Cashmere Mist EDP

Cashmere Mist isn’t a scent; it’s a vibe. this is SO comfortable and warm. it smells like laundry — but in a nice, clean, old-fashioned way, not in a “candy bug-spray” way. if my neighbors’ laundry soap smelled like this, i’d complain a lot less. at first, there is a hint of something like melon or bubblegum, but it stays just out of reach, which is just as well, as i don’t like sweet perfumes and a true melon note would likely be a deal-breaker. i think this phase has something to do with the way the bergamot reacts with the slightly sweet vanilla. there’s also an opening funkiness which i think is the suede figuring itself out. this is definitely one of those perfumes which takes an hour or two to come together and reveal its true glory. but it’s also one of the ones which is most certainly worth waiting for. when the suede and vanilla finally get comfortable with the powdery jasmine and lily of the valley, and the sweetness mellows into just a touch of honey, it’s all plush gold velvet and cream-colored fleece which keeps getting better until you’re left with morning-after pillow magic. <3 musical accompaniment: Lotte Kestner’s cover of Damien Jurado’s “The Falling Snow” /current edp

This was my grandmother's perfume. I had a sample of this and loved it, couldn't figure out why it seemed so familiar. When she died and we moved my grandpa to a smaller place, I found it in her things, and I almost cried. When he died, I took her nearly-empty bottle. Last week, I found a half-used bottle for 95 cents at a thrift store, and had to buy it. Smelling it now smells like giving her a hug again. I also really love the scent, even without the memories. Some might say it's "mature", but I really don't think that should be a negative when describing perfumes. It is very powdery to me, and quite musky, though definitely more on the clean side of musk than the animalic side. I get a strong hit of jasmine a couple seconds after spraying, but after that it is predominantly musk, and a little bit of leather. I wish the bergamot was a little stronger in this, I think the bright edge it would bring would be refreshing in what could become an overwhelming fragrance otherwise. I'm so glad to have rediscovered this fragrance again, and to relive the happy memories with my grandma that I have from her wearing it. I just know she'd be delighted to know that I love it now, too.

This is lovely. It's very fresh in the opening probably the bergamot. This quickly passes and it becomes all about soft, sueded, white flowers mostly jasmine. I only get a hint of lily-of-the-valley. The base notes smell really clean to me, a cashmere musk, amber, and very subtle vanilla. There is a hum of powdery sandalwood and musk throughout. If you don't like powdery scents, you won't like this, because it's very present. However, this is a beautifully done musk. The musk reminds me a bit of baby products, but in a luxury kind of way, and personally I love it. Cashmere Mist is ladylike, easygoing and timeless. I can wear this anywhere, year-round, and have elevated it to a signature scent or at least to one of them. I know it's an older scent, but that makes it special, because I don't smell myself coming and going. While it's lowkey, it actually has some throw that many of my musk oils lack, and it lasts a decent amount of time. I love the sculptural style bottle too. It can be a little pricy, but not horrible compared to other fragrances on the market. Just a fantastic perfume, subtle and classy. There's a reason it's been around for 30 years. Great Stuff!

I feel like I just fell into a hug. Or a cashmere sweater... :) What a lovely fragrance! If I ever needed a comfort smell, this would be it. The sandalwood is what is coming through the most, mixed with a lovely hint of jasmine, all wrapped up in a soapy-musky ambery-leather mix. The first spray is just warm and delicious and I sense the vanilla, and the drydown holds within it a dusky lime shadow over the amber and sandalwood. The best blind buy I have ever had. Someone below mentioned how this fragrance is definitely oriental, and I wholeheartedly agree. I should think this will be worn at night and during Fall and Winter, but today I will happily wear it (and for hours now, I might note). Absolutely unique and I truly love it! Best sandalwood fragrance so far.

This perfume is such a safe buy, and it’s a plus that they also sell the matching deodorant at Sephora. This fragrance is so beautiful and they’re never getting rid of it. It’s a win - win. I may have Cashmere Mist replace my signature scent. Cashmere mist is so beautiful. It’s sensual, classy, lady-like, and poised. It is a perfume that I feel like Charlotte from SATC would wear or Bree from Desperate Housewives. This perfume screams “I am a put-together housewife!” I love this perfume so much and I don’t think it gets the flowers it deserves. I can’t quite pinpoint the exact notes, but I can say that it smells creamy, clean, ambery, musky, warm, and animalic. It blends with your skin chemistry perfectly to recreate a ‘your skin but better’ kind of vibe.

