The One Luminous Night

Everything I am going to say has been echoed below but lets take it up a few notches. This is the ultimate sweet amber scent and a masterpiece that will be remembered for many years to come. With many pseudo-niche houses cranking out scents for triple the price that don't smell half as good, Luminous Night is a definitive release. It proves that all you actually need is the stars aligning with a genius perfumer. Who'd of thought! As for the scent, it's only loosely related to the original The One in that it's a sweet, sexy sort of fragrance. But this is even sweeter and has a much more robust base. Somehow dialling up these two aspects works as all the elements have been kept in perfect balance. Off the top you get a blast of peppery citrus that quickly subsides to the sweet core at it's heart. Here you'll find the dominant 'date' note which comes across like a jammy fruit. I get shades of apple/raisins which is how you expect the smell of this dried fruit to be approximated. Needless to say it smells delicious, with mild green/floral notes taking the edge off, keeping things somewhat spicy, uplifting & fresh. Equally important and why it never feels too sweet, despite being extremely sweet, is the amber/incense base complimenting the overload of sticky fruits. This base is so finely judged and balanced with the heart that it never gets overbearing or synthetic smelling, despite adding considerable heft to the fragrance. Lastly throw in a dose of creamy sandalwood smoothing everything out and wow, what an amazing blend. All in all it's a designer themed fragrance executed to such high levels that transcends the sum of it's materials. You could call this niche, if niche represents the best perfume available on the market, but there's nothing particularly niche about this on paper. Again it's all about the execution and hats off to Herault for showing them how it's done. The One Luminous Night is opulence in a bottle. Easily approachable and a delight to wear as it surrounds you in a bubble of sweet, sparkling fruity delight. 10/10.

Blind buy. After waiting months for this to pop up at a reasonable price, I snagged it. I was on a wait list for notification, and within 3 hours of it coming back in stock it was sold out. I already own royal and mysterious night, which are great in their own way. I have read and watched so many reviews, and all I can say is - if you have a chance to buy this, do it. I've only been collecting for around a year and this by far is one of the best scents I've ever smelled. In the opening however, is where it might be the most hit or miss - many people say it's medicinal, some say its almost a bubblegum sweetness - for me, all I can think of is "plastic". Now, I first sprayed it on indoors where it's very warm. I could not really pick out much notes, it felt weak. I stepped outside, it's around 8 degrees Celsius here, and I immediately got slapped in the face with the projection on this. At the very least, it's above average. It's maybe not room filling, but definitely just short of that. After the first 20 minutes it smooths out to this dark, sweet, amber smell. A bit minty and green as some have said. It's just really something you have to experience. My one "gripe" - I eat dates pretty regularly so I was curious to see what a date note would smell like - I honestly am not sure I pick out what they're aiming for as "dates" - but nonetheless this takes nothing from my enjoyment . Would like to know what others think of the date specifically. This is only my first spray, and after 2 hours i can still smell my wrist from 2 feet away. I hope this helps anyone curious or on the fence. I've been eyeing this for months and I'm so glad I went for the blind buy.

This stuff is the creme de la creme of the The One line. I love the rest of the line almost totally but this just stands head and shoulders above them all. This actually comes across nice enough to be put out by a high end niche perfumer and nobody would be even slightly surprised. The open is sweet. Make no mistake about that but it’s a sweetness that has a rich backbone to it that isn’t like getting stiff armed but it has a sturdiness to the scent that lets you know it will be there for a while. A long while as it turns out. This has a definitive Initio Side Effect vibe to it (I’ve reviewed Side Effect as well) and that’s not a bad thing at all. The opening calms down into a really warm and seductive blend of spices and sweetness from the dates. The base notes all come up through as the open fades but stay back enough to let you know they’re waiting their turn to come forward. When this settles into the dry down the amber and incense just nestle into the sandalwood and some of the remaining spices for a date night scent that will just blow your mind. The fact that this is SO hard to find is understandable but frustrating so if you can get, get it. This is a sincerely recommended “If you even SEE it you MUST buy it” kind of fragrance. Fragrance - 10/10 Projection - 9/10 Sillage - 10/10 Longevity - 10/10 As stated above this is a MANDATORY recommend and you will just not regret it.

