The One

Gorgeous, sweet, warm, feminine, romantic, classy, elegant, chic, charming, creamy, fruity, floral, sensual, seductive, fresh, citrusy, powdery, cozy, comforting On me this opens fresh, fruity sweet, warm, and floral with citrusy mandarin orange, litchi, and bergamot adding a bright freshness, sweet peach, beautiful and delicate lily-of-the-valley, softly spicy white floral lily and jasmine, and warm vanilla. As it dries down the vanilla becomes more rich and prominent, and the golden warmth of the amber and powdery musk become prominent too, adding a beautifully warm depth. The fruity and floral notes stay gently intertwined throughout the wear, just not as pronounced as in the opening. This is so well done, it’s balanced beautifully, and very well blended. The notes that are the most prominent to me throughout its wear are the vanilla, peach, lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, amber, and musk This is so effortlessly chic and beautiful! I have the original formula (which is what I’m reviewing) and have adored it for around 15 years. This has become such a classic fragrance to me... It’s very elegant and other people seem to really enjoy it too. I think it can work easily for all occasions, and throughout the whole year. It’s absolutely a signature worthy scent, and one that I hope to always have in my collection. I also have this in The One Desire version which I love very much as well. To me they are quite similar, but Desire is a sweeter, deeper, richer, and a more sexy version. Even with their similarities I still love having both in my collection, and find them different enough I get exceptional performance with The One. The longevity is amazing... it lasts throughout the entire day on me, and I can still smell it the next morning. The projection is great, it radiates out a few feet from me, but it’s not offensive. It creates this lovely scent bubble around me, and leaves a soft trail. I only need a few sprays to get these results, so I think that makes this a very good value. I also want to mention that I’ve heard that the newer formula doesn’t have the same level of performance, and that it smells somewhat different too. I’ve never tried the newer one to be able to compare them, but I’d still recommend getting the original formula if possible. The performance of these older fragrances sometimes still surprises because it’s so much better than a lot of the newer fragrances I come across (even with old VS and B&BW mists too!).

On my skin The One is gourmand vanilla + exotic fruits, very very creamy, peachy and surprisingly with a hint of chocolate that's present during all stages. I don't know what causes it to smell like that, and I don't like the smell of chocolate in general but here I find it very subtle and complementary. My mom smelled chocolate as well, so I reckon it must be my skin chemistry. It's a scent out of a dream. Mesmerizing and hard to explain. I can pick up some notes from the pyramid but they all exist in beautiful synergy, creating a unique, memorable scent. I was hoping for more peach and plum, the latter I'm not picking up at all unfortunately but I do love what I'm getting. Florals aren't very intense, or well-blended enough not to stick out like a sore thumb. Vetiver is not smoky or dirty and adds a lovely woody touch. It leaves a beautiful trail but as I move my wrist closer to my nose I pick up a slightly synthetic/medicinal smell (edit: no longer! Macerating helped) which is one of the two things I don't enjoy about it, the other one is new formula's lackluster performance. Vetiver gets more prominent as time passes (dried hay vetiver, my favorite kind), still accompanied by powdery gourmand vanilla, and they make for a gorgeous harmony of notes. This fragrance is warm, sunny and truly golden. It SMELLS Italian! I imagine this is something Apollonia from The Godfather would smell like. “I wish there could be an invention that bottled up the memory, like perfume, and it never faded, and it never got stale. Then whenever I wanted to, I could uncork the bottle and live the memory all over again.” This, essentialy, is what it smells like - like living the memory of a gorgeous woman from the past and spending your vacation on an Italian villa as her. Vintage inspired, luxurious, glamorous in a grown-up way. I could wear it any day of the year, in warmer seasons to make beautiful memories of my own, and in colder ones to relive and cherish them.

This is the type of perfume that could easily become the signature scent for someone. It's soft and comforting, very warm and inviting, like a hug. At first spray one of the notes almost smells candy-like, maybe candied oranges? Must be the combo of litchi and mandarin oranges! Yum! Then it starts to take on a honey-like character, it reminds me a lot of DKNY Nectar Love (I own this one, too! Highly recommend, off Amazon). A beautiful, soft honeyed-vanilla white floral. I could see someone that is introverted, classy, bookish, yet vibrant in their own way wearing this (I am one of these people, I think! lol). It's not really "clean girl aesthetic" lol, but it's that friend that may not go party with you, but is always there to talk and comfort you after a bad day. It's definitely unique in the sense that no one wears this type of fragrance DNA anymore, it came out in 2006. For me personally, I feel this suits any occasion and season for someone who wants to smells comforting yet quietly sexy, except for a sticky, swelteringly hot summer day lol, for that you may want something fresher and fruitier! I haven't tried layering with anything yet, but I imagine anything jasmine/vanilla or even lavender/vanilla (Mon Guerlain or Libre type of scents), something along those lines to customize the cozy factor of this fragrance hehe. I love this perfume, and DKNY Nectar Love. <3 *Disclaimer: I wouldn't say it's blind buy safe if you wear stronger, more pronounced fragrances with louder notes. However, if you are a lover of "safer" perfumes like Daisy or Light Blue and you want a warmer fragrance, I think you would like this one.* Actually, Daisy may just be perfect to layer with this fragrance, now that I think about it lol.

