The One Gold

I loved this right from the first try. it straight up smells like very sugary plum. it's very flirty. it's a bronzed doll-like, young woman that comes to my mind when I smell it. she has a mini, fitted red dress with no sleeves and tutu skirt. she is joyful, combined her dress with gold accessories, she has a slightly smokey eye, long hair with blonde highlights. she wears this when going out in that look, she's admired by many, but not to a point people see her as a threat. she's more like... joy of youth. my mother said "this is so you" when I made her try it. I was given a sample when I shopped from Sephora once, I currently have a deluxe sample I got a while ago to give it a better try so that I know if I'd get the full bottle. just got a Good Girl to make my signature scent instead, so this one didn't top her or any other I was assessing. but I actually love this too. I think it's very likeable UPDATE - 1 WHOLE YEAR LATER: this is STILL SO DAMN GOOD super playful, super flirtatious, warm skin, party girl, happy woman vibes. still love it to death my man also found it very sexy from the first sniff. def have any size of this always sitting in your corner if you're the "upbeat, loves to doll up" type ❤️

This perfume is great. I was worried it was going to have poor longevity after reading the reviews on here but it lasts! I sprayed at 10am and I’m at 10 pm i can still smell it’s pretty well. The scent is very sultry and sexy, it is quite unique. It reminds me a little of sun do gioia by Armani because it’s so warm. I can mostly smell vanilla and creamy musk upon dry down. Opening is quite fruity but I am not sure which fruit I smell it just smells very bright and invigorating for the first 2 hours and after that gets really creamy and warm. I am surprised that it’s classified as a floral because to me this is very amber vanilla oriental. I don’t smell much patchouli. I love the warmth and creaminess of it and I do get the earthy vibe but it doesn’t smell like patchouli to me. Longevity as I said before I great, about 12 hours and counting, comparable to LVEB longevity for me. Sillage is great also for first 4 hours after that it’s moderate. I think this is great for summer but I feel like in winter and fall it would do well too since it’s so warm and creamy. Very versatile.

I’ve been wearing the fragrance for well over a year now, and I am still in love with it. Reading some of these comments, I’m beginning to wonder if I understand the language of scent at all. As one who disdains patchouli I would never have imagined it was the strongest note on this pyramid. I would never have imagined it’s a gourmand either. What I can agree with, after so many days of wearing this consistently, is that it can be a little heavy for some days. I am a very light sprayer, one on my neck is enough for me for the day, but sometimes I just don’t feel like wearing something which I know is not a skin-scent. When I’m feeling icky though, I just give this a spritz and I instantly feel elegant and put together. It’s bright, poised, tasteful, and yummy while maintaining a sincere grounded-ness. Definitely worth a go.

I am so thrilled I purchased this! It is so beautiful!! It quickly rose to the top of my favorites list. I do love the original and rose The One. So far this entire line has been a success! There is a glimpse of the original dna in this but it’s even better! I can’t pick up individual notes much but the composition creates something incredibly sophisticated, elegant yet still attention grabbing! It’s also something that I feel could be worn all year!

I bought this for my partner. Had a tester of it and every time she wore it I would turn and asked which one she was wearing when she walked by. Great scent cloud, follows her everywhere for at least a few hours. Her opinion: It’s a like, not a love. She’s more a fan of the reaction it gets from me. Worth buying from fragrancebuy or fragrancenet etc, but not full retail.

I have probably been mistaken. Am I the only one who has imagined the bottle of Dior’s Sauvage taking shape under my nose? Someone I don’t see has a magic wand in his hand, and he did a magic and put a spell on me just to confuse me. I'll be more precise after waking up from hypnosis. But I love what I’m smelling and I’m not confused about that.

Ok I’ve searched and am not finding any correlation anywhere but on my skin I swear this smells very similar to YSL Libre Vanille Couture but without the lavender (which sort of turned my stomach a bit anyway) Does anyone else get the similarity between the two? Anyway, I LOVE it! It’s beautiful and strong and long lasting.

The One Gold is a spicy floral fragrance great for a windy cool day... comforting, slightly boozy, deep, cozy, romantic. I imagine spending cold November days by the fire thinking about holidays and pumpkin pie. Snuggling up with a warm drink. I find this dreamy and very special.

Beautiful, elegant and sexy. Fruity patchouly and soft, not to sweet, vanilla in the drydown.