Wonderful! I've been wearing this fragrance since I was a little girl, upon it's release. My beautiful mother had it. I recently revisited it, and was blown away all over again! The notes intermingle perfectly to satisfy your senses. This fragrance dries down to pure perfection. Just the mere sight of the bottle produces pure nostalgia for me. This perfume will always be in my collection. Edit 5/25: Because this is is so near and dear to my heart--I do the unthinkable with Cashmere Mist. I layer both the EDT and EDP! This fragrance and Elizabeth Taylor's: White Diamonds-- I do this with. The results are breathtaking! The dry down is just so damn aromatic and comforting... This is an elegant winner and a must-have for any serious collector!

Well, here I am. Feeling like I have to say something about this juice. It is freaking loud on first spray. I almost hold my breath until that is over. Unlike other reviewers, I strongly disagree that there are perfumes that are linked to age or gender or status...even though we all have scent memories. What I love about CM is that, as a muguet lover, the interspersed ambroxan with the LOTV really work together in the dry down here to create a smell that, for me, has nothing to do with babies or wipes, but a lot to do with the smell of old teddybears from the local carnival....

I bought and reviewed Cashmere Mist in 2024. Donna Karan reformulated CM around July 2025, and I recently tried the new juice. A slightly lighter formulation, brighter in the opening, CM suffers little from the reformulation. The new version maybe lasts an hour or so less but smells more legible. I smell the lily more clearly, and I find it a little less musky. But, overall, the changes whisper instead of shout, which explains why few complaints exists of tampering. Overall, this reformulation varies just slightly from the original and respectfully updates a classic fragrance.

I’m not going to speak to notes or silage, except to say all of that stuff is excellent, it does everything I hoped it would do performance-wise. I do want to speak to the feeling Cashmere Mist evokes: safe. Not safe as in basic, but it makes me feel safe when I wear it. It’s possible it’s because of life circumstances that led me to feel unsafe, and me buying this when things started to settle down, but it’s also something in the notes that makes me feel grounded, warm, home when I wear this.

I'm getting hypnotic poison vibes. Not that they're super alike, but it has a very sensual vanilla. It smelled like spicy baby powder at first, but it takes me on a ride to a dark room lit with candles where a cool goth chick wearing dark eyeshadow and fishnet sleeves is about to pierce my septum. I get that it's a crowd-pleaser, I'm not sure how, because it smells really interesting and grunge. Maybe they have the edt? Whatever the case, call me a clown because I'm loving this.

From a Male's perspective..... This was/still is my Lover's signature. And let me tell you, everytime she wears it, I want to do baaaad things(in a good way 😈) to her..... Now Cashmere Mist might come across as something an older/mature female would wear. HOWEVER, that suede/musk/sandalwood combo has me "Weak In The Knees"(SWV) everytime she wears it... Date night or a trip to her parents place; I just can't keep my nose, and hands off of her. Now that's just MY opinion.

I have this in both the edp and edt. I really love it. I prefer the edp. Such a comforting scent. It's soft and gentle but also has lasting power to go the distance. It's like being wrapped in a cuddly blanket. I wear it on days that my depression gets the better of me. When I need to surround myself with comfort and kindness. I put this on, get into my favorite pajamas, get a nice cup of herbal tea, curl up in bed and play Stardew Valley with my cats next to me

Perfect blustery day perfume. It's your favorite soft cozy sweater in a bottle. It's a soft perfume that you wear when you want to relax at home with a good book. This is a lady's scent. Not womanly but lady like. It's not going to assault your senses. It's got a quiet beauty. That being said, it's easily unisex. The person who wears this would be a person who doesn't need to be in your face to feel or be sexy. I'm not good with isolating notes at all so ...

Cozy warm cashmere. Wrapped up in a blanket with a good book. Wearing your favorite sweater in the cool crisp air. Reminds me of the 90’s, fuzzy sweaters, and comfort. My mom never wore it, but to this day I will spray the tester if I go by a dept store counter. I think it still has quite a following. It sells out. Everyone knows someone who likes Cashmere Mist. Update: I bought a 1 oz of the edp. Figured it was about time.

