The Only One

I smelled this on a woman as she was passing me by in the street.. I stopped to ask what she was wearing.. I could definitely detect sweet fizzy florals and violet and some grounding woody notes. (The woody effect probably comes from patchouli and coffee together). and I thought this was so beautiful .. like a forest of violet flowers .. no wonder since caramel is one of its main notes and I love caramel.. it's what makes it sweet in a sophisticated way.. I absolutely love this but I already have so many Perfumes.. I might one day get it Edit: I got it in a small size and I absolutely adore this.. and now that I read the review above me I can absolutely smell a salted aspect now.. it is what I interpreted as a sweet fizzy note on that woman.. Thank u to the person above me for his point of view. It's so sexy yet so playful.. One of the reviews below me says the notes are wrong just because the official website lists other notes.. Well for one official websites aren't always listing the correct notes either. Or maybe they dont list all the notes. and I am sure i smell the rose emerging in mid dry down. It's not the star of the show but its there. Even before I looked at the notes I knew I could bet I was smelling a rose note. I can smell caramel too. The coffee mixed with certain sweet notes may give the scent of caramel though. Heliotrope may be that sweet note since it smells of bitter almonds and cinnamon. Mix that with coffee and u have a caramel ingredient. Try adding those ingredient to a cake sweetened with dates and u will be makin the most delicious caramel flavoured cake.

This is the first of my perfumes that expands my collection into iris, violet, and patchouli, and also my first blind buy! Bought this because I was drawn in by the coffee note. "The Only One" is SUPER sweet but I find it to be a bit different from other sweet/gourmand-ish scents. The caramel is very prominent but beautifully brought down by the powdery iris and violet. Personally I cannot discern the coffee note, if it's there then its beautifully blended with the rest of the notes. I think the patchouli base really makes it different from all my other gourmands, there's something indescribable about how great this is compared to other sweet perfumes I own, adding a profile that's a bit flirty and maybe a tad bit more formal than other sweet perfumes. I find it to be long lasting without the notes evolving as much, maybe in its final hours the powdery notes overpower the rest and I get a faint baby wipe smell, but not in a bad way!! It also has nice projection as I can catch it's scent while moving around. Excellent choice, 10/10 💖

I am having a personal crisis. As a self-proclaimed patchouli hater, never did I ever picture myself buying something that contained it, let alone a concoction that reads like a Frankensteined mix of several other perfumes I never liked enough to purchase. But... somehow the coffee and patchouli from YVS Black Opium, powdery caramel from Prada Candy, and some fresh and fruity notes in the same vein as Devotion/Light Blue/Burberry Her all add up to something I not only don’t hate but might..really like? It’s like the reuben sandwich of perfumes. I have never placed a more confused order in my life. *Edit. My bottle arrived. Ugh this is so pretty and addictive. Sweet and sensual and warm. The bottle is classy. One or two sprays is enough to last all day and beyond, no need to bathe in it. Not a daily wear kind of fragrance for me but something to have on hand for a special or powerful moment. I think it will really shine more in slightly cooler weather, but the freshness of the orange and pear gives it year round appeal as well.

Sort of tried hard not to like this as I bought too many perfumes I didn’t need another when I just got a bunch and all I wear is Narciso Rouge ! However those notes ,,, how can one say NO to this , violets and cofffee are 2 of my favourite things in life. Iris and pear ,vanilla and patchouli STOP ! This is a must have for me ! And to boot it’s a D&G ! The Only One is a smooth, creamy ,fresh and sweet well put together gourmand fragrance. It’s does resemble Black opium but I like this one quite a bit better ,maybe due to the violets and iris. Makes me feel like having a coffee with a vanilla desert wearing my favourite violet perfume mmmm So light and fluffy and addictive. The notes blend beautifully to a fresh sweet sultry sexy scent. D&G can do no wrong, the last release “Dolce Garden”was equally amazing if not better yet. D &G goes with the gourmand trend but has unique twists and great quality fragrances. I rarely smelled a bad D&G yet. Emilia Clarke looks sophisticated and sexy ! Great frangrance , compliment getter !

Sticky Sweet Caramel-Macchiato with Iris & Violet... I just have a sample of this, but I've tested it a few times now. It does remind me of Black Opium Yves Saint Laurent, but without the sparkly, sugar-crystal texture. All the notes are there, but the bergamot starts things off, and powdery iris & earthy patchouli are more forward than the notes suggest. Patchouli here is the deep, earthy, chocolate-cake kind with some hints of soap, rather than the sparkly, scratchy kind. I can smell the coffee, but for me it leans towards a caramel macchiato. This does smell like a popular scent, but for me what makes it unique is the absence of that sparkly sugar-crystal texture common in many popular scents (Black Opium YSL, La Vie Est Belle Lancôme, Coco Mademoiselle Chanel...). For this reason, it's a love for me, and I would say it's worth a test. Enjoy!

