The One Gentleman

Wow, I'm surprised I haven't done a review on this ONE in all the years I've owned and loved it. So let's get started! So let's start with the notes come right out. The Pepper, Cardemom, Vanilla, and Patchouli come out and immediately, but the Lavender and Fennel are only a sniff behind. Now let's combine those notes. It creates this Vanilla, Lavender, Leathery essence that glistens in this Patchouli Woodsy forrest. You can tell the lineage to the ONE; however, this one is sweeter, lighter, and the spices are less prominent but always present. What this comes off as to me is a fresher, semi-sweet, leathery patchouli ONE. Which is strange considering there is no leather note listed, but again, just comes off that way. Given the notes you would think that this would be strictly fall, winter, but these notes are blended to the point where the heavier notes never really dominate the fragrance. Allowing the freshness and sweetness of it to pull it off in Spring. If you are looking for something heavier for colder months, this is still perfect as it has those ever-so present spices and warmth. It just doesn't have the bite that the notes in the newer ONE EDP has. Which furthers my statement about this being viable for Spring and lighter Summer days. Actually if you know anything about this line, this fragrance is lighter than the original and newer sibling ONE EDP, yet deeper than the other aforementioned. I would say it is almost equivalent in sillage and projection of the original with darker notes. While adding some brightness along in there. If you are looking for something for the office, movie, date, or a dinner for fall this is a winner. If you are going somewhere in the winter yet will inside and close to others, again this would be a great fragrance. You'll sit inside with your loved one(s) and just bask in the fresh spiciness in all its glory. However, if you'll be outside during the cold, it won't be as strong as the ONE EDP, but it will project enough to get noticed. The notes and aroma sort of fits the colder months. Which leads me to say it is a perfect signature scent. Just be easy with the trigger. It is strong for what it is. The longevity is very good, 8+ hours and it has a medium radius from a projection perspective. It won't fill a room, but in a small space/living room, this will do just right for about 4 hours. Of all the fragrances of the house line of the ONE's this is blended together seamlessly. Quite a few people liked it on me so that's a plus. If you want a lighter ONE or even maybe a little edge to ONE, this could be for you. I think the sweetness makes it more playful to it's counterparts. Overally I will give it 4.5 out of 5 given the other things I own or have gotten my nose on. There will always be a place in my collection for "This One".

Updated: Definitely a hit. It's like The One but reformulated as a blue fragrance. It has hints of the DNA in the base and dry down, but opens with a fresh peppery scent that lasts for a good few hours. It's a versatile fragrance best suited for mid temperatures (early fall or spring) during the daytime. You could wear this as a date night fragrance, but I think it's best suited for the daytime, maybe during a wedding or at the office. Because of the base notes, it can be layered later in the day with many other date night fragrances (give it a good 3-5 hours before though). The base is mostly vanilla with basically no woody notes, so it's versatile in what it can be layered with later on. I went from this to The One Royal Night and the transition was seamless. Because of my love for The One, I'll probably buy one of these in a larger size just to have a blue fragrance of it. This could have been The One Blue, or in a blue bottle, which would help separate it from The One Grey, but The One Gentleman is a perfect name... Just maybe a blue bottle would have been better. Hidden gem of a fragrance and very inoffensive. You can spray this to improve performance and silage, but it will still be limited. 5 sprays for office use is adequate, but you can do 6-8 and it won't be overbearing. If wearing this while out, you can go up to 10 and not worry. Everyone really liked it last night. Previous: I'll update this throughout the day, but so far I'm very impressed. I bought a travel size spray, but this might already be a possible re-buy. It has some of The One DNA, but think of it more like a way better version of The One Gold (or at least what it was going for). The watercrest and lavender give it a fresh and clean scent that lends itself well to office use and professional settings, while the vanilla and cardamon help establish it as a versatile evening scent. I like to narrow down the seasons to a max of 2, so I would say this is a perfect fall scent, and secondarily an early spring scent. It feels like a daytime scent early on with the peppery opening, but I think this works well as an evening scent. Overall I'd say the perfect setting for this is daytime during the fall. It might be a nice layering fragrance for one of The One's other lines during the evening, but I can't say yet. It depends on longevity and dry-down, and I don't like to layer within 6-7 hours unless it really tapers down or fades. I love this and it seems really well balanced and refined.

