more complexity, where as the por homme is a flat citrus bomb in my humble opinion. Don't get me wrong, they both smell great, but as a man if you want a stand out citrus fragrance go with this one over the men's version! 9/10

The safest scent to wear in my opinion. It smells clean, citrusy and fresh. I honestly don’t smell anything other than lemon and slight rose. This fragrance is basic, but you really can’t dislike it. If I were to describe what this fragrance smells like, it would be like those lemon towels you get handed at restaurants. Another example could be a freshly cleaned hotel room. Just an amazing, happy and uplifting fragrance.

I love this. It reminds me of the ocean. Without the fishy smell of course. I found it because Victoria Secret's Very Sexy Sea is one of my all time favorite perfumes but they discontinued it, and D&G's Light Blue is the closest thing ever to it. Nice soft lemony/sea scent, refreshing. Perfect for Summer but I put it on whenever because it's so nice. I don't pick up a woody scent, if it's there it's very gentle.

I really struggle with scents that aren’t rich, warm gourmands, but Light Blue was a wonderful surprise! The opening notes smell more like pear than apple to me, and the lemon is so refreshing. Admittedly I got worried during the mid notes because it started to smell a bit salty/aquatic on my skin, but by the two hour mark it smelled like powdery lemon zest. Definitely a daily fragrance for me!

How can this perfume have such a low rating is beyond me. It is an all time classic citrus perfume that is so easy to wear! It has been over 20 years and i still love it, especially now that it is so affordable, compare to how much it use to cost back in the 2000's. Even with a pretty big collection of perfumes, i always keep a bottle handy. Easy choise during the warmer months!

It's such a fun scent. I love layering her with some similar citrusy, green smells like Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea for a bit of a girlish moment or L'Occitane's Verbana shower gel for more of a sophisticated woman in STEM moment. It's a little upsetting how weak the fragrance is. It lasts maybe two or three hours before it basically disappears. Super fun and androgynous scent.

when i smell this i envision a pristine floating glass castle in the sky that was just wiped down with the most delicate lemon scented cleaner possible, the sun is hot but there's a cold refreshing sea breeze blowing through it. after about 4 hours it dries down into a soft cedar patchouli clean laundry scent. beautiful and inoffensive, gets lots of compliments

Stick with the OG Light Blue. Don’t bother with the flankers like Intense or Capri In Love. They just don’t have the same magic the original has. Light Blue is literally a sunny beach vacation in a bottle. I don’t care if everyone and their mothers are wearing it. It’s just so easy to wear, and puts a smile on everyone’s face when they’re near you.

I've just repurchased this. I don't find it too citrusey. It's a real nice fresh scent. Clean girl. Nice for everyday/work, lunch etc. Cheap & Chic I love love smells so similar to it which is what made me buy it again. I love the Cheap & Chic I just wanted more projection and longevity. Can't go wrong with this classic if you love a clean scent.

Initial spray is not the full picture. It opens with very strong citrus and that’s all I smell for the first few minutes. The longer I wear it, the better it smells. Compliments my body chemistry nicely. Aquatic, light, fresh, crisp, summer scent. 10/10. Reminds me a lot of Steamed Rainbow by DS & Durga, minus the chemically Sprite scent.

I love this fragrance! It is very fresh and light with a touch of sweetness as well. At first spray it was very lemony but it quickly dried down to a clean and crisp scent. Personally I think it leans more feminine than masculine but I think anyone could definitely wear it. The name “Light Blue” describes its essence perfectly.

This is my second review (since 2018): I understand the appeal - its like a sexy, European summer holiday in a bottle. Its sweet but not at all creamy, gourmand or overtly fruity. Its classy, clean, sexy and pleasant. The literal perfect perfume for hot and humid climates. One of my favorite bergamot scents other than My Way.

I resisted this for a while, but it's a classic for a reason. This is so good on a super hot day. Very fresh citrus that dries down kind of woody. It stays light and airy throughout wear with good sillage and longevity. Compliment getter and makes me feel so good. I loved "I Love Love" and this is the adult version.

Fresh but in a "rich way"- does not smell like soap or simple cleanness, I think amber notes enrich the freshness of lemons the most. Can wear day and night, mostly on warmer seasons. For me, the most important- I usually have strong headaches from most of the fragrances while I can wear it all day and even reapply.

Light Blue 💙 my signature fragrance years ago when it used to be a power bomb, one fantastic unique fragrance, that lasted all day long, a beautiful and hunting perfume .... compliments galore!!! Now it's just a perfumed water , with no substance, empty and so ... disappointing!!!! Sorry but they ruined it!!!

A gift for Christmas. The smell of it paired with the holiday was really jarring--this is absolutely a summer scent. I personally think it's more playful than other citrus, clean scents, since the apple pops out a little more to my nose. You can't go wrong with it. It makes me feel so clean and fresh!

I’m a gourmand/fruity girl and I have ZERO complaints about this perfume! The scent is just GORGEOUS! 🍋💐☀️Elegant, rich, so clean and fresh. This is actually my mom’s signature scent and I wear it once in a while 🥰 love it so much I wish they didn’t discontinue the love is love version 🍦

Özgehan lived across the hall from me freshman year. She was from Turkey and had the shiniest hair. She was on the soccer team and when we first kissed she tasted like Jack Daniels. Her room always smelled like jasmine and lemons; it wasn't until later that I realized it was Light Blue.

I love this fragrance, I tried it over 20 years ago and I still reach for it when I want something light and fresh. I love both the top notes - lemony, apple-y goodness - and the dry down, a soft clean-skin musk. It doesn’t last so you do need to re-apply, but it’s gorgeous.

I was given a sample of this and didn’t think I would care for it but it was love at first snuff. The citrus, the freshness, the powder— amazing. Straight to my list of favorites, and will definitely be buying a full bottle. The longevity isn’t great, though. Maybe 4 hours.

Summer refresher, a true classic. I don't know if they made a reformulation, but it is somehow more flat than before. In any case, it is simple, easy to wear, crowd pleaser, cheerful type of smell and a must have for anyone who enjoys citrus.

Lemony and aquatic - very good in warm and sunny weather. I don’t know why I am getting a Devotion hint in its dry down. Both are good, but this one is a solid since I have been using this for decades since my care-free years.

I absolutely adore this scent. It's crisp, fresh, with just a hint of wood to give it depth. It does not give me cleaner vibes in the slightest. Sillage is low but it lasts a long time, making it perfect for daily summer wear.

Lmao, remychicken. My aunt is a lesbian and this is her signature scent. The only perfume she wears, I believe. I love it, but I love her. It’s fresh, yet cozy and comforting.

I have no idea why this is marketed as a women's fragrance. The apple notes on this thing is SO GOATED and makes it an awesome unisex fragrance. Absolutely recommended.

I used this perfume for about 7 years, was my got to perfume in my 20’s, it’s the perfect fresh, clean, sweet scent. When I smell it brings me back so many memories.

a really like using this perfume as a woman... it smells like a really big glass bottle of freshly made lemonade with greenapple slices and 1-2 mint leaves with it.

You’ve just finished cutting up lemons for a lemon ricotta pasta in your house by the shore. A light photorealistic lemon scent. And I mean PHOTOREALISTIC!!

My absolute favorite scent for spring and summer. Just wish it had more silliage and longevity. But oh well, I’ll just keep reapplying. ❣️