Iconic and classic perfume. It is still autumn here and it is not that cold yet but the weather is ideal for this fragrance. I used to have and enjoy its masculine counterpart but the one (😜) I truly love is the feminine one. It is more unique and performs better than the masculine one. A fruity floral combination that I am actually a fan of. A creamy, milky base of lilly, vanilla and amber with a fruity, sweet accord of peach and litchi on top. "The One" opens with an intense fruity note which lasts about 30 minutes to an hour then it dries into a creamy, light but strong scent. I imagine white flowers soaked in honeyed milk whenever I wear this. While it is a soft scent, the longevity and sillage are great, especially on fabric. It is modest and confident at the same time. All of these qualities make "The One" a super versatile scent. It is good for everyday use but also suitable for formal events. I can also imagine this being worn in the evening/at night. While I am not sure about summer, it will probably be nice for the rest of the year as long as the weather isn't too hot. The gold cap and elegant, simple bottle represent the scent really well. It is an awesome scent for Dolce and Gabbana's name to be attached to. I will always associate Dolce and Gabbana with this fragrance.

Soft, creamy, alluring fragrance. I would consider this a predominate amber-vanilla scent with soft white florals that dance in the background. I do not detect the peach beyond the first couple minutes of application, and very small traces of the plum. Occasionally the citrus will come put to play and it lends just the right amount of kick. The dry down is warm and scrumptious and makes me feel edible. While being a sexy scent, it's still manages to be very sophisticated and is one of my absolute favorites for the office. Perfect for fall and winter seasons. I do find that I have to overspray in order to get some longevity and projection - which is still minimal. I like to apply closer to the face/neck and on clothes to help with this. This beauty sits closer to the skin on me. While I appreciate that the softness of this is what makes it so lovely, I do wish it was a bit more potent. I enjoy walking through my own sillage and tend to wear this for a couple consecutive days each time because I can't get enough of it in just a days time. (That says a lot, as I am moody and prefer a new scent every single day). This one would also work beautifully as a vanilla layering option. A successful blind buy for me that I would definitely repurchase!

Dolce and Gabbana has done it again. This perfume LITERALLY makes me want to take a bite out of myself its so insanely delicious smelling. I would say it smells like powdered amber and peaches... with a good amount of Ouuuungghhhh factor... This is the type of scent that you would smell in the fall time from a veeeerrryyyyyyyy sultry lady you'll only remember when you smell peaches and wonder to yourself "now where did i smell this...." I have weird skin chemistry and most perfumes I love and adore don't last long on me, but this one has stayed FORREEEVERRR! The only thing I wish it would have is a little more silliage.. But I'm honestly really happy about how good this smells. The dry down is also pretty great since it mostly stays the same except I feel like the peachesmix with the amber a littttle more to make the most alluring amber type scent I've ever smelled (so far at least). This was a blind buy at burlington and I literally cannot stop sniffing this on myself anymore. My mom puts it on. I put it on. My sister puts it on. Soon my sister in law will. This really is a dangerous perfume. 9.7/10 only because I like a little more muskier ish types of perfumes but otherwise? Almsot perfection/

I absolutely adore this fragrance! I purchased it many many years ago for my bestie. She had asked for it for her birthday. She is a tall, statuesque blond who is always dressed elegantly and usually wears her hair pulled back in a perfect low ponytail. She always wears understated clothing, makeup and fragrance. It was beautiful on her. I can’t say I ever knew it was her fragrance, let alone the one I had purchased for her. I actually ordered it and never smelled it. She probably sprayed it when she opened it, but I am sure I had a couple martinis 🍸 and didn’t notice. 🤭 I just knew she always smelled soft and clean, and elegant. She wore this fragrance, it didn’t wear her. I recently purchased it for my collection and boy, it smells like her! It’s like she’s in my closet with me! I love it! It’s not her signature scent anymore. I bought her bal d’afrique for her birthday last year! But it makes me think of her which is great because we now live in different states! The Lilly and Lilly of the valley combo is just absolutely stunning!! I adore it and will always keep it in my collection! I think it shines best in spring and early fall, but can definitely be worn all year!