I really love this scent! I mean really. To me, on me, it glows and indirectly radiates for hours and hours on end. I have got as long as 15 hours. At first, upon spraying it, I'm reminded of the smell of fresh fruity pebbles (the Flintstones cereal). To me it smells EXACTLY like that cereal upon spraying it on the backside of my hand. About 10 minutes after the initial spray the fruit pebbles scatters and in comes the mysterious beautiful sexy scent of " the one gentleman". The fruityness tones down a bit and becomes more seductive and mysterious, and when this happens I can detect the original "the one". What I get upon dry down is this: sweet,mysterious,blue vanilla,creamy mild lavender,more blue,dark blue,calming,relaxing and confident,and an omnipresent quality that delivers in surround. Absolutely a masterpiece in my opinion. When I place my hand directly to my nose a half hour into it, it "seems" to have dissapated and this is where I feel most people give it the notorious longevity or projection problems in their reviews. This fragrance is omnipresent on me and has a "surround sound" projection about it during it's life on your skin. There have been many times where I have said under my breath "I love this scent" hours after spraying it. The best way to understand it's time released quality is to sample it. I am tough on fragrances and have a love hate relationship with many, but in my opinion this one really does it for me. I am 41 years old and I feel that fragrances suit a personality rather than an age. "Having expectations about ANYTHING can and almost always leads to disappointment"....Accept what it is for what it is, and you'll enjoy whatever it is more often than not. That's what the one gentleman says to me....

It's not anything like BY, but it is very nice! Where By was nutty and had dry, sweet florals on a bed of leather and tobacco. The herbal side of By was airy and clean, but here it's warmer... This begins with a twist of pepper over fennel. The fennel jumped out at me immediately! As the spices blend with the cardamom and lavender they become sweeter and fuller. It stays warm yet emanates coolness and sophistication. The lavender is so beautiful in this one. There are whispers of the original here, but they remain discreetly in the background. The drydown is much better than I expected it to be. I figured patchouli and vanilla would be overbearing together,(like when your man goes out with his drinking buddy and the normally mild-mannered guy becomes, after 2 drinks, the instant idiot!)but they bring out the best in each other. Vanilla's sweet thickness really balances patchouli's dry, musky type of earthiness creating something sublime! Oh, if only the Anthology series was made like TOG is... Sillage: good Longevity: above average Overall: 4.25/5 This is not like what I thought it would be, but you can detect all the notes listed. It is quite genteel, but has a dark intrigue about it and is very sexy; (even on paper!) and it is much better on skin. Something in this reminds me of absinthe liquer-most likely the fennel and cardamom-and almost brings a flush to my cheeks, when I first smell it...we have a definite keeper here, as I actually like this more than The One for men-I LOVE IT!!

I am wondering if this is what Dolce & Gabbana are offering to replace the sexy masterpiece of BY for Men... The top is peppery, but not nutty. The heart is also dominated by lavender(like BYs) but this has the aromatic, sweet fennel and smooth, dry cardamom instead of BY's dry green tarragon. The base of earthy dirty patchouli and sweet, sharp vanilla is oriental while BY's was more woody, resinous with manly notes of tobacco and Leather. The tops and hearts are more similar than the drydowns; although, both bases are oriental they end in very different ways...This is sure to be stunning if it IS the heavier evening version of the super masculine and elegant THE ONE for Men. My only question to Stefan and Domenic is why not re-release the original BY for Men?! Everybody and their brother who passed on it in the 90s due to the wild flacon probably wish they had snapped it up...considering it is going for $199.00 USD and up on eBay...It was in my opinion the sexiest fragrance for men ever! When I finally procure this version of The One for Men I will, of course, judge it on its own merits. Hopefully though, it can fill some of the gaping void left by the long, lost zebra-striped cologne no one (as yet) could begin to touch...