I guess it depends on how it reacts to your own skin. On me this is a warm comforting, luxurious, spicy, coco butter, caramel, vanilla scent. I don’t get any tartness or fruits, I also don’t get black opium, although I have been asked once if that’s what it is. I can’t smell any flowery element to it. It’s just delicious, sexy and indulgent. A warm hug on a cold day. I get complimented every where I go when I wear this! I love everything about this scent. When I first tried this years ago, I wasn’t a huge fan but it grew on me and is now my absolute fave every autumn and winter. This perfume does have a sweetness, but it’s more of a sexy boss fragrance. It certainly does project and has turned heads when I’ve worn it. This is a scent that lasts. I can always smell it on my clothes for days after wearing it,

This is vanilla and coffee mixed just the right way with beautiful florals. An intriguing scent, which I find absolutely gorgeous. I was expecting some kind of a clone of Black Opium when the SA at my local store first told me about this fragrance and it's notes. Luckily I was wrong and this is a very well made scent (and by this I don't mean that Black Opium isn't, I just don't need any copies of it) in which all the notes have been carefully balanced to create a very beautiful and captivating outcome unlike anything else. Beautifully fresh, mysterious, floral (iris and violet stand out to me, but they are so beautifully blended in), sweet and deep, all at the same time. Classy, elegant and feminine. Very unique. Thank you D&G for surprising me in such a positive manner with this scent!

I have tested it in perfume store, this Perfume seems that a big mature sister of "Black Opium", but rather more and more feminine sweety caramel powdry perfume than "Black Opium" without any spices or Licorice, well balanced without intensive sharp amount of Patchouli in the dry down. Elegance Classy perfume very suitable to wear at night, in winter and Autum seasons. Sure it's lasts long. I like to own this perfume one day. لقد جربته في متجر العطور، يبدو هذا العطر وكأنه الأخت الكبرى الأنضج لعطر "بلاك أوبيوم"، بل ولكنه عطر حلو بنكهة الكراميل بودري و أنثوي أكثر من "بلاك أبيوم" بدون أي بهارات أو عرق السوس، متوازن جيدًا بدون وجود كمية حادة مكثفة من الباتشولي في القاعدة. أنيق وراقي مناسب جدًا للارتداء في الليل وفي فصل الشتاء والخريف. بالتأكيد يدوم طويلاً. أحب أن أمتلك هذا العطر يومًا ما.

I am loving The One Only!! It is like a refined smooth creamy perfume, very nicely constructed, nothing strong, just smooth and oozing with charm..it is sensuous, féminine, yet doesn't scream at you...I find it more refined than Black opium , which is more thick with its coffee undertone...in The One Only the coffee note is slightly suggested, like the other notes too...the patchouli very neutralized also....it will be a dream to wear in winter...as it has a cozy warm aura...I detect no similarity to the original The One,Only has its own character, and what a beautiful one! A blind buy that turns out excellent ! The violet note is demure, it marries so well to a warm Iris..Can't detect la Nuit Tresor either, This Is better...this is a great new release !!

This was a blind buy for me and I was skeptical at first because of that sharp and unplesant opening note but I quickly fell in nove with it and now it's my go-to perfume for cold weather! It's not too strong, which I personally like in a perfume, and after an hour or two those sharp opening notes turn into a cozy caramel vanilla scent with a hint of coffee. Longevity is great too, I can still smell it on my clothes a day or two after I put in on. In fact, sometimes I spray my clothes the day before I wear them so that I can get straight to those subtle any comfy base notes. Also, although I wouldn't really call it unisex, I would't ming smelling this perfume on a man either. Overall, it's a 8/10 for me, it's definitely worth your money!

