Velvet Crystal Smoke

This could be a signature scent. It retails at too high of a price, but if you can ever find it at 150 or less I think it’s an excellent buy. My wife loved this in the NYC DG store so much she insisted I purchase it. So... I paid full retail. She absolutely loves it every time I wear it. It comes across a bit like licorice, and apparently that’s sexy. If I was at the store by myself I wouldn’t have bought it, but it is very good, and quite unique in my collection.

I absolutely loooooove it. Will purchase a bottle for myself. Its absolutely beautiful metallic scent.

My review from 2 weeks ago on another well known perfume site: Not a replacement of Velvet Incenso I went to the Faubourg Saint Honore's store in order to try Velvet Infusion and smell Velvet Incenso again. The sales associate told me that the Incenso was going to be discontinued and replaced by Crystal Smoke, which was already available (maybe only for tests) and let me try on paper to see how it would evolve. Right from the start you have a sweet incense and a massive fresh spice that will hit you, the star anis is clearly the star of the show, to a point where through the whole lifespan of the scent it will be noticeable. The opening is really nice however quiet different from Velvet Incenso which was more of a serious and dryer oriental take on incense and I do not see this one being a real replacement. Furthermore the more we would approach the dry down the more a fishy smell would appear which was in the end really strong and off putting unfortunately. By looking at the note breakdown I can imagine that this is the ambergris/mineral notes together mixed with the star anis that gave me this effect. Overall I really enjoyed the opening and mid however the dry down was really not for me. I will try to go back to this scent in the future once my brain has fully treated this information as I may have a different feeling about it.