I honestly wasn't expecting much when I received a sample of this one in a sampler set. I find that many of the clothing designer scents are more flashy, glitzy, with a heavy burst of alcohol and intended more for those who buy for the brand rather than the scent itself. That being said, I was very surprised. There was very little to no alcohol as this is a fragrant oil-based cologne which means that it smells good going on, doesn't evaporate quickly and doesn't need that horrible discordant funk that is common in cheaper alcohol-based scents. Let's be clear, so far, I love this cologne. The pepper and vanilla are very complementary on me. I don't get as much lavender as others seem to, but, that's OK with me. This is a very well balanced cologne that has enormous projection (I was in another room of the house and my wife could smell it from a completely different room, although it wasn't overpowering either close up or from a distance....just) a like a pleasant, fragrant cloud follows you around. Bravo!

There are plenty of bottles that doesn't live up to it's name. Fortunately, for The One Gentleman, the juice lives up to the name. Its a classy manly scent. Pepper and Vanilla are dominant notes through out although it dries down to more of smooth vanilla kind of feel with a little hint of pepper present. If the notes scare you, don't be alarmed, this is by no means an offensive scent. The scent glows on you for hours and hours. The longevity is great on me. I get 11 hours out of it. You might think it fade out after several hours but its there. This is a unique scent which has the effect of light glowing on you and you get whiffs of it time and time again and think, " wow ! that smells so good ". Projection isn't screaming loud but it can get you noticed and get good remarks. All in all, The One Gentleman is a great flanker and I'm really happy I purchased it. Give this one a try. This is a perfect scent for work and occasions. Classy !

یادش بخیر. سال 88 یا شاید 89، این رو در سایت عطر افشان دیدم و فکر کنم سال 90 از اهواز اینو خریدم. اون موقع ها قیمتش 180 هزارتومان بود. یه مدتی حتی کمتر هم شد و تا 150 یا 140 هزار تومان هم اومد. بوش برام یاد روزهای خوب در اهواز رو داره. توی تابستون خیلی گرم اهواز استفاده می کردم. اما فقط بار اول که استفاده کردم پخش بو انگار داشت یا خیلی حسش کردم. بارهای بعد شد حتی 50 پاف هم به خودم می زدم و با حالت 6 پاف فرقی نمی کرد. اگه همه شیشش رو هم به پیرهن خالی کنی، اصلا شامه آدم یا مخ رو اذیت و گیج نمیکنه. خاطره آور میشه برای کسی که استفاده می کنه. بویی ظریف و در عین حال مردانه داره. شیرینی تنظیم شده ملایم به همراه تلخی ملایم فلفلی خاص و تازگی متعادل یا ملایم از مرکبات مثل شکوفه مرکبات، همچنین یه حالت کاراملی یا شیری در پس زمینش حس میشه. شاید ظرافت این حالت کاراملی جوری هست که خفیف به نظر میاد. آقا اگه قیمتش مثل اون موقع ها بشه، بخدا الان سه شیشه شو سفارش می دم. صادقانه گفتم. عشقمه این ادکلن.

Interesting to note that some other fragrance reviewers commented on this and the original 'The One's' lack of longevity; really poor show considering the pricing and relative exclusivity of the brand. That said, this was a pleasant fragrance that I used to wear mainly for work. I similarly purged it from my collection during a spring clean/pruning session and I haven't missed my (still half-full) bottle since. I found this scent to be pleasant, but not strong in any direction; I didn't feel exceedingly fresh, tremendously sweet or downright sexy in it - hence its departure from my collection. Worth mentioning is the fact that you never see this on the shelves of U.K. stores anymore - says a lot about the preponderance of here-today-gone-tomorrow offerings from the mainstream frag houses.