I've had a sample of this for 3 years and every once in a while I get it out just to enjoy a spray. It's not my typical fragrance, but it is very good. Warm, sweet, soapy, powdery, clean. Cozy like wearing a soft sweater while sitting by the fire at Christmas time. I really like this fragrance and even though it's not something I would wear daily, it's so nice to enjoy once in a while.

In my mind, the perfect musk aroma is a mixture of a few sensations. It's the coziness of an expensive cashmere wrap and the memory of sensual kiss on the nape of my neck from my love. I only found this type of sentiment in a fragrance once. Donna Karan Cashmere Mist is that musk masterpiece for me. I adore it. I will never be without the perfume and lotion in my collection.

If I really hunt for them, I can pick out the individual notes in this perfume. But the overall scent experience is like smooshing your face into warm sheets pulled straight from the dryer, when you’ve used several dryer sheets so they smell extra clean and fresh. It’s a touch sharp from the lily of the valley, a little soapy, a little powdery, and just a bit sweet.

I love Cashmere Mist. This was one of my signature perfumes. I get so many compliments wearing the perfume. I think your skin and hormones will change way the scent projects, so take negative reviews with a grain of salt, go sample the perfume yourself at the department store. The scent is elegant and great for date nights.

I love Donna karen Cashmere Mist. It has been my signature scent for many years, I have a hard time finding fragrances that are similar or that I fall in love with. I always come back to this one. It is so warm and fresh, soft and intimate, elegant and sexy without being overpowering.

On first spray it smells exactly like Avon’s “Skin So Soft”, which is a very nostalgic and comforting scent for me. Very powdery in a way that most would consider “mature” and drys down to something more ambery and warm. I guess I just like grandma scents, but Idc it’s cozzzy af!

Cashmere Mist is the perfume equivalent of a soft, well worn , roomy sweater on a chilly day. So nice. It's one of the rare musky dominant perfumes I like. I recently bought another bottle. If you don't like slightly soapy musks, you might still like it.

One of my favourite perfumes so unique and oriental. Its a heavy perfume better worn at night. Everything i love about this perfume is the dry down a luxury feminine musk and amber with a tint of leather! Just gorgeous

A cashmere scarf in a bottle: warm, luxurious, and gentle. This fragrance is mostly cottony musk and vanilla on my skin. Great sillage and longevity. Perfect for autumn or cool evenings.

Easy for me to love. I grew up around Jovan White Musk and this is in the same family. Can't go wrong with this type of scent, and Cashmere Mist is one of the best in its class.

Nostalgic scent that reminds me of my college years! Anyone could wear it if they chose to, but definitely more suited for a mature fragrance option. Still enjoy this very much.

Smells like a muskier Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo. I don't consider this a bad thing. Very comforting. If you overspray, it becomes an overwhelming suede scent.

Is it just me, or that perfume smells similar to Godolphin by Parfums De Marly? Just a little sweeter. But I think they are similar. I love both :)

Cashmere Mist by Donna Karan has been a solid staple in my collection over several years. I initially owned this fragrance in the EDT concentration, however, not long after finishing a bottle my partner gifted me the EDP, which I have worn copious amounts of, (almost to the point of draining my treasured bottle). Cashmere Mist is a 'clean' fragrance, a scent resembling freshly washed linens and luxury soap. The suede note adds an interesting facet to this fragrance's composition, however, it doesn't detract from the creamy soap-aroma. I wear Cashmere Mist to the office mostly, as I find it quite suitable for a medical administration type role. It's pleasant, clean, comforting and professional all rolled into one. In addition to its inoffensive nature, Cashmere Mist is suitable for all seasons. I have even worn this fragrance during the heat of Summer without feeling overwhelmed. My partner bought this fragrance for me based upon an article he had read online naming the 'sexiest scents for women'. Honestly, I don't consider Cashmere Mist to be all that sexy, however, I can certainly see how it could be alluring to members of the opposite sex. The Eau de Parfum concentration of Cashmere Mist is excellent in terms of its longevity and projection. I apply this fragrance first thing in the morning and rest assured that it will last throughout my entire workday. There are very few differences between the Eau de Parfum and the Eau de Toilette concentrations. When tested side by side the EDP is slightly more creamy and dense, whereas the EDT is brighter with more of a bergamot citrus opening.