I got a 10 ml decant of this beauty from eBay and I love it. I don't think its being marketed right now in NorthAm. I guess its positioned primarily for the middle eastern market but hopefully soon. I have both the original and the One Mysterious Night but this is the one for me. The OG and TOMN are okay but I guess its just so so on my skin, meaning it didn't really give me that wow factor that it suits my skin chemistry, however this one does. They are not similar but somehow, it has this vibe reminiscent of Mancera Aoud Blue Notes because of that subtle fruity sweetness from the dates note which makes it even better for me. Also, I am not a big fan of amber accords but here it's nutty and well blended, simply gorgeous. Best for cold weather and formal occasion, I would wear this on social gatherings and evening encounters. But for the most part, I'll use it for my personal olfactive pleasure. As far as performance and projection, I guess it won’t let you down. I would give this nocturnal wonder a 9.5/10 “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. D&G The one, was one of my favourite fragrances when it first came out, but the following flankers didn't stir interest, with the positive exception of The One Gentleman. Luminous night is quite the "beacon in the dark", an evening scent of sorts, sweet & sophisticated, but not your outwardly sweetness like ala One million and crew. Grand stuff this, the opening is fresh and peppery, the "date" note or more likely "date syrup" and the Geranium builds up the subdued sweetness. The base notes are not surprisingly, dependent on amber, with the added incense and sandalwood notes, which create the sweet, velvet, vanilla vibe in the drydown. I found this to be the best amongst the three limited edition releases. You do get the D&G the one DNA but minus the tobacco All seasonal scent? It is an evening scent for spring time IMO, but otherwise quite good for winter and autumn wear Unisex? More geared towards the masculine side Blind buy worthy? Test it before buying, but still a safe bet for the autumn and winter seasons Performance? Longevity, 8 to 9 hours, with moderate projection and sillage

I got it yesterday. One little spray on my arm to test it, and it was more than enough. One hour outdoors, and the rest on a controlled environment (AC). It last on my skin easily 10+ hours, and with good projection. The first 3-4 hours was projecting well. After that, it was on a close bubble and only people close to me could smell it, but it was present for hours. The top notes are detectable immediately. The black pepper stays longer, and the dates gives this sweet aspect that balances off the sharpness of the black pepper. The incense was light, not Church type. Overall, a great experience. As a reference: it has a similar performance than Sauvage Elixir. I thought it would be very challenging but it was perfectly fine. As a side note, I usually sneeze when I smell pepper, and this one made me sneeze in a few occasions during my test. It’s hard to get it. I found mine online from a reputable seller. I would suggest getting a decant and tested it. Again, is not challenging (at least to me), but if you only wear light fragrances, this will take you to a different place for sure.

The One EDP is a masterpiece. Yet, somehow this manages to be orders of magnitude better. I don't know what sort of secret ethereal elixir they added to this, but it takes it into the realm of fantasy. This is Merlin's signature scent. If the high elves of middle earth created a fragrance, it would be this. To me, this is one of those scents that smells so unbelievably good that it could serve to some as an endgame to a fragrance journey. Smooth, dark, sensual, delicious, regal, unique. "Luminous Night" is such a banger name for a fragrance like this. The bottle is gorgeous too. A monolith in perfumery towering high above the rest of the generic blue designer slop, and one of the best fragrance purchases I've ever made. This must be what Aladdin's magic carpet ride felt like. Truly stunning. It would haunt me forever if I smelled this on someone and was never able to find out what they were wearing. This should not be as out of reach as it is for a designer scent. Easiest 10/10 of my life. I am diamond fisted on this juice.