@dolcegabbana The One Gentleman. When the flanker is as good or better than the original. This is sweet from spray one and does not give a hint of pepper at all. I immediately get the lavender & cardamom mix that dries down to a mostly patchouli vibe with a hint of vanilla base. This is one of those colognes that I carry around a travel spray with me because I love the smell so much. It doesn’t help that I’m such a @dolcegabbana simp. I love pretty much everything they throw together in a bottle. Probably more of a cold weather cologne but I live in south Florida so I don’t have that luxury. You may want to test this one out and see if its uniqueness fits your needs.

this scent is fantastic, for real gentleman. it's great from the opening to the end. this fragrance has a good longevity, the projection insted is not so good. i truly recommend it, girls will not stop to smell u, i received many compliments for this eau de toilette. questo profumo mi piace molto, è da veri gentleman. è fantastico dall'inizio fino a diverse ore successive, a testimonianza della buona longevità. purtroppo si sente solo a distanza molto ravvicinata, ma alle donne piace tantissimo, sull'autobus una mia amica non smetteva di odorarmi. ho ricevuto molti complimenti, caldamente consigliato! scent: 8,5 longevity: 7 sillage: 7 versatility: 8 vote: 8

man i wore this couple of times and i was thinking...damn thats reminding me of one of my latest purchases....i aw Jeremy mention it smells like one 24 Scenstory fragrance which i never smelled.this morning i woke up and it hit me, this stuff reminds me of l'instant de guerlain , weird huh?no coco in this....,but definitely got the patch,lavender and woody feel that i got from l'instant edt....nice nice under rated juice...its mature, its dark and its suited up gentleman scent....i like it plenty longevity:6/10 projection:5.5/10 smell:8.5/10 versatility:/10 complements:/10 overall:7/10(would get 8 if it lasted or projected longer)

This is a beautiful fragrance. The notes that stand out to me are the Lavender, Patchouli, and the Vanilla. The pepper is in there but it is very light, which explains why it is a top note. This perfume is nice because when compared to D&G The One, this is a lighter, smoother scent that, to me, paves the way FOR D&G The One. For example: during the fall, one would wear the D&G The One Gentleman. And like a gentleman, it would hold the door open for the D&G The One that one would wear in the winter at nighttime. Sortof like a trans-seasonal date between the twwo fragrances. I think it is a gorgeous idea :)

I love this 'one'. Pepper up front that hits somewhat hard, but is quickly tempered by the smooth and calming vanilla/lavender that rides this one out until the end. I can understand how some people get a vanilla ice cream vibe. This is a PERFECT after-shower scent for me. Longevity and sillage aren't beast-level, but aren't lacking either---I get a respectable 4-5 hours off my skin, although it sits fairly close. I enjoy this one in spring, but one could make a case for wearing it year-round. Incredible calming effect for me. Unfortunately this has been discontinued, so get it while you can!

I got it from a very good swap, thanks to Ryal. As I am going through a YSL La Nuit phase I like D&G The One Gentleman very much, good old cardamon+lavender duet. It seems to be very discreet indeed, what is nice for me/work etc.... Perhaps it needs a little help from a citrus?

One of my personal very favorites! You can definitely smell the combination of pepper, vanilla and lavender. Perfect fragrance for men between the age of 20-30 to wear during the fall and spring. Too bad the fragrance lacks longevity, but still I give this one a 7.5/10.

Personally I really enjoy this fragrance it smells very mature sweetlspicy and just overall good, plus I get good longevity with this way better then "The One" original haha but I don't see why everyone hates on this frag it's overall pretty dang good 8/10

Ive been wondering when theyd do another The One for men. I LOVE the original! It was my high school graduation gift so it will always be special to me. It sounds really nice!! I LOVE lavender & vanilla!! This could be very interesting!! I cant wait!!! : )

This is one of my all time favorites. Reminds me a lot of gucci envy but less boozy sweet and more spicy cardamom and lavender. If this lasted for longer for 8 hours this would be my go to, it smells so so good. Scent: 10/10 longevity 4/10 sillage 4/10

This is one from the very beginning reminded me of Gucci Envy on my skin. Unfortunately others in this community would strike my vote down every time but upon returning I see that I’m not the only one who feels the same about its similarities.

To me, The One Gentleman is the offspring of Burberry Brit [female] and Acqua di Parma Colonia. Sophisticated, classy, but warm and personable too. It's a hell of a scent on me, a woman. For me it's the quintessential autumn frag.