Oh wow! The opening of this already reveals a very patchouli-dominant composition indeed. This is NOT for the patchouli-shy among us, you'll probably hate it if you don't love it as a note. It isn't rough, prickly or overly earthy, it's cleaned up. This actually smells a little middle-eastern, and nearly has a rose&oud feel...without the oud! The rest of it is in keeping with that general style, it doesn't smell like it came from a designer house. It's strange, because I don't detect much fruit at all. Nothing distinguishable. It's just vaguely sweet apart from the base vanilla (and I think the vanilla is a backstage influence helping the rest work smoothly). I don't even feel any citrus, but it isn't without a slight sweetness. The same dynamic is at play with the white florals, it all just smooths the patchouli and plays along, but they're well behind it. What's tripping me out, is that I keep smelling something along the lines of saffron. It's very, very pretty! This composition smells more bronze than gold, with maroon accents due to that saffron-ish tone. This has nice performance, decent sillage and good longevity, especially on clothing. But, since this patchouli heavy, I'd expect it to. It'a easily unisex (who cares, wear what you like anyway), maybe slightly femme, but if undersprayed I think it would find it very pleasing on male skin. In fact...go easy on this regardless, it's no slouch. Reviews are all over the place with this, but I disagree EMPHATICALLY with the "pros/cons" here, it doesn't have poor longevity&sillage at all, I find that puzzling. Maybe people are anosmic to the musk used here? This is oddly soothing, and would be most fitting for glamorous, but subdued evening with friends somewhere upscale (but whatever, I'm lounging at home). It feels like deep autumn to me, late November on the cusp of winter freezes. I really enjoy it, it's a strong "like", nearly a "love".

Such a delightful surprise! Fresh, deep, full bodied florals over a whisper of vanilla. Somewhat soapy and solidly unisex. Actually recalls Libre Intense to me. Lavender is not listed, but the same fresh, soapy, invigorating feeling is there during the opening and mid of The One Gold. I presume it is the lily of the valley accord that is contributing that soapy freshness. Actually this reminds me of Thrills gum, but in the best possible way😅 This fragrance has a depth few other modern designer florals do. It is a bit heavy. Opulent. Classy. Would suit an evening out in a glamorous black dress. Not as in your face as Libre Intense. I really find this gorgeous and rich. I got this sample alongside another fragrance purchase, and quite frankly I wasn’t eager to try it, as D & G produced two fragrances I tested recently that were abysmally bad. I had no hope for this, but wow! I am so pleasantly surprised. If I didn’t already own Libre Intense I would have ordered a full bottle right away. Much more wearable than Libre Intense. But nearly as nice. Softer around the edges, though less vanillac on the dry down. Sillage and longevity are moderate. First hour and a half sillage was strong. But I think I may have used the entire sample(opaque bottle) as I used 8 or 9 sprays in total. Not at all overwhelming on the patchouli either. Very balanced. Overall this is lovely, fresh, rich, deep floral with a hint of sweetness. Leans a tad masculine. Definitely worth trying if the cloying sweetness of most mainstream designer fragrances isn’t your cup of tea. Such a refreshing surprise from D&G!

I find The One Gold very similar to The One Essence but the fruity notes are not as sickly sweet as I found them to be in The One Essence. The plum for me is more of a stewed peach and plum than just plum. The rose is more dominant than the jasmine. All and all an easy fragrance to wear if you like fruitachouli fragrances and I do. My favorite one of the one line is The One Rose but it has been discontinued but this one, The One Gold is growing on me. I have some samples of The One Rose left but plan on using them up this summer. I also own The Only One Intense. I enjoy that for summer. The One Gold is nice. Not to light and not to heavy. My husband really likes this. I may pick up a bottle. Again to recap a much better version of The One Essence. Not as sweet and cloying. Much easier to wear. The would be a good everyday scent. Edit the more I wear this the more it reminds me of Gucci accenti. A perfume I really love. Accenti is more vintage and a bit spicer because it has cloves. But if you miss Accenti and would like a perfume like it but not as vintage The One Gold is a good one to try. I think I am going to pick this one up before they are gone. I also would upgrade this to a very strong like. I will be picking this up before they are gone. If you like ambrosial fruits with vanilla, patchouli and creamy florals get this. Also if you like Iman Love Memoir you will like this as well.