Just got this in today. I got it from Frangrancebuy. Absolutely gorgeous! I am so happy I finally got a bottle. It is better than I expected. This is also my first and only D&B fragrance, I have tried The One EDP in stores and it is awesome, but this is its own thing. You can smell similarities but I think this is unique. I blind bought this (of course) and I couldn't be happier! If these kind of frags are your jam, get you some! Good luck! I will come back and add to this review after some time spent with it. 2/18/23: Masterpiece! I have been loving this since day one. It is subtle but permeates. I wish it was louder but again, it does permeate. Addictive as anything I own! Slight peppery woody sweetness is incredible. Easy blind buy. Bottle is one of my favorites as well. It is heavy and a gorgeous blue with the gold writing and cap. It sells out quick for a reason, I may even try to get a second bottle lol. My collection is already way bigger than it needs to be, though. 3-5-23 Addiction in a bottle!

The reviewer FAST below is quite correct in stating that this smells like Initio's Side Effect, but this comes through in the late dry-down. I actually get a subtle and fleeting sweet tobacco in this stage of the wear. For the most part, however, The One Luminous Night is a dominant date note fragrance. I was considerably apprehensive about trying this one because black pepper and I aren't compatible, but the pepper is virtually absent here. Phew! This is a sweet fragrance, with that date note front and centre throughout the wearing. It could get a bit too much for those who aren't partial to sweet scents, so I would encourage sampling first. But I like this a lot. It is gorgeous. Excellent performance - I am getting 12+ hours. The One Luminous Night will work so well for the colder seasons and evenings. A fragrance that is unique to my nose, and will have you smelling distinctive.

If you are looking for something that will substitute Luminous Night, the best one that I've found thus far, is Lumière Garçon Fragrance World. I've tried Art of Arabia III by Lattafa, and Brave Heart, and will say that Brave Heart is closer than Art of Arabia III, but is really weak. Lumière Garçon Fragrance World hits the sweet spot for $45 if you're looking for something under $230... I also think Lumière Garçon Fragrance World is closer than Initio Side Effect, which I think leans pretty far away from Luminous Night, but is in the same ballpark. I'm just trying to put a friendly message out there because Art of Arabia III is being hyped up big time, and it's very floral, and is not as close as you'd think to the OG. Luminous Night is a beautiful frag, but virtually impossible to get at a reasonable price. Cheers!!!

Got the scent in today, at first wear I can tell you it is incredible. For me it opens much the same that it matures, and I love scents like that. For me, this is a richly woody scent that is brightened up by the sweet accords (bergamont and dates from the note breakdown), laced with a wisp of incense for a slightly smoky balance and a touch of powdery elegance. The amber is just present enough to provide some familiarity to 'The One' OG. This is how woods should be used in fragrance in my opinion. To provide the depth and a robust base, but have enough balance from sweet and aromatic accords to invigorate and elevate it. Too many wood forward scents dry to a stale, brittle maturation. But not this. Definitely recommend picking this up if you can find it. Designer name, niche type of delivery (for me).

This is brilliant. The comparisons to Side Effect particular in the opening are apt. There's a similar bubblegumeyness at the start, that to me thankfully wears off very quickly, whereas I find Side Effect it remains more, but there's still another similarity - even though I feel like Side Effect is some kind of hybrid of cherry and strawberry liqueur, and this is meant to be dates, there's some similar way the sweet note smells to me with both. Here there's thick, rich, creamy sandalwood providing foundation, over which there's fresh brightness like certain spirits like Pernod or Jagermeister. The pepper emerges as that brightness fades. The drydown is wonderful. Sort of dates and ice cream. Fresh, fruity, creamy, peppery, incense. A daytime scent for deep thinkers. Herault is a genius.

