Masculine Re-Edition 1999

I gave this another try but not before trying the original from a friend’s bottle. Guess what, I like the 1999 version, the citrus lemon lime bergamot petitgrain opening is magical but the drydown was sort of underwhelming. It smells like something retro that was made in the 90s (it was), ozonic almost fruity “middle of the mall we hung out after school” very nostalgic cologne. Not to mention it smells like it expired 20 years ago in a chemical disaster way that totally ruined the experience. Just tried this re-edition again at Macy’s; the ability that smells have to bring back memories need to be studied. Pure nostalgia. Anyways, there it was, the same citrus, sharp, fresh petitgrain leaf but held together this time by orange blossom in the heart notes (without being feminine) and some herby accord, but much much better than the first version, in a classy Italian cologne-y way but modern, think Acqua di Parma colonias but without the vintage vibe. Idk if the first time I tried this my nose was overwhelmed or the bottle went bad bc they are usually under super bright lights at the mall, but this time it was a different experience. I got 2h of decent performance and 3 more as a musky vetiver floral but masculine skin scent. This is a very simple composition yet smells very natural and performance is good for what it is. Now I want a bottle because MASCULINE smells like happiness and good memories, but I’ll wait until it hits discounters. If D&G released this in the regular line or priced it lower than the velvet collection, it would sell like hotcakes. Edit: I know exactly what the drydown of the original MASCULINE reminds me of exactly: the drydown of L’eau d’Issey PH.

Just bought a sample. Will be purchasing full bottle. I believe Im an expert in this fragrance :) Its my signature sent. favorite of all time. Is this the exact same as the OG? not exactly. is it better than the second release. Yes. Is it better than the fakes on eBay who are selling this for the same price if not more than you can pay for it today? Yes. To really experience this fragrance. you must let it sit 10 to 15 mins after spraying. Yes at first with this formulation, comes off a little like lemon pledge. just wait. its beautiful. especially the dry down. woods citrus etc. just awesome. think of Chanel blue. but better. seriously. give it time. let it sit. Its magic

I have tried every "this smells like" suggestion for the original Masculine, and not one has come close. My partner has worn this fragrance for 25 years and he's been tirelessly searching for a suitable replacement. I was SO excited when I saw the re-release, and I'm happy to report that it smells extremely similar! It has the signature quality of Masculine that I was never able to find in other "similar" scents. It's a touch sweeter and more watery (watery like a lake, not watered down), but the essence is 100% there. Yes, the price tag is exorbitant, but better than no re-release!

Beautiful dry down very distinct classy, but will last for 5 min, so I bought this but im returning it not worth it, might get Torino 21 instead of this 💩

The price is an absolute joke. If I wanted to get ripped off I would have just bought the original from ebay, lmao. I was able to test this the other day and it doesn't even smell like the original. Another reason to ignore this cash grab release.

@eaudemale "complaining" Lol. It's not a matter of being able to afford it or not. Nobody said it should be $50 but no way is $335 justifiable for such a basic designer fragrance, especially when there are way better options at that price point.

Interesting how a fragrance that was once part of the D&G line, which was the “affordable” and young subsidiary line of Dolce & Gabbana, that as you may know was discontinued some years ago . But now this frag is relaunched under the main line, and has a price tag which doesn’t reflect this fragrance at all , it was intended for younger men ... i guess they going for the nostalgia factor, the young men of that time are now in their 40s - early 50s , and want to have a blast from the past, i guess that’s why the bottle was also been altered into a more ‘Mature’ design, to justify the exorbitant price... i was looking forward to this relaunch , but i don’t think im willing to pay almost $350 for this ...with all due respect. Maybe if they will relaunch By D&G in the beloved zebra bottle , i may be willing to pay more ... :)

Exquisite, gorgeous, classic eau de cologne. Sunshine and optimism. Pretty poor performance. Like the person two reviews down said, about 2 hours of decent projection. Reminds me of a slightly more unisex Armani Pour Homme. The price is exorbitant as others have mentioned. Perfect daytime cologne if you're filthy rich.

This is available at Macy’s. There is no reason why they should be charging so much for this. It would sell like hotcakes if it were in a more affordable price range. I did however buy a bottle haha because I loved this scent back in high school

What about Feminine? I still have a little left on my original bottle and put some on the other day wondering if it would ever be relaunched and than I see this today but don't see the female option. Please relaunch Feminine!!!

You can definitely tell that the price of the perfumes is not based on the quality of the ingredients, otherwise they wouldn't charge 325$ for the same liquid that 10-20 years ago could be found in every drug store for 40-50$ 😉

Marvelous! Very, very close to the original and much better longevity. Ordered direct from D&G and got it in two days.