Sometimes I crave a warm, dry scent. Cashmere Mist is one of the only perfumes I came across that fully hits the spot. I really enjoy the “dry” quality of this (I believe this effect is created by the musk, woody notes and the powdery notes). It reminds me a little of the dry note one might find in a dry white wine, or the warm, dry scent from laundry fresh from the dryer. There is nothing juicy in this scent, only warm, crisp dryness. This is my ultimate comfort scent. It is warm and cozy but not cloying and gourmand sweet. One of the aspects I enjoy the most is the lack of a sugary, overwhelming sweetness, which is so prevalent in modern perfumes. This is a true 90’s scent and I love it; it is somewhat nostalgic. This is elegant and sophisticated and very feminine. I reach for this when I want to feel safe, this is like being wrapped in a warm cashmere blanket. It is comforting and cozy but it allows one to experience whatever emotions or thoughts one is having at that moment, it lends a comforting ear without trying to change how one feels. The opening is a bit harsh to me but it settles quickly to the beautiful warm, cozy scent. It is powdery, it is musky and it is woody. The suede lends a slight depth to this, but it does not overtake the warm and powdery aspects of this perfume. I get absolutely no vanilla from this, but I do get a beautiful balance of woody sweetness and woody bitterness. This is a perfume I don’t wear that often, but I don’t ever want to be without it.

I've had my eyes on this perfume for years now. Finally purchased it. I specifically made sure I purchased the EDP versus the EDT. This is a really nice cold weather scent. Clean and warm. First & foremost you'll get the musk & suede combo. Then in the backround I smell the sandalwood, amber, and bergamot. I honestly don't get any of the floral notes whatsoever. Which I'm totally fine with. I definitely recommend this one for fall and winter. It's beautifully clean and musky in the cold weather but the heat amps up the powdery accord and it just doesn't fit well for warm weather. Makes it kind of "stuffy." This one isn't an obsession of mine but it's definitely a strong like. A very likeable, friendly perfume. It's clean, really clean but also a good snuggling perfume. Also...this is a really good perfume to spray on your pillow and I personally spray it all over my couch blankets after I wash them. I must admit for an Eau De Parfum I am slightly underwhelmed by the performance of this but it's most certainly not awful. Longevity - About 4-5 hours on skin...about 12 hours on clothing. Projection - About 3 feet for 2 hours. Then slowly weakens after that. Overall Score - 8/10. I personally prefer "Liquid Cashmere" by Donna but this one is definitely a like in my collection and I reach for it quite often in the cold weather which is like 5 months of the year in Pennsylvania. Thumbs up on this gem! Voted above with a "like."

I agree with evavidal62, this is wonderful without being sexy. It's a heavy warm, sandalwoody, dry (but plush), snuggly scent. Like warm pajamas on the couch. I wore this tonight while watching Harry Potter with my kids and husband, and it couldn't have been a more perfect occasion. They all like it too, which is something I take into consideration. I'm rating this as a winter/night scent, although I think it's great under 50 degrees and doesn't really need a "season". I can absolutely smell the amber, musk and sandalwood strongly. It lasts about 5 or 6 hours, but it has great sillage for the first 2. I do wish it had better longevity because it seems like it would initially, it's so strong at first. I actually don't get much vanilla, which is lovely because (I've mentioned this before) vanilla is currently the "millennial whoop" of perfumery. Seeing as how this is an older frag, I'm refreshed and unsurprised by the absence of heavy vanilla in the drydown. When this settles into a musk it doesn't smell like the next woman down the street and her stale, imitation-vanilla extract scent. What is present only serves to sweeten the musk just a *bit*, but it's scarcely vanillic whatsoever, at least not compared to what's currently saturating the market. I have a sample, and I would consider purchasing if it was reasonably priced. I really like it, and nearly love it, I just wish the longevity was a tad better.