This is a nice scent indeed. It's cozy warm fresh sweet and slightly smokey. It reminds me CK Euphoria Amber Gold a lot. I wish it had a bigger punch though. Atomizer on this is awful. It really could utilize one similar to PdMs that sprays more and narrower. After trying The One EDT and EDP I decided this line wasn't for me. However, many talking about this and I found a bottle at a reasonable price, I decided to give it a try and yup this doesn't have much in common with the EDP or EDT. It reminds me those but whatever it is, is gone after 5-10 mins. If you really like this, I highly recommend giving CK Euphoria Amber Gold a try if you can find a bottle at a reasonable price though and thank me later 😉

this surprised me. unique fresh spicy middle eastern scent. the more n more i get whiffs of it the better it gets. fast skipped opening of basil n pepper. goes straight into sweet dates and i love dates. its not a gourmand at all but i pick up on the date note so much that it makes me wanna eat some. supported with a very full sage n geranium giving it a ''bubble soap'' rose accord. fresh, sweet, very intriguing, deep. strong base of amber, incense and sandalwood. i love this tbh i can see this work in slightly warm spring days and colder summer nights, its not too dense or sweet. sooo good. i might pick up a bottle of this one day if i can find it. I have been searching day and night for this fragrance and couldn’t get my hands on it until TODAY! I couldn’t resist the urge to test it and see how it performs. Once I sprayed it on, I instantly fell in love with this scent. It’s peak oriental perfumery; no wonder the “special edition” tag and middle eastern marketing. Also, do not listen to what fragrance reviewers say, you can rock this even during the day and warmer weather, it’s a middle eastern fragrance!!! This was the last bottle that my perfume dealer/local discounter had and he sold it to me at a good price (80$). It’s like this bottle was waiting for me... 10/10 - Everything is perfect about this perfume

Nose Note #1088 I have first had French Avenue Lumiere Garcon and although (judging from memory) DG is a bit different, but ultimately French Avenue made an amazing dupe. Mysterious Night is somewhat more transparent, a little less dense and less centered on the note of dates. It even has a subtle minty feeling, but that's it. Lumiere Garcon is spot on. Performance-wise they are just the same - perform great. Also I have to say, this is very similar to Blonde Amber, but I prefer the DG DNA, it's richer and have this amazing dates facet. Super elegant. Or else, take MFK Grand Soir and add two layers of complexity on top. Just great. 9/10

This is one of my favorite fragrances in my collection. It's simple yet sophisticated. The opening has a subtle intensity with a noticeable black pepper note, giving it a mild spice. But the dry down is where it really shines. I pick up hints of dates, floral notes, and a warm amber. The combination of amber and dates is just magical. The date note is so unique and blends beautifully. It's definitely a compliment getter. I think it's a great blind buy and, in my opinion, the BEST "The One" in the Dolce & Gabbana collection. It's the perfect scent for a date night. I’m not sure why it's underrated in the U.S., but I’m not complaining!

Hmm... just got it, interesting one This shares very little similarity to the original The One Edp. To my nose, it's like a flanker of Guerlain Lomme Ideal(Edp/extreme, somewhere between) and adding some The One DNA to it. The woodiness is more toward powdery side, the spiciness was toned down, and there's a touch of fruity sweetness (Yes the way this presented really reminds me of Lomme Ideal) Powdery, elegant, complex. A quality night time frag makes you smell gentlemanly, not much toward sexy side though. Nah, much better than Mysterious Night by the way. That one with heavy rose/saffron was really hard to put on for a man.

Just came from the Hospital, looks like you can't drink 100ml of Luminous Night But let's not talk about the taste, rather than the smell If somebody is wearing this, I would follow them until Police arrests me for human stalking My family probably won't eat for a week because a scalper took 150$ from my piggy bank, but at least I will smell like sweat from a Greek God If I could choose between a Night with Megan Fox or a Luminous Night, you know my skin would be soaking wet in this Dolce Gabbana creation If you let the sprayer cough in your fuel tank, your car will never need a refill 10/10 masterpiece