I’ve just received mine. Blind buy ... I had to spray a few times for whatever reason to smell pretty much anything on my arm. Maybe the new formula is weak. It’s sad like people are saying, we are losing perfumes to reformulations. So I have to put my nose right up to my arm currently. It’s yummy though & would not be offensive to anyone in an office etc. I got the citrus at opening. Smells delicious up close like a baked good, almost like a little bit of spice, I guess the amber & vetiver warm it up. But it’s easily worn all year, any time of day I feel. I like those kinds of perfumes & don’t have many like that. I wonder if this will come alive more in the cold weather. Seems like it’s an easy go-to for anything fall & winter. I like powdery notes. I like to smell like high end, makeup counter vibes ... Narciso Ambree is much more powdery & mature on me than this. It doesn’t wow me so far because seems like low sillage & nothing punchy stands out. But blended so well that it’s easily worn with anything anytime & would be chic. I was looking for something a lot more fruity & sexy for a date night. But I’m glad to have this overall. I’ll have to keep testing it.

Fragrances are an excellent barometer for the passing of times and trends. When I smell this, it doesn't smell modern. Nor should it I suppose...but it causes my heart to ache just a *little bit*...because when this came out I was 16. Something about this composition feels nostalgic to me, although I never wore this when I was younger, and I don't think I knew anyone that did. The peachy vanillic florals are very well blended. The vanilla along with the rest of this blend smells very soft and silken, not at all cakey or smothering (I like cake though, no shade on modern cakey frags). I can absolutely see how this is referenced often as a sensual fragrance, and how it would appeal to romantic partners. Because yes...there's something beautifully *bedroom* about this, but not at ALL risqué or overtly sexual (again, no shade, there's a place for that type of thing). The basenotes linger in such a wonderful way, and nothing juts out at all. I really think this is gorgeously crafted, Christine Nagel did wonderful work here and I'm very glad to see this still on the shelves nearly 20 years later.

I have recently started trying out fragrances I overlooked in the past because I had a *fragrance type* and didn’t personally try things I considered too floral or mainstream. I saw a bottle of this on sale online two weeks ago and because of my obsession with anything gold. I bought it. I received it over a week ago and I was amazed at how good it smelt on my initial spraying of it. I have worn it a couple of times to test it properly before giving my review and it is a LOVE from me. It evokes the feeling of someone beautiful, full of life, golden personality and confident of herself. Sillage is good and longevity is above average. I am in a hot climate that is also humid so that can affect the longevity. It’s not a unique scent that people can guess what you are wearing immediately but it is very lovely that people will ask you what you are wearing. Will I buy it again? At a discounted price, yes but I know myself, I will probably want to try something new because I am at that phase now were I am collecting fragrances that are blasts from the past or discontinued.

Gorgeousssssss 🩷. And so nostalgic. This reminds me of my beautiful mother, as it was her signature scent when I was a child. I remember seeing this beautiful bottle on her perfume tray and picking it up to smell it from the cap because I didn’t wanna waste her stuff. I remember smelling it in the morning after she left for work and on her clothes when I hugged her. This smells expensive, luxe, and elegant, while still cozy, warm, and down to earth. Sometimes, I wear it layered with my signature scents, Bianco Latte and/or Indult Tihota. It’s the perfect blend of soft, feminine, dainty, powdery, peachy florals and sweet, warm, fluffy, enveloping vanilla. I also want to note that I am impressed with the longevity and sillage! Based on so many reviews, I was nervous that it would be a fleeting skin scent but after wearing it for a few hours, I still smell it on my skin and wafting through the air after a hot day walking around. I bought a tester from Jomashop.

I still have my bottle from around 2010 (I was in my early 20s) as well as some body lotion and body wash, and I absolutely love this fragrance! To me it’s always been a warm, softly fruity, subtly sweet, white floral. Beautiful, feminine, elegant, and most of all, romantic. I get mostly white florals, softly sweet vanilla, warm amber, powdery musk, and a subtle fruity peach scent. It’s absolutely lovely! I particularly enjoy wearing it during the springtime because of the romantic floral scent/feeling that I get. I do enjoy it during the fall and winter as well, especially because of its warmth. It makes me feel wrapped in cozy luxury. The One has been a staple in my collection for over 10 years, and I imagine it always will be. I typically get great longevity with my fragrances, and The One is no exception, it lasts the entire day on me. The projection is nice too, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me.