I forgot how much I like this fragrance! I think my mother has owned ~3 bottles of this throughout my lifetime, all in different forms - perhaps she had the EDT at one point, and also a "dupe" of it that I stole from her. This wasn't a perfume she bought for herself, it was usually a gift that I ended up borrowing heavily (because she preferred other perfumes), and I think because it was always a gift that I started to think of it as just an "eh" perfume - one that you don't think much about and just give to people because it's safe. Which that is true, it is safe, but smelling the EDP after a long time brought me such a comforting, soft, warm feeling. A floral musk with all the notes listed softly present, undulating in and out. Bergamot first (burst of freshness), lily of the valley (white crisp innocence), a hint of warm amber, clean sharp sandalwood (like paper and wood shavings), and an abundance of musk. The white musk is composed of all of the above elements, working together to produce something clean, white, and cold but also warming somehow. I'm impressed with Cashmere Mist EDP because for such a clean fragrance it does hang around and softly reminds you that it's there. I might also enjoy it because it reminds me of so many happy times wearing it and smelling pleasant, but I definitely won't write this one off again, particularly this EDP version.

Started wearing this when I wanted a break from the sweet and fruity gourmand frags I normally wear. It's a classic, smells clean but not in a "shampoo, soap, laundry" way. This is a fragrance that is all it's own. Obviously it has stood the test of time, since it was a staple of the 90s and I had never worn it up until recently. I notice men love this scent. They lean in to smell you, because it projects but it isn't overwhelming. It is like wearing perfume without wearing perfume. I could see a man that leans feminine wearing it. You just smell like you are clean, unassuming, approachable and stable. There is a note of a leather purse, papers and books, cashmere and musk. This smells like you have your own office with frosted glass and a large wooden desk. This smells like you only wear mid heels and silver jewelry. A cream colored turtleneck and a cardigan. This is the fragrance of the color beige and light wood. Reading glasses. Proper and nice. A principal or an accountant would wear this. It won't get you noticed, but you will smell really good. Bottle is boring, but I love the antiperspirant layering option. Great fragrance for people who don't want to spend a fortune to smell good but also don't want to fuss with fragrance.

I scored a 1/4 empty bottle of Cashmere Mist from FB marketplace, as it had been on my 'wish list' for many years. Funny, the original topper was replaced with what I think is a topper from a bottle of Vince Camuto, lol (which I also have). Also lots of half used bottles on eBay, go figure. I had a small solid of CM from a GWP years ago, so was surprised that the spray smelled a bit different (well, of course it would). VERY sweet floral topnotes with a bit of tart bergamot at the outset. Then a sweet, soft, slightly soapy, musky drydown with a hint of vanilla. For me, it's a scent that's on the razor's edge of being 'acceptable' vs 'annoying' (i.e., a perfume that gives me a headache, or brings out my gag reflex). It definitely does have that vintage, more 'mature' scent that many 80s/90s scents possessed. I like it, but it won't be one I reach for frequently. Will have to use a light hand with this as well, because it could become a 'scrubber' if oversprayed. Will try to layer it with other scents to see what I can come up with. I give it a 7/10 for now.

A dear friend gave me a miniature of this perfume a few months ago, after I had gifted her a bottle of very gently used Guerlain Insolence. At the time, I felt the hairspray aspect of Insolence was too much but a couple of days ago I ordered a travel spray worth of it to give another chance. We shall see about Insolence but back to the review of Cashmere Mist... I have been in the mood for powdery perfume after wearing White Shoulders (my recently deceased grandmother's favorite) a lot. I already like powdery scents but I also feel like my nose has grown more accustomed to them. So, today I tried Cashmere Mist EDP and I really quite like it. We are having a cold spell in Southern California and I think this perfume is perfect for the next week of chilly spring weather. I have started to enjoy suede and leather notes when the overall composition is powdery. I do enjoy jasmine and lily of the valley, and I very much adore musk. Probably not an animalic musk as much, but a clean white musk. This is a really lovely perfume.