I made a mistake leaving a review for this one under "The One". It's been years since I smelled it, but I remember I absolutely loved it! Instantly! As a woman I'd love to smell this on a guy. And I'm not a fan of "The One".

Very nice fragrance. A really pleasant light oriental which is well blended! The vanilla and lavender with pepper is really nice. A lot like Sartoriale by Pal Zileri. This is a lovely, well produced EDT and I like it a lot!

Didn't like it the first few wears but after a while I actually love it it's spicy vanilla greatness I almost always get compliments but people are starting to price gouge these so be careful

I have a bottle from 2010 and it still gets me every time I wear it. It is a prime example of what a flanker should be, lasts all day on my skin, and is different enough to warrant buying.

Imagine The One EDT... and then your Dad wearing it. A much more mature, spicy version of The One. The original DNA is definitely there but swirled in with tons of pepper and vanilla.

I gave this new version to my husband : perfect for him. The One Gentleman is a lighter version of The One : younger, punchy, attractive and sweet. Good lasting.

This's new character, I use it every work in my office. I call "Modern Man", Vanilla is strong. If you're gentleman in millennium, you need it.

A rather boring, generic, dry, dusty, sweet, spicy oriental fragrance. Again, like "The One" is nothing special.

Lacks in uniqueness. To me it is very similar to Givenchy Organza Indecence for women. But I like it...

Reminds me of Gucci Envy to me and I love it. It does, so piss off!

This one is another masterpiece from D&G

After the original version released in 2008, it was the time for this version, from 2010, called The One Gentleman. And here is my critic: I think the original version is more classical, elegant and linked to the meaning of chivalry than this one, which could have been called The One Modern, for instance. It features a much more youthful and versatile appearance than its predecessor, although it is, in my opinion, better in all aspects. Unlike the majority, I did not expect to find anything from the original version here, different from what happens when I have access to Fraiche or Intense versions. Apart from these cases, I take a flanker as it should be treated: as a version that was released to increase a line of fragrances. And in this case, it was no different. From the original version, this fragrance only shares the notes of grapefruit (top) and cardamom (heart). I've read reports of wearers who were able to identify the DNA of the original version. To me, it didn't happen! The composition, this time, is the following: grapefruit and pepper, in the output; Lavender, cardamom and fennel, in the heart; patchouli and vanilla, in the base. As soon as it is sprayed on the skin, the pepper is quite present. Then, a gentle nuance of lavender emerges, holding hands with a unique aroma that recalls anise: is the fennel. The evolution of this version is faster than the original version, which is why vanilla is perceived more quickly. The patchouli is not bitter, but slightly chocolatey. For several times, I felt similarities with the smell of L'instant de Guerlain, when already evolved and, obviously, saved the proportions. On my skin, the fragrance of The One Gentleman projected and lasted much longer than the original version, achieving a higher position within a comparative scale. In addition, as already mentioned before, I found it more versatile, which reinforces my previous opinion on the 2008 version, which combines better with nocturne events or special occasions. The bottle kept the visual identity, now with a lid in metallic tones of gray, giving contrast to the bluish-gray color of the liquid, in addition to the neck and the inscriptions in gold. Worth knowing!

