Velvet Patchouli

Loving this velvet line at the moment. Like Armani Privé line, there is hardly any single scent considered as a failure. Though Velvet Patchouli is the first one in this line doesn’t fit the theme “velvet”. It’s very airy and abstract. Hardly can detect it. But it must linger in there as you can get it from time to time when you are paying least attention to it. Although the fact that they share different notes, I found it provides the same effect as Jo Malone’s Oud & Bergamot. Must be the airy vibe aforementioned. Both elegant and classy. If finding the asking price of velvet patchouli unworthy or out of budget, I’d recommend to try Oud & Bergamot.

Dolce&Gabbana Velvet Black Patchouli created in 2011 by Rodrigo Flores-Roux. Glorious, intoxicating hymn to the East, a kaleidoscopic and mysterious, complex composition that magically mixes with rich notes of Tarocco orange, Patchouli oil and Cistus absolute: an attractive and enigmatic fragrance that evokes the magnificence of Sicilian culture. A fragrance that asserts itself decisively, a fresh patchouli immersed in Mediterranean notes of great charm.

I absolutely love this one. Most department store "patchoulis" Tom Ford White Patchouli, I am looking at you, make me sick, but this is smooth and gorgeous, and doesn't smell either Old Spice cologne or dirty hippie. Really rich and beautiful, and would be great on a man or a woman.

It has that kind of depth and richness of those musk or amber scents, but meanwhile very unique thanks to the kephalis and patchouli combo. I can also detect a hint of licorice, which is compelling due to its strange gourmand accord.

I think it's brilliant. It smells clean and sexy. It definitely lasts long. However, it's quite expensive. If you really like subtile, elegant patchouli and willing to pay, then get this one.

D&G Velvet Patchouli opens up straight patchouli as advertised. Crazy, I know, right? Similar to a patchouli essential oil you'd find at any natural wellness store or market. After a few hours, it transitions into a distinct, dark, freshly polished wood, with the patchouli becoming less present, yet never fading completely. The imagery in my head is the inside of a dim-lit church-- With shiny, recently polished walnut wood pews. Velvet curtains would have been a nice imagery touch, but I wouldn't go as far as to call this "velvet," as the name suggests. While smooth, this does wear more transparent, subtle, and airy vs. heavy, fuzzy, rich, and cakey-- as something like Jovoy Psychedelique or Francesca Bianchi Sticky Fingers. Patchouli is my favorite fragrance note. D&G Velvet Patchouli is fine. However, if you're looking to compete with other designers' patchouli fragrances in their private/premiere collections, as D&G is attempting here, this does fall short of something like Coromandel. Bonus points for the beautiful presentation and black velvet box it comes in, though. Recommended, but with the caveat that there are better luxury-priced patchouli options. Rating 7/10

A patchouli-green, ambery smell. If you've smelled any other patchouli-themed perfume, then you have an idea about this. In all honesty, nothing special. I expected much more. The sillage is actually poor. It's a scent skin within an hour of application & doesn't last 5 hours. The only consolation is that the smell is actually nice, even though it isn't something new. I need to try 1-2 more from the velvet collection before I write it off completely.

The first spray remind me something that i ever tried before. Yes it's Chanel Coromandel !!! but this is the weaker version with patchouli as the star ingredient that make this perfume so bold. To be honest I still prefer Chanel Coromandel since its giving fuller experience with stronger base notes.

Velvet patchouli in name and performance. The perfume starts with a wild patchouli and pungent amber with hint of musk. After a while a balsamic patchouli with amber start to show in harmony. As it settles down, it coats as fine warm royal leathery patchouli which gives compliments and individual feeling especially in cool nights .

Smells metallic... not impressed

Farklı zamanlarda, farklı şekillerde denedim. Ancak sonuç değişmedi. Oldukça şık bir kutu, başarılı bir şişe ve sunum ile satışa çıkan VP maalesef bugüne kadar satın aldığım en kötü kokular sıralamasında kendine sağlam bir yer buldu. Biliyorum beğeniler tartışılmaz, belki beğenenler olmuştur. Ancak böylesi fiyat ve sunumla satılan parfümlerin en azından özgün bir yanı olmalı. Beğenmedim ve hiçbir özel, özgün yanı da yok. Koku bir değişim göstermiyor ve yumuşak bir tarafı yok. Aksine zaman içinde sertleşiyor ve düz bir çizgide gidiyor. Söylediğim gibi bugüne kadar aldığım en başarısız parfümlerden birisi.

For the first time i have to use the word "worst" for an perfume. Nothing special.. Only a nice box and design. I'm really very sorry for myself for paying such an amount for this. Yes, this is the worst perfume i ever paid such an amount. Stay away.

So it is just a sweet patchouli...and that is where it remained...quite flat and uninteresting.

Dear K1, it's 120£ for 50ml. Sold exclusively in Harrods. That one is interesting but unreasonably overpriced. It starts with a huge patchouli and it dries down to vetiver and star anise base. The Prive Armani collection is far more interesting.

Elegant and smooth, but not exceptional. Maybe it's the best one in the entire line (I've tried them all). Nice presentation, but overpriced collection (around 200€ for 50 ml. Lafayette Galeries), so I don't think it will interest a huge public.

The smell is fantastic and smooth patchouli but unfortunately very poor performance. Very poor, and I typically get some amazing performance even from cheap cheap fragrances. Lasted 4 hours when I can get 12 from almost any 10$ fragrance

This scent is amazing- somehow I smell Patchouli AND dark chocolate on me. I am too selfish to put it anywhere else other than my wrist and neck - just so I can smell it, and no one else!

My husband got it, I love it on him, but even better on myself :-), subtle, sensual and luxurious. I am normally a floral/citrus girl but for some lovely reason I love this fragrance.

test phase yet Edit: The bad scent i have tried patchouli themes. Dirty, boring, disgusting patchouli. I'm sorry. Scent: 5/10 Long: 10/10 Sillage: 9/10