When I read the fragrance notes, I can smell each one, but overall it smells like a clean woodsy musk with suede. I also detect a hint of lemon as a top note. I'm not sure if the Fragrantica notes are missing lemon or if something else is just giving me the impression of a lemon scent, but that lemony scent is in the background and subdued. This is nice. Its not my favorite and I think the deodorant smells better than this, but it's nice! I think it's office friendly and inoffensive. As far as clean musks go, I'll give this a 7/10 just because it does smells good and has good performance. Edited to add that this isn't sweet and I don't really detect vanilla either, only a hint in the dry down that's not very detectable, which could be GREAT for people who want to avoid the sweeter vanillac musks.

For my entire life this has been my very fabulous dance teacher's signature scent. She's the first person I ever remember noticing smelled different from everyone else because the perfume always projected so much... or maybe she just drenched herself in it lol. Not sure if it's been slightly reformulated as the tester I have is more of a skin scent, but it's still glamorous--like an old Hollywood starlet who just dusted herself with baby powder while drinking a glass of champagne. While I do quite like the scent on it's own and for nostalgic purposes, I'm not sure if this is something I need in my collection or want to smell like just yet. I will always associate this scent with older women in my life and I'm still in my 20s. I feel like I will unlock the privilege of wearing this once I turn 40.

Can I just say, I loved nikkibobbi77's review! The fragrance of your Auntie who can still pull 'em. Accurate AND hilarious!! I like Cashmere Mist EDP a lot. I find it powdery and musky, but womanly-powdery (not baby-powdery). Smells natural and skin-like, and the fragrance gets even better as it goes on. Lasts a long time too, I could still smell it after 6 hours. Sophisticated is a great word for it - which is probably why it has stood the test of time and is still in production. I will probably buy it! For some reason, I prefer the Donna Karan Cashmere Aura, or the Cashmere Liquid NUDE (long discontinued, I used to have it) over the flagship Cashmere Mist. Those two just "excite" my nose more and I don't know why. I will have to re-spray my sample of Cashmere Aura and write a review for it.

I have both the EDP and EDT version. The one question I had that I couldn’t get the answer to was, which of the two smell the most similar to the Deodorant? After all, the deodorant was the reason why I became extremely intrigued about the fragrance. The EDP is the closest to the Deodorant. I wore it the afternoon I purchased it and thought it was my deodorant projecting. It’s so smooth and effortlessly clean. Apart from being the closest to the deodorant, it’s also very long lasting, creating a bubble all around you that will make anyone around you become curious about your scent. Is it YOU or is it your perfume. Lol I wish that I would’ve appreciated this perfume years ago when I first smelled it. This is the one perfume that I wish I would’ve had from the very beginning.

A very mature scent. At first spray it is immediate citrusy, crisp bergamot. As it starts to dry that musky powdery Jasmine shines through and that’s where it hits me at the “older mature woman” smell. When it has sat for a while it warms up to this deep lightly sweet amber, cozy sandalwood, but that powdery musk is still lingering in the background. It’s definitely strong. But it smells clean. The citrus wears away next to almost immediately. While it does give off a richness, I can understand others opinions on how it could be outdated and whatnot. It’s a nice out of the shower, clean and cozy scent. Nice for more wintery days at home. I don’t know if I would purchase an entire bottle but it is a classic scent I’m glad to have tried.

I bought this blind off Sephora.com ages ago with three other blind buys. Every one was a winner except this-- at first. I started wearing Cashmere Mist to work just to use it up since the other three were too favoritey to waste on wearing at an office. Lo and behold, it started to grow on me. Cashmere Mist is the comfort of a powdery fragrance for women that aren't that into powdery fragrances. It has enough woods to keep it earthy enough for my taste. If you have an aversion to the typical fruity-floral fragrance profile of perfumes marketed to women and want something that smells classic and expensive, this might be worth a try. I hope it never gets discontinued. I don't wear it often, but when I run out I will buy it again.

The antiperspirant seems to be missing the suede note, which I am grateful for, because my wouldn’t THAT be counterproductive🤣 I prefer the antiperspirant and the edt to the edp. The leather note in the edp is rigid and unrefined, it takes a while to soften. Other wise, this is freshly bathed. Not showered, bathed. You just soaked in calgon powder bubble bath and washed with one of those fancy bar soaps from Home Goods, and topped it all off with Nivea body lotion. That exact scent, but with projection and lasting power. There are times when that’s all I want, so I’m glad to have it. 15ml is more than enough though, and if I repurchase, it will be the EDT.