Dolce & Gabbana The One Gentleman is a fragrance that ended up in my collection simply because I had enjoyed other Dolce & Gabbana fragrances so I thought I would give it a shot.. At first I was not sure what to think about The One Gentleman, I was not quite sure if I even really liked it.. But over time as my taste for fragrances matured I began to appreciate The One Gentleman much more.. Even though the color of the juice is blue The One Gentleman is actually a warm spicy oriental! The One Gentleman opens up with a fruity grapefruit & a spicy pepper note which together almost comes off smelling a bit like bubblegum.. The grapefruit begins to fade & lavender starts to make itself known in the heart along with spicy touches of cardamom & an interesting fennel note.. As The One Gentleman starts to dry down it gets a bit sweeter due to a prominent vanilla note! The scent dries down to a vanilla & patchouli combo.. There is a lot of vanilla in this fragrance but it never comes off smelling to sweet.. The One Gentleman is very much a completely different fragrance from "The One" but I have to say they do share similar traits! Both fragrances are smooth, subtle, classy, refined & share a similar structure! The One has a bit more sex appeal whereas The One Gentleman is more serious, mature, & formal.. The One Gentleman has a strong scent but a subtle performance, & it is suited better for the colder weather.. The One Gentleman has a pretty unique scent, there aren't to many other fragrances like it although something about it slightly reminds me of the discontinued Gucci Envy.. It looks like The One Gentleman has also been discontinued to make way for "The One Eau De Parfum", & to be honest I am not surprised.. The One Gentleman may have been a bit to "different" to appeal to the average joe.. You may have to enjoy "oriental" fragrances to really enjoy this fragrance.. The One Gentleman may not be one of my favorite fragrances but I do enjoy to wear it once in awhile!

I blind-bought it, received today and will try to make this short: 1 - I seriously am concerned with Dolce & Gabbana's perfumery, they are alright, but never special - maybe because it's a design house, which I don't see as a problem (look at Comme des Garçons). I like Light Blue, for example: it doesn't irradiate, has good silage and longevity and brings that atmosphere of "ok, he's a clean nice guy" - it's 'basic'. LB is spring/summer, and The One Gentleman has the exact same quality for fall/winter context. 2 - Many reviewers put Vanilla and Pepper as the main notes, but my lay nose captures something a bit different. The creation has a very well structured pyramid, you can clearly get a burst of pepper right away, which calms down in the presence of a soothing lavender and the spicy sweetness of cardamom - this sweet then evolves to a cozy smooth vanilla, staying very close to the skin for about 6 hours in my very rejectful complex (even the most powerful fixatives struggle with me). The last hours are then vanilla and lavender. Which reminds me of another brand's celebrity... 3 - If you check the page of Pour Un Homme de Caron, you'll realize how people seem to love it, but many brave reviewers have some interesting points: they complain about the literalness of lavender. Houdini4 asks: "I don't get this in anyway. Why on earth would anyone want to smell this accurately of lavender?". Well, I personally like PUHdC because I do love the 'accurate' fresh green smell of lavender leaves it brings, more noticeable than the vanilla. In a way, they are very distinct smells, but have the (almost) same composition. Lavender in TOG is simple but very noticeable, reminds me a lot of that by L'Occitane. So, if you don't get/like PUHdC, take a look in TOG. 4 - Do not expect any "wow's" or "what is that you wearing?". I repeat: it will (and you will) feel clean! Excellent for work, school, trips etc. It's basic. And I like it!

sweet, lavender vanilla bubble gum is what this smells to me. i am testing out my uncle's THE ONE GENTLEMAN. it is nice. it's perfect for the cool weather because of its sweetness. i do not smell the transition between notes that strongly though. because once i have sprayed it. i get that sweet bubble gum smell. i'm guessing that could have been the mixture of lavender, vanilla and pepper notes dominating. smelling the sprayer it still smells like bubble gum. and i think that's the best way to describe this fragrance. "sweet, lavender, vanilla bubble gum". and the gum is the strongest to smell with this fragrance. after 3hrs.it's focusing a bit more on the vanilla and lavender but the gum still's stuck there. i do get literary a bit of a headache after inhaling it about 10 times every 15 seconds trying to study the smell. but if you don't get that, this is a good date or winter scent. or maybe just wear it every night even without a date. it really complements the cool night breeze. attitude of the fragrance is not an elegant and sophisticated gentleman though, it doesn't even show uniqueness as the name "the one" dictates. to me it shows a nice, fun loving guy, enjoying the night, chewing his gum. projection is pretty average on my skin. this could be a formal and casual scent worn at nights. longavity is about 4 to 6 hours on me. if you love bubble gum guys, this is THE ONE for you!