I’m in my powdery era, fully enjoying iris and violet notes in perfumes. I recently purchased this one and @LuxAlways down below has gotten this perfume feelings and what it evokes completely right. It’s so addictive, alluring, smells of vacation evenings, rooftop dinners on a classy woman with a bit of edge. She’s not loud, but when she speaks everyone listens. It is a masterful blend of powdery sweetness, a floral caramel, to me not one note stands out against another, but are incredibly well blended. It is amazing from start to finish, even when I don’t (or can’t) distinguish an evolution of notes. I absolutely love it, and for a D&G the performance is outstanding

Notes here on Fragranctica are not correct. After getting a sample with a purchase for another perfume, I had those samples sit around for a while before trying them. But when I finally did, oh my. I immediately loved it. It’s exactly the vibe I was hoping for - a cozy, warm, welcoming vanilla with a hint of caramel. Vanilla and caramel notes can smell a bit cheap, but this doesn’t. It’s very elegant and elevated. It’s also a beast mode fragrance. You do not need more than one or two sprays and it lasts the entire day. Still noticeable on clothes after days. If you spray this once on your coat, the scent is going to follow you around everywhere in the best way possible.

I had to double check that this was, indeed, Dolce & Gabbana The Only One, a cheap sample vial that I just threw in my cart with my Fragrancenet order. Such a well made fragrance, masterfully executed caramel note (they often tend to sound bitter to me). The middle of the fragrance to me is this gorgeous coffee and violet mixture, slightly powdery. And the drydown... oh my! Possibly in top 3 of my favorite drydowns - sweet and creamy dulce de leche with just a hint of iris fuzz. I did not expect to love this whatsoever, as I have never been a fan of D&G fragrances, but this is a solid "love" and a small bottle worthy.

The Only One Dolce&Gabbana is really fantastic scent! Very tick, rich, sexy... kind of sweet-gourmand, but not overwhelming. Imagine something like Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium, but even smoother one and no white flowers... I'm very impressed with the quality of the blend and performance as well. Night and seductive fragrance with lovely modern iris and sweet-gourmand notes, I think this is truly irresistible one! The bottle is real class in reality! By the way, there is a fragrance by Swiss Arabian - "Cupid" - it got similar vibe to this new DG ;)Maybe Cupid is right between The Only One and Black Opium.

Bought this after hearing YouTuber KathleenLights rave about it. This was my first "real" perfume that I bought, and it smells amazing. It is enough for you and nearby people to smell it, but it isn't so overpowering to bother others (IMO). My brother is sensitive to scents and he mentioned that this one does not bother him. I finished the gift set I bought in about 2 years. I went on to buy a different perfume to try something new, but ultimately, I wised that I bought another bottle of D&G's The Only One. Would definitely buy another bottle (unless someone has a more budget friendly dupe).

I’m absolutely in love with this scent. First, I was too careful, because I tried it on a paper strip in the store and I did not understand it fully. When I finally bought it, I couldn’t be happier! I’m relatively new to perfumes, so I cannot write about notes, dry down and etc in the way that other users here do. But anyway, it may seem a bit heavy when you try it out in store, but when you actually wear it, it’s perfect. And lasts very long for me! Even in The end of day, I can still smell the pulses of it from time to time, and it always makes me feel like the life is worth it.

I like the fact that this is multifaceted and all at once. I appreciate the complexity of all the notes harmonizing together to create one very beautiful and kinda delicious smelling without being a too gourmand sort of scent. I get the florals particularly the violet combined with the sweet caramel and decadent coffee and it is similar to black opium but much more interesting and yes this one sits close. Not a skin scent but maybe projects 1 foot. It is one that would be nice for an intimate date or if you want to smell your perfume but don’t want to choke out the room!

I think my opinion on this perfume differs from the majority here. I absolutely love it! But I can't wear it during the cold weather. In the summer, this was my go to scent when going out at night. It was a super sweet caramel with some nice floral notes. I only did 1-2 sprays due to the heaviness of the perfume, and I got many compliments. Now that it is cooling off a bit, I find myself grabbing it less. It's still nice, but smells like a generic perfume, or walking into a department store. I can barely smell any caramel. I'm excited to pull this back out next summer.

It is my signature scent and I love love it as a gourmand lover this is just perfect you get vanilla and caramel with a hint if coffee it is sweet and elegant at the same time, the performance isnt that great unless you overspray which is disappointing knowing how expensive it is for a designer but still a no brainer repurchase but you do have to overspray this one (and this is coming from someone who HATES to overspray) and to layer it or you will need someone to sniff you to be able to smell you but still really great scent and super underrated in my opinion!

