Velvet Oriental Musk

Just purchased this today after sampling at Saks. Really love it. It’s unique but very wearable. It isn’t anything groundbreaking but is beautiful. It doesn’t remind me of anything that I can think of. This, Velvet Desert Oud, Velvet Incenso, and Velvet Bergamot are my favorites from this line.

Has some BR540 vibe but more intense - it’s the saffron, Tonka and Ambroxan! Also resembles Arabians Tonka somewhat ( Montale). A friend owns it from 2019. Can’t find it anywhere probably discontinued:(

This scent is very beautiful. All the notes combined give a bit of a maraschino cherry vibe that have been dipped into a Middle Eastern Elixer. I am very happy to have this scent in my collection.

A milky, creamy, niche version of La Nuit de L'Homme. A sensual, addictive scent. Performance is left to be desired. It's below average.

Amazing perfume! Sweet, woody, slightly spicy. Such an elegant aroma, very classy and sophisticated!

Lightly spicy roses settles into a slightly creamy and musky sandalwood. Very warm and leans slightly sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. It's quite strong on me, but I think most saffron scents tend to project heavily off my skin. Autumn & winter, potentially spring, no other feasible season to wear this.

I read a previous review about 3 sprays being too much so I only sprayed the 3 max vs my usual 5 spray test. It's been 20 minutes, so here are my very early impressions: - Saffron, rose, sandalwood, and musk are the predominant scents so far. - A bit on the powdery side. - Opening was a bit overpowering and honestly a bit sickening, but 10 minutes later it has tapered off and is not as bad. - The floral notes are nice, but I'd like some more balance with the earthiness. It's definitely a fall scent, and definitely a night-time scent, but not really a date scent for most people. Go light on the trigger on this. This is best as a subtle scent as anything north of 3 can be very offensive to others. Definitely not a re-buy, especially for the price.

I have the Marshall’s / TJMaxx dupe for this. Insanely strong opening but it does last long.

#716 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this in a sample vial. At first I really liked the woody-musky scent, and I thought, "this is criminally underrated." And as I searched for it online I became bummed it had disappeared from the market. But I soon realized this is barely any different from the Velvet Blue version that's still available, so I felt better. But I later realized this is a skin scent in under an hour and not much of that in two, which is what I would expect if it were a really cheap scent. But I see the Velvet Blue goes for $300+. That's just nuts. The thing is once you blow it like they did on the potency of this scent you can't go back and undo the mistake because the damage is done. So no point to bring it back. Especially since they still have the almost identical Velvet Blue still out there. This note combination is a good one if a producer didn't go cheap on the oils as D&G clearly did with this. So I'd like to see someone try again with a reformulation closer to the top end of EDP potency, preferably an extrait, which we all know would only increase the production cost by about $2 a bottle. That said, this is not very different from Prada Amber Pour Homme and Amber Pour Homme Intense which I already have on the shelf. And to be honest, while I'm not that happy with the potency of any of the Prada men's fragrances, I'm a lot happier about paying $99 for the Prada Amber Intense than I would be about paying $300+ for this weak D&G scent.

Purchased a sample vial off of FragranceNet. Gag. This one is definitely not for me, put on 3 sprays, one on each arm and one on my chest and it was waaaaaaaay too much. Not a fan of the powder and the rose, I like it in small amounts but it’s just waaaaaay too overbearing here. Definitely a very unisex fragrance. Not for me. 2/10

Wow this smells so damn good, I must have it. Very hard to come by though but they recently brought it back! Problem is though it’s not the most projecting scent. You spray it and you’re hit with a wonderful smell that almost overpowers you, then it settles in nicely but within an hour it’s so close to the skin but lasts well on clothes. I confirmed that their new perfume blue musk is a relaunch of this and it’s tempting me to buy it just because I adore the smell, hopefully the performance on the new one is a little better. Does share some similarities to Gris Charnel which I also love and own a bottle of, but this is still very different. I tested both side by side and they are by no means dupes of each other.

Snagged a bottle cheap via Saks off 5th, so it’s not a total loss. It’s rather tame and nondescript considering the spicy notes it’s purported to contain. I get a modern ambrox skin musk with a slightly rosy note - maybe a touch of cypriol and sandalwood. It’s very soft and inoffensive, but nothing that really stands out or sets it apart from other generic modern musks. This is NOT a typical strong and clean middle eastern white musk nor is remotely animalic. It just does its thing quietly and makes for a good office/work scent. Overall, it’s okay.

Imo this is classy and sophisticated... I will say, that this is very much In line with a proper Arabian Attar type musk fragrance. This is definitely a type fragrance, that one would smell In the middle east. On a cool or cold day, especially evenings, this stuff is phenomenal. A great buy, and I would say, that even though is unisex, it does lean more masculine to me.

This is a really addictive fragrance. It has a creamy texture that is hard to describe. It smells almost exactly like something I've smelled before but I can't for the life of me remember what it is/was. Possibly something from Guerlain. It's for sure nothing from the "reminds me of" section above. Any ideas?

This perfume is amazing! To me, it smelled like sweetened milk. Like condensed milk. It’s nothing ground breaking, but very warm and welcoming. Very easy to wear, and more of a feminine scent. Great as a scent for intimate events.

After the home run of Velvet Incenso, I’m definitely going to have to get my nose of this, love the bottles on these, keep the new Velvet line releases coming...

I’m having a hard time finding this on my skin. Have to really sniff for it. Pleasant enough but I can’t imagine buying more than the sample. Just too faint

Heard this collection is being discontinued soon so whoever loves this line should pick up a few more bottles