The scent has no age connotation. It is not old-fashioned, old people do not smell like this by default, body-odor wise either. I find it pejorative when used to describe a pretty scent. In the review below, it seems to have a childish aspect that I am corresponding with to understand the review. The One Gold is beautiful & big. The entire The One line is similar (The One, The One Essence, The One Collector surely). Here, the scent of a lily is dominated or replaced by plum. It's slightly smoky. Still very sweet. A sweet musky plum with vanilla and rose petals background. Hmm.. It might smell like great cheesecake or plum cake with vanilla aroma - maybe that's the grandma aspect for the few lucky ones. I had the pleasure to eat such and they were grandma-made and their scent was similar indeed :) Winter night would make is safe to wear - It's very dense and sweet. However, I tried it sping or summer and it was great. A bit like Songes and Ylang in Gold by Micallef - they are sweet and might feel more wintery, but work great summer-time. Today, The One Gold slightly makes me headachy and the similar in sweetness duo do not in such weather. Strange.

Delicious, elegant scent. I’m not a big fan of the original from 2006, but this one is so good, an updated version. Before checking out the notes, I guessed vanilla, peach, florals (jasmine especially), amber, woods, but vanilla is upfront and center...patchouli here is warm and smooth, not dark, not screechy, I barely even recognized it. The vanilla here smells deep and rounded, golden, caramel-ish almost, it’s dense without feeling heavy and it’s not screechy sweet, I’m surprised that there’s no amber in here. It does smell mature and self-assured, 30+, or atleast late 20s. As sweet and as dense as it is, it’s not cloying the way many vanilla-fruitchollis (like LVEB and etc) are, even the original The One was more cloying and syrupy compared to this. PS. I used to own a small bottle of The Body Shop’s vanilla perfume oil in my teens, 20 years ago, it was a rich and satisfying vanilla...this reminds me of that, but more grown-up, refined, and luxurious.

It's a beautiful scent similar to The One, but with its own peculiarities. I can smell plum, patchouli, pepper and herbal notes. Yes, herbal notes are not listed here, but they are obvious. Perhaps patchouli in combination with other notes is smelled like this. The One Intense Gold is a denser and thicker fragrance than the flankers and the flagship. It's a sweet and bitter scent at the same time, very pleasant. It is quite similar to The One Desire, only The One Desire has a lot of caramel, and the One Intense Gold has plums and patchouli, but there is a definite similarity. Longevity and sillage is excellent, I can smell it all day long, especally on my clothes. I like this version of my beloved The One.

I tried both original The One and The One Gold. While they are similar (warm powdery vanilla), it's easy to tell them apart. Original The One is more powdery and lineal, and has more white flowers. The One Gold is less powdery, deeper, more woody, and more sophisticated. The rose is noticeable. I feel it's mature, sensual, and unisex. If I could compare them to colors, original The One is white, and The One Gold is red. On testing paper I prefer The One Gold. But, strangely, on my skin it smells like Fashionably London from ZARA, of course, more subtle and balanced. While I like it, I'd prefer to wear original The One; there is something beautiful in its simplicity.

I can't believe that Amber is not in the note pyramid. It's a sweet gourmand ambery vanilla fragrance. Less caramel and more spices in comparison with the original only one. I do smell the plummy patch, but too a much lesser extent than other famous fruity patch fragrances (Midnight Poison, Xerjoff Richwood, TF White Patchouli, YSL Elle). It's much more powdery compared to the others (I think it's Cashmeran) Longevity is good, sillage is moderate, not too heavy. It's a good scent but it lacks a bit of character, it's a bit too vanilla for my taste.

Smoky fruity-floral. Rather an evening creation, especially in warmer months. Start is reaching oudiness, but on closer inspection it's a musky plum with vanilla background. Through the clound of plummy sweetness with vanilla sparkles captured by musk, slowly other notes are appearing. Rose, but only from afar, jasmin, also way behind the musky plum. Oranges brighten the sweet smoke a bit. Beautiful. Soft, sweet, smoky and intoxicating. Radiates like mad from my wrist alone - creating a fragrant cloud over pulse point.

I hope this one is here to stay! Dolce Gabbana makes wonderful perfumes with excellent quality, but the last ones released seem to have disappeared from the market, which is a shame. There's nothing sadder than falling so much in love with a perfume and it just disappears. I love the One Gold ♥️ and I used to really like the One edp too but it was never the same after the reformulation. I think it was just citrusy and lost all the peach and amber.

On the one hand I love it and on the other it is a disappointment. The aroma I love for me is a vanilla aroma well balanced with fruit notes, flowers that make it a perfect accompaniment, a beautiful set, for me it is very feminine and ... total ... I love the aroma. My disappointment is in the duration and intensity, it does not have an eau de parfum duration and it does not have an intense perfume intensity as they say on the box.

Today it opened on me bubble gummy. I feel also plums. So far it is distant from classical The One, The One Desire and The One Collector which are similar. The vanilla dose is the smallest. It is well-blended. I feel also mandarin. The bubble gum effect is jasmine. It is not smoky at all this time. I remember it being a smoky plummy floral in summer and autumn. I think the scent is worthy of the lavish bottle.

