Price & Value: There’s no denying that the price point is on the higher end. That said, the quality fully justifies the cost. This is a premium composition that feels intentional, refined, and well-executed from start to finish. Scent Quality & Composition The ingredient quality is immediately noticeable. High-end materials are used, most notably Greek saffron, which opens the fragrance with a smooth, spicy-sweet. The opening is refined and well-rounded no harsh edges, just a polished saffron presence. As the fragrance develops, it transitions quickly into a rich tobacco leaf and cherry tobacco accord. At this stage, the scent becomes noticeably syrupy and warm as amber begins to emerge, adding depth and sweetness without becoming cloying. The dry-down leans more tobacco-forward with soft vanilla nuances. The saffron fades slightly but remains detectable in the background, adding a subtle spicy glow that keeps the scent cohesive and elegant. Comparisons & DNA As a dedicated tobacco fragrance enthusiast and collector, it’s difficult to compare this directly to a single scent. However, it clearly shares a strong PDM Herod-style sweet tobacco DNA, complemented by a faint hint of Initio Side Effect. The syrupy, ambered sweetness strongly recalls Issey Miyake Noir Ambre. Overall, I’d estimate this composition to be around 50–60% Herod alike, but darker, more mature, and more refined. Performance & Compliment Factor This fragrance truly shines in date nights and evening wear. It projects really strong and confidently without being overwhelming and has proven to be a genuine compliment magnet. It is especially well received by women. It lasted more than 7 Hours on my skin, and a whole day on clothes. Is it worth the $250+ price tag? For me, absolutely. The quality, performance, and overall experience justify the investment. This release has left me eager to explore more from the line, particularly Desert Oud and Amber Sun. Well done to DG, this is a brilliant creation. It has earned a place in my top 3 fragrances of all time, and the experience it delivers is nothing short of phenomenal. 10/10 (Never gave a fragrance this rating ever)

Saffron, tobacco, and vanilla. It's an original scent, but somehow reminds me of fragrances that have aspects of the notes in this fragrance, giving the impression that's it's not an original scent. The saffron is similar to what you'd find in BR540; the tobacco is a sweet and synthetic cherry tobacco, much like you'd find in Dior Tobacolor or BR Tobacco & Tonka Bean. It's a nice, somewhat boozy, somewhat gourmand, cherry tobacco kind of scent. Certainly is beautiful, but for the price, it's not unique enough to pull the trigger on buying. I'd pick it up for 100 bucks or less of it shows up at the discounters, and something tells me that it probably will within a year or so.

What I love most about Velvet Zafferano is how unique it feels. It has this beautiful soft suede and refined leathery warmth that comes across as both comforting and luxurious at the same time. It’s slightly sweet, but very balanced, smooth, and elegant. To me, this is a truly unisex fragrance, but not one that just anyone can wear — it really needs a certain personality and presence to be carried well. It shines the most in cool weather and evenings, where its richness feels especially beautiful. For me, this is the kind of scent that not everyone will understand — and that’s exactly what makes it special.

This is my first time making a post on here, but this fragrance is so amazing, it’s dark, it’s sexy, perfect for date night. On me, It pulls very leathery. It has a lot of saffron and there is a hint of sweetness from the vanilla, like wisps of it. I pair this with a very nice vanilla, sweet body oil, but it doesn’t have to be paired with anything. It’s absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend it. I ended up catching it on sale, but it’s definitely worth it in my opinion. I would consider this unisex

You can get this and others from the velvet line on huge discounts at the moment... The saffron and tobacco in this are almost fizzy yet very refined. In my opinion, one of the rare occasions where you can distinguish the quality of ingredients from other similar offerings. Fairly linear throughout offering with 8hrs of longevity and shares characteristics with both side effect and babycat. Not to mention it is overall actually quite unique in a saturated market.

This is magically delicious. Literally smells like an expensive velvet robe, super nice. Honestly, if you’ve ever smelled shades of seduction by Galleria perfumes, it has a similar cozy, feeling but much more depth and tobacco. Great staying power, lasts through a shower. Multiple compliments on the first day I wore it, and it hasn’t even macerated yet. It’s going to be a staple for fall and winter this year.

This fragrance I couldnt stop smelling- and thats a rarity. If my man wears this I will be all over him. lol! on my skin tobacco didnt show up at all which was a relief because then i was left with its saffron rich elegant composition. The drydown smells very elegant with amber dominance. It definitely smells rich middle eastern. I only got touch of smokiness in drydown not tobacco dominance.

Got this today, and I will say, this is without question in the vein of Issy Miyaki Noir Ambre, with the addition of Tobacco. If I didn't own a few bottles of Noir Ambre, I'd go out and purchase a full bottle of this, as it's amazing. Performance and projection is above average, and I would say it leans more male than unisex. 9 out of 10

Very underrated. The Dolce Gabbana private line is not well known but this would get hyped up if it was. Beautifully simple, elegant, and high-quality scent. It smells a bit like cherry and tobacco with a slightly boozy opening. Pretty linear but does not feel cheap. Imagine the one edp but niche. Kinda ambery and warm

One of the most underrated perfumes ever. This is definitely the best of D&G Velvet collection. When i visited the boutiques with different friends in different days. All of them agreed that it’s better than the famous one (Velvet Oud) !!

Just an amazing fragrance. The Saffron is strong on this one, so if you don't like it, stay away. I don't get the tobacco note at all. If anything, this is like a fruity, sugary drink. The sweetness is noticable. I love this one.

This is the saffron fragrance I’ve been looking for for a long time. Superb execution. Wet tobacco is also a big player and adds smoothness to the saffron. I can see the comparison to Side Effect, but they are not clones.