I loved loved loved this perfume. It smell very sweet but without the headache feeling. I’m not sure from what ingredients, maybe Irish? Anyway, it made me feel very calm, happy, classy and sexy a bit. I used to wear it while I was pregnant my daughter and almost finished the 100 ml bottle !! maybe because of the hormones at the time I was really obsessed with it. But after I gave birth I just stopped using that because I thought it too strong for my baby. Now, I don’t use it anymore just want to smell like something else beside the rich coffee and caramel 😆

I adore it - in winter and late fall, it smells horrible in spring and summer. It's all I need in cold months - tasty, sweet with caramel, warm and cozy. Perfect sweater smell for me. Lasts nicely few hours and silage is good enough. Coffee gives nice twist, making it not clogging. I don't have nor smelled The One, therefore cannot really compare, but this one is one of my favorite winter smells so far. Price is a bargain for what you get. I don't get why people call it boring, but again - I guess it's all about the body chemistry.

A very pretty and classy floral fruity gourmand that smells perfumey rather than edible. The caramel, pear, violet, iris and coffee really stand out to me and the patchouli plays a soft and well-rounded supporting role. I would say, however, the "caramel" note to me is more like caramelised sugar rather than a true caramel but it fits the whole profile beautifully. I consider this perfume my signature as it is truly one of my all-time favourites and suits just about every occasion - I love that I can dress it up or down as needed.

I have the pre- reformulation version and it is, in fact, a caramel coffee violet pear and vanilla gourmand. I don't see the resemblance to Black Opium but I love to layer it with Black Opium le Parfum. It also goes very well with Cheirosa 59 and Vanilla Candy Rock by Kayali. I am not interested in the new formulation, as it is too floral. When my bottle will be empty, I will buy a dupe of the old version, maybe an oil one, perfect for layering. It is very good., has a good performance and leaves a beautiful sugary scent trail.

This smells nothing like Black Opium. I strongly dislike the sweetness of Black Opium, and love the opening of The Only One. I only wear this perfume during autumn and winter for specific business occasions when I have to work in close proximity to a large number of people and I want to smell myself more than people around me. This can be an overwhelming scent, but I like it so much that I think of it as my shield. It's cozy, velvety, sweet, gourmand, and it's long-lasting on skin (about 7 hours) and eternal on clothes.

LOVE in a bottle! It's rich, creamy, sugary and so intoxicating! I fell in in love when I first sniffed it. In the opening it is floral with a gourmand touch. But the real magic starts when it dries down and the coffee note start to bloom. The smell is very unique and I haven't found any clone of it till now. It is a complex perfume and not everyone's cup of tea. It makes me remind of a bold intimidating woman in black. The longevity is 7-8 hours on clothes and silage is moderate. Overall, 8/10

i fell in love with this. i graduated from lolita lempicka's sweet and when i sprayed the only one for the first time, it reminded me of LL's sweet. after a split second, though, it becomes distinctive, different from sweet's playful sweetness, this one is more mature, settled, warm. it's super ladylike. it reminds me of autumn red lipstick, fall, and, of course, coffee. i love love love it. i tried a lot of other perfumes, but i cannot bear not to purchase this one. totally a gem.

This is a cozy caramel-coffee scent, best to be worn in cold weather, it's so sexy, yummy and warm. There is only one note that bothers me sometimes, taking away the sweetness: I don't know how, but I smell salt, like in those sweets with salted caramel. Anyway, for me it is a wonderful, long lasting winter time fragrance, but somehow I'm still living on samples. I love the bottle, too, it really reflects what you are getting from the juice inside.

I bought a 1oz bottle of this My goodness... I’m going to have to get a full bottle! It’s a delicious caramel decadent rich coffee but still has enough florals so it smells perfumy which is the perfect gourmand to me. It isnt straight up a caramel desert or a cup of coffee. It’s such a rich gorgeous scent and even though it’s April and I’m in south Florida, i work in a cold office so i will wear this whenever i want!! Today was the day!

it's more powdery, less coffee version of Black Opium, and of course far less projecting. I don't find it sexy, for me it is very cosy perfume. The longetivity is not that great, maybe because I just got it a few days ago, maybe it will be better with time. But what I have discovered, this one smells EXTREMELY similar to Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mist Dream of Glamour (the one in the tall purple bottle), which I had since 2015 😳

This is a really nice and well balanced scent. It is sweet, but it isn’t overly sweet because it also have a clean sort of powdery and warm smell. It is also smooth and creamy. Sugared violet is definitely the dominant smell on me, but I als get the caramel and coffee. I am still going through my travel size bottle, but I definitely think I’ll be getting a full sized bottle.

I don’t mean to sound redundant but one more favorable review won’t hurt. This is how gourmands should be done. It’s not literal but gives the vibe of a decadent piece of caramel and jammy rose. Perfect cold weather scent but I’m not opposed to wearing it all year round. The compliments roll in whenever I wear it. It’s one I’ll always have!