I have Devotion and The One Gold on each arm... I think I prefer this one over Devotion. It just has more depth that the other is lacking. My boyfriend also prefers this one as well. It’s comforting to both our noses. Personally, I’d say it’s a safe blind-buy. Pretty :) the plum mixes well with the other notes.. not headache-inducing whatsoever.

Quite separate from the original The One version. They both smell luxurious, seductive and truly classy in that golden, rich way, but they are not very alike. This is fruity patchouli scent with some deepness and roundness from vanilla and plum. If you added black currant to this composition, it would almost smell like Ani by Nishane. +

I have The One and The Only One, but this I got as a tester. I actually like this the most. I really like the pink pepper and patchouli, also more hint of rose in this one. This is separate from the others, wouldn't even say they are sisters. A win in my eyes, would get this one if its was on sale.

Fresh and musky fruitchuli. This is not sweet and vanillic like the OG The One. I don't understand how this can be a "gold" flanker...oh well. It is not unpleasant, it's just not what I was expecting. It reminds me a lot of Montblanc Femme Individuelle, same fresh musky patchouli. Sample it first.

Smells like your grandma but better. Its a very warm almost gourmand smell but, its not headache inducing as most gourmands are for me. I love it, I love smelling it on other people. The only thing i don’t really like is it can be a bit extreme at first.

so i finally tested it yesterday and boy this was a disappointment! very light fruity citrus with a touch of vanilla - more fresh than vanilla, extremely watered down and almost unisex because very citrussy and harsh like a cologne. doesn't match the botyle design at all

This perfume isn't exactly my taste, but it's nice! It smells expensive, musky and there's a warm, inviting plum note in the opening. The jasmine, rose and patchouli notes are also quite noticeable.

Too bad this theme was already used in the One Gold Edition...they are too similar and the notes seems also nothing much different. Boring

Disappointment because the label "intense". compared to the original one this definetely has less silage. a delightful, fresh skin scent

I agree with @lulu169’s review. This is more fresh than sweet and leans more unisex than feminine. With regards to silage and projection, it is soft to moderate. All in all, this was a blind-buy fail for me!

Has the same “cold” camphorous vibe as perles de lalique. Both don’t have camphor in the note pyramid though

Too much patchouli, I could not stand the patchouli together with the vanilla, it also smells so cheap :(

If you have any reservations about patchouli feel free to pass on this. Not the worst patchouli fragrance out there and has the D&G quality but that note still feels pretty invasive and domineering. It would've been lovely with tonka instead of patchouli which never wears down completely and is bearable only when the scent is soon to be gone. I dunno why perfumers of today are so into making us ladies smell dirty and/or manly but it's very perplexing how just one note can ruin the whole pyramid just like that. And what a pyramid! I might give it another go later because otherwise it's very classy and sultry but I'm not getting my hopes up. Edit: after wearing D&G The One I can definitely trace The One DNA here. It could be the male counterpart of the original fragrance, and a decent one at that. But as women's fragrance - absolutely not.

I've been wanting to venture out and try diff scents and I've noticed that it takes me awhile to "warm" up to fragrances w/plum. I like it but its not an instant OMG I LOVE THIS reaction at 1st sniff. I've read n saw many rave reviews about The One Gold and thought I'd get my hands on one. On my skin, the plum is prominent off the bat but it takes a seat (it's still there just not center stage) to the other ingredients. I love musky/powdery scents and I can def smell it and that's the saving grace for me. Its hot & humid right now & w/that being said I can't wait to see how the perfume performs in cooler temps. While this perfume didn't give me the reaction I wanted at 1st sniff, I must say that I can't stop smelling my wrists. It's a win win I guess. I don't regret the buy.

I honestly do not know how to feel about this one. See, I'm not a patchouli lover, and am allergic to certain types of musk. Absolutely the sample for me, *not*. BUT in spite of that, I appreciate it. It's nothing I smelled before. I keep smelling my cardigan where I tested it on. It has an amazing opening of plum. And I smelled Lily of the valley and patchouli and musk. It gets very earthy indeed. Triggered my allergy, sneezed at least 2 times, when I got a whiff of it when entering the room again after 5 minutes of spraying it. But no headaches! I kind of like it even. It's very well crafted. But to get a bottle, no. Definately for people who like earthy patchouli and musk. The plum makes it feminine, but I can see a guy pulling this one off easily.