I owned The One a little more than a decade ago, in my late twenties, and enjoyed wearing it. Unfortunately I sold it, along with the majority of my formerly large perfume collection, when I thought I was done wearing fragrances. (Let this serve as a lesson to you- don't declutter something that was once a major, long running hobby without waiting a few years. We all go through phases. 😬) Anyway, this is one I'm currently trying to repurchase. I remember it made me feel expensive, feminine, ladylike. Alluring in a completely appropriate way. An initial citrusy-peach blast that dries down into creamy white florals. It was a relief from the cloying berry notes that are typically used in most fruity florals. Works for daytime or nighttime, and most seasons except the dog days of summer. Once my new bottle arrives, I will update if my impression has changed.

This is the love of my life in a perfume bottle, the lily and vanilla are so strong in this fragrance, the ingredients are smoothly blended, you can feel the creaminess coming through, it is a soft oriental Autumn/Winter cozy fragrance, it smells expensive, elegant, classy, feminine and sexy. Scarlett Johansson was the perfect pick for its campaign, she is the personification of The One enchanting characteristics. I really hope they never discontinue it, I am urged to stock it up just in case. Longevity = 5-6hours, projection = it fills the room up. All I need is two sprays if I am indoors or 8 sprays (the french way) if I am out and about. I think this is one of the two fragrances for which I have gotten compliments. I love this exquisite perfume.

Love this. I'm perhaps against the grain but to me this is a summer scent because it reminds me of fruity, icy, raspados with condensed milk or ice cream in the sweltering heat. Refreshing with a pleasant sweetness that hits the spot without being cloying. To me, the peach and orange hit the strongest in the beginning, then it transitions into a well blended sophisticated floral vanilla musk which is where it seems like a creamy fruity dessert. The amber in this blends the scents into a largely warm and sunny profile. At the drydown there is a bit of the waxiness that others are describing but in a sunscreen or chapstick kind of way which also remind me of a happy summertime. The longevity and sillage are pretty average to weak imho.

I had smelled this perfume someone else in 2008 and recently bought it for myself years later! I smell a bit of rose at the top notes too and a creamy vanilla in the dry down. Longevity is super good I could smell my arm even 5-6 hrs later but I guess the projection and sillage is too low? Any suggestions to increase at least the projection which I care a lot at perfumes? Is the "The One Intense-Gold" better in terms of projection/sillage maybe? I haven't smelled it yet but if there exists a same fragrance w/ better performance than the EDP one, that'd be my signature scent! Still, this One is so good for everyday, office or a day out scent and I still love it!

I purchased this fragrance on accident.....mistaking it for the mens version. As Bob Ross would say.... A Happy Accident. It’s a beautiful powdery Vanille with a soft luxurious cashmere texture. I’m not going to return it because it smells amazing on me. The fragrance is a delicious vanilla gourmand that is very clean and fresh and quite reminiscent of Versace Dreamer....which I also wear frequently. The Sillage is wonderful ...... and compared to the lackluster performance reviews of the men’s EDT....... As a man...... I will wear this fragrance and enjoy it. The Verdict: Excellent

I had this perfume for a certain time in my life when I lived in New Orleans, and I wore it a lot back then when I would get dolled up, heels hats, and all. I honestly never really knew the actual elements of the perfume when I wore it, but what I can say is that the scent correlated immensely with the bottle design. I look at the bottle, and can smell this again. It's a powerful, feminine, professional scent, and though I'm not in the place to wear it much right now in my life, I would definitely buy this again to settle into a new opportunity or role for a confidence boost.

Dolce & Gabbana The One for women will always be tied to my wedding day, and every time I wear it, I’m right back in that moment. On my skin, it opens with a burst of bright citrus and soft florals, but quickly melts into something warm and edible—like a delicate lemon tart dusted with powdered sugar. The blend of vanilla, amber, and a whisper of musk makes it feel both elegant and comforting, the kind of scent that lingers like a memory. It lasts for hours on me with a golden, inviting trail, and wearing it makes me feel radiant, romantic, and completely myself.

This is pure happiness in a bottle. The longevity is great and the smell is sweet yet soft. I will never stop wearing this and the name of the perfume suits it really well. Really comforting and dopamine inducing, intoxicating in a way that makes you think 'where have you been all my life?!' I kept going back to this fragrance and I just can't get enough of it because there is nothing out there like this and I love it with every fiber of my being. Definitely my signature scent for good reasons.