The One for Gentleman was something I stumbled upon and bought blindly since I loved the original The One. I learned quickly, however, that these scents are very different from one another, and that they shouldn't really even be under the same label. That being said though, The One Gentleman is a lovely scent that you won't smell very often, which makes it unique among all the designer fragrances you see. The top notes are spicy - cardamom sticks out, but you can still pick up the vanilla, so it remains a sweeter fragrance. The dry down is pleasant as it gets less spicy but remains very fresh. I think that "fresh spicy" is the perfect explanation of this fragrance. I think that it's perfect for the summertime or springtime, and I live in a very hot and humid environment. I think that wearing it in warmer seasons provides the scent with better sillage. While one can certainly wear it in cooler temperatures, I think this scent performs best in the warmth. Additionally, as the name says, it does feel a bit formal. On the weekend in jeans and a t-shirt, I often think it's a bit much. However, it's perfect for work and the office environment as it's fresh and professional (in fact, I'd say it's my signature work scent in the summer). On top of that, it's unique. Given its price-point and uniqueness, I highly recommend it.

My bottle is probably 6-7 years old and I ́m pretty sure that the juice inside has changed a bit. It was my first fragrance (just like vaibshankla's) that I did not buy from a supermarket, and it was all love back then. Only downside for me is that heavy pepper. Somehow too much pepper in fragrances always makes me feel like my blood is rushing to my ears and cheeks, but this effect only lasts minutes with this fragrance (Unlike Beckham ́s Instinct After Dark that makes me feel ill). The One Gentleman opens up with watery spices that I would describe as pepper mixed with the aquatic feel of Acqua Di Gio. Later it turns into watery cardamom that has a slight resemblance to D&G The One but with a hint of vanilla and finally it transforms into vanilla cardamom sweetness that I love. I have actually smelled this dry down few times from the sprayer of tester bottles of the original The One. Those ones were very dusty and had little under half of the juice left so were more than likely been there a while, exposed to who knows what. But the scent of One Gentleman was noticeable and I was surprised as there are nothing in common besides cardamom. A very good fall fragrance for rainy days and semi-cold weather. If I had to label this I would say this is aquatic gourmand if that even makes sense.

On first spray this is a fresh, clean, light, slightly spicy scent. It's a pretty simple scent, and the powdery sweetness of the vanilla and lavender are completed by the fresh aromatics of the pepper. This is a mature, hyper-masculine scent, but it's light and sweet enough to avoid being overbearing, and it would likely be wearable in most settings. I'm a pretty big fan of lavender scents for men, and even though I'm less of a fan of peppery scents, I could honestly see myself wearing this. I found that the scent had decent sillage, as one small spray on my wrist carried through the air pretty well. I'm not too familiar with D&G scents overall, and have not smelled most of the The One line, so I don't have much of a reference to judge this scent against other D&G offerings. I would describe this as the adult version of a cheap, blue freshie scent. It's not doing anything special but it's honestly something that could be worn in nearly any setting. I'll give it an 8/10, as I think it performs its role really well.

DG The One Gentleman was a blind buy for me today as I was searching for something different to wear on a 108 degree day (which is typical for the next two months here in Las Vegas) Thank God I work in a professional luxury retail environment and not directly impacted by the insufferable heat.. but we do tailor the scents we wear to the season at hand. The last thing I needed was yet another carbon copy Aquatic in my summer collection. What a pleasant surprise this was. I could not get past the lipstick of The One original and the longevity was unacceptible. But Gentleman throughout the next +4 hours remained (although not linear) fresh, spicy, well behaved and singularly individualistic which for me, says it all. What a wonderful intimate scent for those quiet reserved moments to be enjoyed by two. Slumber will come gently this evening after two soft sprays to the chest. Well done Dolce Gabbana!

My fourteen year old compatriot ❤️ For some reason it was never a dumb reach for me, but whenever I’m wearing it (like just now..), it just makes me so much at ease. It’s comfortable and gentle cardamom and ginger, I don’t get much vanilla out off this one. I guess one could say that having 75 ml left fourteen years after purchase, it’s a dissatisfying scent, but I’d very much disagree with that sentiment. It’s nice, but for some reason it never claimed a first place for any occasion which is why it’s discontinued I suppose. It’s a damn shame though! It’s a lovely scent that would’ve deserved to live on. Scent profile: 8/10 Longevity: certainly not beast mode, but decent enough. 6/10 Sillage: moderate, 5/10 Value for money: 7/10 Overall a decent perfume. Response to @Ahtnek L. Off course it is. It’s has been discontinued for years and thus it’s hard to come by. Simple supply/demand logic dictates that it’s gonna be pricy by now.