Pink pepper stays prominent from start to finish. I think that's partially what makes this smell rather masculine / unisex, it has a cologne quality to it. I utterly adore unisex fragrances though, I would love to smell this on men and women alike. it's a very elegant but also sexy blend, soft sillage, but long lasting power. Exactly the way I like my perfumes. Vanilla and patchouli are the main notes, I don't get much of the fruits. If you like 'The One' from 2006 you won't necessarily like this. These perfumes smell like they're from different eras. The One has that early 2000's take on feminine fruity perfumes, it smells a bit dated, powdery and vintage to me now. The One Gold is none of those things and smells like a modern perfume.

Not sure where ppl get the idea that this smells cheap or grandma-ish but it doesn’t to me at all thankfuly. I blind bought this wonderful fragrance for my gf thinking she’d at least love to have that beautiful gold finish bottle on her shelves in our display case even if the smell was a miss. But D&G again came through with a solid hit as we both instantly loved it when she sprayed it on. Not a fan of plum in fragrances (couldn’t stand it in Bad Boy Cobalt Parfum) but this one is done just right. To my nose, The One Gold is not very fruity nor is it very sweet. Very patchouli forward fragrance. Love it. Very lady-like. Head-turner for me no doubt.

I must say I really like this version..it isn’t as sweet , the vanilla isn’t playing first role here, we have a tamed toned down version of the original..elegant, softer, still with a nice warm vanilla...if the original was too much for you, try this version...the pink pepper and plum give it a more grown up vi, with a bit of a spicy undertone..it is sooo nice ! Feminine, it stays on you like a veil of luxury,might not be as unique and recognizable as the original,but I personally quite like it. UPDATE: I find it light and non descriptive , when I wear it, I feel it has a cheap vibe,like Lady Million, just not much into it.

Very easy to distinguish from the OG The One. They’re both warm and sweet, but the Gold version is earthier and heavier. It kind of reminds me of the Burberry Goddess and Goddess Intense situation - both golden, sunny, warm, but the intense version brings in a strong patchouli that makes it feel more rooted and serious. This one is very pleasant. I think I still prefer the OG The One, but you won’t do yourself a disservice with Gold. It’s an elegant, comfy scent if you prefer your fragrance to have a bit of weight and presence, rather than being too airy or atmospheric.

All I smell is Oud. They say the scents you DON'T like are the ones you can't get rid of. One spray and I will unfortunately be smelling Oud for days. Glad I smelled it now before wearing it to a holiday party. It's not that I hate Oud, it's just that it does not work in Florida weather. One of the worst blind buys I've ever bought. I was expecting something gloriously feminine, this is probably influenced by all the Mid-eastern stuff D & G is releasing lately in this line.

My mum got me this perfume as a gift and I immediately hated it because of the patchouli, we’ve had lots of perfumes with patchouli to the point that I can no longer tolerate it (i was also pregnant). Then I revisited it 2-3 years later, and to be fair it smells like a well blended and balanced fruity, musky vanilla patchouli, if I smelled it on someone I’d think it’s a sophisticated “fruity” designer perfume. Do I like it now? No, but I don’t hate it as before.

This is one of my best impulse buys from a duty free. A boozy plum note with pink pepper and rose, set on a base of patchouli and musk with a touch of vanilla. I don’t usually like fragrances where patchouli dominates, but here it’s done brilliantly. The scent is intense but not sweet, and it definitely grabs attention and turns heads. Longevity and projection are very good. It’s a fragrance well suited to evenings or the autumn and winter season.

Smells EXACTLY like prada intense A smooth chocolatey patchouli that doesn't turn sour or dirty It smells high quality and im impressed that they've actually done patchouli some justice here because judging by the notes alone, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. Perfect winter scent, smells expensive, smells interesting, a love from me.

Gosh.. anyone else’s nose detecting the similarities between this and Ylang in Gold by M.Micallef? Which is almost embarrassing to say considering the names🙈 it’s not a dupe but it could be a deeper, autumn cider fruity relative

I sounded so indeed thrilled and lifted up in it every time I spray . The all nine ingredients that I feel passionate them are gathered in to be this signature accords hence it delivered luxurious feeling for myself.

This is absolutely a unisex fragrance. It smells pretty much exactly the same as the musk cubes I would buy in Saudi Arabia. When I smelled it immediately took me to saudi arabia. Nice soft clean smell.

-Run-of-the-mill fruitchouli scent. -Reminiscent of Chloe's Nomade in the damp oakmoss bit. -Reminiscent of Armani Si in the bit where it opens smelling like champagne. (-)