Oh man, this is one of my all-time fave perfumes. The vanilla in this one is just spot-on, you know? It's not too overpowering, just right. And it's definitely not gonna offend anyone's nose. Wearing this perfume just puts you in a happy, cozy mood. It's like you just wanna give your "SO" a big hug so they can smell how awesome you are too.

Smells similar to curious in control, very deep, dark, very sweet smell...mysterious, cozy and comforting. It's intoxicating and addicting. But I prefer this over curious in control because in control is headache inducing due to It's strength and loud aroma. The only one is soft and comforting...perfect during fall and winter! I love it!

This is the cleaner, polished black opium. I smelled them side by side. The only one doesn't have that skanky dryer sheet smell. You know those downy beads and shit people use? The only one lacks that cheap note and there is literally nothing l can say is wrong with it for anyone. Other people have to notice this. I can't be the only one

Okay so what kind of sorcery is this ? Cause i first smelled it on my friend some years ago and i couldn't get this out of my head, so i decided to buy a 50mL, and i'm so in love i only wear it now that's crazy. This is THE feminine scent. If you want to smell like a confident, empowering, sweet woman, you must buy this perfume.

Loving this!! Only notes I’m getting Vanille,coffee,patchouli,bergamot and a touch of caramel. Everything perfectly blended. I know this gets compared.black Opium but in my opinion this is sooooo much better!! Longevity and sillage are both moderate to long lasting.....this one is forever in my perfume rotation and collection🤎

This is my favorite fragrance from Dolce&Gabbana. It is absolutely intoxicating and a huge compliment getter. But use wisely. I had women's husbands approach me over this perfume. Make good choices. Don't help a man wreck his own home. Once you stop wearing this perfume, he'll go on to the next beau. It's NEVER worth it.

I really enjoy this. It's strong, and lasts. It really smells like a very sweet specialty coffee. I've had comments like "wow, what ever candle you have going is nice", and "ooo I can smell you coffee it smells good!" haha. So maybe it's not really a "perfume" type scent, but it is fun and enjoyable to me.

This scent holds a sentimental value to me and it has a special place in my heart. This is the first perfume my now husband gifted me. He also makes sure I never run out of it. It is one of his favorite scents I have. I wore it on my wedding day layered with the wedding silk santal. I adore it

This is SO good! The pear here is really well done, feels juicy, real. I also love the iris/caramel combo. I think it prevents the scent from being too sickly sweet and cloying, making it sophisticated instead. Projection and lasting power are both really impressive for a designer fragrance!

Loved it since they sprayed it on my hand and its particles filled the air near me. It is very sweet in a sophisticated way, not a childish way. I do not get the similarity claimed with Black Opium. You can’t feel the coffee in this one (fortunately, since I don’t like it in fragrances).

This is just so gorgeous! I blind bought it because I adore The One and was hoping I'd love this one too, and I can tell that I'm going to wear this cozy, intoxicating scent all winter long. I've got hundreds of perfumes but this is all I want to smell like. A definite win for me.

Delicious rich and warm scent. I get a burst of caramel and coffee mixed with vanilla when I first spray it. The dry down this becomes more subtle but I still get a hint of coffee, along with the rich vanilla and feminine patchouli. I like this one for winter or the cooler months.

Sexy and sophisticated at the same time. Very sweet candied violets with boozy orange, a bit bitter which gives it character. .. heavy patchouli but I do love it, since on my skin this type of patchouli turns into a dark chocolate kind of smell. Very sexy. 10/10 on skin. ☺️

I really enjoy this scent for the winter season, but I believe others love it all year round. It has a powdery iris note combined with the warmth of coffee and vanilla. It doesn't feel juvenile to me. It evokes the feeling of being out late at a jazz club on a winter night.

I bought this a few years ago without smelling it before, and I don't regret it even a little bit. I am now at my 3rd bottle. Lasts a long time, smells similar to black opium probably because of the coffee note, but I find it more elegant. One of my favorites for sure

This is my all-time fav gourmand!! I love iris and violets, this one opens up with the pear and develops into a very sophisticated caramel, coffee with a hint of iris that makes it a bit more elevated and not too sweet. Long lasting will keep repurchasing forever.

Was looking to add a vanilla to my fragrances having only Kayali 28 that I love. Went on the hunt and this was the winner. Lovely vanilla, nothing burnt or spicy, touch of caramel, even less of violet but it is there balancing the sweetness of the sugary scents.