I don't like the original. It has some sort of sweetness I don't like to smell on men, and it goes through all its phases. Gentleman is different, the name is good, it's gentle... I'd even say it's a sort of a skin scent, has a very poor sillage, you really have to come up very close to actually smell it ... but then you could find yourself in heaven. Ok, at least lifted 30 cm over the pavement. The top and heart are barely smellable. Very soft delicate lavender with a bit of spices. When the base shows after a couple of hours, the scent melts on skin to a lovely, not-too-sweet vanilla with just the right amount of patchouli, no one stands out here. I can still smell the light mist of lavender on this stage. Big staying power, good concept - I love the colour of this liquid! Great flanker. Bravo Dolce&Gabbana!

Powdery pepper would be the best description for this fragrance. A delightful, soothing punch to the nose. The pepper slowly goes away to make room for the lavender and coriander to take over. Because the projection isn't there for long, it gets lost among the bubble gummy sweet and ambroxan bombs that overrun bars and clubs. This is a fragrance I'd wear on a dinner date. Once the pepper goes away it becomes a more soothing and comforting fragrance that you want to smell privately and close up, rather than being mass attention-seeking. Cool weather will keep the scent as it should be. Hot weather turns this into something a bit heavy and cloying. 7/10 Reason(s) it didn't score higher: Limited seasonal wearing; Projection could be stronger; Discontinued, so prices have gone up.

This is was one of my first proper fragrances (circa 2011). I wasn’t as spoilt for choice as I am now. It really made me realise how fragrances develop over time. Having so many choices now days (with increasing complexity and strength) have made me less sensitive then I previously was It is kind of sad that as we experience more less we cherish. Now to the review Peppery, cardamom lavender backed by sweet subtle vanilla. Very well behaved. Underated close encounter smell. Doesn’t have much projection but has decent silage. Can be over sprayed without worry: Smells classy. Longevity 4-5 hours. Still like it to this day but Have more expectations from frags than I used to (sadly) Blind but worthy. 6/10

It was bugging me for a long time what this reminds me of. I haven't smelled Gucci Envy and it definitely is not The One Gray(I have it) so the remind me section here was not of much help. Today it hit me - it was Nishane Ani. Don't get me wrong they are not the same, but they are related. The similarities come after the opening and sadly due to this ones performance they don't last long, but the cardamom vanilla combo to me is the same. For now it seems I have found a reason not to buy Ani, but if I keep using this one and enjoying it so much I might have to, just due to the performance. The One Gentleman is just too weak for my taste and it might turn out to be more expensive in the long run.

Another boring vanilla scent. But I like the boring vanilla scents :-) Sometimes less is more, and in this case this is working. Few minutes pepper (not my cup of tea), then half hour lavender with a bit of sweet cardamom, and the rest of the time I get only smooth vanilla, vanilla and vanilla. Got a 10ml decant. It is a nice fragrance. Definitely different enough from the original to be worthy of a flanker. Similar enough to not warrant its own line. The original The One still tops Gentleman in overall scent. Gentleman is nice, less sweet, and a little more mature than original. But the tobacco scent in this one is too pronounced for me (even though tobacco isn't listed). For me this would have to be layered with something to balance out the tobacco. That is just my opinion. Regretted not buying the 100ml when it came out at Winner's for like $$39.99. It's even milder than the original(is that possible, lol) and, not worthy(to my nose) of being a true flanker(didn't compare the notes so I might be making a fool out of myself, but from my recollection, the'One' and this weren't very similar, which is okay!) yeah, I don't like the normal 'One'...it's color lured me in, but everytime I smelled it, it was different! This is nice though, and definitely a summer scent. Good for office probably.