Smells like wealth. I love this. Masculine leaning. I had a sample and I sprayed around my office. First it was all saffron and after a moment, it gave off tobacco, a totally different persona. Love!

Such a stunning perfume. Different than Teriaq Intense, or Delphinus from Creed, but could be a close family member to both of them. Sweet, Amber, suede leather vibe. Love it! 😍🥰

I blind bought this and wasn't disappointed. If there was one word to describe this fragrance it is "opulent". It smells rich & luxurious. I smelled plenty of other designer fragrance houses like LV and none of them smell this expensive. It's a blast of saffron covered in amber with hints of tobacco, vanilla & some leather. I'm usually not a big fan of amber fragrances because they come off feminine & cloying but this smells very masculine. Great for colder weather.

It’s a nice, smooth tobacco/vanilla/tonka vibe. I feel this genre has replaced the previous ‘oud’ trend that was rampant the past few years. Although this DNA is being pumped out by seemingly every brand out there, I’d say this is one of the better ones in the category. Never gets too sweet or cloying, and sits rather close and subdued

Sweet and syrupy tobacco. Leathery with sweetness. Masculine. The saffron is weak on my skin. I can see why people think this is amazing. It reminds me of Tom Ford fragrances, or what I wish some of their scents smelled like. Velvet Zafferano is well made, but I only like it after the dry-down later in the day. It becomes softer and less leathery.

Let me save you all the poetry below me. The first smells to me like a small overheated electric engine, the type you find in kids slot car toys. More like something you would find as a small part of a base in niche leather fragrances. potentially very offensive. It finishes smelling like a smouldering chestnut tobacco fragrance in the style of Dior Bois Talisman and becomes muntely wearable though mostly remains a niche-level stink bomb

I was kindly gifted this bottle as a surprise gift from a friend so thanks to them for that. Now for some thoughts... Im surprised that some people don't see the side effect comparisons, because for me they are definitely there. Which means that Dolce and Gabbana have what could be as far as im concerned to flankers to Side Effect, with this and Luminous Night. Or hell maybe actually 3, if you count the special edition of this, which although generally the same has a slightly different note break down and smells slightly different apparently from reviews. However I will say compared to side effect which I find more linear I find that this fragrance for me on wearing does go through different stages. At first you get a much more pronounced saffron note than you do in Side Effect, to the point its fairly leathery.. Almost like a strong leather, with some fruity nuances. However it still is giving me a sorta Side Effect vibe. Its much more smokey than Side Effect as well.. To the point that I would say at first this seems pretty vibish to me. And I could see this perhaps being a bit much and to dark for people at first in terms of wearability. However as this fragrance transitions the Tobacco comes out more, as well as the Vanilla. You start to get a more creamy aspect to this fragrance as these 2 become more prominent as the saffron is fading away. Finally once you get to the dry down you get a syurpy, rich, gourmand sorta feel with the Amber, Labdanum, Patchouli , Vanilla, with just a bit of that fruity tobacco smell slightly still lingering. But its deff more yummy and snuggly to me. Maybe ill have to do a review comparing the 3, but again personally I do think this could be a side effect flanker as I can smell it for the first few hours of this fragrance. But again to me this isnt as linear as side effect.

Wow. Its nothing new but wow. It took 5 months of maturation period to attain its full glory. There is a review here by Scent_Sniffer69 dated 12/23/25. I wouldnt be able to give a better review and its exactly the way he described it. I have atleast 20 tobacco pefumes. Some with vanilla or honey and some with spice and leather. This is even better than initio side effect which to me is weak. Beware people who are in to freshies or florals. This is cosily dark, soft but dense, sublimly mellow like a warm mellow whisky(just a metaphor. theres no whisky in this). To me it feels like a soft sensual woman whom u would just love to cuddle in a cold fall or winter evening and sit for hours. Performance wise its a mighty beast with soft demure. Its a room filler if oversprated. Its perfect for people who are naturally romantics.

Let me tell you using an example about how seductively amazing this scent is. I wore her on a snowboarding trip a few days ago and my hostel mate who initially complimented me on my scent said he literally found me on the slopes by just following my scent because he could smell it from the top ! I kid you not!!!! That was the best compliment anyone could ever give me!!!!!! *true story Saffron is the star of this fragrance. The tobacco is beautifully blended and not overpowering . Definitely sexy date night scent.

This is a more tobacco-punchy Initio Narcotic Delight. It is the more dark, rich big brother with a leathery-saffron and chocolatey-patchouli backbone. Similar dna's, in which I actually prefer the playful-cherry and boozy Narcotic Delight more. It's just more my style, but to each their own; VZ is still mass appealing, esp during the winter time.

Can you guys help me out. I have the D&G Zafferano, it's one of my favorite fragrances. However, it does not seem to have any longevity or sillage. I am a little confused as most reviews praise the strength of this perfume. What could be the issue? I purchased my bottle from Sephora, so it's definitely authentic.

Overwhelmingly synthetic for me, though some will appreciate this and interpret it as a"beast-mode" fragrance. Not as smooth as the other offerings in The Velvet line. Nonetheless, its nice and elevates the ever popular sweet and spicy (Side Effect) scent profile.

Spicy, Warm, sweeten suede scent. Pricey but very well blended. I don't find it similar to Side Effect. It's a lot closer to Noire Ambre. I bought mine at Jomashop.

This is a very nice creamy-amber-tobacco-caramel-incense kind of scent. I think the dry down is a bit cloying/synthetic feeling but the opening is gorgeous

This dries down to smell similar to Valentino Uomo intense. A bit too expensive for what it does imo.

My GOSH I really love this. mmmmm
